Major Ambition: How Wilson Re-Engineered A Century of Major-Winning Craftsmanship For The Modern Game
With their stunning looks and exceptional feel, the new Wilson Staff Model irons are a compelling option for better players looking to upgrade their set in 2026
In the world of golf equipment, brands often trade on marketing buzzwords and wild performance claims. But at Wilson, the currency is craftsmanship. It’s a company dedicated to achieving modern-day performance with a nod to its history and heritage.
Since 1914, Wilson clubs have been used to win 62 major championships - more than any other manufacturer. These victories have not been biased towards yesteryear. In fact, major trophies have been earned in every decade up to Gary Woodland’s gritty US Open triumph at the iconic Pebble Beach in 2019.
This shows its products continually perform at the highest level and with the new Staff Model family of irons, there is a genuine reason to be even more excited about Wilson Golf in 2026.
Featuring new and improved iterations of the Staff Model Blade and Staff Model CB as well as a brand new model in the form of the Staff Model XB, these irons aimed at the competent player have already received rave reviews. Joe Ferguson, Golf Monthly’s equipment expert, described the range as “phenomenal”, demonstrating the impact they have had on some of the most influential personalities in the sport.
“Wilson has a long history of great performing irons, and we've taken part of that heritage and combined it with modern craftsmanship to produce what I believe to be the best iron family the brand has ever produced,” explains Ben Hanser, CAD Engineer at Wilson Golf.
“When you sit the irons side-by-side, you’ll notice the consistent design across all models, whilst each model has individual nuances to differentiate between each iron.”
It’s no wonder given how good they look. The irons are distinguished by a new brushed satin finish and classic shaping with a contemporary edge, delivering a refined aesthetic that resonates with modern golfers while also serving the practical purpose of reducing sun glare.
With consistent design DNA across the family, each model provides the unmistakable soft feel that has defined Wilson for generations thanks to the use of Forged 8620 carbon steel.
The Staff Model Blade is the flagship iron, designed for the world’s most precise ball strikers. The 2026 edition features a shortened blade length and reduced offset, offering a compact, tour-inspired profile. The balance of feel, feedback and workability is the shot-maker’s dream while the consistent spin from the precision milled face will help golfers achieve more repeatable carry distances.
The revamped Staff Model CB is for the player who demands the feel of a blade but needs a touch more stability. It mirrors the profile of the Blade so closely that many opt for the CB in the longer irons for additional launch and forgiveness while benefitting from the ball flight control of the Blade in the short irons.
The Staff Model XB is arguably the most exciting addition to the family. A forged hollow-body "Players Performance" iron, the XB provides modern power and explosive ball speeds without compromising the sharp, thin topline preferred by better players. Filled with a vibration-dampening urethane, it sounds like a classic forging but launches like a rocket, and comes in everything from a 2-iron up to a gap wedge so you can fill your gapping requirements accordingly.
"We've taken that heritage and combined it with modern craftsmanship to produce the best irons the brand has ever produced"
Ben Hanser, CAD Engineer at Wilson Golf
The visual cohesion of the family is another stand out feature. All three of these models are designed to fit together seamlessly in a combo set so you can get the performance you need in the different areas of the bag.
Ready to find your perfect match and start attacking more flags? All three Staff Model iron sets are available now with an RRP of £1,169 (£167 per club)/€1,330 (€190 per club) for a 4-PW set. Be sure to visit the Wilson Golf website to find out more.
