No 84 - Aldeburgh
The inland course of Aldeburgh has a traditional feel with real character. A stiff test, this East Anglia track is really good value
84 ALDEBURGH
Architect: Fernie, Thompson 2006 position: 83 Stats: 6,603 yds; par 68; SSS 72 GF: £45-£65 T: 01728 453309 W: aldeburghgolfclub.co.uk
Aldeburgh is a mile or so inland, but the course is reminiscent of a true links.
Unusual in that it lacks even one par 5, it has recently benefited from a substantial tee and bunker redevelopment programme, and some work to control and re-shape the gorse, which has resulted in the encouraging of bluebells.
The course is well defined and defended by both its man-made hazards and nature, with gorse, heather, bracken, streams and gullies.
While most of the views are really only internal, those across the estuary while walking down the 5th fairway are fantastic. RS
+ Good value; a traditional course with real character; stiff test - Locker rooms need updating; welcome for visitors can be a bit mixed Enter your review of Aldeburgh below
