The 27-year-old from Cape Town in South Africa has been identified as his countryman Els’ long-term successor and confirmed his promise by finishing in the top 10 on the US money list last season and winning the 2006 Rookie of the Year award.
He was the winner of the Sunshine Tour in 2002/03 and already has Presidents Cup experience, having played on the losing team in 2005.

He won last year’s Western Open and will be hoping to at least match his 2005 Masters showing, when he finished in a share of fifth place. One of the rare low points of his 2006 season was last year’s championship at Augusta when he missed the cut. Currently ranked 12th in the world.
