Top of most people’s shopping list when investing in a new pair of golf shoes is comfort. Skechers is a brand that had quickly become renowned for out of the box comfort that lasts, and its 2024 GO GOLF range is proof of that. However, we still wanted to put that reputation to the test. In order to see for ourselves, we invited three Golf Monthly readers down to the London Club to play and walk two rounds on the 6771 yard Heritage course.

Rupert Chitty (8 handicap), Ian MIller (12 handicap) and Sue Clowes (17 handicap) were each tasked with scoring as many Stableford points as they could across the 36 holes, all while testing two brand-new pairs of Skechers GO GOLF shoes. All three were wearing Skechers golf shoes for the very first time, so it was going to be interesting to hear their first impressions walking a tough course twice in a day. 

Headlining the men’s range this year is the Skechers GO GOLF Blade GF Slip-in and both Rupert and Ian wore the hero model during their first round of the day. The shoe boasts Skechers’ proprietary Slip-in technology, which is designed to allow golfers to seamlessly slide their foot into the shoe without having to bend down to adjust the heel. Backed by the cushioned Heel Pillow, it offers an easy way of taking the shoes on and off while offering support and comfort around an often problematic area of the shoe. 

After the group’s opening 18 holes, it was clear the GO GOLF range had already won over our first-time wearers. Both Rupert and Ian wore the GO GOLF Blade GF for the first round. ‘First of all, I really, really like the look of them especially in this white and blue colourway,’ Ian commented on the Blade GF. ‘They look smart yet athletic but also really stand out.’ Rupert was similarly impressed with the looks and performance it offered. ‘The Slip-in technology means they’re so easy to get in and out of. They’re seriously comfortable too, I really felt like I was bouncing down the fairways. 

After round one, Rupert, Ian and Sue were on 30, 26 and 22 points respectively. As they prepared for their second round, they all switched into a different pair of shoes with Rupert and Ian changed into the GO GOLF Pro 6 and GO GOLF Max 3 respectively, while Sue tested the GO GOLF Walk 5 Slip-ins. 

The GO GOLF Pro 6 were the only spiked pair on test for the 36 holes, and they became a quick favourite for Rupert in his second round. ‘These are awesome. I like the look of them and the spiked outsole was certainly confidence inspiring. The Arch Fit was a pleasant addition to this shoe too, and kept my feet from feeling fatigued as we went into the second round’ 

Sue, who was testing the women’s GO GOLF Elite 5 Slip-ins in her first round and the Walk 5 Slip-ins in her second round was thoroughly impressed with her first time wearing Skechers shoes. ‘I found both pairs so comfortable with plenty of cushioning all around my feet. I thought of Skechers shoes initially as more of a leisure shoe, but the stability from both pairs really took me by surprise today and it breathed confidence through my game in general.’ 

In the end, it was Sue who scored the most points on the day, collecting 60 across the two rounds, but all three played some excellent golf across the day. Indeed both Sue and Ian improved on their final round, showing just how well they got on wearing the 2024 GO GOLF range and that the comfort and support the shoes offered allowed them to play their very best golf right to the end of the day.

Skechers is a brand that is renowned for producing comfortable shoes and as the name suggests, the Go Golf Elite 5 Slip In is designed to give women virtually hands-free access and a precise fit. Did they stand up to the test as being one of the best women's spikeless shoes on the market?

I must confess to being more of a lace up sort of person, so I was curious when I first saw these shoes, which have a twist fit dial closure on the side. I'm sure many women will appreciate this ease of use to allow the most comfortable fit. I don't have problem feet, so in particular, Skechers' Arch Fit podiatrist-certified support, was of no benefit to me.

I played two rounds wearing these shoes, and given the esteemed reputation of Skechers, the material was not quite as soft as I expected. Perhaps my expectations were too high!  

What I did like was the color, can’t get away from black and white Skechers. These also have a splash of hot pink, which is a favorite color combination of mine, and two other color options are available in this model. The way the outer looks didn’t appeal to me because the material looks slightly more plastic than other Skechers I have seen, and I may have left the slip-ins sewed on sticker off the side. 

If you need a lot of foot support, find it hard to bend and don’t want to or can’t flex your foot through the swing then these shoes are probably perfect. They are extremely sturdy and the can be wiped of mud without staining. 

The spikeless outsole did allow me to feel planted to the ground, so the grip was notably good. Skechers are on the wider side and I imagine that I am describing someone's perfect shoe! But for me, I actually found it restrictive in my play.

If I take my personal needs out of it, this is a solid shoe that comes with a one-year waterproof protection warranty and will make the long walk more comfortable whilst being easy to slip on and off.

There’s nothing more pleasing than slipping a shoe on and instantly feeling comfortable on the course. This third generation Skechers GO Golf Max women’s golf shoe certainly puts a big tick in that box and is one of the best women’s golf shoes of this year.

It’s packed with patented technologies (Soft Stride & ULTRA Flight) that give it an ultra-lightweight cushioned feel. I literally felt like I was walking on air with a spring in my step as I strode up the fairways wearing this shoe. When it comes to the most comfortable golf shoes for women this offering from Skechers has to be in the conversation.

The shape of the sole is the result of extensive podiatrist-designer input and has been developed with 20 years of data and 120,000 unweighted foot scans. With such knowledge at their design fingertips it’s fair to say that these shoes will fit any foot shape with ease, which is something that pleased me as I really struggle with my wide feet and sore bunions. 

The super soft insole also moulds to your foot to reduce shock and increase weight dispersion. I felt really grounded at address and throughout my swing, just like wearing a really supportive pair of trainers. It’s also great that you can remove the inner sole and pop it through the wash, keeping odour at bay and preserving the longevity of the shoes.

The Skechers Go Golf Max 3 is made from waterproof material with a one-year warranty, so your feet will stay dry even when caught out in a heavy downpour or if walking through deep rough wet from the morning dew, so I would class these among the best waterproof golf shoes for women.

I love the pretty floral pattern detail at the back and the soft pastel colour palette. Even the black option looks summery with the flowery back, giving any outfit a dash of designer touch. All in all, a very solid all around golf shoe.

Skechers shoes have always come top (or very near the top) of our testing when it comes to the most comfortable golf shoes on the market. In recent years, especially since signing Matt Fitzpatrick as an ambassador, it's also been working on making some stylish offerings too. The latest in its wide range is this, the Go Golf Blade GF Slip-ins. Using many of the brand's wealth of proprietary tech, it's the shoe of choice for Fitzpatrick this year, so I was exited to see what it was all about on the course. 

While it doesn’t actually use the brand’s patented Arch Fit technology, there is still lots of arch support in the Blade. As someone who is slightly flat footed, any extra arch support is very much welcomed and it really helps reduce foot fatigue after walking 18 holes. Also present is the brand’s Slip-in technology which we first tried on last year’s Go Golf Elite 5 shoes. Slip-in technology means there’s no fighting with the shoe around the heel area when you try and put it on. The heel area is built to be incredibly rigid, allowing you to put weight through it and for the foot to slide in. Rigid though this area is, its complimented by what is called a Heel Pillow, which is an incredibly soft and cushioned area directly where the heel sits. It’s the most comprehensive padding and cushioning I’ve ever tested on a shoe in this particular area on the foot, so if you struggle from time to time with aching or rubbing in this area, these shoes will have you covered. 

Great though the slip in technology is, it feels wasted on shoes that have normal laces - they’re not truly ‘hands free’ as the brand suggests. On last years Elite 5 Slip-ins which used a twist lace system, there was a greater argument that these shoes were truly hands free. That being said, the slip in technology is a useful one if you find shoes tricky to get on - these do slide on incredibly easily. 

The outsole is 'technically' a spikeless one, although it employs a hybrid of nubs and more traditional looking integrated spikes, which I was impressed with. The integrated soft spikes sit on the outside heel and inside toe of the outsole, which are areas where golfers need grip the most during the swing. It made for a very convincing sensation as I unloaded through my golf swing and I had the confidence to really swing fast in these. 

As for looks, I wasn’t particularly enamored with the Blade GF. There’s this rather bizarre shiny finish on the upper of all of the four colorways in the shoe, one that I don’t quite understand the purpose of. It comes up much less on the white shoes but on the black it makes the finish look like it has an unnecessary sheen to it. I suspect it's part of the waterproofing - this shoe is 100% waterproof - but there are plenty of other shoes that are fully waterproof without this. 

I’m also really not a fan of shoes with graphics or writing on. These feature a ‘SKX’ print on the side of the shoes as well as ‘Skechers Slip-ins’ toward the heel, niether of which do anything to add to the premium price tag placed on this shoe. In short, it’s not Skechers’ finest looking shoe and it’s a disappointing step back from the Pro 5 Hyper from a few years ago. It goes the same for the latest Under Armour Drive Pro SL which has unnecessary graphics on it. 

I’d also recommend getting these shoes in an extra half size bigger than you normally would. Unlike Skechers shoes of the past, the toe area was a little cramped for space in my normal size and I expect half a size extra will give the room needed for a more comfortable fit. The RRP of £160 feels a little steep for these shoes. That’s the same price as the Adidas Tour360 24 and Ecco LT1 which both utilise far more premium materials throughout. It makes the likes of the Under Armour Drive Pro and Nike Infinity Next% 2 cheaper too, which I'd probably spend my money on ahead of these. 

However if comfort is the absolute top of your list when it comes to a golf shoe, Skechers has once again nailed the brief. Those who are a bit flat footed will really appreciate added arch support while the heel pillow is the best construction in a golf shoe that protects and comforts the often problematic heel area. 

Skechers Go Golf Elite 5 Slip 'In Shoe Review

My first impressions in terms of the looks were that these shoes didn’t scream ‘premium’ – and they’re by no means inexpensive (RRP around the $180 mark). Maybe it because I was trialling the black pair (I really like the grey/green, which, in my opinion has a more premium look), but they just didn’t immediately appeal from an aesthetics standpoint.

What Skechers has earned a reputation for – and this applies right across the best Skechers golf shoes – is supreme levels of comfort. I've played in a wide selection of models in recent years, and this pair is definitely one of most comfortable golf shoes that I've worn.

I’ve never put on a pair of golf shoes before without carefully avoiding applying too much pressure on the back, obviously for fear of causing lasting damage. With the Skechers Go Golf Elite 5 Slip 'In shoes, and courtesy of an extra stiff back, this is not a problem – they slip on just like a pair of comfy slippers – and they feel just as good. So, no shoe horn required. 

I’m fortunate to not experience back pain, yet, but I imagine this will be a very appealing feature for anyone who does, and would rather avoid bending down too much if at all possible. It also makes the transition from the car to the course even more seamless, saving valuable minutes for those who always seem to be in a rush to make their tee time.

Meanwhile, the Twist-Fit dial system located on the side makes them easy to fasten. Again, I can see the appeal for those who suffer with a stiff back in the morning, as there’s no need to struggle with lacing up, plus you haven't got to worry about the laces gradually loosening over time and needing to be retied at the most inconvenient of moments. 

You can’t talk about Skechers without mentioning the removable Arch Fit insole, which provides podiatrist-certified arch support. Combined with the Heel Pillow, you’re guaranteed a comfortable and ‘locked in’ feel, which is something we also experienced when testing the Pro 5 Hyper shoe worn by Matt Fitzpatrick.

These shoes may not look like they would be able to withstand too much rain, but they boast impressive waterproof protection and come with a one-year warranty for peace of mind.  This pair had its first outing on a very wet day at Essendon Country Club (I've since played four more rounds in them), and despite some very heavy downpours, they remained dry and comfortable throughout the day. That said, I still wouldn't regard them as a winter golf shoe designed for sustained periods of wet weather. 

Grip-wise, I didn’t experience any problems with traction, even in really wet conditions. For me, if you don’t find yourself talking about the grip, you don’t have any problems. The anti-rotational spikes and horizontal set spikes do the job of keeping you nice and stable throughout the swing.

Visually, this golf shoe might not appeal to everyone, but the superb comfort on offer and the practicality of this clever design will undoubtedly appeal to a lot of golfers. I play a lot of links golf and definitely see myself wearing these when the ground is hard at the height of summer in the UK. They feel extremely light, too, which is just what you want in warm conditions. 

Whether walking, running or playing golf, Skechers has always put huge emphasis on making shoes as comfortable as possible, and without doubt this is testament to the brand’s continued growth in popularity. When Skechers first entered the golf market, there were only a handful of women’s models to choose from, but whatever the season, it’s a different story nowadays, and they feature among some of the best golf shoes on the market.

Whilst the Go Golf Elite 4 Hyper shoe can be worn year-round, it is essentially a winter golf shoe with waterproof protection that comes with a one-year warranty. It is available in a white/navy option, but the slate or black/rose gold colour options are far more suitable for wintry conditions.

I tested this leather shoe in slate, which is an understated but lovely colour, and when you look closely, the side panels provide a two-tone effect in a slightly darker shade of blue/grey. On the outside of each shoe is a shiny silver ‘S’ to distinguish the brand, which adds a nice touch to what is otherwise a fairly safe looking shoe compared with other shoes on the market from brands such as adidas, Ecco or Duca del Cosma.

Whilst the quality of the design gives an immediate impression of a robust and highly durable shoe, the Go Golf Elite 4 Hyper feels as light as a feather. Compared with other size 6 shoes, for me Skechers come up a tad bigger, but over 18 holes the size did not compromise the comfort that Skechers is renowned for.

A lightweight foam called Hyper Burst combined with a Goga Max insole is what provides notable cushioning and allows for a spongy and easy walk, and it is also worth mentioning the soft padding around the ankle. The ground was damp underfoot, but the grip of this spikeless golf shoe from tee to green was good.

The Go Golf Elite 4 Hyper Shoe is a top-of-the range model from Skechers autumn/winter collection, but given the quality and protection on offer, it’s a highly competitive price and a good investment if you want a pair of the best women's waterproof golf shoes.  

Can the right pair of golf shoes help you play better golf for longer? It might be a bold claim, but is having the right pair of shoes on your feet is as important as having the right set of clubs? To put this claim to the test, we teamed up with Skechers to put four Golf Monthly readers through the ultimate test of walking on the golf course: a 36-hole match on the International Course at the London Club. Skechers is the brand of choice for golf's newest Major winner, Matt Fitzpatrick, who wore the Skechers Go Golf Pro 5 Hyper en-route to his US Open title. Each of our players tested two pairs of the 2022 Skechers Go Golf range to truly get an understanding of how important a comfortable pair of golf shoes are to playing your best. 

Decked out in the new Skechers range, our four participants, Caroline Cruse (Hcp 8), Ben Dillon, (Hcp 15), Steve Wilson (Hcp 15) and Simon James (Hcp 7), played in a better ball match across the day to really understand how a comfortable, reliable pair of golf shoes can keep them playing their best golf right to the very end.  The teams for the match would pit Caroline and Ben against Steve and Simon and all four were confident that they would come out on top. 

Team Caroline and Ben were excited for their match and had high expectations for the shoes after their first impressions. “My first impressions out of the box were great,” Caroline commented, who was testing the Go Golf Walk 5 and Go Golf Elite Tour SL. “They’re both really lightweight, I slipped straight into them out of the box and I’m impressed with the support too so I think they’ll be great for a 36 hole walk. I love the contrasting colours in the women’s shoes and its nice to have some good colour instead of just the classic white.”

Ben was similarly impressed with his two pairs, the Go Golf Drive 5 and Go Golf Elite 4 Victory. “I can’t wait to play 36 holes, my first impressions of the shoes is that they look fantastic, I love the overall styling of both pairs. The spikeless outsoles look like they’re really going to give a comfortable but grippy walk out there too which is something I prioritise in a shoe.”

With first impressions high amongst the group, it was time to head out onto the course. It’s a significant walk around the hilly London Club and it was a perfect day for golf too. After testing their first pairs of Skechers shoes across 18 holes, Steve and Simon found themselves 2up in the match. 

Steve was wearing the spikeless Go Golf Drive 5 and was amazed with how immediately comfortable they were on course. “I’ve not played as consistently as I’d have liked to on the first 18, but my partner is keeping us in it! The Drive 5 shoes I wore were really comfortable and they felt like an old pair of shoes after just one hole of walking - no breaking in whatsoever.”After 36 holes of golf and eight pairs of shoes tested, there was one stand-out feature noticed by our group. Skechers Arch Fit technology is an insole system with podiatrist certified arch support and all four players got to experience this. 

Simon, who also wore the Drive 5 as well as the Go Golf Torque Pro, loved how the technology felt as soon as he put the shoes on. “While they felt initially strange to begin with, I thought Arch Fit was brilliant. I tend to collapse the inside of my foot and Arch Fit really helped support that and kept me comfortable. I felt a lot more fresh after 36 holes that I thought I would.”

Caroline was similarly impressed with Arch Fit, “Not only were my Walk 5 shoes really breathable and lightweight but the Arch Fit added a new level of comfort. It really supports the arches on your feet and kept fatigue at bay. It’s a strange feeling at first but one I’d highly recommend people trying.” In the end, Simon and Steve were our winners and beat Caroline and Ben 3&1. It was an excellent match in perfect conditions and all four of our players were able to play their very best golf right to the end thanks to their new Skechers Go Golf shoes.

The Skechers Go Golf Prestige is another classic-looking shoe that more than passes the eye test. Beyond its appearance, it delivers excellent arch support and is ideal for players with flat feet who often struggle to get through 18 holes without discomfort.

The Arch Fit system is a genuine game-changer for golfers with lower arches, providing the gentle support and midfoot lift necessary to reduce fatigue and alleviate common aches. This structural support is further enhanced by Skechers’ Slip-in technology and the Heel Pillow feature, which ensure the shoes are as easy to step into in the locker room as they are comfortable to wear during a round.

This is yet another impressive offering from Skechers who have really upped their game in terms of golf shoes in the last number of years and impressed us so much that they earned a spot on our Editor's Choice awards list for 2025. They are without doubt one of the best Skechers golf shoes and one of the best value golf shoes of the year, too.

Best slip in

Skechers has long been a heavyweight in the comfort department, but their recent trajectory has seen a significant push into the realm of high-end golf fashion. Much of this style evolution has been driven by their partnership with ambassador Matt Fitzpatrick, whose influence is clearly visible in the brand's newer silhouettes. A prime example is the Blade shoe, the shoe 'Fitzy' wears on tour.

This is a shoe built for comfort rather than style - one can argue why the brand can't do both, we but you know what you get with Sketchers and I can commend them on not trying to be something they aren't in this regard. While it may not feature the Arch Fit technology that Skechers is known for, the arch support is still very good. Our favorite feature of this shoe is the Slip-in design. The heel area is built to be incredibly rigid, allowing you to put weight through it and for the foot to slide in. Rigid though this area is, its complimented by what is called a Heel Pillow, which is an incredibly soft and cushioned area directly where the heel sits. This was my biggest take away during testing as someone with rather sharp heels that cause me discomfort from time to time on the course.

As a result, the Blade offers the most comprehensive padding and cushioning in the heel area of any shoe we have tested, which will be music to the ears of golfers who get pain or blisters in this area. 100% waterproofing also stood up to the tests when we tried these shoes in wet conditions, as did the hybrid sole featuring some spikes and a mostly rubber spikeless design. Despite the wet conditions, we never slipped nor felt like we didn't have grip with the ground beneath us.

Most comfortable

Skechers are one of the most well known show manufacturers in the world and they produce some of the best golf shoes around. The Go Golf Elite 5 Slip 'In Shoe is perhaps one of the coolest additions to the brand's excellent range of golf sneakers. While they don't scream premium, they offer a very cool sporty aesthetic and and in our opinion a versatile look that will look fantastic both on the golf course and when worn out-and-about in your day-to-day life.

If you like your fashion with the smallest of fuss, you'll like these shoes. They slipped on quickly and easily for me during my first round of testing which isn't always the case with new shoes, but they slipped on just like a comfy pair of slippers and felt just as nice. That makes them one of the best golf shoes for seniors, with it taking just a few seconds to kneel down and slip these shoes on and off. Additionally, the Twist-Fit dial system located on the side makes them easy to fasten. Again, we can see the appeal for those who suffer with a stiff back in the morning, as there’s no need to struggle with lacing up, plus you haven't got to worry about the laces gradually loosening over time and needing to be retied at the most inconvenient of moments.

What's even better is that these shoes come with a removable Arch Fit insole that helps to deliver podiatrist-certified support to the balls of your feet. I also felt that I was locked into the ground thanks to the comfortable but stable Heel Pillow. These may not be the most durable of golf shoes like the best winter golf shoes but they offered impressive waterproofing and a one-year warranty to boot which speaks volumes of how confident Sketchers are with the quality of their product.

Best versatility

The Skechers Men's Go Golf Drive 5 Golf Shoe are arguably the best looking shoes in this guide thanks to the relaxed design and the presence of the Arch Fit technology which is visible from the outside. As a result, there is a load of cushioning and comfort on offer here - these shoes felt like slippers the moment we put them on and didn't rub at my heels despite playing multiple rounds in them.

100% waterproofing held up in the inclement weather during one round of testing and whilst the shoes kept us grippy and secure despite the wet conditions under foot. The lack of spikes on the shoe and its cool style mean it is a very versatile on-course/off-course shoe that can also help improve your playing performance. For that reason, the Skechers Men's Go Golf Drive 5 Golf Shoe is one of the best spikeless golf shoes on the market.

Of course, not everyone will like the looks on offer here, but again I'll reiterate that Sketcher don't see themselves as a fashion brand and more so a brand that deliver excellent levels of quality and comfort with their products. If you value that more than the looks on offer, these are well worth a try.

Best grip

A former member of our Editor's Choice list upon their release, we couldn't give any more compliments to the Pro Golf 5 Hyper shoe if we tried. It takes comfort to a new level by incorporating Skechers Arch Fit technology that provides podiatrist certified support to your feet, with cushioning across the midsole. I thought this made the shoe one of the most comfortable golf shoes on this list.

Again, the Sketchers Arch Fit technology is present and designed to reduce pressure on your foot by redistributing said pressure to wider parts of the shoe, reducing fatigue. Admittedly, it's a weird feeling if you've never tried on a pair of Sketchers shoes with the technology in them - it feels like the arches of your feet are being pushed up. However, after a few minutes it becomes a very familiar but enjoyable sensation beneath your feet.

The shoe also features Skechers Hyper Burst and Resamax cushioning, which work in tandem to provide exceptional energy return and a responsive feel with every step. The breathable mesh upper proved highly effective at maintaining airflow to keep feet cool during warmer rounds, while the Softspikes delivered the reliable, high-level traction needed for complete confidence in terms of grip.

Best shoe for women

The looks are classy, the traction is excellent and they're both waterproof and uber comfy - this made the Jasmine 2 shoes an easy choice for our top ladies shoe in this guide.

As with pretty much every Skechers shoe, there is only one place to start: comfort. There are a number of factors to consider when picking out your next pair of golf shoes, so let's take a look at them below.

When selecting a new pair of golf shoes, comfort should be a primary consideration given that you will likely be wearing them for four to five hours at a time, multiple times a week. It is essential to ensure that the footwear you choose provides a consistently pleasant experience on the course.

Beyond simple comfort, proper support is a critical factor for any golfer, particularly those who play frequently on undulating terrain. Navigating uneven fairways makes it remarkably easy to strain or twist an ankle if your footwear lacks the necessary structural integrity.

Skechers Women’s Go Golf Pro 2 Shoe Review

We test-drove the Charcoal and Pink (more manenta) colorway of the Skechers Go Golf Pro 2 shoe for women and were surprised at how much these shoes can lift an outfit. Admittedly when paired with the artistic prints of a Famara skort (featured in our Best Skorts Guide) the shoes were a match for the boldness. But if you wore these with a black golf dress they’d really make the get-up sing.

With four color combinations (Black/White, Charcoal/Pink, White/Navy, Navy/Turquoise) you have plenty of options. Although the whole Skechers range is worth checking out, you are spoilt for choice. 

It’s hard to really find anything wrong with these shoes, in fact like many of the shoes we feature in our best Women’s golf shoes guide, they all, as a whole, offer excellent qualities and minimal grumbling points. The only thing that made us go “whoah” with these charcoal ones was the colour of the laces, if you find the laces a bit garish then they are easily changeable. These have become a firm favourite in fact. The navy ones are very classy.

On first wearing these we thought the shoe might be a bit snug, Skechers however have an amazing way of almost moulding to your foot. This is down to the Ortholite foam insoles which are made from 5 percent recycled rubber. Before even making it to the course across the car park our worries were quashed as they are utterly sumptuous on. Whenever we wear a pair of Skechers shoes there's that feeling our feet are being pampered. It’s hard to then pop on a firmer leather shoe as they just don’t seem as bouncy. They are 100 percent waterproof thanks to the H2GO Shield waterproof protection that so many of the Skechers range offers. Durable smooth synthetic leather is super easy to wipe clean even after a few muddy outings. 

The removable spikes on these are from the awesome Softspikes family, a quick refresh of these and the shoes have out of the box traction again. These shoes boast a dynamic diamond-design traction plate outsole to ensure maximum grip and they don’t disappoint. The lacing system helps to hug your foot and delivers all round support, as feet got hot the shoe helped them maintain a pretty ambient temperature. These shoes offer fantastic benefit to your feet and if you have comfy feet during your round you're more likely to play better golf. 

Skechers Pro 5 Hyper Golf Shoe Review 

Skechers has been making some of the best golf shoes since I can remember, with the brand's key focus being on providing golfers with an extremely comfortable walk on the golf course. Since signing up US Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick as brand ambassador at the start of 2022, I think Skechers have made a concerted effort to appeal to the younger golfer while keeping it's classic customer base on side with some serious comfort and practicality. The Pro 5 Hyper is the brand's flagship spiked shoe for 2022 and - after carrying the US Open winner - I was excited to see how these shoes performed on course. 

Looks wise, I think Skechers is getting closer to the 'younger' and sportier look a lot of other brands are going down. For me, the Puma Ignite Articulate and adidas Tour 360 22 are more appealing, eye-catching shoes in this space of the golf shoe market, but that's no to say the Hyper 5 is an ugly shoe. I like the low profile nature of the outsole, the chunky sole and the way the blue of the outsole blends into the back of the shoe. I'm not so sure about the striped effect on the upper of the shoe, which in person makes it look like its wearing pinstripes. However, what I am a big fan of is how the brand has used blue on the outsole instead of white. A huge bug bear of mine is white shoes with white outsoles that get dirty and stained after just a few rounds. The blue here will disguise any ingrained dirt and keep the shoes looking fresher for longer. 

Moving away from aesthetics and Arch Fit technology is truly the stand out feature on this shoe and one I implore you to try out for yourself at some point. Arch Fit is used throughout the midsole of the shoe and is designed to reduce pressure on your foot by distributing weight over a wider area, thus reducing foot fatigue. Admittedly, it's a strange feeling at first as it feels like the arches of your feet are being pushed up, but I was soon very much used to - and enjoying - the sensation beneath my feet. Combined with the Resamax cushioning underfoot and it's easily the most comfortable golf shoe of the year underfoot. 

After testing this shoe over a number of rounds I can attest that Arch Fit really does aid in reducing foot fatigue. Having the weight more evenly distributed of your feet when you're walking really does stop aching, especially where you might tend to put too much pressure on a certain area.  It's worth noting that Arch Fit is available in a number of Skechers shoes from its 2022 range with the Go Golf Drive 5 offering the same benefits with a spikeless outsole. It is something truly unique to Skechers shoes and if you struggle with foot fatigue of plantar fascitiis I would seriously consider trying a pair of these for yourself. 

The spiked outsole on the Hyper 5 is as comprehensive and efficient as any other spiked shoe currently available. While the likes of the FootJoy Tour Alpha and Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 may have slightly more support around the sides of the feet through the golf swing, the Hyper 5 offered me plenty of grip. For me, Arch Fit alone makes this shoe a stand out option of current spiked golf shoes and one you should definitely try on at your local shop. If you're after a reliable workhorse of a golf shoe that was keep your feet relaxed and planted to the ground, the Pro 5 Hyper is an excellent choice. 

Skechers Go Golf Drive 5 Golf Shoe Review

Skechers has gained a reputation in recent years for making some of the best golf shoes on the market, with ‘out of the box’ comfort ranking high among the brand’s claims. But can that really be true? It’s certainly not always the case with golf shoes, which can sometimes take a little coaxing in.

But in Skechers' case, it invariably is, with certain models ranking among the most comfortable golf shoes out there. And it's certainly true of the new Go Golf Drive 5, a versatile, casual, waterproof, spikeless golf shoe that provides a relaxed fit, with the Arch Fit insole system offering podiatrist-certified arch support.

One of the key considerations with even the best spikeless golf shoes is how well they perform when the elements conspire against you. Everything got put to the test the day we trialled the Go Golf Drive 5 as the heavens opened halfway through our round, allowing us to fully test all the shoe’s performance credentials (the photos were taken earlier in the day before the weather took a turn!).

Let’s address the issue of comfort first, for if your golf shoes prove uncomfortable in any way, it can have the ability to distract your focus away from the key task in hand of hitting golf shots. The ample cushioning on offer here, particularly around the heel section, meant that they almost felt like slippers the moment we put them on. We have occasionally in the past had issues with the heel section in Skechers' golf shoes sitting a little too high, but not so here – the Go Golf Drive 5 is supremely comfortable to walk and play in.

Are they waterproof? Most definitely, and we should know, having endured something of a deluge in our early evening round, the like of which would certainly have exposed any weaknesses in that department. But our socks remained completely dry.

The rainfall also gave us the perfect opportunity to check the shoe’s grip properties, and again, it passed with flying colours. Indeed, the first thing that caught our eye when we opened the box was the Goodyear branding on the striking red pimpled sole. It sounds like a perfect collaboration for grip when you think about it, and so it would prove, with no sliding issues even in conditions where you might perhaps expect the odd foot slip.

Skechers hails this a versatile on-course/off-course shoe and we certainly wouldn’t disagree with that – it has a contemporary, if perhaps slightly 'safe', look that wouldn’t look out of place on the High Street or down the pub. However, the raised pimples on the sole do mean you stand a little higher to the ground than usual when walking on hard surfaces or paving slabs, which takes a little getting used to.

Overall, a decent-looking shoe that does everything it sets out to do on the course, adapts well to off-course wear and comes in at well under three figures if you shop around, representing decent value for a waterproof, part-leather golf shoe.

PGA Tour star Matt Fitzpatrick has teamed up with Skechers in a new golf shoe deal. The 27-year-old has signed a multi-year worldwide deal with the California-based footwear company that will see him wear the brand’s GO Golf Pro 5 Hyper footwear and sport the Skechers logo on his headwear.

The Englishman explained that as well as wearing the brand's golf shoes, he also hoped to use the partnership to help the company innovate. He said: “I’ve been wearing and testing Skechers GO GOLF for some time now, and this innovative footwear offers the comfort and performance that I need on the course. Now that this partnership is official, I look forward to representing the brand on tour and working with Skechers on ideas and innovations that can help players at all levels with their game.”

President of Skechers Michael Greenberg is equally delighted about the deal and said Fitzpatrick’s transatlantic appeal and enthusiasm for the sport make him the ideal partner. He said: “At age 27, Matt has already been a pro for eight years—making a big impression with golf fans in Europe and the United States. “His enthusiasm and dedication to the sport will make him an incredible ambassador for the Skechers GO GOLF brand as he illustrates how our footwear delivers comfort and performance that any golfer will enjoy.”

Fitzpatrick is one of several professionals who have teamed up with Skechers. Others include Brooke Henderson, Colin Montgomerie and Billy Andrade. Fitzpatrick had been an ambassador for American sports equipment manufacturer Under Armour throughout his professional career in a deal that saw him wear the brand’s apparel, shoes and gloves. However, he appeared at February’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am wearing a Q-Zip without the Under Armour logo, but with the Skechers logo on his cap, suggesting a link-up up with the company.

Fitzpatrick is currently World No.26. Even though he missed the cut at the Players Championship, his 2022 has got off to a solid start, with top 10 finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Phoenix Open, where he made headlines by handing out Sheffield United football shirts to the crowd. He has shown plenty of promise throughout his professional career so far, too. After turning professional following the 2014 US Open, Fitzpatrick has won seven tournaments on the European Tour. Meanwhile, his best result in a Major so far is a tie for 7th at the 2016 Masters. The same year, he won the DP World Tour Championship and represented Europe in the Ryder Cups in 2016 and last year.

Both parties will hope that Fitzpatrick’s success to date is just the start, with the Steel City native – at just 27 – having plenty of scope to make further strides in the game.

Skechers Go Golf Torque Pro Golf Shoes Review

Renowned for its out-of-the-box comfort, Skechers has once again delivered a comfortable, practical and reasonably stylish golf shoe for all year round use.

Packed with features, not only is this a well-rounded spiked shoe in terms of performance, but it also offers brilliant value for money. As always, as soon as you put them on, Skechers’ renowned out-of-the-box comfort becomes apparent. It’s a staple of the brand and in this shoe it’s provided by several elements.

First of all, both the lightweight Ultra Go midsole and Goga Max insole compliment each other to deliver soft but responsive cushioning that makes walking 18 holes a breeze. Add in the full-grain leather upper and you have excellent fit and feel across the entire foot. Even when our golf left us covering more ground than usual, we were never left with the feeling of heaviness or soreness underfoot that you get with other spiked shoes.

As well as being waterproof, the flexible outsole delivers traction across the entire base no matter the course conditions or dodgy lies you might find yourself in. You only get six spikes on the bottom of each shoe, but these are more than enough to provide excellent grip. Having slightly fewer spikes than it's competitors also has its advantages as it makes the shoe quite low-profile over the turf and, in very dry conditions, the spikes won't protrude too much. The spikes are also easily replaceable, which will ultimately increase the overall lifespan of these shoes. 

The shoes are available black/red, grey/red and white/navy, with two width options also available - medium and extra wide. We loved the white/navy pair we tested. 

Easy comfort, excellent grip and fully waterproof, the Go Golf Torque Pro golf shoes offer a lot at an excellent price and should definitely be on your shortlist if you're in the market for one of the best spiked golf shoes on the market right now.

Skechers Pro 4 Legacy Golf Shoe Review

If you regularly play in wet conditions and want a spiked waterproof leather golf shoe, then the Skechers Pro 4 Legacy is a fantastic option for golfers who prioritise comfort and is one of the best Skechers golf shoes in its current line.

Designed to be fully waterproof, it is also very comfortable thanks to the Resamax cushioned insole and light Ultra Go cushioning.

Skechers is renowned for its comfort and the Pro 4 Legacy shoes don't disappoint on this front.

Straight out of the box these are a very comfy pair of shoes and took us very little time to break in out on the course.

Like the Skechers Torque Pro golf shoe, it has a leather and synthetic upper with waterproof membrane protection plus extra traction from the eight Softspikes in the moulded dynamic diamond sole.

These spikes are easily replaceable too, making the lifespan of this shoe a lot longer when the spikes inevitably fall or wear out after a few years of solid use.

The shoes come with a one year waterproof guarantee but, as with all waterproof Skechers shoes we've tested, we expect that these well constructed shoes will have a long lifespan if well looked after.

The leather upper means they're easy to wipe clean after a round of golf, and the black pair we tried barely showed up any marks after a handful of rounds.

They're true to size too, and when we tested these out in our normal size 8, the fit was as we'd expect.

While the styling is a little conservative for our liking, it comes three colour options (black, grey or white) so you can find a pair to suit your preference.
