Golfers should have a few mental check boxes that need ticked when looking to buy a pair of golf pants. They have to be a few things - stretchy, lightweight, comfortable and have sufficient pocket room for all the items and accessories that you may carry during rounds like tees, ballmarkers, scorecards and more.

Of course, the golf pants have to look the part too - step forward the Under Armour Drive Tapered Pant, arguably the best pair of golf trousers we have tested in 2025 and certainly the best in terms of value for money.

Beginning with the looks, we tested the Halo Grey color and instantly loved what met the eye. The color is a gorgeous one, hitting that perfect balance between light colored, eye-catching pant without being too attention seeking.

These are trousers built specifically for golfers and after only a few holes on the golf course it’s easy to see why. The Drive pants are both light and stretchy, making them perfect for spring and summer golf. They are also water repellent which protects you against those unexpected showers that roll in half way through your round.

4-way stretch of the durable & super-comfortable stretch-woven twill fabric allows for full movement throughout the golf swing, meaning you’ll never feel restricted.

The internal rubber writing on the inside of the stretch waistband is an excellent touch, keeping your polo shirt in place and tucked in throughout the swing. Sufficient room is provided in the four pockets but we may have appreciated a little more or perhaps a mini pocket inside one of the front two pockets to store my pitch mark repairer or ball marker - however, I’m a player who typically has a lot in his pockets during rounds!

We tested these trousers alongside the Under Armour Forge 96 shoes, a really good value pair of golf sneakers, and loved the color coordination on offer - look good, feel good, play good as they say.

At just $85 per pair, there is a better pair of golf trousers on the market for the same price. The Drive pants are also available in a non-tapered version for those who prefer a more roomy fit.

As someone who has played golf to a professional level, and now writes about golf equipment, I get asked all the time about what are the best golf gifts. The truth is it completely depends on each individual and how much you are willing to spend.

As a longtime fan of the Under Armour apparel range, I was really excited to find out I would be reviewing their products.

Having tested plenty of golf apparel in the past, I was eager to see how this particular model stood up against the rest and, with high expectations set by previous experiences of Under Armour clothing, I was astounded that they were not only met but exceeded by this particular rain jacket.

Replacing an older version in my golf bag, the upgraded rain jacket was incomparable and I immediately prayed (perhaps foolishly) for a little bit of rain so that I could test it out on the golf course.

Well, as fortune would have it, I was in luck as I (well and truly) got what I wished for at Denham Golf Club in late September, but my trusty Under Armour Drive Rain Jacket stood firm against the conditions. In a true act of defiance, the jacket repelled the relentless stream of water and allowed me to continue my round in comfort – or at least as much comfort as you can feel in those sort of conditions.

Importantly, the jacket is super easy to store in your golf bag pockets and, when called into action, it was almost like adding a second skin. Like the best lightweight golf jackets, my movement was unrestricted and I remained cool enough that I didn’t feel overwhelmed by the additional layer.

It has more than lived up to its promise of being 100% waterproof and, on the numerous occasions I have needed it since the weather has turned, the breathability continues to impress me. Even when the wind is whipping through the trees I feel unphased on the course thanks to its windproof construction, meaning that, as my playing partners consider calling it a day, I am ready to charge on to the end.

The secure zip hand pockets allow me to store my essential items for ready use, including my lucky tee and my golf glove while I’m sinking putts, and the adjustable cuffs and bottom hem mean that I can wear the jacket my way - even if the looser fit might not be to everyone's taste. Personally, the adjustable fit provides the necessary customisation I need.

All-in-all I have very little, that is negative, to say about this excellent rain jacket and it will take some convincing to force me into switching my allegiances at this stage. When you consider the price, which is perhaps shifting from middle of the road into higher-end territory, I feel it provides good value for money and, from my early experiences, feel as though this particular investment will stand the test of time.

The last decade has seen Under Armour establish themselves as a high performance brand that garners a lot of respect in golf. I have been a fan of their clothing since it first hit the shelves in the early 2000’s but have never had or tried a pair of their golf shoes until today. 

Under Armour claim the Charged Breathe 2 have been designed from the ground up for female golfers, but they never expand on what that entailed or actually means, so I will assume it is just a nice sounding tag line. Nonetheless, they are still packed with features that will surely make everyone happy; they have a microfiber leather upper, which is waterproof thanks to their Never-Wet treatment to keep your feet cool and dry.

Like the Ecco LT1 that I have also recently tested, they come with some Ortholite™ technology in the form of their sock liner to ensure comfort and breathability. The spikes are their own brand of UA Rotational Resistance RST 2.0 spikes which can then be replaced with the more commonly known fast twist fitting spikes. 

First impressions upon opening the box were these are a great looking shoe, I love the overall design, shape and discreet patterns on the uppers. The purple on the inside along with the logo and section of the sole really make the shoes pop. They fitted well and I was happy to have chosen the size I did, as sometimes I can find a 7 too small in certain brands and and 8 too big, the 7.5 was just right. 

My feet are not particularly wide but these did have a slightly more narrow and snug feel to them, so may not be suitable for you if you have wider feet. Being the proud owner of two incredibly flat feet I am always looking for my shoes to have good arch support without it being too much to cause post round aches, Under Armour seem to have done well with this but I did find the support better on the Ecco W LT1’s.

The Charged Breath 2’s on the course felt good, the grip provided by the spikes was noticeable especially when hitting drives and fairway woods, they made me feel that bit more secure. Each shoe has 9 spikes on the sole, I particularly appreciated the placement of the spike on the toe, which helped to provide more grip. 

By the end of the round my feet still felt comfortable and there was no rubbing or potential blisters, which is always a great sign after the first wear.

Alas though they are not comfortable enough to make me a spike convert just yet. Mainly due to the feeling that I still knew I had them on and was looking forward to taking them off like you do a pair of shoes you might wear for work. 

When you are going up against some of the comfiest spikeless shoes ever made that feel like slippers from the likes of Sketchers, Adidas and Ecco it is always going to be a tough gig as spikes require a more stable sole. 

If you are a golfer that struggles with balance and staying stable when swinging I would absolutely recommend these shoes and at £70 they offer fantastic value for money.

There are few golfers who at 16 years old are ready to do battle with the world's best on the PGA Tour but after receiving a sponsor's invite, English teenager Kris Kim is set to do just that at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson held at TPC Craig Ranch, Texas.

In what must be a whirlwind week already for the teenage prodigy, Kim has now put pen to paper in a deal that will see him wear Under Armour Apparel and the brand's latest footwear, the Drive Pro shoe.

“Under Armour has helped me for some time now. I’m very grateful for their support and very happy to continue the partnership,” said Kim.

Kim had a breakout year in 2023, claiming victory of the Boys’ Amateur Championship, European Boys’ Individual Championship and The McGregor Trophy and is the first amateur to be sponsored by the CJ group, hence the sponsor's invitation to this week's PGA Tour event where he’ll tee off in the same field as fellow Under Armour athlete Jordan Spieth.

The 16 year old star will be striding the fairway of TPC Craig ranch while sporting the Under Armour logo and Kevin Ross, Managing Director at Under Armour EMEA, is certainly delighted to have the young Englishman on the brand's roster. “It’s great to be working with such an exciting talent as Kris. His hard work, ethic and humble nature aligns with the values of Under Armour perfectly. We look forward to supporting Kris to reach his goals over the coming years.”

Kim will be hoping for good week upon his first PGA Tour start and will lean on the experience of playing in front of large crowds at the Junior Ryder Cup at Marco Simone last year where he produced a dominating singles win over American, Miles Russell, who became the youngest ever player to make the cut in a Korn Ferry Tour event last month.

Since the early 2000s, Under Armour has been producing premium golf apparel that is worn by the likes of multiple-time Major winner, Jordan Spieth. There have been many excellent apparel items from the brand and, in the case of the Tour Tips Full-Zip Bomber Jacket, it's safe to say Under Armour have done it again!

Constructed of a double-knit fabric, the first thing I noticed when out the box is how soft and lightweight the material is. Unlike some of the best golf jackets on the market, the Bomber doesn't have a lining, but the fabric used still provided excellent insulation that worked perfectly when playing an early morning round, or a round in the UK...

Where I felt the jacket really stood out, though, was how non-restrictive it was in the swing. Like many of the best Under Armour golf clothing, it features four-way stretch that allowed me to commit to every shot on the course. Admittedly, the arms were ever so slightly baggy, but not to the point where they impeded me, especially as the cuffs kept the material up when rolled up the arm.

Another big bonus is how the jacket is laid out. Like the various midlayers, jackets and hoodies on the market, it has two pockets on the front, but also a pocket situated on the left side of the chest which is perfect for storing your phone or other necessities. Although it is a great feature, it may be better suited to off-course activities, as having an item placed in the pocket during the swing can be a tad distracting.

Importantly, if conditions do change when out on the course, the single-zip design means it can be taken on and off quickly, whilst the material does perform well if water comes into the equation. Obviously, with the thickness, you would likely not wear this in hotter temperatures, but for spring and early morning rounds, it excels in temperature control.

So, performance and ease of use-wise, the Tour Tips Jacket delivers in spades and, when it comes to looks, it certainly doesn't disappoint. The model I tested featured in a 'Silt and Black' colorway, which I adored, as the black lines on the shoulders really complemented the lighter shade of the body and the Under Armour branding running down the spine was very subtle.

Could the brand include more colors than the two available (Silt/Black and Black/White)? Possibly. However, this is one of the unusual times where I don't mind the lack of color choices, as the light and dark options should appeal to a wide range of tastes.

Overall, I am seriously impressed by the Under Armour Tour Tips Full-Zip Bomber Jacket. Not only is it one of the most comfortable items of clothing now in my closet, but the premium look and feel excel, both on and off the course. If you are looking for a new jacket, I would seriously consider this model.

Under Armour have really heightened their golf shoe offering for 2024, with one of the spikeless models receiving an update being the Phantom, a sneaker-style design that the brand claims "is your new go-to golf shoe."

Certainly, from a looks-perspective, I was very impressed with the shoes out of the box, as the knitted upper and rigid plastic on the heel provided a sporty, premium feel. Like most of the best spikeless golf shoes, the Phantom could easily be worn on and off the course and, possibly, be worn for other sports as well.

In a bizarre way, and in my personal opinion, the aesthetics of this golf shoe seem to scream comfort. The upper is soft to the touch and, when you look at it from above, gives the impression that it is actually wider - it almost reminds me of a moon boot style, that wide-round look. Certainly, when compared with models like the New Balance 997 SL, I noticed the difference in width across.

Regarding comfort, like the best Under Armour golf shoes, the Phantom features an array of technology, such as a SpeedForm 2.0 sockliner for underfoot support and HOVR cushioning for stability. Whilst on the course, I could feel the support on various terrains and, what's more, the locked-in feel was a handy addition when committing to various shots off the tee and from the rough and fairway.

One slight downside I found is the knit collar. I think it looks great and definitely helped keep my foot secure but, like the Under Armour Charged Curry shoe my colleague has tested, it can be slightly difficult to get on. Also, if you are someone who suffers with ankle swelling, it may cause some discomfort as, although there is stretch in the collar, it remained quite tight even after a number of wears on the course and at the driving range.

Moving to grip and, admittedly, when I first looked at the sole, I did think the rubber nubs on the bottom wouldn't be enough. However, I'm happy to report that there was plenty of traction on offer in both damp and dry conditions. Obviously these won't rival the best spiked golf shoes in terms of grip, but it's clear that Under Armour haven't tried to do that, as their spiked Drive Pro and HOVR models fill that void perfectly.

The Phantom has a waterproof membrane and one-year waterproof warranty which is good but, personally, I would opt to use these more in the summer months as they go well with both shorts and pants, and are available in numerous colorways, with the Phantom featuring in light and dark colors that should suit all styles.

Overall, there is a lot to like about the Under Armour Phantoms, with the athletic style and excellent comfort providing footwear that excels both on and off the course. If you are looking for a more summer-type shoe then the Phantom is a very viable option.

Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 vs Under Armour Drive Pro Golf Shoe: Read Our Head-To-Head Verdict

Under Armour and Nike are two of the most popular brands in golf apparel and they sponsor some of the biggest names in the sport. Under Armour's most famous ambassador is Jordan Spieth while Nike have a whole host of star names in their stable, including Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda. 

In this piece, we will be focusing on the Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 (as worn by McIlroy) and the Under Armour Drive Pro shoe (which Spieth helped to design), to see which is best. 

Both are outstanding shoes in their own right but deciding which are the best golf shoes for you can be a difficult decision. That's why we are here to go through what makes these shoes great in this head-to-head, and hopefully at the end of it you'll know which one is for you. 

Looks

Starting with the shoes worn by McIlroy, the Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3s have done a fine job building on the success of the Victory Tour 2s and improving on them further. The new design is different in some subtle ways while the new full-grain leather upper has a sophisticated look and supple feel. 

Along with the upper, the swoosh and midsole sections look slightly different to the previous model and overall we think the shoe just seems a little more refined. It looks like more of a traditionally sporty golf shoe that will suit a wide range of ages, whereas the previous model was perhaps better suited to younger audiences. 

We are also fans of the various colorways, in particular the the fade of the shoe from blue to green on the model that we tested. If that isn't to your tastes though then there are other colors to choose from.

Moving onto the Under Armour Drive Pro now, which we would describe as a classic looking spiked golf shoe. Not in the sense of a brogue style like the FootJoy Premiere Packard or G/FORE Gallivanter, but in the sense of an athletic spiked golf shoe like the Adidas ZG23 or FootJoy HyperFlex Carbon. Those two aforementioned shoes are arguably touch more eye catching than the Drive Pro, but that's all down to personal preference. 

One thing we didn't like is that, as with the Drive Pro SL spikeless model, Under Armour has opted to shout about its S3 system technology by printing out some of its key features of the side of the shoe. We think this is a bit odd and distracts from what is otherwise a decent looking silhouette. Under Armour do make some really good looking golf shoes - just take one look at the Phantom Charged SL - so we're not sure how the design team thought this would be a good idea. Nike definitely comes out on top in this category.

Fit/Comfort

Obviously this is one of the most important factors when it comes to choosing a golf shoe. Comfort is absolutely paramount as you are going to be spending hours at a time in them, shifting your feet and walking miles. If you do not get the right fit and comfort then you are going to destroy your feet and your golf game will suffer too. You won't shoot a low score if you're thinking about how sore your feet are.

In testing, the Nike Victory Tour 3 proved to be one of the most comfortable shoes we have tested. The previous version was right up there in this regard too, but for us the 3 has taken it to a whole new level. This is mainly because of the extra thickness of padding around the ankle, which felt soft and comfortable.

Additionally, Nike has added an internal strap on the inside of the shoe which contours to the shape of your foot. What was a particular standout for us is that, out of the box, they didn't require much wearing-in before tackling the course, which is always a bonus. Nike have also stitched a Zoom Air unit directly to the upper which delivered an exceptional feel, while the foam towards the heel was so cushioned it felt almost bouncy when walking on the course. 

What the Under Armour Drive Pro might lack in the aesthetics department it makes up for in comfort. Some of the brand's previous models - such as the Hovr Drive 2 that this shoe replaces -  could feel a touch on the firm side when you first put them on, but Under Armour have worked hard to improve this with the new Hovr midsole - which is part of the S3 system which we will explain in more detail shortly. 

The new HOVR midsole utilizes softer, energy returning foam on the medial side of the foot which combines with firmer, more supportive materials on the lateral side of the foot to support it through the movement of the swing. It's noticeably softer in certain areas than on previous Under Armour models but it is still not the softest feeling shoe in the world. 

Performance

The grip and stability of the Victory Tour 3 shoes was top-notch, as you might expect from a shoe worn by McIlroy. A new seven-way cleat system with two different types of spikes is fitted in three forefoot areas, while there are Silver tornado spikes in the heel and other side of the forefoot area. The result of this? Well, we tested these shoes in different conditions and the traction remained very good. During one round we played on a variety of ground conditions, including brown, burnt-out patches of fairway as well as softer ground and a variety of different lies and stances. Each time, the grip and stability were never compromised. 

So Nike leads the way so far in looks and comfort, while it also delivered the goods in performance too. You might think that makes it a clean sweep, but you'd be wrong. In terms of on course performance the Under Armour Drive Pro can hold its own against anything thanks to its S3 system. That doesn't justify shouting about it on the side of the shoe mind, but it's easy to see why Under Armour want to broadcast it.

There are nine spikes on each foot, with the toe spike moved slightly more centrally to optimize grip. Under Armour also designed its own S3 spike specifically for the Drive Pro. The S3 spike makes up four of the nine spikes (the other five are the new Soft Spike Tour Flex Pro) and was developed to help with rotational resistance. These spikes are turned precisely 10° clockwise to hit an exact angle of slip that the brand wanted to resist. 

The final part of the S3 system is the new Lockdown Lacing System that gives "biomechanically correct support" throughout the entirety of the foot, from the lateral ball to the medial arch. We found this system to also work brilliantly at locking the foot in place when we needed it, but also giving it room to move when it naturally needs to, either through the swing or just when walking. 

The results of these improvements are comprehensive. The shoes offered us truly assured footing on every possible lie while also not feeling too 'locked-in'. When it comes to that overall sensation of assured grip, it easily matches and probably surpasses the likes of the FootJoy HyperFlex Carbon and - crucially for the purpose of this head-to-head - the Nike Air Zoom Tour Victory 3.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is a really important feature for a golf shoe so that is where we finish our head-to-head with these two shoes. Occasionally when a manufacturer tells you that the shoes are waterproof it isn't always the case and you can find your feet getting drenched, which is a sure fire way to make a round of golf a lot less enjoyable. 

We can confirm though that both of these shoes are fully waterproof and that there was no leaking from either. Certainly, both rank highly on our best waterproof golf shoes list and, ultimately, it will come down what material you prefer your golf shoes to be made up of.

It has become clearer and clearer over the last few years just how much athletes in other sports like playing golf. Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Wayne Gretzky and so on, they all seem to enjoy the game. And another big example of this is Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry. But not only does he play the game, getting involved in The Match series of events and other tournaments, but he also has his own line of golf gear as part of his partnership with Under Armour. The Charged Spikeless golf shoe is just one example from this line and is the subject of this review. 

Under Armour says this of the collection on the website. Just how much influence Curry had on the design of the shoe is hard to tell, but what I can say is the result is perhaps one of the most comfortable golf shoes on the market. It features a lightweight, breathable knit upper that blends into a bootie design, which is to create a sock-like feel and fit. In my opinion it certainly achieves this, and my feet felt nicely cocooned within the shoe. Admittedly the shoe is pretty tricky to get on as the bootie element and lace system is so rigid, but once your feet are in the comfort becomes instantly apparent. Additionally it is worth saying that some people feel as if the sock liner can be a bit tight, so I would definitely recommend trying on these shoes before purchasing. But for me though, the liner was just about right whilst the Charged Cushioning was an added comfort element. Walking felt effortless and almost springy after each step.

A colleague of mine tested the standard Charged Phantom SL golf shoe, and in that review he acknowledges how good the traction is, so I was interested to see if there were any changes when it came to grip and stability from the Curry version. We are pleased to announce that the traction offered remains excellent for a spikeless shoe. Of course when the weather turns nasty and very wet, I will always recommend a spiked shoe. But for those light showers this shoe should perform admirably. The shoes also felt stable too thanks to the significant rubber nubs on the outsole of the shoe.

Moving on to looks, the Curry shoes continue where the standard Charged Phantom SL left off, but introduce a number of small design flourishes I like. The Curry signature on the insole, along with the paragraph explaining his rise to stardom, are nice touches, and the two colors it comes in really look good. I think it definitely fits into the sneaker/casual golf shoe market nicely, and I can see it competing with the Nike Roshe G shoe, or the Puma GS-Fast because I am confident it can be used just about anywhere.

Now I would remiss if I didn’t mention that it is not waterproof, only water-resistant, so if you play in wet weather a lot, or need a new pair of winter golf shoes, then look elsewhere. But if you want a pair of shoes that look different and certainly stand out, are comfortable once on, and give a locked-in feel, then these are well worth a try.

Under Armour Iso-Chill Edge Polo Review 

Under Armour has produced some of the most functional and technologically-advanced golf apparel we have seen in recent years and there is little evidence to suggest that is going to change moving forward. The Iso-Chill Edge polo is the epitome of this, with its notably light weight and vibrant designs, Under Armour has created a polo to help you not only play with more comfort, but look better while doing so.

The Iso-Chill polo is one of the standout garments from the 2023 Under Armour range and I put it straight to the test in the hot and humid conditions of Cyprus in February. Wearing this polo truly is a unique experience thanks to the Iso-chill fabric, which rapidly removes heat away from the body, cooling you down in hot conditions. This innovative design certainly places it among the best new Under Armour golf gear. I noticed immediately how cool it made me feel while suiting up for the day ahead after a hot shower, so much so that in an air-conditioned room I added a mid-layer for breakfast.

It was stepping out onto the range and going through my warm-up where I really noticed the effect of the Iso-Chill technology. As I began to exert more effort on my longer clubs I really didn’t feel as though I was sweating or overheating. The loose fit, combined with a four-way stretch material also helps you remain cool while allowing you to swing athletically with no restrictions. A new shorter collar looks smart and stylish and a side vent hem is yet another reason why this polo should be in your summer wardrobe. The sweat wicking and anti-odor material allows you to play 18 holes and remain comfortable enough to go straight for a refreshing beverage after, without feeling as though you were desperate for a shower or change.

Under Armour has created everything you would need from a modern day golf polo, making it one of the best golf polos around this year. This is a polo that performs in the heat of the moment (pardon the pun) and will have you looking good for your winner's speech afterwards. The Under Armour Iso-Chill polo comes in a few different styles and colorways with something for everyone. For £60, it's a mightily appealing prospect.

Under Armour Charged Phantom SL Golf Shoe Review

While many golfers will remain traditionalists and enjoy a classic looking, spiked golf shoe, golf is growing and more and more newcomers to the game are of a younger age and are seeking a more modern, athletic golf shoe. I was recently given the chance to try the Charged Phantom SL shoe, which has been designed to offer the comfort of a running shoe, while rivalling the performance of some of the best spiked golf shoes.

While Under Armour refers to themselves as ‘The golf brand for athletes’ it’s no surprise that the brand has created, what I believe is, one of the best crossover style golf shoes on the market. By that, I mean this is honestly a shoe I can wear from home, to the gym, walk 18 holes, have a drink in the bar and stop to pick up groceries on the way home. The sleek athletic style, with a ‘never wet’ knit upper means your feet can breathe, allowing you to do it all again the following day. When testing in sunny Cyprus the pollen count was high and so the shoes did pick up a lot of dust and dirt, however the shoes are machine washable which means you can keep them looking fresh after every round.

My first impressions when putting on the Charged Phantom SL were how well and snug they fit. The Storm Flat Knit Collar around the ankle provides a locked-in feel while also being extremely comfortable. I was given the Blue Mirage/Midnight Navy color scheme which I personally loved, but there are three other colorways to choose from if you want something more understated. The Charged midsole that separates the footbed and outsole is something that has featured in many Under Armour running shoes and provides comfort, as well as the ability to help transfer energy created from pushing against the ground, into your swing. I felt very stable even when swinging hard in the Charged Phantom SL, thanks to a TPU infused yarn which is wrapped around the toe of the shoe and provided a secure feeling, much like a sturdy leather based shoe when turning through impact. The performance and comfort of this shoe has earned it a place in our 2023 Editor's Choice.

I have worn many spikeless pairs of shoes in the past, but losing traction especially on early morning dew and during light showers was something I always struggled with. When shown the sole of the Charged Phantom SL shoe and how the rubber nubs were placed to resist rotational movement, I was really impressed and when put to use on the damp driving range back in the UK the traction I experienced was superb. It must be said however, as good as this shoe is in dry to damp conditions, I would recommend a spiked shoe if you play the majority of your golf in wetter weather.

The Charged Phantom SL is certainly one of the best Under Armour golf shoes I have worn and performed superbly in firmer conditions both from a performance and comfort standpoint. Under Armour has produced a shoe that I believe is on par with some of the best spikeless shoes we have tested in the past such as the Ecco Biom C4 and the Adidas Chodechaos and with an RRP of £100, it may just have the edge over those in terms of value for money.

The Under Armour Stormproof 2.0 Jacket is a stylish and functional garment that will keep you nice and dry when the heavens open.

When we tested it over a number of rounds, we found it to be very lightweight and stretchy for a good comfortable wear that comes up ever-so-slightly on the big side, so if you like a tighter fit we'd recommend sizing down. We also noticed the top section protruding a little and not sitting very well. The material is lightweight and stretchy but not soft so it can be quite rigid once in place.

The Stormproof 2.0 does feel very well made and has a very unique feel inside that gives you good peace of mind that no water will come through. We loved the zip, which also feels very well made and solid, as well as the two zipped hand pockets.

You get good warmth from the jacket, which is also breathable, and when fully zipped up it gives good warmth around your neck and keeps the warm air in around your body.

One gripe we have with it is the wrist cuffs, which officially are adjustable but don't allow the jacket to be as tight around the wrists as we'd have ideally liked. The two velcro pads that secure your fit are very small so there's really not much room to work with.

There's also an inside adjustable cuff at the bottom of the jacket to allow you to wear it tighter around the waist. We found the jacket easy to move in and a joy to hit golf shots while wearing it.

We really liked the styling of the black and light grey version, while there's also a two-tone blue colorway on offer.

Overall, the Stormproof 2.0 Jacket can be considered one of the best golf rain jackets and among the best golf waterproofs, and for the modest price it does very well. We'd prefer to see some better cuffs, a slightly better fit and perhaps even one or two more colorways to take it to the next level.

Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 SL Golf Shoe Review

It's been an excellent year for Under Armour in its bid to continue making the best golf shoes on the market. First I tested the brilliant HOVR Tour SL, which I gave five stars, and then came the HOVR Drive 2, which made it into our Editor's Choice list for 2022. The new Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 SL, put simply, is a spikeless version of the HOVR Drive 2. I loved how supportive and 'locked-in' I felt when testing the spiked version, so was excited to see if the brand could convert this into one of the best spikeless golf shoes too. 

Looks wise, this shoe hits every mark for me. An athletic profile with a few pops of color and graphics is right up my street. I wear grey and blue a lot out on course so this grey/blue colourway helped bring my look together perfectly. There's two other colorways though if this isn't to your taste, and the black/red and white/grey colours look equally sharp. 

Performance wise this shoe stands out thanks to the spikeless outsole. As was the case with the outsole on the HOVR Tour SL, Under Armour has once again nailed this aspect. Using a mixture of plastic and TPU nubs, the brand has created what I think is the most convincing spikeless outsole on the market. While the outsole on the FootJoy Pro SL and G/FORE MG4x2 are still very good, the Under Armour design is better in my opinion.

Despite not yet being able to test it in wet conditions, I have full confidence that this shoe can be worn - and performed in - in all conditions. While grippy in different lies and conditions, the outsole is also low-profile enough that you don't feel it's presence when you're walking on dry turf. Greenkeepers will be pleased to hear that the shoe leaves barely any marks on the green either. 

Stability is another key feature of any Under Armour shoe and the HOVR Drive 2 SL one again excels in creating support and stability through the swing. There are various HOVR placement supports across the shoe and I could feel them most at play on the outside of my feet during the swing. It's an admittedly strange sensation when compared to other shoes I've tested this year, but much like the other Under Armour shoes I've tested this year, you quickly get used to all this extra support and appreciate how it's helping you stay balanced through the swing. This is all aided by the moulded heel cup and, while it looks rather large, does a great job of keeping your heel locked into the sole of the shoe when swinging. 

My one gripe is that this isn't as soft underfoot as perhaps the Ecco Biom C4 Hybrid or Skechers Go Golf Drive 5 shoes are. Granted, after a few rounds on course breaking these in, the HOVR Drive 2 SLs did become more comfortable. It's also worth noting the support in the aforementioned Ecco and Skechers shoes is nowhere near what the Under Armour offers - so it all depends what you prioritise in a shoe. That's not to say these are uncomfortable shoes and the HOVR outsole still provides plenty of cushioning and energy return - there are just slightly softer shoes out there. 

It's worth noting how lightweight these shoes are though. Combined with the breathable nature of the upper, these are a great shoe to wear when the weather gets hot. It'll still be a great shoe to wear if it's wet too - the fully waterproof upper and excellent outsole will keep you covered. 

Overall this is a golf shoe that is very hard to fault. I'd still lean towards the HOVR Tour SL for it's mesh upper and overall style but, if you prefer a spikeless shoe with a more traditional upper material, the HOVR Drive 2 SL should easily make your shortlist. It'll be fascinating to see how Under Armour can top its 2022 class of golf shoes.

Best Under Armour Golf Shoes 2026

The Quick List

Top pick

First up I've selected the latest Drive Pro Clone shoe as my top pick because aside from a small breathability point, it might be the best golf shoe you can opt for in 2026. The headline new technology is a proprietary auxetic upper which expands, contracts and shapes to each individual foot, creating a more adaptive fit. In my testing it really didn't take me long to realize how good this performance is, to the point where I think a wide range of golfers, if not all, will enjoy these shoes.

In short, for me these shoes offered the feel and flex of a knit shoe, whilst also delivering a locked-in sensation as well, something you would expect from a performance shoe. This new upper material looks and feels like real leather, and I am confident golfers of all foot shapes and sizes can get a comfortable fit in the Clone shoes. I would recommend trying them on just to feel the material sensation around your foot. I should admit they aren't the softest feeling shoes underfoot but for me they did offer a balance of comfort and cushioning whilst walking.

Performance isn't limited to comfort though. I was pleased to see Under Armour stick with the S3 support system on the outsole in particular because I thought it was one of the best outsoles around, giving exemplary grip.

I think the looks have definitely improved from the previous Drive Pro below as well. The athletic silhouette screams premium and Under Armour has done an impeccable job of elevating the quality from a feel and looks perspective.

One final small point is these are not the most breathable shoes I've tested. Obviously fully waterproof shoes won’t ever be as breathable as their knit counterparts, but I’d put the Clone on the less breathable side of the shoe spectrum.

Best spikeless

In the latest Clone line not only is there a spiked model above but also a spikeless design which once again features the revolutionary upper material. In the spikeless shoe, once again the material really does give an adaptive fit. In my testing it felt snug on areas of my foot whilst simultaneously giving any awkward parts of my feet the room to maneuver. I didn't experience any pain or pinching and yet the support was also noticeable as well. In short, this is a golf shoe I'd encourage you to at least try on to get a feel for the sensation of the fit, if my description thus far has piqued your interest.

Much like the spiked version, I think the new, refined looks are a definite upgrade on the previous Drive Pro, with the textured finish, different colors, and smaller design flourishes really elevating the design.

The ground penetration and lateral support of this shoe are also worth mentioning thanks to Under Armour deciding to use the same outsole from the previous model, which performed very well in my testing back in 2024. It mixes TPU with rubber nubs, with the firmer TPU positioned from the lateral heel to the medial toe in the most important areas for grip.

Finally once again I should acknowledge that this isn't the most breathable shoe on the market. In very cold and very warm conditions, my feet were sweating more than usual but regardless of this, I think the Clone SL is a shoe that will suit the majority of golfers out there.

Best for grip

To begin with, when it first came out the Drive Pro was given a big makeover from its predecessor, with the key changes being a midsole that utilizes softer, energy returning foam on the medial side of the foot, as well as firmer, more supportive materials on the lateral side of the foot to support it through the movement of the swing.

It's called a Swing Support System, or S3 and, in testing, I felt it worked perfectly to keep our foot supported and locked-in whilst tackling the golf course. Covering everything from traction and the midsole, all the way up to a new lacing system developed by the Under Armour team.

Nine spikes on the sole ensure plenty of grip no matter the underfoot conditions. Despite these spikes, this shoe is lightweight and comes in at just 12oz, putting it firmly in the running for the best golf shoes for walking. The looks are good rather than great, with a slight upgrade in this department the only thing stopping us from truly falling in love with these shoes. Nevertheless, they're a really great option for all players.

Best lightweight

Along with the Drive Pro above, Under Armour also released the SL version as well, which features the same two years of research and development that led to the Swing Support System. Again, the performance of this new system was excellent and the new midsole provides extra comfort.

The main difference between the Pro and SL is the lack of spikes on the sole. Instead, they feature TPU with rubber nubs, as well as the firmer TPU positioned through the lateral heel to the medial toe, the rubber nubs are all set at different heights. This is different to the best spikeless golf shoes on the market and, from my testing, I can certainly feel them at work and felt I could swing as confidently as possible from any lie or condition.

Like their spiked-brother, the Drive Pro SL are super lightweight - I barely noticed them on my feet during testing and I enjoyed the performance that much that I've continued to use them in my golf shoe rotation! Although this isn't a shoe that can be worn off the course like the best golf sneaker or the best casual golf shoes, the price point helps alleviate that slight disappointment.

Best value

Because of the price point at under $100, these Drive Fade shoes are some of the best budget golf shoes currently on the market. From a looks perspective they offer a classic spiked golf shoe silhouette with some decent colorways on offer, however the materials used are synthetic and have a firm feel to them, as opposed to leather shoes which soften up nicely. However this is to be expected for a shoe at this price point, and it is worth saying the material is 100% waterproof as well.

Grip is excellent thanks to the outsole, where Under Armour has spared no expense. This actually features the same S3 spikes used on the Drive Pro shoe above and the result is excellent traction.

Moving on to comfort, I will say the shoe does have a firm feel, but most Under Armour models on this list are the same. It must be a brand tactic to go for out and out performance over maximum comfort. That being said they aren't uncomfortable and the fit is superb. My feet felt really locked in during the swing and I felt supported to.

All in all there is a lot of golf shoe for your money here. Solid looks, excellent performance and a price point that the casual and budget-conscious golfer can appreciate. There is also a spikeless version if that is more your scene as well.

Best for versatility

There are a lot of things our tester Conor Keenan liked about the Phantom Fore shoes - the ability to wear them both on and off the course, the slick modern styling, how easy they are to slip on and off and most importantly, how comfortable they are.

This is a shoe that deliver tremendous rebound, making them one of the best golf shoes for walking. Along with the beautifully soft sole, you're given a little more breathability thanks to the improved, more versatile sock lining that we found a little too tight in the previous iteration of this shoe.

You'll also get plenty of grip underfoot throughout your golf swing - during testing, Conor didn't slip once and even when continuing to wear these shoes post-testing, still vouches for their stability to this day. They'll also protect you from the rain thanks to the NeverWet-treated knit and lightweight waterproof membrane, meaning you'll have peace of mind for when those unexpected showers that may roll in halfway through your round. Although we'd class them more as a summer golf shoe, they really are impressive, and considering all this comfort and performance come from a price tag of only £110/$130, it's no wonder we gave these shoes a five star review.

Best sneaker

The Halo Tour is a spikeless shoe based on the brand's flagship Halo running shoe and as such it's my top sneaker pick in this guide. Though more casual in its look, performance, grip, stability and comfort have not been sacrificed, and this is still a purposely designed golf shoe, just with its visual identity rooted in running. Obviously the looks may divide opinion and this is entirely subjective so some will love these, some not so much.

What isn't subjective is the other performance elements I noticed in testing. The stability is superb, thanks mostly to the heel cup, which neatly cups your heel in place for a locked-in sensation that doesn't feel uncomfortable or unnatural. Admittedly, whilst the outsole is good, it isn't as good as other spikeless models in this guide like the Drive Pro Clone SL.

I've worn this shoe a lot off the course, probably more so than on it so far. There's a walking softness I enjoyed, I really felt the HOVR foam in the midsole working to cushion my foot, but not to the detriment of support through the swing. Finally I should acknowledge these are competitively priced as well so there is good value with these shoes.

How we test golf shoes

Our golf shoe testing methodology revolves around putting models to the test over a number of rounds and in different conditions. This is so we can gain a better idea of overall performance in terms of factors like grip comfort, grip, stability, waterproofing and how they actually look on the golf course. Each of the shoes listed above has been personally used by a member of the Golf Monthly team and golf shoe testing is headed up by Golf Monthly Staff Writer Dan Parker.

This is the best way of testing a golf shoe as using it in the real world over a number of weeks allows us to see how they perform when variables change like weather, ground conditions, different stances and lies, and so on. We think this also gives us information on the little details as well like which brands come up small or large, which models start to rub a bit too much after 36 holes, which designs can be used off the golf course and for the drive home?

Due to the fact we test so many golf products here at Golf Monthly and with almost all of these tests taking place on the golf course, we need shoes to wear whilst our reviews take place. This means the golf shoes we test get a lot of mileage under their belt, tested sometimes over near a dozen rounds before we write and publish the review. This allows us to give as thorough a review as possible rather than just testing the shoe over one or two rounds. Instead, we really integrate ourselves with the shoes to allow us to write the most informed, knowledgeable verdict possible.

We are very comprehensive in our tests to the point where we will regularly attend product launches and meet with the manufacturer’s R&D experts to understand the new technology. That isn't to say manufacturers can buy a good review though, as all our reviews are made by golfers, for golfers.

How to choose a golf shoe

There are a number of factors to consider when picking out your next pair of golf shoes. So, to help you narrow down your search and inform your buying decision, we have put together some key points below you need to think about when purchasing your next pair of golf shoes.

Spiked or spikeless?

The best golf shoes above are split into spiked (or cleated) and spikeless designs and there are pros and cons of each. Spiked golf shoes offer better grip and stability but don't sit as low to the ground as spikeless models.

Spikeless golf shoes offer off-course versatility. They are perfect for driving in the car to the golf course, playing a round, and then driving home again because they are usually light and comfortable, but most won't offer as much traction as a spiked shoe.

Waterproofing

If you live somewhere that gets a lot of rain then a waterproof shoe is a must. The best designs will keep your feet bone dry however if you play golf in glorious sunshine most of the time, then you may view other factors as more significant. Many players choose to have one pair for winter and another, lighter pair for summer to keep them fresh and suit different requirements.

Getting the right fit

When picking out golf shoes getting the right fit is important because otherwise blisters can build up. Or your feet may slide around inside, which limits your stability.

When trying a pair on for the first time, listen for the 'whoosh' sound when you slide your feet in - that's the sound of all the air leaving the shoe to confirm it is the correct size, but do a walking test to be sure. They shouldn't pinch anywhere, nor should your feet be moving around inside.

Styling

Look good, feel good, play good. This is a motto we all swear by at Golf Monthly. If you think you look the part it will build more confidence within yourself than you could think. Make you sure pair yourself with shoes that suit your eye - keep in mind that you'll be looking down at them before every shot!

Comfort

Comfort is key on the course. If your feet are comfortable, your mind will be at ease and you will inevitably play better golf. Under Armour has only been manufacturing golf footwear products since 2016, but it has made a significant imprint on the golf footwear industry in that time, becoming a trusted brand for comfort and traction on course. In collaboration with world-famous biomechanist Jean-Jaques Rivet, Under Armour has been able to continually bring new innovations to golf footwear and the Under Armour Hovr Drive 2 is a culmination of advanced traction and a sleeker overall aesthetic. We loved the new, spikeless Under Armour HOVR Tour SL that was launched this year, so how did Under Armour's newest spiked shoe fare?

The new Hovr Drive 2 addresses the specific needs of golfers, supporting your feet during the very specific movement of the golf swing. As much as we may not think it, the golf swing is a highly athletic movement and we all need the right equipment and grip on our feet to aid those movements. 

As such, the Hovr Drive 2 has applied the science of biomechanics in the design on its outsole to develop rotational, horizontal, vertical and internal traction. The most convincing of this traction comes from the new 3D moulded heel cup construction, which effectively creates a vacuum around the heel, locking it in for incredible levels of stability. Combined with the energy return of the midsole, it’s an almost unmatched feeling of grip and stability on the golf course. Under Armour nailed the spikeless outsole on the aforementioned HOVR Tour SL and the spiked outsole on this shoe matches that. 

Alongside working on the four dimensional traction in the Hovr Drive 2, Under Armour has introduced a new upper silhouette which is much sleeker than previous models. The upper has been brought closer to the foot to help increase the locked-in feeling created by the heel cup and outsole while making for a more dynamic looking silhouette. 

Despite this locked in feeling, comfort remains a key characteristic of the Hovr Drive 2. While the initially feeling out of the box may be on the firmer side, the Hovr foam quickly softens after wearing the shoes for a round. There is an abundance of energy return and comfort on offer thanks to Under Armour’s proprietary Hovr cushioning foam. Placed strategically in the midsole, Hovr foam supports that natural motion of the golf swing while also providing a soft feel on the bottom of your foot. Combined with the four dimensional traction, the Hovr Drive 2 is one of the most complete spiked golf shoes of the year. 

Under Armour Drive Pants Review

A good pair of golf pants or trousers must do several things, they should provide comfort and be able to move and stretch properly to not only deal with the golf swing, but the other movements we make on the golf course like lining up putts or teeing up. Additionally they should give some degree of protection from the elements, and look stylish as well. Well Under Armour has become a go-to brand for golf trousers from Jordan Spieth down to amateur players. With models like the Drive, it is not hard to see why. 

Constructed from a high-performance, mobile fabric, the Drive trousers have a streamlined fit to reduce drag on every swing. The stretch woven fabric is light and durable so you don’t feel restricted and hampered during the course of a round. They can deal with trips to bushes, heather and other troublesome flora as well which is vital for a good pair of pants lasting a long time. Additionally they have a modern flat-front design, a stretch waistband and five pockets.

At the heart of the design also lies Under Armour’s Storm technology, something that has been around for a while now, but the brand’s engineers continue to fine-tune it. In the Drive pants it helps repel water without sacrificing any breathability, and they are also windproof as well.

Trousers can be a difficult sell but we really liked wearing these – even on cold spring mornings they provide that little extra warmth, and yet aren’t too hot when the temperature rises. They’re also easy to clean and have spacious pockets for all your golfing accessories. Finally they come in six nice colors, and you can you get them in the regular design (pictured above) as well as Tapered Fit and a Slim Taper fit. Sizes range from 30/30 to 42/34, so whatever your body shape you should be well catered for.

Following victory at the RBC Heritage, Jordan Spieth has penned a four-year contract extension with global sportswear giant, Under Armour, taking his association with the brand to at least the end of 2029.

It remains the only apparel brand the American has worn in his professional career, with the three-time Major champion collaborating on his own line of shoe, including the spikeless Spieth 5 from 2021, which became one of the best golf shoes on the market at the time.

Speaking of his continued association with the brand, Spieth said: “Under Armour took a chance on me. I was just leaving school and I didn’t have a PGA Tour status, which in golf means everything. I’m always trying to just push myself and get 1% better each day."

Spieth has amassed 13 PGA Tour victories in his career to date, including three Major championships. The 28-year old's first Major success came at the 2015 Masters when he tied the 72-hole scoring record set by Tiger Woods. In the process, he became the second-youngest winner of the Green Jacket. 

Later that year, with victory at Chambers Bay, Spieth became the youngest US Open champion since amateur Bobby Jones in 1923. The only Major standing between the American and the illustrious career Grand Slam is the PGA Championship, which will get underway at Southern Hills next month. 

Spieth, who has spent 26 weeks at No.1 in his career, climbed back inside the top-10 in the world rankings with victory at Harbour Town Golf Links and helped set tournament record viewing figures. With the exception of one week in October 2021, he hadn't been ranked inside the top-10 since the 2018 BMW Championship. 

The Texan has amassed an estimated net worth in excess of $110m and with his latest $1.4m winner's cheque, he now sits at 11th in the all time money list, surpassing $50m in on-course earnings alone.

Jordan Spieth wears the latest version of his signature shoe from Under Armour, the Spieth 5. Of course he has worn every shoe from his line for a long time and the 5 is no exception as it continues the development and thinking of the brand in the golf shoe market. 

It is the fifth iteration of Under Armour’s signature shoe designed with insights from Jordan Spieth himself as well as leading biomechanist JJ Rivet to unlock new levels of performance and comfort.

When released, the chief design feature to mention is the internal traction, which manifests itself in the form of a new and unique 3D moulded footbed that features an additional wrap over the inside and top of the foot. This creates a fit that is tailored to your specific foot shape.

In our testing of the spikeless version, the grip impressed us as well, in fact, levels of traction seemed to be close to that of some cleated shoes. The Spieth 5 SL has firmer TPU nubs for ground penetration and softer rubber nubs in key areas to create friction, something we noticed testing when the ground was slightly damp.

Overall whilst it felt unique at first, the shoe performed brilliantly which explains why it made our best golf shoes guide, and also why it got five stars in our review.

In January 2013, when Jordan Spieth was just 19-years-old, Under Armour made the American the face of their golf clothing range. Not only that, but before Spieth had even won his first Major championship, the then 21-year-old had been given a brand new 10-year contract, securing him to Under Armour till 2025.

Teeing off in 2021, Spieth will don the traditional Under Armour clothing, which incorporates and embraces an understated look with lots of block colours.

On Thursday, after wearing a couple of outlandish designs on practice days, he opted for a simple black seamless polo. As you would expect with Under Armour there is lots of technology involved in relation to breathability and comfort, but one construction element we should definitely mention is the nearly sew-free design to eliminate chafing.

He then had the Hollen Stripe polo on for Friday which we recently reviewed. We thought it was packed with some brilliant technologies aimed at helping you in hot conditions. The Iso-Chill fabric really does seem to work and help to keep you cooler, and the sun protection and anti-odour technology are excellent additions.

Under Armour Storm Gore-Tex Paclite Waterproof Suit Review

Under Armour is fast-becoming one of the most popular golf apparel brands when it comes to polo shirts and trousers but it looks to have made a statement in the outerwear sector too with its new Storm Gore-Tex Paclite jacket and trousers.

Gore has long set the standard when it comes to waterproof protection with its Gore-Tex membrane, an unseen layer that keeps water out but allows perspiration to escape from inside for maximum comfort.

We traveled to Gore’s HQ in the US to test Under Armour’s suit in its state-of-the-art rain tower and environmental chamber, which simulate realistic rainfall and wind/temperature to various degrees respectively.

Even in their extremes, we hardly felt the wind on our body and no water got in through the suit – we were completely bone dry underneath even after a prolonged soaking. We then took it to the course back in the UK, thankfully on a windy, showery day - ideal to fully test what the suit is like in a golf environment.

Under Armour’s Storm Gore-Tex Paclite suit also benefits from its own Storm DWR (Durable Water Resistant) finish, which ensures that water beads off the material when it lands to stop you getting cold and excess weight building up.

UA has added lots of nice, golf-specific touches to the jacket, most notably the soft foam collar, which you’re happy to let sit close to your neck to stop the rain entering inside the suit because it feels so soft.

There are also adjustable Velcro cuffs and an elasticated drawstring on the waist to help get a more tailored fit. Even with a tighter fit, don’t assume your swing will be impeded as the stretchy material allows for nearly zero restriction as you move.

This is helped by the fact it is Paclite, which means the material is incredibly thin, allowing it to be folded down compactly for storage in the smallest of spaces in your golf bag when the rain stops.

We also like how the zips clamp down to sit close to the chest and not wiggle around when you’re addressing the ball.

The matching trousers are also packed with useful features, like an elastic/Velcro adjuster on the waist as well as a popper/zip combo on the ankles to ensure they’re easy to get on and off but also stop water from entering down the tops of your shoes.

The styling is also much improved – it’s more subtle and premium this time around with flashes of UA branding up the chest. There are two colours to choose from – black and a light blue while the trousers just come in black.
