Tiger's big change
There may have been the usual questions about Tiger’s private life during his Tuesday press conference, but his change of putter dominated conversation
Over the last 12 years Tiger Woods has changed his golf swing, his coach, his caddie and 13 of the clubs in his bag. Throughout his career though, his faithful Scotty Cameron putter has remained in the bag. Scotty Cameron has personally made numerous versions of the same model but Tiger stuck with the exact same head. The main topic of conversation in this morning's press conference was not Tiger's two-hour conversation with the FBI two weeks ago, it was his decision to the switch to Nike's Method putter.
"I've always struggled on slower greens," said Tiger "This putter does come off faster with the new groove technology. It rolls the ball better and it rolls it faster. So I've had to make very little adjustment to how hard I'm hitting the ball."
Tiger has used his old putter to win 13 of his 14 major championships. While the new model looks almost identical at address the Nike method will provide a different feel. Tiger stated that the greens were running under 10 on the Stimpmeter compared to the usual major championship speed of around 13.
