This is Stuart Cink's first Major Championship in his 50th Major appearance.
He has made 12 appearances in the Open Championship and his previous best was a tie for sixth in 2007.
This is his 13th victory worldwide as a professional.
He has won five times on the PGA Tour; 1997 Canon Greater Hartford Open. 2000 MCI Classic. 2004 MCI Heritage, World Golf Championships-NEC Invitational. 2008 Travelers Championship.
His best major finishes previously were third in the 2001 US Open and tied third in the 1999 US PGA and 2008 Masters.
He is the ninth different American to win the Open since 1995 and claims the 115th American victory in European Tour history.
