But having the remote control and the Follow function gives me the perfect blend of everything.”

As a regular carrier of a bag, Dan could certainly feel the difference between using the Q Follow for 18 holes versus carrying a full bag of 14 clubs.

“My shoulders feel better and I generally just feel a lot freer. My back feels great too as you don’t have to put your bag on your back after every shot. I feel fresher for sure.”

Our next tester James Earwicker (hcp 17) primarily uses a push trolley when he plays golf as he carries a lot of extra accessories in his bag that lead it to becoming heavy.

His first experience with the Q Follow really opened up his eyes to the extent to which actually pushing a push trolley exerts a lot of energy.

“What I’ve noticed with the Q Follow is it's taken a lot of effort out of pushing the trolley. It's versatile, easy to move and really easy to get used to the controls.”

Stability was one thing James was most curious about when comparing the Q Follow to his push trolley.

“I was impressed with how stable it was across rough terrain,” James explained. “There’s lots of tree roots, gravel and uneven paths here and I’m surprised how well it's taken to the terrain - it never looked like tipping over once.”

James’ peace of mind when using the Q Follow was thanks to its purpose-built chassis with a low centre of gravity that means uneven surfaces and any other natural humps and bumps expected on a golf course are confidently traversed.

The rear stabiliser, which incorporates two dual-ball bearing wheels, allows the Q Follow to go up steep inclines without the threat of tipping over backwards. This gave our testers the real freedom to walk the course with the confidence the trusty Q Follow was behind them at a safe distance.

Our final tester, Dave Walters (hcp 9), has been using an electric trolley ever since a back injury curtailed his ability to carry.

“It’s so different to my current electric trolley and I love how it totally takes my mind off my bag and clubs and I can just send it on its way from tee to green as I walk ahead of it.”

“My first electric trolley had such limited functionality compared to the Q Follow and being able to test this has fully converted me. It's the future.”

After a successful 18 holes at West Hill, all three of our testers seemed to have been won over by the Q Follow’s innovative and easy-to-use features.

While all three of them arrived at West Hill Golf Club using different methods to transport their clubs, it seems they have all left convinced the Q Follow is the way forward.

Get your hands on your very own Stewart Golf Q Follow: UK Buy Now US Buy Now

By pushing the boundaries of design and innovation, the Stewart Golf Q Follow electric trolley is proving to be a huge hit among golfers around the world

Why The Q Follow Is Taking The Electric Trolley Market By Storm

Of all the technological advancements in the game over the last few years, nothing quite rivals the improvements witnessed in the electric trolley category. Stewart Golf has a track record of defying convention and in its Q Follow you have one of the most cutting-edge products on the market.

Stewart Golf’s all-new flagship model does exactly what the name suggests – it follows you as you play, allowing you to focus on your golf and enjoy unparalleled freedom on the course. In short, it gives you a pro-like experience. Such was the enjoyment we had when using it, a place in our Editors' Choice 2021 Awards was a worthy accolade, but what makes this electric trolley such a joy to use?

All of its unique functionality stems from a handset, which connects to the trolley via Bluetooth and has a 50-metre range. When this handset is in close proximity to the trolley, which is known as the Neutral zone, the trolley will stay stationary. Once you’ve hit your shot and you walk on, you step into the Active Zone and, if you’re in Follow mode, the trolley will follow behind.

Of course, there are times when golfers want to take more direct control of their trolley – it is, after all, a valuable piece of kit. In Remote mode, you can negotiate tight spots, such as bridges and car parks, with ease and confidence.

This functionality is really useful in other situations, too. For example, if you stray into the trees or long rough – as we all do over the course of a round – you can leave the trolley on the fairway, play your shot and use the remote to guide it up to your new position.

WATCH: Three Golfers Try The Q Follow For The First Time

No matter where you play and what terrain you encounter, it’s hard not to be impressed with how the trolley reacts, and when the Q Follow does track you down the fairway, it does so at your walking pace and at a safe distance, even when going down slopes. It doesn’t take long to get used to the handset and switching between the modes soon becomes second nature. In fact, in time, you’ll probably find yourself shaving time off your rounds given how simple it is to guide the trolley around the greens and ahead to the next tee.

Such impressive functionality should come as no surprise. The British brand, which is owned and run by engineers, is ahead of the game when it comes to innovation and golfers have taken to it, converting intrigue into sales. As well as almost doubling the number of staff at the company, they are also adding a further 3500sqft of floor space to allow the creation of dedicated Q, X and R Series production lines as well as a second electronics assembly area to keep up with increased demand.

One of the most impressive design features is the retractable stabiliser, which automatically deploys as the trolley is unfolded. Equipped with two dual-bearing, free rolling wheels and with supreme natural balance, you can always be confident that all your golf gear is safe and secure.

With this guaranteed peace of mind, you’re able to focus on what matters most – your golf. Whether you’re having a chat with your friends, marking your scorecard or taking in the surroundings, there really is no need to worry about where your cart and bag is – and who knows how much better you might play with that unwanted distraction?

Stewart Golf’s hand built trolleys aren’t just popular around the world because of their unique design and functionality. Boosting the Q Follow’s appeal further still are the looks. Its microcellular composite material, which helps make the frame design stiffer and stronger for greater stability, also gives the trolley a marble effect. Along with the carbon fibre effect wheel arches, it looks like a machine sent back from the future.

“The Q Series was four years in development and all of our electric trolleys have been designed with performance and stability as express priorities, which differs from most other remote machines on the market that are derived from ‘single motor’ versions, Mark Stewart, CEO of Stewart Golf, explains. “If you’re 50m away from the trolley you need to be confident that it’s as stable as possible.”

“The Q Follow frees you up from being permanently attached to your trolley. This allows you to walk freely and focus on your next shot - better for your back, your game and your whole golfing experience.”

Never mind the latest driver or eye-catching set of bladed irons, nothing will make you the envy of your weekend fourball quite like the Stewart Golf Q Follow. It’s fun to use and there really is nothing else like it on the market.

Get your hands on your very own Stewart Golf Q Follow: UK Buy Now US Buy Now

The wider front wheel base and overall design means it seems to hug the ground much better, to the point that you really don’t need to worry about it tipping over.

Depending on the course design, you should be able to use the Follow mode for the majority of your round, but you can easily switch to the Remote mode for more precarious situations where you need to take more direct control – like going over narrow bridges – or if you simply want to see the trolley in front of you.

We also like how you can pair the battery to a smartphone app via Bluetooth to see exactly how much power is left and whether a top up is required.

The Q Follow looks to have become the leader in electric trolley design and functionality. It's great fun to use and truly unique meaning it will turn heads for the right reasons.

Stewart Golf Q Follow Trolley

This will make it the company’s most accurate and reliable Follow system yet thanks to its dedicated electronic calibration.

CEO Mark Stewart added: “Even after a very successful launch of the Q Follow, sales of the X Series have remained strong.

“In the refreshed X Series and new Q Series models, and the R Series Push, Stewart Golf has a strong product line-up for 2021 and beyond.”

And not content to sit still, the company is targeting further expansion having recently acquired more factory space and increased its workforce, with the emphasis on creating dedicated Q, X and R Series production lines.

For golfers in the market for a new trolley this year, the X10 Follow is available from £1,499 and the X10 Remote from £1,199.

The Stewart Golf Q Follow electric trolley unveiled today boasts an array of exciting new design features to enhance the on-course experience

Stewart Golf Q Follow Electric Trolley Unveiled

Stewart Golf has made some of the very best electric trolleys for many years now, becoming immensely popular around the world because of the unique design and functionality models like the X9 Follow offered. But the new Q Follow, which once again is handbuilt at the company’s Gloucestershire headquarters, takes this to a whole new level.

A completely new frame design allows it to fold down much more compactly while remaining easy to do so and with the battery in place. It will also now store vertically with an integrated carry handle to make it easier to lift into your car.

The majority of the frame is made from a microcellular composite material that has a high density skin that makes it stiffer and stronger than traditional mouldings. The technique also creates a marble effect that is unique to every Q Follow trolley. Carbon finishes on parts like the wheel arches bolster the premium appeal.

Stewart Golf Q Follow Electric Trolley Review

There’s also a new retractable stabiliser, which automatically deploys as the trolley is unfolded, equipped with two dual-bearing, free rolling wheels to keep the trolley moving more smoothly up steep slopes and prevent it from tipping over.

A new battery design with plug and play connection (no wires) works with new in-house designed EcoDrive motors that are better tuned to your walking pace, making them 40 per cent more efficient and ensuring 36 holes of battery life can be delivered, even on hilly courses.

The Follow functionality from which the trolley gets its name has also been improved with bigger magnetic zones creating smoother turns as the trolleys follows behind you from a safe distance, connected via the Bluetooth handset.

Golfers can also use the Remote function if they prefer or to take more direct control of the trolley in more risky situations, like going over narrow bridges.

Other design enhancements include a 10cm higher handle height, feature-packed handle console unit and the ability to pair the trolley to a free smartphone app to tell you exactly how much battery life you’ve got left.

The Stewart Golf Q Follow electric trolley is on sale now with an RRP of £1,749.

Golf Monthly's Stewart Golf X9 Follow trolley review, a cutting edge electric trolley that follows you around the course leaving you free to focus on your game

Stewart Golf X9 Follow Trolley Review

Aesthetics

1. Styling The unique chassis design gives a futuristic, high-end look, which is combined with sporty wheels with red receivers, reminiscent of brake discs on a sports car. It’s small touches like these that help the design stand out from the crowd and when we used it, it certainly turned a few heads in the car park and received a lot of interest.

2. Options The X9 Follow is made in Great Britain and available in three stock colour options; Metallic Silver, Metallic Black and Pearlescent White as featured in the video above.

Components

3. Battery The lightweight 12-volt Lithium battery is design to fit a Stewart trolley and comes with a two-year warranty. Golfers can now upgrade to an increased capacity battery, which provides around 40 per cent more power and should be enough to manage 36 holes on flat golf courses.

4. Handset The rechargeable handset connects with the trolley via Bluetooth, allowing for remote control, follow and manual capabilities at the touch of a button. It can easily be clipped on to your belt buckle or back pocket, as well as on to the trolley itself, to keep the movement of the trolley smooth when in Follow mode.

Technology

5. Operation When you press the ‘Follow’ button on the handset, the trolley will follow you when you begin walking and will match your walking pace, even down hills thanks to a sophisticated breaking system. When the handset is close to the trolley, say when you clip it to the handle to play your shot, it is inside a “neutral zone” and therefore the trolley remains stationary.

If you decide to purchase the X9, check out our Stewart Golf coupon codes.

The Stewart X9 Follow electric golf trolley

6. Steering The handset can also be used as a remote control, as with previous Stewart Golf electric trolleys. This allows the X9 Follow to be sent off to near the next tee as you approach the green or for it to meet you up the fairway after chipping out from the trees.

Performance

7. Control The unique nature of the Follow design means it does take a little bit of getting used to before you have complete confidence in it. Once you do that, though, you have the ability to walk the course hands-free, but with the benefits that using an electric trolley brings. This is as near as you can get to having a caddie without actually having one.

8. Ease of use It takes nine or so holes to learn when best to press the ‘Follow’ button, and to get used to clipping the remote on to your belt. After that, though, the technology is very easy to use and the hands-free nature of the function means you're free to take a drink of water, eat a snack or hold your umbrella on wet days. It's worth switching the manual or remote modes when walking on narrow paths or bridges to gain the extra control you need in these situations.

9. Chassis The design is very sturdy, and a stability bar means it will cope very well with hills and not tip over backwards. However, that stability makes it bigger than a lot of electric trolleys. There's also lots of holders for balls, pencils and tees on the handle, which is a nice touch.

10. Summary As expected, all this cutting edge technology comes with a relatively high price point but you are getting a lot for your money. There really is no other trolley like it and it genuinely makes using it a fun and enjoyable experience. You will be the envy of your golf club if you rock up to the first tee with the X9 Follow, for sure.

It's a design that also means that when folded it fits in your boot with plenty of room to spare. This unique design also keeps dirt and dust away from the mechanism and that should mean that it lasts longer than other trolleys.

The Stewart Golf R1-S Push also comes with a strap system that works brilliantly at holding bags in place, while a footbrake also secures it on hilly terrain.

While some will prefer a brake on the handle, the Stewart Golf designers tell us that a handle brake becomes slacker quicker because of the extra wiring, which is why they stuck with a foot version.

Golf Monthly Verdict

The Stewart Golf R1-S Push is an excellent model that only improves on the Stewart Golf R1 Push trolley. The folding mechanism should ensure that the trolley lasts for a long time, as there’s very little that can go wrong, while the folding and unfolding itself takes seconds and is very intuative. As one of the smallest trolleys on the market when folded, its compact size is also particularly impressive.

There are a few very minor quibbles. The console can get in the way of getting your clubs out of the bottom of your bag, while its shallow space doesn't hold as many items as some of its push trolley rivals. We also prefer using hand brakes to foot brakes, however, we can't argue with Stewart Golf's logic that less brake wiring in the frame means it will be more reliable and durable.

All in all this is a well thought out trolley that should be very high on your list to try.

If you choose to buy the R1-S Push, check out our Stewart Golf discount codes.

Stewart Golf has announced it will be making 200 Limited Edition R1 Push Platinum Trolleys

Stewart Golf R1 Push Platinum Trolley - Limited Edition

The production of the R1 Push Platinum Edition is limited to just 200 trolleys, which will all be built by hand in Great Britain.

Alongside the stylish platinum colour, the trolley also has a special ‘Platinum Edition’ badge.

CEO Mark Stewart said: “Building our trolleys in Great Britain affords us the flexibility of short production runs. The special platinum colour is being applied here in Gloucestershire by a powder coating specialist.

“The R1 Platinum Edition gives golfers a chance to own a very rare, hand built trolley without having to break the bank. Whilst being a distinctive colour, it’s neutral enough to work with most golf bags.”

Each R1 Push Platinum Edition is complete with a certificate signed by the technician who constructed the trolley, with details of its build rate and serial number.

Take a look at our review of the Stewart Golf R1 Push Trolley below

The new folding mechanism on the trolley is clever as it keeps all the moving parts inside the tubing and away from trouble, so it is well protected and should last a long time. This also makes it easier to set up.

The new straps are a huge improvement on the Stewart Z3 trolley and ensure that it’s the perfect fit for any bag.

Most importantly for a golfer, it’s very easy to push around the course.

However, there is always something that manages to concern golfers. Many prefer a handbrake to a footbrake. The designers decided not to go with a handle break as they become slacker quicker due to extra wiring.

Overall our verdict is that it is a great choice for those after a high quality model and most importantly it is a trolley you can strut around with pride.

The R1 Platinum Edition is now on sale with deliveries to begin in December.

This makes it 33 per cent smaller than the Stewart Z Series when folded and, as you can see below, this means it fits in your boot with plenty of room to spare. This unique design also keeps dirt and dust away from the mechanism and that should mean that it lasts as long, if not longer, than any other trolley. The Stewart Golf R1 Push is designed to hold any type of bag firmly in place, this is achieved thanks to a new strap system that works brilliantly at holding. A footbrake secures the trolley on hilly ground. While some will prefer a break on the handle, the Stewart designers tell us that a handle break becomes slacker quicker because of the extra wiring, which is why they stuck with a foot version.

Stewart Golf R1 Push trolley folded in boot

Golf Monthly verdict

The Stewart Golf R1 Push is an excellent push trolley that features noticeable improvements compared to the previous Stewart model. The new folding mechanism should ensure that the trolley lasts for a long time, as there’s very little that can go wrong. The folding and unfolding mechanism is both quick and easy. The compact size when folded is particularly impressive when you consider the size of the unit when it is ready for play and the storage space available. A well thought out trolley that should be very high on your list if you want a high quality push design. The Stewart Golf Z3 was an impressive performer but the R1 Push takes push trolley design forward once again.

Stewart Golf R1 Push trolley in play

Its current retail price is £199.
