TaylorMade R9 driver in play

The TaylorMade R9 driver in play at the Bob Hope Classic and Qatar Masters

Pat Perez

The TaylorMade R9 driver is well and truly in play with Pat Perez stealing the headlines by firing a flawless 61 at the Bob Hope Classic with his new piece of gear.

R9 fans also got a glimpse of the new driver at the Race to Dubai’s Qatar Masters as world No.2 Sergio Garcia, Darren Clarke and Paul McGinley all added the new driver to their bag.

The TaylorMade R9 driver is a revolutionary new driver that has eight positions and three moveable weight ports, and Staff professional Garcia has had the pleasure of testing the club for some time.

The Spaniard carded a respectable two-under 70 at the Doha Golf Club, but Clarke and McGinley struggled to 73 and 76 respectively.

Back on the PGA Tour, Perez was unlucky to only gain a one-shot lead at the Bob Hope Classic after coming close to the tour record of 59 as Canadian Mike Weir and American Bubba Watson both shot 62s in California.

Meanwhile, TaylorMade is also set to launch its new R9 fairway woods, as well as its Rescue 2009 and Burner 09 irons, all available in the next few months.
