How Duca Del Cosma Has Designed A Performance Spiked Golf Shoe With Hand-Crafted Finesse
The new Duca Del Cosma Bernardo golf shoe oozes class, but its spiked outsole is the epitome of why spiked golf shoes are good for your game
Duca Del Cosma is one of the authorities when it comes to premium, spiked, performance golf shoes. Golfers serious about their game know that the right shoes are the foundation of a good golf swing, so prioritising grip, stability and overall traction is a must. The new Bernardo, which is part of the wider Pro Spike range, is every bit as classy as previous Duca Del Cosma designs, but with a new spiked outsole that gives golfers all the game-enhancing benefits of wearing a spiked golf shoe on the golf course.
As good as this shoe looks, the technology behind the stability and grip it offers is the real reason golfers should be investing in a pair of performance designed spiked golf shoes. The Bernardo is built on top of the sturdy, lightweight Airplay 6 outsole which gives golfers super solid stances across multiple lies in multiple conditions. This outsole is crafted from a highly durable and responsive TPU material to deliver a high amount of stability and grip in every phase of the golf swing.
To help with this, strategically placed Softspike Pulsar cleats combine with secondary 5mm traction nubs to offer exceptional levels of grip in all conditions. While being packed with technology, this outsole is still remarkably lightweight and works in tandem with the midsole and insert to provide support and comfort as you walk.
The lightweight EVA midsole provides substantial shock absorption and helps generate maximum power during the swing, whilst the premium pro insoles deliver guaranteed all-day comfort and incredible breathability. Duca Del Cosma is all about attention to detail and the added toe bumper offers added protection when the foot twists during the downswing. All of this technology is housed in a hand-crafted white upper which has extra levels of detailing to add to the overall shelf appeal of this classic brogue silhouette.
Why a spiked golf shoe?
While spikeless golf shoes are becoming more popular, spiked golf shoes still far and away offer the most comprehensive experience of true grip on a golf course. Your feet are the only point of contact with the ground, so it is vital that you have full confidence in your footwear to keep your foot in the exact place it needs to be throughout all phases of the golf swing. A recent independent study conducted by The Golf Lab in Canada concluded that spiked golf shoes provide golfers with more consistency in hitting the sweet spot, greater accuracy and improved distance by up to five yards compared with spikeless shoes.
Optimised outsole traction helps to achieve a solid stance, helps golfers deliver increased speed to the golf ball and, by not having your foot slip around, enhances stamina for a higher level of performance from the first tee to the last. The lightweight nature of the Airplay 6 outsole also means less foot and leg fatigue after walking 18 holes.
The Bernardo is part of the larger Pro Spike collection from Duca Del Cosma, which also features another men's model in the shape of the Orlando and two women's styles, the Sabina and Avanti. The whole Pro Spike collection was designed in close collaboration with Duca Del Cosma's global Tour ambassadors including 6-time DP World Tour winner Joost Luiten, LPGA Tour contender Kelly Tan, and rising LET and DP World Tour stars Pasqualle Coffa and Daan Huizing.
The Bernardo, and all models in the Pro Spike range, are available from the Duca Del Cosma website with the Bernardo having an RRP of $289 / £239 / €269.
