Gary Wolstenholme is leaving the amateur golf tour to focus his efforts on the illustrious professional tour.
Wolstenholme will aim to continue his success from the amateur game on the European Senior's Tour later this year when he turns 50. Having spent the majority of his career within the amateur game, he's excited at the prospect of playing on the professional tour.
"I am looking forward to the challenge that the professional game has to offer," said Wolstenholme, who was speaking after signing with sports and celebrity management specialists, Champions (UK) PLC.
"There are many aspects I will miss from the amateur game, I loved representing my country and being a part of a team.
"I am feeling extremely enthusiastic about playing golf in general and believe that I can be rewarded in the professional game for all the hard work and time I
devoted as a amateur game."
Since becoming the Amateur champion in 1991 Wolstenholme has gone on to compete in six Walker Cups, becoming the highest points scorer for Great Britain and Ireland in the history of the competition. In 2007 Wolstenholme received an MBE in the Queen's New Years Honours list for Services to Sport. Where next?
