Home player Bernd Wiesberger fired a superb final round of 65 to win the Lyoness Open at the Diamond Country Club in Austria by three shots from Thomas Levet of France and Ireland's Shane Lowry.

Wiesberger trailed Thorbjorn Olesen of Denmark by four shots going into the last round but, with four birdies in five holes around the turn, the Austrian joined the Dane at the top of the leaderboard.

Then, as Olesen faded on the run for home, Wiesberger moved clear with birdies at the 15th and then the 16th holes. He sealed victory with a long putt across the 18th green.

It was Wiesberger's second win on this year's European Tour, after the Ballantine's Championship in April, and it saw him climb to 19th on the Race to Dubai.

"It's the best day of my life so far," said the Austrian. "It seems like it went my way. I had such great fans backing me and I'm very proud."

Third round leader Olesen extended his advantage with a birdie on the 3rd hole but he then stalled with 10 straight pars and was caught, firstly by Thomas Levet, then by Wiesberger. With three bogeys in his last five holes, the Dane fell back into fifth place.

Levet was joined in a tie for second by Ireland's Shane Lowry. He played his last 13 holes in eight-under-par to finish on a four-round total of 16-under-par.

"After an awful start I'm delighted with how I fought back," he said. "I was two over after five holes, but then managed to go eagle-birdie-birdie, which really got my round back on track. I've played lovely all week, and today was no different."
