54 ST ANDREWS – New
Architect: T Morris 2006 position: 37 Stats: 6,625 yds; par 71; SSS 73 GF: £32-£65 T: 01334 466666 W: standrews.org.uk
Many of those lucky enough to play their lion’s share of golf on this particular stretch of the Fife coast regard the New to be a more challenging and varied layout than the Old.
It is certainly a far sterner test off the tee with the fairways gently shaping in both directions and gorse providing a constant danger.
The greens are also significantly smaller than the Old’s, placing a greater emphasis on the quality of your approach play.
Always kept in pristine condition, the New is, in many ways, a more traditional links examination than its more illustrious older brother. NT
+ Harder than the Old Course; brilliant value - Lacks the views of many of St Andrews’ other courses Enter your review of St Andrews New below
