A sim card and cellular aerial antenna were installed into all M5 GPS models sold last year, so this new technology can also be used by existing owners.

The M5 GPS trolley features a number of styling upgrades for 2021  as well as a responsive high resolution 3.5" LCD touchscreen that displays yardages to greens and hazards as well as the ability to drag and drop the pin into a specific position on the screen for a more precise yardage.

Featuring a high-resolution LCD display, a pin can be locked on from 450 yards away. It also includes slope compensation (competition legal with slope disabled) to account for any undulations.

Motocaddy M7 Remote Electric Trolley Revealed

Motocaddy is set to introduce its new M7 Remote electric trolley, giving golfers a hands-free option for transporting their clubs on the golf course.

It becomes the eighth model in this year’s compact M-Series range and includes some significant upgrades on the original S7 Remote model it replaces.

Features include an anti-glare LCD screen, a pair of anti-skid rear wheels and an extra (removable) anti-tip wheel at the back to provide stability on all terrains. As with all M-Series models available this year, its integral compact-folding SlimFold system makes it possible to fit into the smallest car boots.

The new ‘ergonomic’ remote control handset is easy to use and fully rechargeable – using the trolley’s USB charging port if needed. It can move the trolley forward, left, right and in reverse, with an additional pause and resume feature.

It can also switch readily from remote to manual mode and back again, if the user wants to control it from the handle like a regular trolley. In addition to including Automatic Downhill Control, there is an emergency stop and a new handset lock function – preventing accidental button pushes.

The LCD screen includes an extra battery meter indicating the capacity of the handset, with the handset able to clip onto the trolley frame for convenient access and storage.

This premium electric trolley from Motocaddy is packed so full of features that it’s hard to do it full justice in a short review. Suffice to say, we’ve used it several times and been hugely impressed by the whole package and several things in particular.

First of all, it looks great with the hand-stitched leather handles adding a touch of class. The full-colour LCD screen can be easily read even in very bright sunlight, and if you also use a Motocaddy bag, it locks firmly in place via the highly effective Easilock system – so no twisting, slipping or sliding around on bumpier terrain.

Another huge plus is the 36+ hole battery, which is ideal if you like to really cram the rounds in. The trolley folds away simply too with the battery in place if you wish, and you can even charge the battery while the trolley is folded down too.

Powerful yet silent

The trolley feels superlight out on the course and when manoeuvring it from garage to car or car to car park. It runs not only very smoothly, but also unbelievably quietly, too - you really can barely hear the motor.

A couple of other very handy features are the DHC (Downhill Control) function that prevents the trolley from wanting to get away from you downhill, so you won’t have to fight to hold it back even on steep slopes. And then there’s the handy function that lets you set the M-Tech off solo over up to 60 yards in five-yard increments, allowing you to walk on to the green with your putter, for example, while your trolley makes its way to the next tee.

Yes, it’s premium-priced, but we found this trolley a real pleasure to use, with all of the features crammed into it of real practical value to the golfer.

Following the recent launch of the cutting-edge M5 GPS electric trolley, Motocaddy has updated its three push trolleys for the forthcoming season, each boasting a fresh design, multiple features and generous storage.

The new version of the Cube is compact and simple to fold thanks to its two-step folding system. Packed with storage options, it also offers adjustable handle height and a foot parking brake. Additional features include a new durable rubber handle and friction-free oversize wheels to easily manoeuvre around the course, along with a folding lock and compatibility with the Easilock bag-to-trolley connection system, removing the need for a lower-bag strap.

Featuring a fresh new look with graphite frame and wheels, the new Cube folds down 40 per cent smaller than traditional push trolleys and also incorporates a host of storage options, including an under-handle net; drink and scorecard holders; an accessory console; an umbrella holder attachment; and space to hold spare tees and balls. It is available now with an RRP of £179.99 with new Lime trim added to the previous Red and Blue options.

The new lightweight P1 push model (above) includes a thicker frame and a one-step folding system, allowing the trolley to be ready to use in seconds. Motocaddy M5 GPS Trolley Headlines 2020 Range

Golf trolley brand Motocaddy is introducing the world’s first touch screen-enabled electric trolley as the flagship model of its 2020 range.

The M5 GPS features a hi-res 3.5” LCD display that can be controlled in all weather conditions, even when wearing a glove. It incorporates a fully integrated GPS system with processing power similar to a modern-day smartphone to provide golfers with yardages on over 40,000 preloaded courses.

Front, middle and back distances are visible, along with the ability to move flag positions on the screen and check for any hazards on the hole. A clock, round timer and score tracking are also available, plus the par of each hole, the ability to measure a shot, automatic hole advancement and a battery indicator.

When connected to the free Motocaddy GPS app, golfers can also receive a wide-range of smartphone notifications direct to the touch screen without handling a mobile phone, alerting to a missed call, text message, email or range of app alerts, including WhatsApp and Facebook. The smartphone can be securely placed in a golf bag pocket or charged using the trolley’s patented USB charging port.

Along with the GPS technology, the M5 GPS is powered by a 28.8V drive system - also found on every M-Series model in the range - to enhance efficiency and performance reliability. Driven by a whisper-quiet 230W motor, the compact, lightweight and waterproof M-Series Lithium battery can be charged on board, meaning it doesn’t have to be removed for transportation and storage.

The M5 GPS also comes in a M5 GPS DHC version, which features an electronic parking brake and a downhill control function, which ensures the trolley maintains the same speed when travelling down slopes.

Like other M-Series models, the M5 GPS trolleys offer an optimal folded footprint while inverting wheels allows it to easily fit into the smallest car boots. Adjustable Distance Control (up to 60 yards or metres), a USB charging port, tool-free handle height adjustment and compatibility with the pioneering Easilock bag-to-trolley connection system are also included.

Along with the M5 GPS models and joining the M-Tech model, brand new S1, M1, M1 DHC, M3 PRO and M3 PRO DHC trolleys have also been given a makeover to incorporate an updated handle design, new frame and wheel colouring, plus features added to each model after extensive research among golfers.

For the first time, each model now includes a USB charging port and Adjustable Distance Control (ADC), plus a free Motocaddy Accessory Station comes as standard with every trolley. The new look includes a sleek Graphite frame and wheels across the entire electric trolley family, with standout detailing in the Red, Blue and Lime trim depending on the model.

The brand new S1 is simple to use and features an anti-glare LCD screen, nine speed settings and ADC in 15, 30 and 45-yard increments. The brand’s Quikfold mechanism allows the trolley to be ready-to-use in seconds, plus the soft-touch ergonomic handle has been updated for easy manoeuvrability.

The new M1 boasts a car boot friendly profile for optimum storage. A speed indicator, battery meter and ADC up to 45 yards are featured on the trolley handle screen, which is visible in all weather conditions. The M1 DHC includes all the features found on the M1, but it can also maintain a constant speed while moving down a gradient - thanks to a special single motor that offers downhill braking, coupled with an electronic parking brake. It also comes with specialised all-terrain DHC wheels.

The modernised M3 PRO and all-new M3 PRO DHC features Drive, Round & Life distance measurements, Clock & Round timer and speed indicator on the high resolution, full colour LCD screen. Adjustable Distance Control increases to 60 yards in 5-yard increments and a CartLock security pin code is also included.

All of these new designs will add to the Pro-Series range, which was updated earlier in 2019.

“We spoke to lots of golfers to find exactly what they look for in a modern golf bag,” said Motocaddy Marketing Manager, Oliver Churcher. “In taking all the feedback on board, we think this is our most comprehensive and contemporary bag range ever.

The Club-Series range is now 23 per cent lighter than its predecessor whilst the Lite-Series is now the lightest and most compact Motocaddy bag, weighing just 2.3 kilograms.

Finally the AquaFlex has been replaced in 2020 with the HydroFlex carry bag. It features an updated quick‑release 4-point fully adjustable carry strap, along with subtle branding and is designed to fit perfectly onto any Motocaddy trolley for versatility. It will have an RRP of £209.99.

Motocaddy Life-Saving GPS App Update Revealed

The free Motocaddy GPS proved to be a popular choice among golfers, even those not looking to pair it with a compatible trolley like the M5 or S5 Connect, for its ease of use, clear colour hole maps, smartphone notifications and accurate distances.

Now, a recent update incorporates potential lifesaving features that indicate the location of on-course defibrillators and provide golfers with CPR instructions to administer to anyone suffering a cardiac arrest when playing golf.

So far, more than 700 golf clubs around the UK and Ireland have registered the location of one or more defibrillators with a database compiled by Motocaddy that will depict their accessibility on the standalone app within seconds. The app is also available in five different languages.

Gaining early access to a defibrillator increases the chance of survival from a cardiac arrest by up to 10 per cent and performing CPR can more than double the chances of survival in some cases.

The new app also includes vector course graphics that significantly minimises data and battery usage, the option of 2D course maps with distance overlays and aerial hole flyovers.

There’s also the option of ‘hazard planning’ offering lay-up and approach distances to any point on each hole.

Another new addition includes a score tracking option and in-game statistics for post-game analysis. A scorecard; the number putts taken; fairways hit and greens in regulation are all recordable, plus the option to select the tee being played for accurate course information.

The new-look app can be linked to the brand’s Connect trolley models via Bluetooth on any compatible smartphone; allowing the trolley's digital display to be used in place of a conventional GPS, offering front, middle and back distances to the green along with par of the hole and clock. It also features a round timer plus shot measurement - both fully controllable from the trolley handle.

For many golfers, myself included, simplicity is the order of the day when it comes to transporting my bag around the golf course with a minimum of fuss. The new Motocaddy S1 is a perfect option to suit this demand, getting you from point A to point B with ease and allowing you to focus completely on your game.

Assembly One of the simplest, fastest methods around using one button, a fold and a lift. Audible ‘clicks’ let you know when the parts are secured, while the wheels come off for those short on space.

Performance The new colour screen certainly adds some wow factor and remains perfectly readable in varying light conditions. The frame is sturdy yet lightweight, making it easy to get in and out of the car boot while also coping with slopes and bumpy terrain very well.

It folds down in two very simple moves that can be done in a couple of seconds with practice, and if you’ve got a Motocaddy bag with the Easilock base, it will clip in securely without you having to bend down to fasten a lower bag strap.

The lithium battery is light and easy to connect and can be left in situ when folding the S1 down, reducing post-round faff. There’s only one colour and the tacky handle material gathers dust quite easily, but overall, the S1 ably eliminates the potential stresses and strains that come from carrying or pushing your clubs.

Stand bags offer the versatility of carrying when just nipping to the range or when playing a quick nine holes on a summer’s evening. The Motocaddy AquaFlex is comfortably equipped for this but is also an ideal full-time option given the level of features on offer.

Piece of mind comes from the waterproof protection, knowing your belongings will be safe and dry in the heaviest of rain showers regardless of which of the five spacious pockets they are stored in.

The GPS functionality comes from the free Motocaddy app, which uses Bluetooth to transfer the distance information to the digital screen on the handle.

Assembly This process has been made much simpler, now using just two clips to go from fully erect to folded down. A further stage involves inverting (flipping) the wheels if you want to save even more space. A pop-out clip allows the trolley to stand vertically for easier storage.

Features Similar to the S5 Connect, golfers can measure shots and access front, middle and back distances on the handle via their smartphone, as well as text and call notifications. There's also adjustable distance control to send your trolley off to the next tee and it has the Easilock base to connect it to a Motocaddy cart bag more easily.

Performance The assembly process is noticeably faster and simpler than on the previous M-Series, coming down from around 10 seconds to 3-4 seconds after some practice, although the inverted wheels are a touch fiddly to switch around. It also looks much more modern once put together, boosting shelf appeal.

Especially tall and short golfers will appreciate the adjustable handle height, which is easy to tweak, while those with busy lives off the course will like the ability to stay connected to the outside world while on the course. The screen is surprisingly easy to read given its modest size and the USB charging port enables you to keep your phone topped up, although the Power Save mode on the Motocaddy GPS app means you hardly lose any juice or data during a round.

The battery is noticeably smaller and lighter, plus golfers can fold down the trolley with it still in place and even charge it in situ. It is also more powerful, which means the components inside the trolley should last longer. This all combines to make the M5 Connect as faff-free as possible while also offering a level of features to satisfy the needs of the gadget lovers.

The new Motocaddy Cube Connect push trolley has been revealed, and becomes the world's first push trolley with built-in GPS yardages.

Based on the frame and console design of the popular Cube push trolley model launched last year, this new Motocaddy Cube Connect push trolley throws in a new GPS display screen for yardages on the go.

Following the successful launch last year of Motocaddy’s S5 Connect electric trolley, the Motocaddy Cube Connect has a GPS screen that must be paired with Motocaddy's free GPS app. Once it's connected, you'll see front, middle and back distances to the green at more than 40,000 courses worldwide.

The screen will also display shot measurements, a clock and a round timer. As you can see below, the screen is positioned conveniently next to the trolley's soft-touch handle and all the features can be controlled directly from there.

When synced to the Motocaddy GPS app via Bluetooth, the push trolley can also receive notifications for calls, texts, emails and a range of apps, including WhatsApp and Facebook.

As it's not an electric trolley, the screen is powered by a Motocaddy long-life battery, while the display screen can also be tilted up and down to improve visibility in any light conditions.

Along with screen, the Motocaddy Cube Connect trolley boasts a number of performance-enhancing features. These include its simple two-step assembly system, a foot-operated brake, oversized wheels, a folding lock, adjustable bag supports and Motocaddu's Easilock base.

Having used the Motocaddy 2017 Dry-Series cart bag for a number of months, it's clear to see that it deserves its place in our Best Golf Trolley Bags 2017 guide. Better still, when you compare it to some of the other waterproof trolley bags from the likes of PowaKaddy and Titleist, it also offers good value for money at £199.99

During our testing we enjoyed the positioning and space of the seven pockets on the whole. The two large side pockets offered great storage room for all our spare clothing, while the insulated pocket was large enough to house multiple drinks. The new scorecard sleeve is a great touch too, but we wouldn't have minded a little bit more space for the one velour-lined valuables pocket, which was a tad tight once loaded with a phone and wallet.

The styling of this bag errs on the conservative side and while that gives it a broad appeal and will suit a greater range of trolley frame designs, those golfers after more of a statement bag might be not be too inspired. That said, it is 100 per cent waterproof and its material and zips certainly passed the test on the rainy days we played in. It's also worth mentioning that the seam-sealed zips are big enough to get large hands into, which is something that isn't always the case.

Finally, as with Motocaddy bags of the past, the generous lift handles and Easilock base really do help to improve your overall user experience.

Key Technology One of three new Motocaddy models for 2017, this is the only one that has a 360° fully-rotating front wheel to help you to access tight spaces and weave around bags.

Multiple storage options include an under-handle net, built-in drink holder, a scorecard clip, an integrated accessory compartment, an umbrella holder attachment and holes for carrying balls and tees.

Rather than a smaller front wheel, you'll notice the P360's front wheel is much larger. This provides a smoother ride and makes it easier to push, plus it stops mud kicking up onto your golf bag during the winter.

Thanks to a simple one-step folding mechanism, it was ready to use in seconds, while its ergonomic handle has an adjustable height to make it comfortable to hold and easy to steer.

The Motocaddy P360 push trolley also boasts a foot-operated brake, quick-release wheels, adjustable bag supports and the brand’s EASILOCK base that removes the need for a lower bag strap when paired with a Motocaddy bag.

Motocaddy P360 Push Trolley Review Straight from the boot you know you're using a well-designed trolley. The unfolding mechanism was really intuitive and it genuinely took seconds to assemble.

While very useful in many situations, we found the rotating front wheel did take some getting used to, especially when steering down bumpy paths. Thankfully you do have the option to lock it in position using a switch on the side of the console unit if like us, you prefer more traditional trolley steering.

The console unit itself is arguably Motocaddy's biggest achievement with this push trolley. The previous Motocaddy push model - the S1 Lite launched in 2013 - had an insulated food and beverage pouch that sat between the wheels, but this often got covered in mud during the winter and couldn't keep your gear organised. The new console design (below) is a much better alternative.

As you can see above, there are bespoke spaces for spare balls, your drink and your tees, as well as a clip for your scorecard and a covered compartment for your phone and any other valuables.

Underneath the new console design sits a net, which during testing we used to look after our rangefinder between shots, which was a much quicker alternative versus going to and from our golf bag.

Another big improvement on the old Motocaddy S1 Lite push trolley comes via the new soft touch handle, which is incredibly comfortable to push, unlike the hard plastic of its predecessor.

It's also worth noting that this is a stylish looking trolley. The red accents give it nice detail, but otherwise it's quite understated, which we liked as it means you can pair it with any trolley bag you want.

Aimed at The S5 Connect is aimed at golfers that like to stay connected on the course but want quick, at-a-glance-distances.

Key technology After connecting to a free Motocaddy GPS smartphone app via Bluetooth the trolley will display front, middle and back distances as well as call, text, email and app notifications. Over 40,000 courses are preloaded and there’s other useful features including a clock, round timer and shot distance measurement function.

How we tested We took the S5 Connect to Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club and tested it over 18 holes, trying out all the various features.

Features The GPS distances are quick to display and update and while the Power Save mode will be enough for most, the aerial views on the app with the moveable pointer came in handy on blind shots and unfamiliar courses.

The smartphone push notifications are excellent. You can choose the type of alerts you want to receive and that multiple alerts will stack chronologically, displaying the most recent alert first. Plus, the trolley will only display missed calls rather than incoming calls so as to not distract you as you play.

Ease of use The pairing of the app to the trolley is a simple process that takes a few minutes but doesn’t need to be repeated every time you play. The screen is easy to read despite its modest size and the reliable S-Series frame makes assembly of the trolley a breeze.

You’re probably wondering why the GPS technology isn't built into the handle, like the PowaKaddy FW7s GPS model. Motocaddy say the main one is down to portability - because it uses a partner GPS app, you can take the distances to places you cant take your trolley, for example on back tees on par 3, on overseas trips or when there's a trolley ban in place during the winter. It also allows the S5 Connect to come in at a lower price point.

Verdict The S5 Connect strikes the perfect balance of keeping you connected with the outside world without being intrusive and affecting your concentration or pace of play.

The only time-consuming part of the process is setting the S5 Connect up for the first time – once you’ve paired the app and trolley together and configured the notifications you want to see, it really is as fuss-free as you’re going to get.

With this trolley, there’s no real need for a separate GPS device and we even found the need to use a laser reduced also. In power save mode only around 15 per cent of battery life was used up and having the separate app to the trolley gave us more portable distances to more remote parts of the course after an errant drive.

When you consider the price point, the over-the-air updates and the amount of information and features at your disposal, the S5 Connect delivers a staggering amount of value for money.

We’ve not even touched on the other features that comes with this S-Series frame like the Quikfold mechanism and easilock base that make this trolley quick and easy to assemble and the adjustable distance control that sends the trolley off at one of three chosen distances.

Don’t forget the S5 Connect does come in a DHC version for an extra £50 it will maintain the same speed down slopes and has an electric parking brake, ideal if you tend to play hilly courses.

Motocaddy has given its popular S7 Remote electric trolley a stylish upgrade for the 2017 season.

The latest S7 Remote incorporates a number of new improvements from the original hands free model introduced in 2015. These include a more compact fully rechargeable remote control Lithium handset that fits neatly into an integrated holder located on the underside of a new soft-touch ergonomic handle.

The handset can also be topped up during play thanks to the patented USB port that can also charge GPS and mobile devices.

Along with technological advances, the latest new-look model features a streamlined battery tray to accommodate the Lithium battery used to power it, along with distinctive branding on the signature S-Series frame in a new Graphite colourway.

The responsive S7 Remote boasts a dual pressure control system that allows golfers to alter how much the trolley turns to the left or the right, simply by varying the pressure applied to buttons on the handset.

As well as the dual-pressure directional buttons, the user can also control the trolley’s speed going forwards or backwards depending on how long they hold the respective buttons down, plus stop and start the trolley in an instant with the pause and resume feature.

The S7 trolley incorporates a special mechanism that enables each of the two motors to help compensate for lateral slopes and maintain stability on challenging terrains. It also features an anti-tip wheel at the back, plus a fully-rotating front wheel to allow the trolley to travel smoothly with minimal additional guidance.

Motocaddy has introduced an advanced version of its popular S1 model that features downhill speed control (DHC) and the UK’s first electronic parking brake.

The new Motocaddy S1 DHC electric trolley incorporates the same features as the latest 2016 S1 model, but can maintain a constant speed while moving down a gradient - thanks to a special single motor that offers downhill braking coupled with an electronic parking brake.

There is no doubt the Motocaddy S3 Pro is an excellent trolley. First and foremost it is light and easy to manoeuvre. No matter how undulating your golf course, it chews up the terrain and makes getting round the course far less tiring. However, these benefits are just as well defined in the new and less expensive S1 model by Motocaddy. The extra price-tag here comes courtesy of the added features and the digital display looks great and the features are all easy to use. The ability to send the trolley forward a certain distance might not be new but it’s a feature we really like and its easy to use here.

If you are thinking of investing, we would recommend the lithium battery version. It is more expensive but it is much lighter and charges very quickly. You can lift the trolley in  and out of your car without the need to remove the battery. Motocaddy also so it's more reliable and they offer an extended warranty. For us, the lithium battery version also makes the trolley easier to manoeuvre and therefore easier to use.

I will be honest and say that I am not an electric trolley user. The reason for this, more than anything else, is I find them to be something of a nuisance during 18-holes, often preventing you from walking exactly where you want to. The Motocaddy S1 however, is as easy and faff-free a trolley as you will find. Let’s start with the Quickfold mechanism – it’s brilliant. In just three moves you can fold the trolley right down and whilst you’ll need a reasonable amount of room in your boot, it is light and easy to pick up. The version we tested had a lithium battery that only improved the easy of use. The days of lugging an incredibly heavy battery in and out of your car will be over if you invest in the slightly more expensive Lithium battery version. It also comes in an extended version for those who regularly play more than 18 holes. it is also worth noting that it is quicker to charge than the lead acid alternative.

The new soft touch handle is also excellent and makes moving the trolley around tricky areas incredibly easy. The speed dial has also been well designed ensuring the trolley always seems to find an easy walking pace no matter how hilly the terrain. The 2016 Motocaddy S Series electric trolleys have been unveiled.

The new designs showcase extra features and new and improved looks, while retaining the tried and tested engineering that has made Motocaddy such a popular brand.

For the new Motocaddy S1 (above), this facelift includes a new soft-touch ergonomic handle, low-profile quick release wheels, a streamlined battery tray, and the introduction of the QUIKFOLD mechanism.

These features add to the trolley’s nine speed settings, battery indicator, adjustable bag supports and EASILOCK bag connection system.

The 2016 Motocaddy S Series electric trolley range also sees the S3 PRO (above) undergo an update, with a new user-friendly, hi-resolution full colour screen installed.

The re-designed screen displays functions such as the adjustable distance control that sends the trolley up to 60 yards down the fairway and its USB charging port that powers a smartphone or GPS device while you play.

It also displays a CartLock security pin code that locks the trolley, a clock and round and lost ball timers.

Finally, it displays a battery meter and three distance measurements covering your drives, round, and how far its travelled over its lifespan.

Motocaddy say the simplified layout of the new screen comes as a direct response to requests for the most used features to be made more accessible.

Improvements to the gadget-laden model also include a soft-touch ergonomic handle, low-profile quick release wheels and a streamlined battery tray.

These have all been added to the existing QUIKFOLD mechanism that helps the trolley assemble in less than five seconds.

Like the S1, the new-look S3 Pro is also compatible with the EASILOCK connection system that stops your bag twisting and falling off your trolley.

Leading British trolley company Motocaddy has launched its new 2016 range of eye-catching, efficient and durable cart bags.

The range of Lite, Club, Pro and Dry-Series bags incorporate a new and improved top layout with larger dividers for better club organisation and the inclusion of a fat putter grip.

Styling New for this year on the S7 trolley is the orange trim, which definitely enhances the style. This also features on the Remote, which itself has a premium look and fits perfectly in your hand. The shape of the S-Series frame creates a modern but sturdy look and while the wider wheels with deeper tread look more industrial, they serve the purpose well without being an eyesore.

Battery Only the 18-hole lithium battery is available on the S7 Remote model but from a full charge and testing out all the features, there was plenty of battery life remaining after 18 holes. I’d be confident you could do 27 holes if the course is relatively flat.

Handset Larger but thinner than existing Remote trolleys, it’s clear a lot of thought has gone into the design. The dual pressure left and right buttons genuinely enhance the steering aspect, correcting for any slight veering subtly but effectively. The reverse or ‘down’ button seemed more sensitive than the others, requiring a firm touch rather than an actual push.

Frame Just as easy and quick to put together as other S-Series electric trolleys thanks to the Quickfold mechanism. Simply lift and click then lower the bag support and you’re ready to load up. The inclusion of the Easilock base makes the process even more of a breeze and saves any golfers with ailing backs. The inclusion of the Anti-Tip wheel keeps the trolley upright when accelerating quickly.

Operation Using the remote to steer was fun to use and quick to grasp. But to also have the option of switching to manual mode is a real benefit if you lose the remote, it runs out of battery or you just fancy going back to using the trolley in the conventional way for a short time.

Steering When walking closely behind the S7, it’s tough to fight the urge to steer like you do a conventional electric trolley by pushing the handle if you're a trolley user. The extra tread and width on the wheels makes this a little more difficult to do when in manual mode. Being able to do soft and sharp turns certainly makes the trolley easier to navigate.

Features I particularly enjoyed the Tilt function, which compensates for lateral slopes. You can set it on before you tee off and then be reassured that when you do encounter a sidehill, the trolley will track much straighter and you haven’t got to keep adjusting its direction as you travel to your next shot. The downhill control feature is also a big plus, maintaining a constant speed down slopes rather than getting away from you or pulling you like conventional electric trolleys.

Ease of use The overall experience wasn’t as cumbersome as I expected and if anything it enhanced my pace of play. Having a Velcro pouch that houses the handset clipped to the frame is a must for me as I’m not a golfer that likes too many items in my pockets when I play. But having it in my back pocket on the green, having steered it toward the next tee, didn’t take much getting used to.

Control Very limited issues in terms of control, down to the remote but also the 360° self-righting front wheel that wants to revert to straight as quickly as possible. The pause and resume function means that the trolley returns to your walking pace automatically, another welcome feature.

Lithium batteries to power Motocaddy trolleys were introduced to the market six years ago.

However more than one in four golfers are now using the lightweight batteries as a means of making the game not only less expensive but also less physically exerting.

In 2012, the market-leading electric trolley brand introduced a five-year warranty on its lithium batteries.

The changes made here are definitely improvements to Motocaddy's premium offering. The new button and handle are particularly impressive. There is very little chance of you accidentally starting or stopping the trolley, something that occasionally happened on the S3 Digital. The five-minute clock isn't essential, but is a nice addition and the round timer makes for interesting reading.
