Puma is one of the biggest names in the game when it comes to apparel and, with this latest winter jacket it continues to shine. First things first, the Nordic jacket is a great performer in windier and colder weather, with the windCELL technology working its magic to protect me against the wind.

Not only is the performance excellent, but I think it looks great with a mixture of grey and black colorways. If that isn't for you though, there is also navy and grey available, which works really well with a range of apparel.

Fit-wise, it is very comfortable, even over multiple other layers, and it also has pull toggles at the waist to help make it fit snugger and ensure the wind doesn't have a way in.

Further signs of comfort are seen with Velcro adjustment on the sleeves, which helps ensure a further snug fit around the wrist and it also stops any wind getting up the sleeves. There is plenty of storage too, with three pockets to choose from. There are two on the waist and one on the chest to make sure you have room for everything and to keep your hands warm.

One thing that I noticed, and would have preferred, is a little more waterproofing. Although this isn’t meant to be a waterproof jacket, it didn't seem too water resistant either which, for what I think is a great jacket, is slightly frustrating. Overall, in light rain it performs well, but anything too heavy and it does slightly struggle.

There is a lot to like about this jacket and it certainly does everything you would want. Personally, I think it is great for those who want a thinner jacket and not a midlayer, because you can wear this over a polo and be warm enough on a windy day. The only downside I found was the water-resistance wasn't up to scratch, other than that, it does everything it claims to do, which is all you can ask for when it comes to a winter jacket.

We analyse the appeal of the new Puma RS-G shoe, combining our opinions on the unique styling with how it performs on the course

Puma RS-G: The Ultimate Statement Shoe

Out on tour, ultra-traditional shoes like the FootJoy Icon remain among the most popular models but this year, one shoe in particular has pushed the other end of the sporty-traditional spectrum even further away.

Increases in street influences, off-course styling and out-of-the-box thinking mean that the choice for golfers has never been so varied and one of the best examples of this this the Puma RS-G shoe.

Based on the popular RSX trainer, it comes in two colours and breaks new ground in golf shoe design, blending street and sport culture with golf performance. The reaction on social media tells us it is one of the most polarizing shoe launches in recent times.

If you’re young (or young at heart) and/or into your vintage sneakers, the chances are you’ll love what Puma has created. But if you cherish the history and heritage of the game, they will likely be a step too far.

We asked 15 Golf Monthly staff and contributors, covering all ages, handicaps and tastes, what they thought of the Puma RS-G upon seeing it for the first time. Opinions were predictably mixed.

Bill Elliott, columnist Age: 75 Handicap: 18 Preferred shoe style: More traditional but always spikeless Would you wear them? No Verdict: The Puma RS-G are clearly not aimed at me and rightly so as I would not be drawn to them although my sons say they would be very likely to try them.

Mike Harris, editor Age: 49 Handicap: 9 Preferred shoe style: Sporty spikeless Would you wear them? Yes Verdict: As a huge trainer fan I like the styling that is inspired by genuine street footwear. In a golf context, I think these are a real statement shoe and I’m not afraid to wear standout items with an appropriate outfit in the right setting.

Kevin Murray, photographer Age: 63 Handicap: 10 Preferred shoe style: Traditional Would you wear them? No Verdict: Sorry but these aren’t for me as I do like wearing a more traditional shoe. There’s too much going on with the design and so I’m not sure what part is form over function. I’m sure they are lightweight but with the very thick sole they look heavy. They remind me of the Adidas Yeezy Boost 500 which is a pure trainer!

Yes Verdict: These are shoes I could easily see myself wearing all day long, not just for a round of golf. I'm not a fan of the white and grey colour but would definitely look at the other colour options available.

Fergus Bisset, freelancer Age: 40 Handicap: 3 Preferred shoe style: Traditional spiked Would you wear these shoes? No Verdict: I would struggle to feel serious on the golf course wearing shoes that look like they should be paired with an old-school shell suit. Not for me.

No Verdict: They look like they're trying too hard to be modern - a bit like Back to the Future Part II! Not sure they're aimed at my demographic. Definitely think I'm too old to pull them off!

Is there really a demand for a shoe like this? Why do we need to have a street-style golf shoe? It wouldn't bother me if someone wanted to wear it, but I would never choose a style like this.

Michael Weston, freelancer Age: 40 Handicap: 12 Preferred shoe style: Spikeless Would you wear these shoes? No Verdict: If I were 20 years younger, I might have considered wearing them - not now. Only certain players (young, trend setters) will be able to pull this style off, I imagine.

Yes Verdict: I think they're pretty cool and it's great that they can be worn on and off the course so no need to change shoes on arrival. As a traditionalist, I would only wear these in social games or after-work golf, not in a comp. Still, I'm a big fan. I have a new pair of adicross' and love them for the exact reasons stated above

Sam Tremlett, writer Age: 26 Handicap: 5 Preferred shoe style: Sporty spikeless that could be worn away from the course. Would you wear them? Yes Verdict: I think they are a positive step for golf because anything that chisels away at the negative/archaic image of the sport is a good thing. I think in terms of the shoes, I like the design, they look comfortable and I think the black/grey shoes colourway are 'sick', as the kids say.

Jezz Ellwood, rules expert Age: 56 Handicap: 6 Preferred shoe style: Traditional spikeless Would you wear them? No Verdict: I just don't really feel I want to be wearing such a trainer-style shoe on the golf course. I also have some reservations about the chunkiness/height of the heel section

Rob Smith, courses expert Age: 63 Handicap: 14 Preferred shoe style: Sporty spikeless Would you wear them? No Verdict: I am not a fan of the cargo/military style look - they look like they are designed to offer a height boost. I think the bar down the side looks like a lever used to adjust a car seat - does RS-G stand for Rap Star Golfer?

Thomas Clarke, senior content editor Age: 38 Handicap: 18 Preferred shoe style: Sporty spikeless Would you wear them? Yes Verdict: I think many may struggle to work out what they look like on a normal golfer who doesn't look like or have the style of Rickie Fowler.

These comments highlight how looks play such an important part in decision making when it comes to shoes as well as the limitations in terms of the appropriate environment for them to be seen. You can be as young and bold as you like, but if you turn up wearing the RS-G at a very traditional, historic golf club you may well be swiftly shown the exit.

The feedback also suggested they were more appropriate for fun, social rounds and off-course wear rather than competitive rounds.

All this tells us that the overall demand for the RS-G shoe may be small but for Puma, this is just fine. This shoe isn’t for the masses - part of the RS-G’s appeal is that it is so different and distinctive, and thus won’t be seen in abundance.

We tested them for a couple of rounds and have to say, we really enjoyed the experience. The laces are unusually thick but the shoe feels really soft and snug, to the point where you might want to go up half a size, and you definitely don't feel as high off the ground as the sole design suggests.

The level of grip was sufficient, even when testing during an unforseen rain shower (our feet stayed dry too), and there's a good level of stability on offer. The white/grey colourway goes perfectly with a grey pair of slacks and they just didn't seem as out of place visually as we were expecting.

I can definitely see myself wearing these shoes again, perhaps not for the monthly medal but certainly during social rounds with friends with a pair of shorts. If you like your trendy trainers, you could definitely wear them away from the course too, although this would be a step too far for me I think.

The Puma RS-G shoe allows golfers to make a statement, telling others you aren’t afraid to try something different and aren’t interested in following the crowd. We commend Puma’s enterprise and while it undoubtedly isn’t for everyone, it certainly has earned its position as the ultimate statement shoe for 2020.

Puma Ignite Pwradapt Caged Shoe Review

With its latest cleated golf shoe, Puma continue to blend style with substance. It has a lightweight and durable TPU cage that provides a locked-in feel for better support in high impact areas while the Ignite foam midsole provies comfort and energy return.

This shoe has a sporty sneaker style look to it which we really like - it would appear to be targeting a younger audience with its trainer-style design. The first job with any shoes is to slide your feet in and we found the one-piece, slip-on-style entry design around the ankle made this more tricky.

It definitely offers a more roomy fit in the forefoot area yet the design of the caged area ensures your feet are secure when you pull the laces tight, presuming you have the correct size of course.

You’ll then notice the underfoot cushioning from the Ignite foam providing a spring in your step while also letting you feel relatively low to the ground. Despite being a shoe claiming to offer stability, the sole is fairly flexible in all directions, which helps with walking comfort but might not provide the solid base some golfers crave.

That said, the combination of seven cleats and other lugs frequently scattered around provides very good grip, so there’s no chance of slipping even when teeing off early in the dew.

It looks like there are different lace positions at the top of the shoe as well as a choice of four colours and a disc lacing option too.

Puma Ignite Proadapt Shoes Launched

Puma Golf has launched its new Ignite Proadapt shoes, said to deliver golfers greater stability, traction and comfort.

The Ignite Proadapt shoe’s outsole provides traction via Dual-Durometer Tornado Cleats, with extra 'torsional stability' coming from a full length Proadapt TPU outsole.

The shoe features a stable, full-grain leather upper design.

Fowler debuted Proadapt earlier this season and wore them during his recent victory at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

“During the footwear design and creation process, we work with our Tour team, utilising their feedback to deliver shoes that reflect the feel and performance desired by the best golfers in the world,” said Andrew Lawson, Footwear Product Line Manager at Puma Golf.

Puma Ignite NXT Shoes Revealed

Puma Golf has announced the introduction of a new golf shoe range designed on a completely new Ignite spikeless traction platform with three different upper silhouettes and lacing options.

Each provides wearers with added stability and comfort as well as excellent grip. They are built from the ground up using Puma’s Pro-Form TPU outsole with an organically-altered traction pattern, featuring over 100 strategically placed directional hexagon lugs in for maximum stability and traction.

Soleshield is a new micro-thin TPU film that is vacuum-formed around the full-length Ignite foam midsole to make cleaning off dirt and debris easier. The upper features a flat-knit waterproof mesh vamp with a Pwrframe TPU, which is an ultra-thin frame that is strategically-placed in high stress areas of the upper for lightweight support and increased stability.

Ignite NXT Solelace

The new Ignite NXT Solelace combines the comfort of Ignite foam with the traction and stability of NXT technology and the Solelace closure system. Solelace comprises strong and lightweight TPU units attached directly to the midsole that allow the laces of the shoes to completely envelop a golfer’s foot, offering 360-degree support.

In addition, the design allows the laces of the shoes to pull the midsole and outsole of the shoe via the Solelace units, rather than the laces simply tightening the upper around the foot like in a traditional shoe, which helps provide the ultimate ground feel. Additionally, the Performance Mesh upper combined with Pwrframe give you a secure locked in fit. Available in four colorways.

Ignite NXT

Like the Solelace version, the Ignite NXT utilizes the same blend of Performance Mesh + TPU, Ignite Foam and Organically-Altered Traction technologies to deliver versatile comfort and enhanced spikeless performance.

In this model, the mesh upper with Pwrframe reinforcement combines with Puma’s new Prwcage technology that offers a super strong lightweight TPU saddle decoupled from the upper to provide support and stability throughout the swing. This stylish shoe comes with traditional laces and is available in four colours.  

Ignite NXT Disc

Like the traditional lace version, the Ignite NXT Disc utilizes the same technologies to provide support and stability throughout the swing as well as walking comfort.

But to secure the shoe, Puma’s proprietary Disc tightening system delivers convenience with a micro-adjusting dial system that quickly and easily secures golfers’ feet for a locked-in, consistent and custom fit. Available in the same four colorways as the lace version.

Ignite NXT Pro 

The Ignite NXT Pro offers an alternative to the Performance Mesh + TPU construction of the other three shoes in the family, while still providing comfort, stability and traction.

Styling  

In recent years I think Puma have made big strides in the styling of their garments, appealing to far more golfers rather than just a young audience, whilst maintaining the athletic look they are known for. With all of the garments tested I would be happy to wear them off course, away from the golf club as well as on it.  

Fit  

Being tall, I usually find the fit of garments to come up a little short but I must say the Puma garments offered excellent length in body, sleeve and leg. I did find the t-shirt a little tight in the body but this can be combatted by giving attention to the different fits on offer in the range.  

Comfort  

All garments were particularly comfortable, offering stretch and breathable fabrics across the range. As above these could easily be worn for off course travel, even on longer journeys, given the softness of the material and versatile look.  

Performance 

Although the waterproof suit looked great, in the extreme weather we played in a little water did get through to my layers underneath and while I can't be sure if it got through the material or came in through the neck, the material didn't repel or bead the water off as much as I'd hoped. That said, the mid layer kept me nice and toasty when the temperature dropped without overheating and causing me to have to remove layers and the soft and stretchy polo shirt material was the ideal primary layer.

The iconic TitanTour Ignite Hi-Top (£160) now come in an all-white colourway. Ignite foam cushioning provides the comfort while the shoe's design naturally provides ankle stability.

Rickie Fowler sported some of the latest Puma shoes at the US Open, where he was in contention throughout after an opening round 65 but eventually finished T-5, six shots behind the winner Brooks Koepka.

On the ladies side, there the Ignite Spikeless Sport Floral (£100), which features an on-trend floral graphic print in three colourways, and the Ignite Statement (£100), which is arguably one of Puma's most head-turning designs that looks more like a casual street shoe but has 39 strategically placed hexagons on the sole to provide multi-directional grip in two colourways.

Two-time European Tour winner Carly Booth has signed with Cobra Puma Golf to wear its shoes, apparel and golf clubs on the Ladies European Tour

Cobra Puma Golf has announced the signing of Ladies European Tour Star Carly Booth ahead of the 2017 season.

At 14 and no stranger to the limelight, she appeared in her first professional event, the Ladies Scottish Open, and finished 13^th in the field. Following that, she was rated the No. 1 junior in Europe after winning the European Junior Masters in 2007, the same year she lifted the Scottish Under-18 and Under-21 titles.

In 2008, she became the youngest player to represent Great Britain & Ireland in the 76-year history of the Curtis Cup, facing the Americans in the 35th staging of that match at St Andrews. Carly also played at the Junior Ryder Cup in 2006 and 2008 and won the Daily Telegraph Finals in 2007 and 2008.

The new Puma TitanTour Ignite Disc golf shoes have been revealed, with Puma's new proprietary Disc Technology removing the need for shoe laces.

The limited-edition version of the Puma TitanTour Ignitie golf shoes is equipped with 'Disc technology', a laceless closure system for a comfier and fully customisable fit.

With just a turn of the Disc dial on the side of the shoe, the internal wire system tightens the upper, while a simple turn in the opposite direction allows you to easily loosen the shoe.

“The new Puma TitanTour Ignite Disc golf shoes ensure a quick and secure fit; with a few simple turns the shoe is secure, comfortable and ready to go,” said Grant Knudson, head of footwear and accessories at Puma Golf.

The limited-edition Puma TitanTour Ignite Disc golf shoes come in two colorways with a sleek chevron graphic: Red Blast/White/Black and White/Black.

As with the original TitanTour Ignite, its design features Ignite Foam that is integrated between the gel moulded insole and outsole.

Ignite Foam is a springy cushioning material that provides a better energy return between your feet and the ground as you walk, so you lose less energy lifting your feet and consequently feel fresher towards the end of your game.

The new foam design is joined on the outside by a full-grain leather upper that is waterproof and durable, while there’s also an integrated heel support that improves stability, and an ultra thin TPU frame that encases the midsole for lightweight durability and increased flexibility.

Building on the popular Puma TitanTour shoes that were released at the start of the year, the new upgrade for the Puma TitanTour Ignite sees a new Ignite Foam revolutionise the comfort on offer.

The Ignite Foam, which is integrated between the gel moulded insole and outsole, is a springy cushioning material that provides a better energy return between your feet and the ground as you walk, so you lose less energy lifting your feet and consequently feel fresher towards the end of your game.

The soft and springy feel also means your joints should take less of a strain, hopefully reducing the chance of injuries.

The new foam design is joined inside the shoe by PWRCOOL powered by Outlast, a design where materials absorb, store and release heat so you don’t get hot and sweaty feet.

On the outside, a new last shape provides a better fit and toe-down look, and is covered by a full-grain leather upper that is waterproof and durable.

There’s also an integrated heel support that improves stability, and an ultra thin TPU frame that encases the midsole for lightweight durability and increased flexibility.

On the Puma TitanTour Ignite's sole, you’ll find multi-direction, strategically placed walls of secondary traction that surround and work in harmony with nine low-profile cleats for better grip.

There’s also anatomically positioned flex grooves between the cleats that allow your feet to move naturally, with a rigid yet flexible composition helping all the elements remain debris free as you play.

Available in six different colourways, each pair of Puma TitainTour Ignite shoes will also come with two sets of laces so you can customise your style.

GM verdict Right out of the box, the TitanTour offers an immediate feeling of comfort thanks to the soft cushioning that moulds to the shape of your foot and supple leather that forms the upper. The shape of the shoe hugs the foot for a snug, comfortable fit without feeling too tight. The outsole combination of the seven cleats surrounded by smaller nubs provides more-than-ample grip over the steepest of terrains.

This is one of the more stable shoes on the market, thanks to the plastic frame that surrounds the perimeter of the outsole, but there’s an element of flexibility there to help you turn and move through the shot. The true test of a shoe comes over a longer period in different temperatures and weather conditions, but our trial so far has left us very impressed indeed.

Puma has unveiled its latest golf shoe offering in the form of the TitanTour, designed to be the 'coolest' shoe in golf.

The TitanTour features temperature-regulating Outlast Technology - originally developed for NASA for use in spacesuits.

It is strategically placed in the sockliner top cloth and manages heat while controlling the production of moisture.

This is achieved through different materials that absorb, store and release heat.

"Once again, we are pushing the limits of footwear innovation and style," said Grant Knudson, head of footwear at Puma Golf.

"The TitanTour golf shoe provides even greater comfort for the golfer by regulating head and reacting to changes in conditions and foot temperature.

An ultra-thin TPR frame gives the shoe a lightweight dimension, as well as providing durability, flexibility and traction.

An external TPU Heel Support, meanwhile, provides greater stability through all phases of the swing.

The upper is constructed from full-grain, premium leather and memory foam, which can also be found in the insole.

"The Puma TitanTour golf shoe provides all the performance, comfort, cooling and support that I need, but better yet it has a look and feel that really fits my style on the course," said Cobra Puma staffer Rickie Fowler.

The TitanTour is available in seven colour combinations:

Black/White; White/Vibrant Orange; White/Strong Blue; White/Gray Violet; Brown/Mustang; White/Black and Flash, made of reflective material.

All models will be available to purchase from February 1, 2015 with an RRP of £180.

For those not wishing to spend quite as much, the TitanLite - which sports the same Outlast technology - is available for £80.

Puma Golf has announced that Ian Poulter's Tour performance golf shoe will be available to consumers and on the market in early August.

The Neo Classic ProType was introduced earlier this year, when it was revealed Ian Poulter would wear the brand's footwear and belts on the course.

The Neo Classic ProType is a brand new style, and will be available in limited quantities in two colour options: black/white and white/black.

The shoes feature PUMA Golf's S2C Pro Chassic and Carbon Fibre Shank and ArchTec medial support, which provides the golfer with control, stability and power.

The outsole features S2Quill Spikes with Performance INSert System (PINS), along with 130 S2Quill traction quills and 50 moulded spikes, which ensure maximum grip and superior traction.

The Neo Classic ProType will be available in select golf retailers and pro shops in early August.

Water repellent leather uppers are combined with a flexible rubber outsole on the Puma Ace shoe. Smart Quill spikes and rubber mouldings combine to help provide improved traction when swinging.
