Why you can trust Golf Monthly
In the past few months I have tested a range of Galvin Green products, all of which I was very impressed with, but the Arlo waterproof jacket stole the show.
Over the years, I have donned a range of different products in this category, and while some have been more than acceptable (perhaps even exceptional), this rain jacket is in a league of its own.
You might have expected to read that statement, especially about a brand that specialises in this area and has a very strong reputation within it, but let me explain why I reached that conclusion...
Galvin Green Arlo Waterproof Jacket Review
Let's start with the thing that I believe makes the biggest difference - how it feels to wear.
Brands can bang on about the properties and technology, but if it's uncomfortable... I'm not interested.
The material used for the Arlo waterproof jacket feels super premium, robust and dependable - and it more than delivers on functionality.
I’ve worn this in pretty awful conditions and have never once regretted it. It’s all the ‘proofs’, covering you for wind, rain and worse, but it also feels effortless to wear.

There is no restriction to the swing, like you often experience with cheaper alternatives on the market, which is no small part down to how adjustable the fit is on the Arlo jacket.
There are even front pockets to store your valuables or simply keep those hands warm - essential!
The finer details are all executed perfectly, creating a product that is comfortable and functional in all conditions
The colour options are great, adding to the classic design and offering something for everyone. If you want to stand out, you’ve got a pop of orange. If you want a more neutral tone, ‘Sand’ is a great way to go.
If I had to be pedantic and pick one small thing to improve, which I really am forcing myself to do, the garment could do a little more to keep you warm.
Good layering solves that problem, so I wouldn’t dwell too much on that, but I do remember feeling a little exposed to the cold when playing in single-figure temperatures in Europe recently.
You expect great waterproof products from Galvin Green, but the Arlo still blew me away
The price point is towards the top end of the market, but if you can afford it and want to purchase something that should see you through for years to come - I don’t think you could go far wrong with this one.
