Having the Golf Monthly expert testers to hand, two of the top-rated golf speakers that achieved impressive ratings are from two of the biggest names in golf tech – Bushnell and Blue Tees.

The Blue Tees can't quite cut it compared to the top-of-the-range Bushnell and doesn't have the full GPS capabilities of its rival; however, at almost half the price, if you're more after one of the best budget rangefinders that gives you maximum bang-for-your-buck, then we highly recommend the Blue Tees.

Review highlights included its premium laser accuracy, slope integration, a strong magnet, and great build quality without paying the premium price tag. Conor noted the app opened up a ton of features like front, center and back GPS distances, as well as an 'eye in the sky' aerial views and green heat maps of each hole you are playing. He did add the app was "a little rough around the edges", but with updates there was real potential. In the meantime, the Blue Tees Captain Pro at full price is considering the features you get for less than $300 is nothing short of ridiculous value for money.

In our testing of the two discounted models in the Z-Star range, golf ball expert Joel Tadman gave the Srixon Z-Star a 4.5 star rating. Joel pointed out this ball was hard to critique and said, "Z-Star is one of the best premium golf balls. It sets itself apart with its super soft feel and ample green side control. It may not be the longest ball for most players, but it’s a solid all-rounder that offers a consistent flight and notable durability."

Garmin Approach S70 vs Voice Caddie T11 Pro: Read Our Head-To-Head Verdict

If I take any new piece of golf tech out onto the golf course, it needs to give me some sort of tangible benefit. A golf watch certainly does that, not just for me but plenty of other players out there, offering functions like yardage, wind direction and speed confirmation, shot and putt tracking, hole mapping, and now even green undulation data at the press of a button.

The best golf watches are a cost-effective way of improving your golf game since many of their golf GPS features help you with your course management while standing over the ball. They also give you plenty of performance data to analyze after the round so you know what to work on next, and some golf watches now come with settings that help you on the range too.

While there’s a lot to be said for simplicity when it comes to a good golf watch, the two options I’m comparing today are among the most feature-rich options on the market. The Voice Caddie T11 Pro and the Garmin Approach S70 are absolutely teeming with functions for you to play around with, making them both fantastic options for the golf techie. However, if you’re the sort who thinks less is more and doesn’t want to be overloaded by so many different features, consider looking at the best golf GPS devices or best golf rangefinders instead for more specialized pieces of golf gear.

Styling

While style and design may not be the number one thing you’re looking for in a versatile golf watch, it’s still important since you’re going to be looking at it as it sits on your wrist over and over again throughout your round and, in all likelihood, for a good amount of time before and after playing golf as well.

With that in mind, both of these watches hit the right notes from a design standpoint. The Voice Caddie T11 Pro looks and feels every bit the premium product that it is, and it sat nicely on my wrist even though it’s a little bigger than the Apple Watch I’m used to. This real estate is much needed given the features I’ll cover later, and it’s not anything I’ll begrudge given just how good the casing and screen look.

The Garmin Approach S70 is also a sleek and sporty golf watch, perfectly usable as your all-day smartwatch although it might be just a touch too chunky for the most formal of occasions. It’ll fit the bill everywhere else, especially given that you can choose between a 1.2-inch or 1.4-inch AMOLED display, with the smaller size being much better suited for everyday use and the larger version offering excellent resolution to make full use of the S70’s feature list.

The high resolution makes both display options crystal clear, and the graphics on the S70 are a clear, meaningful improvement over its predecessor, the Approach S62. You may have heard that some of Garmin’s lower-priced models have brightness issues, but the S70’s display is vibrant and sharp to show off new features like green contours and updated, higher-detail hole maps.

While I can’t find fault with the S70 in this department, the Voice Caddie T11 Pro’s OLED screen takes things to a whole other level. It’s incredibly bright and clear, and the perfectly responsive touchscreen is one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of testing recently. These clear graphics really helped me to make use of the T11 Pro’s different features, and they go hand-in-hand with the way the watch gives you a lot of automatic, at-a-glance info.

Ease Of Use

When you buy a new GPS watch and trot it out onto the course, all you want is to access the course easily, get your round started without any hassle, and find and use all of the features that are most important to you as easily as possible.

Both of these watches get the job done in that regard, but the Voice Caddie T11 Pro offers a surprisingly hands-off experience by automating a lot of functions. Having it zoom in and offer more pertinent detail as you get closer to the hole is a nice touch, and it’s the best way to offer so much complex information.

That’s not to say the Garmin Approach S70 is difficult to use. Far from it, with its three right-side buttons letting you navigate smoothly through its different functions. It’s intuitive despite the seemingly endless number of functions and customization options, and it won’t give up the ghost mid-round either, with up to 20 hours of battery life while using GPS and 16 days in smartwatch mode.

Features

Both of these golf watches really come into their own in this category, so strap in! It’s almost as if these two watches can do everything for you bar actually swing the club. The Garmin Approach S70, for example, can show you the weather forecast and let you integrate that into your round. It’ll also give you accurate yardages to greens, bunkers, and other course features, track your score and shot distances, and even pipe up (if you want it to) during club selection.

The S70 comes preloaded with over 43,000 courses, and when you get to your club, it’ll ready up your course automatically and download it if needed. If you’re not playing in a tournament, you can use the watch for “Plays Like Distance” which accounts for slope, wind, temperature, and even barometric pressure. Once you’ve logged five rounds, the watch can also start making club recommendations for you.

The S70 also brings back Garmin’s 'Pinpointer' compass to show you where the green is on blind shots, and there’s an automatic distance tracker which shows you how far away from your last shot you are - this is priceless when trawling the heavy rough as long as you have an idea of how far you might have hit your last club.

There are even more features available to you if you sign up for a monthly Garmin Golf membership. The highlight of these is green contouring, giving you an idea of the main contours and slope percentages of each green on the course. Subtle breaks aren’t accounted for, though, so you’ll still need to read your putts yourself.

The S70 has plenty to talk about from a features and functions standpoint, but the Voice Caddie T11 Pro is no slouch either. I really enjoyed its hole mapping, which is about as comprehensive of a course management feature as you’re likely to find, down to the driver distance arc that you can set at your own average drive distance to see what elements of the hole are in play, and the ability to touch spots on the hole to check yardages to, saving me the time and trouble of having to get my rangefinder out.

The T11 Pro’s hole mapping works really well because the watch tracks where you are, and as you make your way down the fairway it keeps adjusting the view of the hole, zooming in to display key info around the green for your approach shot. Voice Caddie’s ‘Smart Approach View’ displays the exact shape of the green and slopes, such as run-offs and false fronts, at play. It also rotates to show your exact position on the hole, meaning that you don’t have to adjust your perspective.

‘Smart Putt View’ kicks in next, and it’s an impressive bit of tech. The watch provides you with all of the critical information related to slope and break on the green, then actually prompts you with a green read like an actual caddie might, saying things like “aim left”, “aim right over a club length”, or “uphill, then flat to the pin”.

While this could be extremely useful for someone who’s poor at reading a green or actively needs that sort of prompt, these suggestions were a step too far for me, and I didn’t want my watch telling me what to do. I did, however, really like the clear color gradient and arrows that gave me an excellent idea of the green’s contours.

The Voice Caddie T11 Pro also features a tempo practice tool for the range, allowing you to practice your swing against a set tempo. While tempo training is definitely a thing, this feature fell short for me because I didn’t know what tempo number to input into the watch and test myself against. If you know what your ideal tempo needs to be, you’ll get more mileage out of this feature than I did.

Versatility

It’s a very good product on the course, but the Garmin Approach S70 would be excellent if you just looked at it as just a smartwatch, too. You can connect it to your smartphone to get all of your usual notifications, whether that’s emails, news alerts, social media pings, credit card charges, or just about anything else, all of it in real time.

Importantly, you can edit those notification settings to trim down what your S70 will funnel through to you. You can also play Bluetooth music or see who’s calling your phone, though you can’t answer calls directly from your watch. Garmin has quite the reputation in the fitness space, and the Approach S70 is a tremendous option as a fitness watch and health tracker too, with a heartbeat monitor, step counter, and a whole lot more.

The Voice Caddie T11 Pro is serviceable as a basic smartwatch, giving you call and text notifications when you connect it to your phone, but that’s about all it can do off the course apart from telling the time. It’s an out-and-out golf watch to be sure, and doesn’t pretend to be anything else.

Value

For me, the Voice Caddie T11 Pro goes above and beyond in terms of functions, so the value you’ll get from it depends squarely on how much use and enjoyment you’re going to get from those many different features. I really liked its hole mapping feature, and while they weren’t to my taste, you might be a fan of the green reading prompts the watch offers and the tempo training feedback feature, which some smartphone apps charge for. If you don't need all of those features and are instead just looking for a stylish golf watch that also gives you some basic yardage info and not too much more, the price tag may be a little too dear.

The S70 is an extremely versatile smartwatch on top of being a feature-rich golf watch, so if you want the best of both worlds, the Garmin option may be the one worth turning to. It’ll take charge of all your fitness-tracking and health monitoring needs too, so the price can be easily justified as an everyday purchase. Both the Garmin Approach S70 and the Voice Caddy T11 Pro are premium products, however, so if you want a cheaper model, make sure to read our guide on the best value golf watches.

As someone who manages the golf apparel side of things at Golf Monthly, over the last few years it has become clear just how many brands there are out there releasing high-quality golf apparel. Even the world's best players use training aids in their practice. Whether it be getting their wrists or arms in the right position, getting the best grip, or working on facets like alignment, consistency and feedback, there are a multitude of training aids out there to help the best players in the world, and you can use them too. After doing some research on some of the aids used by players like Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood, I figured it best to pick out those products, let you know how they help, and where you can get them.

We start with the TRS Slider which is used out on Tour, and designed by, Robert Rock. It consists of a durable seat belt-style strap that connects the golfer’s torso to the trail elbow. The point of this is to teach the body and arms to work in unison which will therefore create a better backswing and swing structure. Next I picked out the ProSendr training aid which has been used by Rory McIlroy. Simply place it on the trail wrist and then hinge both wrists so they sit in the prefabricated cradle, which should provide neutral wrist conditions.

We also have the humble training grip which is used by world number one Scottie Scheffler, so it must be useful right? It is as simple as it gets being a moulded grip that ensures you place your hands on the club in the same way each time. Such an effective tool and very affordable as well.

Another Rory McIlroy training aid here is Sure Golf's Connector. This is a green device with rods protruding that help golfers sync their arms and body correctly in order to create a more effective golf swing and cleaner contact with the ball. Additionally McIlroy himself said that he uses the tool to improve his wrist position in the backswing.

Tommy Fleetwood next and he uses the Swing Plane Perfector because it gives him visual feedback of what “on plane” looks like as he practices. Put simply it is a device he uses in which he sticks an alignment stick in, lines that up with the angle of his shaft, and then he can see what on plane for him.

Finally I picked out a good putting mirror as well which is a device used by a lot of the world's best players to help their putting in terms of alignment and feedback. Trust me, head to a professional event and you will undoubtedly see a few of these on the practice putting green.

Golf fashion has changed rapidly over the last few years with more and more brands offering not only the classic styles, but also apparel and shoes to suit the more casual golfer, or the golfer who wants more versatility from their gear. Shoes in particular have become more casual, eye-catching and comfortable, without compromising on the performance we would actually need on the golf course. Instead brands have sought to achieve this, as well as make shoes that can be used off the course, which is the focus of this piece.

As the Golf Monthly shoe tester, I have been lucky enough to try out a lot of different shoes over the last few years, and I mean A LOT. As such I have collated my six favorite models right now that work on the golf course, but also off it, whether that be to the office, to the pub, and everything in between. For those of you unaware, there are a boatload of golf apparel brands to know about in 2026 and one of those is most certainly Seve Collection, which pays homage to the iconic Spanish golfer Severiano Ballesteros.

One of the best golf hybrids we've ever tested is the Ping G430 Hybrid, a club that not only scored an impressive 4.5 out of 5-star review, but also grabbed a much-coveted spot in the Golf Monthly Editors' Choice listings.

In his review, Sam De'Ath praised the G430 for upholding Ping’s reputation as a leader in forgiving, versatile hybrids. He noted that the G430 model packed in signature Ping quality, delivering sleek, attractive aesthetics paired with performance that genuinely elevates your game.

For UK golfers, Clubhouse Golf has the G430 reduced to just £209, from £295, a huge 29% saving. However, there are limited choices on loft, shaft and shaft flex.

A hybrid club can offer distinct performance advantages over long irons or fairway woods. They saw plenty of action in the 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, helping players cut through the notorious Birkdale rough. They also provide versatility off the tee, making Birkdale's tight fairways easier to hit.

The G430 Hybrid is fully customizable to suit an individual golfer's needs with an 8-position Adjustable Hosel that allows the club to be tuned for loft and lie to customize ball flight.

There are two shaft options to choose from, either the Ping Tour 2.0 85 or the Alta CB70 Black. Flex options come in Stiff, Regular and Senior, with loft choices from 19, 22 and 26 degrees.

We also put the G430 and its G440 sibling to a head-to-head test, and both delivered exceptional performance with very little to separate them. The Ping G440 is priced at $319, making this G430 deal even more appealing with that $60 saving.

At Golf Monthly we have been big fans of PRG Golf for a while now and if you are unaware of the brand, it makes some of the best golf accessories in the game, ranging from premium and unique headcovers, to ball markers, towels and so on.

With the state of my headcovers currently, this is music to my ears...

Ping G440 K vs Titleist GTS3 Driver: Read Our Head-To-Head Verdict

The Ping G440 K and the Titleist GTS3 drivers have plenty in common. For many players, the biggest question they both had to answer was this: how on earth could they follow their predecessors, both of which counted among their respective manufacturers' most successful-ever drivers.

There was never going to be a need in either case to reinvent the wheel, so the mission for both brands was more of the same plus some meaningful improvements.

The very fact that we're comparing these two new heads and not their brilliant predecessors means that both Ping and Titleist were successful in upping the ante. The Ping G440 K has already gone in the bags of players like Sahith Theegala, and occasionally Viktor Hovland, and I enjoyed its further-enhanced forgiveness - just as I did the higher-launching, lower-spinning bombs I hit with the Titleist GTS3.

I've tested both of these drivers thoroughly, and they're both right up there in the conversation when it comes to forgiveness as well. So, let's find out how the G440 K and GTS3 compare and see which would be a better fit for your game.

Technology

Ping's previous driver model, the G430 Max 10K, took the market by storm in early 2024 and became indisputably one of the best golf drivers for its ability to maximize forgiveness without compromising distance.

That's a pretty effective formula off the tee, and Ping has aimed to keep that balance with the G440 K, introducing a 32-gram adjustable back weight to further increase the amount of weight in the clubhead's perimeter and increase stability and forgiveness.

The G440K also adds a Dual Carbonfly Wrap and Free-Hosel Technology that save discretionary weight from the sole, crown, and hosel. This frees up close to 8 grams of weight and allows the club's Center of Gravity (CG) to be even lower and deeper for high MOI and more ball speed.

No matter what driver you're gaming right now, you've probably noticed the effects of the clubhead's CG, whether you realize it or not. If you suddenly hit one that launches high and flies forever with less spin, one glance at the clubface might show the ball's imprint a little above where the CG projects. It should come as no surprise, then, that the clubmakers are trying to give you this effect more often.

Similarly, the technology of Titleist's new GTS3 is one of evolution, not revolution. The driver head's Thermofoam Body has twice as much of Titleist's Proprietary Matrix Polymer compared to the previous driver generation, which also creates weight savings.

This has allowed Titleist to incorporate a dual-weight system featuring a forward track weight and a flat rear weight. This system, when put together with the brand's new Speed Sync Face, allows players to deliver serious clubhead speed while retaining stability and adjustability.

In my testing, I found that both manufacturers' technology stories did play out. I launched the ball higher with the Titleist GTS3 and spun it less, while the Ping 440 K gave me lots of ball speed despite keeping the spin up.

Looks

If you've liked any of the Ping drivers over the past few years, you shouldn't be disappointed by the G440 K. The general footprint and distinctive visual of the past couple of generations stay the same when you look down at the ball, and the clubhead is rounded and solid, inspiring plenty of confidence in that vital moment before you take it back.

I'm a fan of that beefier shape in a driver, but on the other hand, I don't really love the blue colorway Ping has introduced with the G440 series. Still, this is just a minor quibble, and your taste might be different from mine. Plus, the blue isn't really visible at address, so I only even saw it for the brief moment when removing my driver headcover.

The Titleist GTS3 also stays true to the brand's recent visual themes, and it looks and feels exceptionally premium with how sleek, modern, and devoid of ostentation it is. The chrome of the crown and the high-contrast face graphics are also an improvement, helping you to get aligned and see the loft on the clubhead.

However, I'm going to nitpick a little here, too. The sole of the GTS3 was sleek and shiny when the wrapper came off, but after a little bit of use, the glossy coating of the GTS series (which uses the same sole across the range) showed significant marking.

I also noticed that the black paint around the Titleist GTS3's new back port had bled onto the silver accents and even cracked and pooled in spots.

Again, this isn't something that I would notice when actually getting ready to hit the ball, but it's a disappointing lack of attention to detail that might allow the Ping G440 K to nudge ahead in the looks department... if, of course, you don't mind those ever-present turbulators.

Feel

One of the minor complaints I had with Ping's previous driver model was its acoustics, and the G440 K's composite crown bridge and acoustic sole 'ribs' have been implemented for that very reason.

These additions are designed to dampen unwanted vibrations, and when I hit the ball, I felt that the sound was more muted and the feel was solid. Impact felt strong with the G440 K and definitely reflected the added stability of the clubface and the distance I was producing.

The Titleist GTS3, meanwhile, pulls no punches in terms of impact feedback. On off-center hits, it felt harsh and hollow, which I suspect might come down to the PMP going further around the chassis.

But here's the kicker. In no way did the feel match the numbers. The GTS3 didn't really penalize me at all for missing the middle, but I still knew all about it thanks to the harsher feedback. Your mileage may vary on that, but I found it really helpful since it created an honest, unfiltered feedback loop without affecting ball flight.

Performance

I tested both the Ping G 440 K and the Titleist GTS3 using my Foresight Sports GC3 launch monitor, and the data painted a very clear picture for both clubs. The G440 K's stability meant that Ping more than maintains its reputation for making some of the most forgiving drivers on the market, while the Titleist GTS3 definitely makes it a close race by how good it was even when I missed the sweet spot.

It's also useful to have the numbers of both these clubs compared to their predecessors, since both are being measured against very successful original models as well as each other.

Ping has a bit of a reputation for running heavy, which might explain why my clubhead speed averaged out a bit lower when testing both the G440 K and the G430 Max 10K compared to the Titleist drivers. Of course, this is part of the whole MOI story, and I was actually able to generate more ball speed with the G440 K than the GTS3.

In my opinion, it was always going to be difficult to improve on the near-legendary G430 Max 10K. Still, the G440 K's adjustable back weighting takes things to the next level by letting you move the club's CG between draw, neutral, and fade settings to suit your shot shape. I found a lot of value in moving the weight behind my typical miss, which improved ball speed retention.

The Titleist GTS3 was the highest-launching of this group of drivers, beating its predecessor by almost a degree and the G440 K by half a degree. Add that to about 200 revs less of spin against the G440 K, and I was loving GTS3's recipe for launching those high, low-spin bombs off down the range.

This translated into plenty of distance, and I was carrying the ball just three yards short of 300 with the GTS3, despite its slightly lower ball speed. And, as I alluded to earlier, the launch monitor simply didn't bat an eyelid at a mishit, with exceptional ball speed retention and dispersion.

Conclusion

The Ping G440 K and the Titleist GTS3 are both going to send your ball miles down the fairway, but importantly, they're going to do so in very different ways despite also sharing similarities. Both are extremely forgiving drivers, and I found that I could practically hit the ball anywhere on the face of either club and still get it way down there and in play.

Aesthetically, neither veers away from the respective brand's current direction, although the Ping G440 K's blue colorways didn't quite suit my eye when I was pulling the headcover off. The turbulators remain a feature of the range, but they do contribute to the club's forgiveness factor.

The GTS3 is a brilliantly sleek club, but the question is how good it's still going to look after a little use, since it started showing a few too many signs of wear too quickly. Plus, the entire GTS series seems to have a little bit of a paintwork issue around the back port that takes away from the overall premium aesthetic.

Choosing between the two, however, might come down simply to what you want to feel and see once club meets ball. The Titleist GTS3 lets me know when I mishit it even though the ball flight doesn't, with high-launching, low-spinning drives going forever. With the Ping 440 K, it's all about excellent ball speed to get down the fairway, along with that new muted sound and wonderfully strong, solid feel.

Which club should you choose?

Choose the Ping G440 K driver if...

- You prefer a consistently more muted sound and solid feel
- You want to retain maximum forgiveness alongside high ball speed
- You are looking for adjustability to support your strike bias

Choose the Titleist GTS3 driver if...

- You want to hit higher launch windows with lower spin
- You need forgiveness but still want feedback on strike
- You like a sleek, minimalist look behind the ball

Golf Monthly ball guru Sam De’Ath praised the Pro as the ideal choice for golfers who prioritize a mix of distance and short-game control.

The 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale is nearly here and to celebrate Ben Lomond has unveiled a special edition gin which features hand-selected botanicals from around the course, including sweet blackcurrant berries, floral wild chamomile & the lemony tang of sorrel.

The links course itself is renowned for undulations and its rugged nature so the brand has sought to implement this feeling in its gin with a sense of wildness and unpredictability. It is a London Dry style gin with 43% ABV (alcohol by volume) and it retails for £32 ($43), and you can get it below.

I also really like the overall design of the bottle. It is classically subtle but features geometric illustrations and small references to the gin itself, the course, and The Open Championship.

“We’ve taken the spirit of Royal Birkdale – wild, windswept and rich in character – and captured it in a distinctive gin,” said Andy Jack, Head of Marketing at Loch Lomond Group. “Each Open Special Edition is designed to celebrate not just the Championship, but the unique landscape and heritage of its host venue.”

The brand has been creating these special edition bottles since 2023 and it has been the Major's official gin since that year as well.

With several collections released this year for each Major, Sun Day Red has continued this theme with the latest 'Royal Collection' which pays homage and celebrates The Open Championship, a tournament Tiger Woods has always had a particular collection to.

Winner of the tournament in 2000, 2005 and 2006, Woods' Sun Day Red brand has unveiled the new collection a week before the 2026 edition begins at Royal Birkdale, and I must say, I think it is my favorite drop from the brand this year. Dare I say it, it might be my favorite from any brand this year.

The collection features sublime little elements including corduroy pieces as well as lovely colors, with the burgundy being my particular favorite, especially on the shoes. There is also a tartan windbreaker and a reversible hoodie which the brand hasn't done before.

As usual it looks great, and I have picked out some of my favorite pieces below, including cool special edition versions of the Osprey shoes, along with classic polos, hoodies and more. I have to admit though, I need to get my hands on the long sleeve cashmere polo. and the icon cord hat, those are very cool indeed.

Beginner and casual golfers face an overwhelming amount of game-improving tech. If you're like me, a golfer who simply enjoys the walk, expensive rangefinders probably sit at the bottom of your priority list.

However, my expert colleagues at Golf Monthly agree that a rangefinder can vastly improve your round by delivering quick, accurate distances to the pin.

A rangefinder is judged on accurate yardages, and the CIGMAN hits the mark. Conor compared it directly against his premium Garmin Approach Z30 and confirmed matching accuracy. It also delivers lightning-fast readings, locking onto targets in under a second, validating CIGMAN's speed claims.

In summing up his review, Conor reckoned the CIGMAN was a perfectly reliable rangefinder that delivered the goods, and was real value for money – and it's now even better value in this deal. He pointed out that, as you'd expect at this price, it's a more beginner-friendly rangefinder, or a first device if you're new to the benefits of a golf rangefinder.

The 4th of July is always a big celebration, but 2026 is even bigger. As we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States of America, we're about to see A LOT of red, white and blue out there - be that at whatever party you're attending, at your local supermarket or even on the golf course.

As the Golf Monthly putter tester, I have managed to get my hands on a lot of different flat-sticks over the last few years. The 154th Open Championship is not far away and to celebrate what should be a brilliant tournament at Royal Birkdale, Loch Lomond Whiskies has unveiled two limited-edition single malts which are perfect for the whiskey connoisseur you know. (Or maybe you want them for yourself...)

The two malts are The Open Course Collection (£195, 46.9% ABV), and The Open Special Edition (£45, 46% ABV), with both featuring really cool, eye-catching packaging. It is worth acknowledging that only 3,000 bottles of the Course Collection will be available worldwide so I'm confident they will be a sought after piece of Open memorabilia, and a delicious one at that.

If you are unaware of the brand, Loch Lomond Whiskies is an award-winning independent distiller which has not only been making whiskies since 1814, but has been producing special edition collections for The Open Championship for a number of years now.

As mentioned there are two malts to choose from here and I've included some notes on the nose, taste and finish below so you can really get an understanding of each whisky.

The Open Course Collection

• Nose: Toasted oak, apple, ginger and vanilla.
• Taste: Toffee, pineapple, lemon, cinnamon spice, with red berries and dried fruits from the Tawny Port casks.
• Finish: Long with warming oak spice, dried fruit sweetness and soft smoke.

The Open Special Edition

• Nose: Dark berries, redcurrant and citrus zest with vanilla, honey and soft malt.  
• Taste: Blackberry, raspberry and peach syrup, layered with crisp apple, toffee sweetness and gentle spice. A subtle thread of smoke runs through the palate.
• Finish: Medium length with lingering berry sweetness, soft oak spice and light, smoky warmth.

Some other small details I want to mention here -

The packaging on the Course Collection features every Championship venue, date and winner, from Prestwick in 1860 through to Royal Portrush in 2025. Whilst the Special Collection was actually created in collaboration with Colin Montgomerie, a Scottish golfer who requires little introduction.
