The 1992 US Open champion, Tom Kite is one of a number of big names bidding to qualify for this year's second Major at Pebble Beach.
Kite, who has played in 33 US Opens, claimed his only Major victory in his illustrious career at the Pebble Beach Golf Links 18 years ago.
Kite will be aiming to qualify at Columbine Country Club, where 29 players will be competing for two spots, making it a rather tall order for the 60-year-old.
Another big name in the world of golf that faces qualifying for the US Open is America's 2010 Ryder Cup captain, Corey Pavin, who also managed to win this prestigious tournament, in 1995. Pavin will play in the qualifier at Bull Valley Country Club.
Also going through the preliminary stages is up-and-coming Tour player, Rickie Fowler, who will be teeing it up at Brookside Golf and Country Club, Ohio. Joining Fowler in Ohio will be 2008 runner-up Rocco Mediate and, perhaps even more surprisingly, David Love III.
A particularly notable and interesting player featuring in the 2010 US Open qualifying events will line up in Dallas, Texas. The starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo, managed to gain a place in the sectional qualifiers via a playoff after a 69 in his qualifier.
