Surrey is blessed with more than its fair share of classic heathland courses, but the particular corner where Worplesdon is to be found is the jewel in its crown with the ‘Three Ws' bordering one another. All feature in our Top 100, but we rate Worplesdon as the finest. The layout feels well-balanced and offers a varied challenge. Significant and ongoing forestry work has helped to restore the original feel and enable the re-establishment of heather and indigenous trees while also improving the playing surfaces, as more light and air get to them.
Panellists' comments: "Pleasing to the eye and tranquil to the soul"; "A really good mix of different-length par 3s, 4s and 5s"
