Bettinardi has produced some of the best putters in the game for a number of years now, so when I heard it was releasing some iron models to market, I was very curious to see what it would come up with.

The Bettinardi MB24 is the first of the models I have gotten my hands on, so let's see if they can compete with the best blade irons on the market.

In terms of the technology, as you would imagine with irons sitting in the blade category, the MB24 isn’t swamped with features, but there is some engineering lurking within. The head is a one-piece forging of 1025 carbon steel but within that, they also feature what Bettinardi refers to as tri-material construction. Essentially, this is the internal introduction of high-density tungsten and military-grade CMC (Ceramic Matrix Composite) that is aimed at maximizing forgiveness and also allows Bettinardi to pinpoint CG locations depending on the loft of the club. This is aimed at providing more launch in the long irons and better spin control in the scoring clubs.

The aesthetic profile of the MB24 is an interesting case. From the back, they are stunning. The brushed satin finish gives a very premium look and the minimal branding complements that perfectly. As with its sibling the CB24, the fine detailing in the lower portion of the head looks fantastic sat in the bag, so from a shelf appeal point of view they are up there with any of the best irons in the game.

In the playing position down by the ball, however, I am not quite sold. The overall footprint just feels a little too big to me and the top line is not as thin as I would like it to be in this category of iron. For example, when placed next to the Callaway Apex MB or Titleist 620 MB, the blade length and top line, in particular, become very noticeable. Similarly, shape-wise, the profile just doesn’t quite suit my eye, the transition from hosel to head is a little too high for me and overall they just look a bit clumsy at address compared to some of the other best blade irons.

Performance-wise, the MB24 irons stack up nicely against the competition. I did my testing at Saunton Golf Club using my FullSwing KIT launch monitor with TaylorMade TP5 golf balls. Across the board, the MB24 was competitive with anything else in the category in all major ball data parameters such as ball speed and carry distance, and delivered a nice, mid-spin number of 6744 rpm which produced a very manageable flight window.

In terms of workability, I found it relatively easy to manipulate the trajectory both from a height and left-to-right point of view and there was good feedback from strike. 

From a feel point of view, the MB24 is excellent. There is a real depth to strike and when I missed the centre of the face, they didn’t feel as harsh as some blades suggesting the internal weighting is doing a good job. 

The MB24 irons come with an RRP of $1600 for a seven-iron set and come with a couple of stock shaft options (KBS Tour and Dynamic Gold MID 100) and numerous other custom offerings. The stock grip is a Bettinardi logoed Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360.

The Bettinardi MB24 is an excellent blade iron in many ways and a strong first entry to the market. The slight reservations I have over the address profile are of course subjective, some players may absolutely love them. Based on the feel and performance, I would certainly recommend trying them to find out.

Bettinardi has been responsible for dreaming up some of the best putters in the game for a long time, so when news broke that it was releasing some iron models to market, I was very interested to see what followed. In this review, I am looking at the CB24 model that aims to take its place amongst the best irons of 2024.

In terms of design, the head is a one-piece forging of 1025 carbon steel but within that, they also feature what Bettinardi refers to as tri-material construction. The CB24 aims to provide ultimate playability through the progressive CG location and perimeter weighting.

From a looks perspective, much like the MB24 model, Bettinardi has done an exceptional job in terms of shelf appeal here. The cavity detailing is exquisite and the small chrome accents really pop on the otherwise brushed satin finish. I would never get bored of looking at these in the bag. However, as with the MB24, down by the ball they aren’t as pretty as some for me. The refinement of the back of the clubhead isn’t mirrored down by the ball where they look a bit cumbersome in my opinion. 

The top line is a touch thicker than many other irons in this category such as the Titleist T100 or the Mizuno Pro 243, giving them a somewhat chunky look at address. Furthermore, I am not a big fan of the transitions from hosel to head, or probably even more so from the hosel to the leading edge. The transition line just pinches in a little too much for me creating the illusion of more offset than is actually present. As always though, aesthetics are very much a subjective topic and some people may well be looking for that slightly meatier look in their irons.

The overall performance of the CB24 irons was very good, both from a data perspective and also in the more unquantifiable areas such as feel, turf interaction, and workability. I tested the Bettinardi CB24 irons at Saunton Golf Club, with TaylorMade TP5 golf balls and gathered data using my FullSwing KIT launch monitor.

I found a touch more ball speed than with the MB24 model, which was reflected in the slightly livelier feel, while launch and spin remained pretty similar, producing an average 7-iron carry number of 177 yards. This sits pretty much in the middle of the pack of the irons I have tested in 2024 in the low handicap iron category.

My highlight of testing was the feel of the CB24 which was very high-end. There’s a real depth to strike but also a hint of liveliness which is a pleasant combination and the contoured sole does a good job of guiding the clubhead smoothly through the turf.

The CB24 irons come with an RRP of $1600 for a seven-iron set and come with a couple of stock shaft options (KBS Tour and Dynamic Gold MID 100) along with numerous other custom offerings. The stock grip is a Bettinardi logoed Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360.

On the whole, despite my misgivings around the address profile, the Bettinardi CB24 irons are a really solid set of forged cavity back irons, that will not only perform well but will also feel great and look sensational in your golf bag!

 Bettinardi BB28 Spud Putter Review

Bettinardi was founded in 1998 and has produced fine milled putters ever since, with the likes of Matt Fitzpatrick winning the 2022 U.S Open Championship with one in play, albeit a custom model. If a milled face is a priority for you when looking for a new putter, the Bettinardi BB28 Spud putter is well worth considering. The BB28 has been beautifully constructed from a single piece of 303 stainless steel, the same metal trusted by contracted Bettinardi players on all major professional tours. 

In order to gain a full understanding about the Bettinardi BB28, I took it for a spin on the course to see how the putter performs and whether it can be considered one of the best golf putters released this year. As someone who has gravitated towards a milled putter face, I was particularly excited to see how the BB28 putter would feel compared to the likes of the Queen B 11 putter I recently tested. 

The two have different milling patterns on the face, the Queen B was crafted with a Mini Honeycomb pattern and the BB28 with an Aggressive Flymill face milling design, which provided a soft feel that still gave me plenty of feedback on strike location. I noticed I putted fairly consistently from distance with the BB28 and seemed to get the ball to the hole easily thanks to the responsive face. This did however take a little getting used to when putting down hill, as I found myself often running some efforts a few feet past.

The Bettinardi BB28 putter comes to market as one of the most forgiving models in the Bettinardi range and unsurprisingly is one of the most forgiving putters we have tested this year. The putter comes in a double-wide shape and is finished in a clean looking Graphite Gray PVD which I think makes this putter look really premium but also confidence inspiring when set at address. The PVD finish really highlights the craftsmanship of the milling and has been formulated so it shouldn’t wear off over time.

Despite the carefully designed perimeter weighted head of the BB28 putter and high MOI characteristics, I did find myself often missing putts to the right of the hole. The combination of a head designed to stay completely stable and a flow neck, may not be the best choice for someone who has more release in their putting stroke like myself, or who uses a traditional blade style putter with more toe-hang. I managed to adjust by aiming a little left and managed to get the putter working beautifully for me. I thought the putter allowed me to start the ball on line regularly once my alignment was correct and its premium looks make this one of the best mallet putters I have tested.

The BB28 Spud Putter is one of the best Bettinardi putters in the current range thanks to its excellent feel and stylish aesthetics. The BB28 retails at £429 and comes with a choice of two excellent stock grip options - the Lamkin Sink Fit in either standard shape or Jumbo, one of the best putter grips on the market.

 Bettinardi Queen B 11 Putter Review

The Bettinardi Queen B franchise was first introduced in 2015 and has always stood out among Bettinardi putters due to the variation of head shapes and non-traditional bronze finishes. While in 2023 some obscure head shapes and putter necks are present among the latest Queen B lineup, it’s the new Caramel Copper PVD finish to these putters that steals the headlines. This beautiful finish provides an aura of elegance, is extremely durable and has practical features such as being glare-resistant, which will come in handy when playing in peak sunlight hours.

It has to be said, as someone who has used more traditional looking heads and has only wavered once away from a classic platinum colored putter, the Queen B 11 putter was one that took time to warm to. Every time I walked past it in the house I would pick it up and make a few strokes and after a few days I really became fond of the finish and also the slightly non-symmetrical head shape. The slightly toe-heavy profile is idea for someone who struggles to close the face through impact. It’s fairly close to half-moon style head but also similar to an Odyssey number 9 head synonymous with Phil Mickleson down the years. The hosel on the Queen B 11 is one I have never seen before - a Bettinardi take on a slant neck, but it certainly works in creating some toe hang and a clean look.

Even if the color finish isn’t to your particular taste, the fine milling and detail that goes into the Bettinardi Queen B 11 putter is sure to impress. The new mini honeycomb milling on the face is a byproduct of consulting some of the best players in the world, the likes of Matt Fitzpatrick and Matt Kuchar who are both Bettinardi ambassadors. This new milling is eight percent smaller than the previous honeycomb milling on Bettinardi putters and provided one of the softest, yet most responsive feelings I have experienced from a milled putter face, matching the likes of some of the best Scotty Cameron putters. 

Putting from distance has been a weakness of mine for a while, yet I felt as though I was as in control as I have ever been from range with the Queen B 11. The white singular sight line running from the back of the face provides excellent alignment on those knee-knocking 3 footers, making this one of the best mallet putters I have had the pleasure of playing with and earning it a place on the 2023 Editor's Choice list.

Considering the putter grip is the link between the golfer and the clubhead, one of my bugbears with putters in particular is when a lovely looking head is mismatched with a poor grip. That is not the case with the Bettinardi Queen B 11 thanks to a deep etched Sink Fit Lamkin grip fitted as standard. This slightly over-sized, pistol style grip is a superb addition to this already impressive putter offering and while it is a fairly soft rubber, there is plenty of feedback from the grip which all good players look for.

The Bettinardi Queen B 11 is a premium looking and performing putter that was a pleasure to use and certainly matched many of the best golf putters launched this year. While the Caramel Copper PVD finish may take some time to get used to, it’s certainly worth persisting with. Coming in at $430/£429, they're not cheap - but in this case, you get what you pay for.

Bettinardi HLX 5.0 Wedge Review

Bettinardi is a brand that often flies under the radar when releasing new equipment but the product is not to be overlooked. Some of the best players in the game, such as 2022 U.S Open Champion Matt Fitzpatrick and Matt Kuchar, trust a Bettinardi putter to get them over the line on a Sunday afternoon.

The new HLX 5.0 wedges are available in two contrasting finishes, a forged chrome and a stealth-like forged graphite PVD. Both options look superb in the bag and the level of detail created from the milling is visually stunning. This milling prowess is also highlighted by the honeycomb pattern seen on the face of some of the best Bettinardi putters. These new-look HLX 5.0 wedges have been designed to offer tour-level performance by raising the center of gravity by five percent to allow for lower flighted wedge shots, in-turn giving the user more control. The raised center of gravity as a deign element is something I love, as I always look to flight my wedges lower but have always had to have custom-built, heavier shafts in order to help me achieve this trajectory I look for.

One of the ways the Bettinardi HLX 5.0 wedges have been refined for ultimate performance is by being forged from a soft carbon steel, in order to give players an unrivaled feel around the greens and use on any ground conditions. There are two wedge grinds available, the C-grind and the RJ-grind. The former will appeal to those who play wedge shots in a traditional manner with a square face and has less bounce to help with shots from tight lies. Conversely the RJ-grind is a high-bounce, versatile sole that allows golfers to manipulate their setup in order to produce a variety of shots around the greens. 

During some recent testing of the HLX 5.0 wedges, I played a numerous of rounds on both damper turf conditions as well as dry, firmer ground. Interestingly I actually preferred and felt more confident using the C-grind on the softer ground. Despite the narrower sole, I felt I could still open up the face and use the bounce to my advantage on some iffy muddy lies. I think as someone who drives through chip shots and takes a small divot, less bounce is something I naturally gravitate towards.

The RJ-grind 58° model I used on the firm turf did however surprise me. I typically play a 60° wedge with very little bounce due to my technique, however the HLX 5.0 wedge filled me with confidence, providing exceptional relief off the tightly cut surrounds and allowed me to hit high, spinny approaches, making it one of the best lob wedges I have used. This is also largely down to the Bettinardi Helix Cut machining tool, which allows the American brand to create more pronounced groove depth and in-turn allows the wedges to create more spin.

All in all the Bettinardi HLX 5.0 wedges are a serious contender among the best golf wedges on the market. Because of the narrow top line and lack of cavity, these wouldn't necessarily be considered some of the best wedges for beginners, yet aimed at a more proficient ball striker. There are a few minor blemishes that stop the HLX 5.0 wedges being considered the best in the game. Firstly the C-grind and RJ-grind are the only two grinds available, compared to the likes of the Titleist SM9 franchise which has over double the amount on offer. The other would be the higher price tag of the HLX 5.0 wedges that retail at $220/£219, but due to the use of premium materials and fine milling, I would say the price is somewhat justified. The wedges are available in seven loft options from 46° to 60° and can purchased directly via the Bettinardi website.

Pushing the boundaries of design and innovation, Bettinardi is a putter brand growing in popularity and achieving notable success out on the leading world Tours. In fact, their founder, Robert Bettinardi, was a pioneer when it came to producing one-piece milled face putters and was so well known that almost every player in the 1990s was seeking his work after Bettinardi were contracted to produce putter for all PGA Tour players.

Most stable

The INOVAI has four separate head options, and this is the most unorthodox of the lot. The unique fang design might not be for every solely based off the looks, but we urge you to try it out before dismissing it if it doesn't suit your eye. We think it looks great, with the slick and more compact look providing a premium feel and performance to match.

A constructed hexagonal shape and fangs are designed to optimize the putter’s MOI (Moment of Inertia) thanks to triangular vents that save weight, which is then distributed to the perimeter to help provide stability and forgiveness. What's more, as it's built from 303 Stainless Steel front piece and a 6061 Military Grade Aluminium back piece, we knew that we were getting consistent results time after time.

This putter sat beautifully square at address and I particularly liked the added color in addition to the dual alignment lines which led to easy set up behind the ball before the strike. Ultimately, one should opt for a mallet putter in the chase for forgiveness and this is a model that provides that in abundance, making this easily is one of the most forgiving putters on the market.

Best feel

What sets the Antidote SB1 out from the rest of the best zero torque putters on the market is that it offers a more compact and aesthetically pleasing blade-like profile compared to many of its bulkier competitors. Utilizing 'Simply Balanced' technology, the putter is engineered to stay naturally square throughout the stroke by aligning the shaft axis directly through the center of gravity.

At the heart of the SB1's performance is the precision-milled 303 stainless steel body featuring Bettinardi’s F.I.T. (Feel Impact Technology) Face. By removing 55% of the face material through a deep groove pattern, the design minimizes vibrations to produce an exceptionally soft, buttery feel and a muted sound at impact - both of which were a delight to experience during testing. While the center-shafted look and negative offset may take some visual adjustment, the technical construction ensured the face remains square to the path without manual manipulation.

Testing also revealed superb distance control and surprising forgiveness for such a compact head, particularly on long-range lag putts where the zero-torque design helps maintain a tight line. While the extremely soft feel might require an adjustment on slower greens, it still feels brilliant and the overall performance from inside 10ft in particular is excellent.

Best looking

Not only is the BB28 Spud the best looking putter on this list, it's also got the best name - however we do not think it's dedicated to the vegetable.

It might not provide the same level of forgiveness as the two mallet putter we have included above, but this remains a very user-friendly putter, especially considering it is a blade. So much so, we'd consider it one of the most forgiving putters in the blade category. The graphite gray finish looks superb - beautifully simple but classy at the same time. The double-wide shape also ensure it sits lovely behind the ball, giving it a premium look and feel that will inspire confidence in golfers of all abilities.

The aggressive Flymill face milling design provides a soft feel on the greens that will give a nice level of feedback on strike location. This helped us lock in consistent long putts during testing thanks to the responsive feedback. Ultimately, we thought the putter allowed us to start the ball on line regularly once alignment was correct and its premium looks make this one of the best mallet putters we have tested.

Best for consistent roll

The BB49 is an eye-catching putter, not only because it looks wonderful, but also courtesy of the unique 'Savannah Blue' finish that provides a sophisticated satin-oil appearance that pops in the sunlight. Paired with a brushed nickel shaft and a light grey pistol grip, the BB49 presents a high-end aesthetic that will appeal to players looking for a compact mallet to match a moderate arc in their stroke.

The core technology here is the new Variable Depth Flymill (VDF) Face, which features nine individually tuned precision-milled zones. By utilizing deeper grooves in the center and shallower ones toward the perimeter, Bettinardi has optimized energy transfer to maintain consistent ball speeds on off-center strikes. This engineering results in exceptional distance control and a predictable roll, offering the kind of stability and forgiveness usually reserved for much larger, high-MOI mallets.

Without sounding hyperbolic, I'd honestly describe this putter as an underrated masterpiece that offers tour-level performance and high-end bag appeal for golfers who want a compact putter head that is bigger than a blade but also delivers plenty of forgiveness and a buttery soft feel.

Best premium model

This might be one of the prettiest putter on the market of any category and is easy to fall in love with, something I really value with a putter. The unique bronze finish and nat d-shaped head of the Queen B 11 oozes premium class, with the ball looking as good behind the ball as it does when in the bag. The rustic look really catches the eye but is subtle at the same time.

The looks are an obvious plus, but this putter performs as good as it looks. The bronze finish comes with a glare-resistant paint that will come in handy on those sunny days on the golf course, whilst the overall weight of the putter in your hand is something we noted during testing. It's slightly toe-heavy, great some those who tend to close the face during the impact zone of putts. The half moon shape is appealing and reminds us of Phil Mickelson when standing over putts. It offers lovely feel and feedback.

The new honeycomb milling is 8% smaller than the honeycomb milling on some of the older Bettinardi models. This smaller impact area allows better connection with the golf ball, leading to a softer but equally more responsive feel on each putt - just like you might find on some of the best Scotty Cameron putters.

I thought this putter excelled with longer putts during testing. The single sight line on the crown proved a great help with alignment and will help players improve their accuracy no matter their ability. Ultimately, this is a premium putter that we really enjoyed using and matched up with many of the best golf putters available right now.

How we test putters

When it comes to product testing, our reviews and buyers' guides are built upon a rigorous testing procedure as well as the knowledge and experience of the test team. Headed up by expert tester Sam De'Ath, we ensure our putter testings are conducted over multiple rounds of golf across multiple days at different golf courses. We also try our best to test the putters out in different weather conditions to ensure the most thorough and fair test possible to really put each product through their paces.

Due to the fact we test so many products here at Golf Monthly, we are often in the position to test multiple items at once. For example, if Sam is testing one of the best golf rangefinders or best golf stand bags he can also test out the latest Bettinardi putter during the same round. This ensures we get as much playing time with the product as possible, meaning we put ourselves in the best position to accurately rate the club, giving you both the pros and cons of the performance.

Also, because Sam heads up the putter division of our review team, he also has the pleasure of testing some of the best putting mats on the market. How to choose a new putter

1. Type (Blade/Mallet/High MOI)

Depending on your skills, confidence and preference, the type of putter you use can be a hinderance or a game changer. As the general rule goes, more experienced golfers are likely better off using a bladed putter, simply because they are less forgiving than mallet or high MOI options. But that doesn't mean the latter are worse off or won't help you drain putts from 30-yards out. In fact many Tour professionals use high MOI and mallet putters. Ultimately it comes down to how you swing the putter and the smoothness of your stroke. These putters offer greater control and forgiveness on off-centre shots. For that reason, they are an excellent choice for any player, but particularly those with higher handicaps.

2. Size

The size of your putter can seriously affect how you swing through the golf ball. If a putter is too long for you, then you'll find yourself hitting your putts fat, adding unwanted spin on the ball and preventing it from rolling true. Conversely, if your putter is too long, you may top the ball and send it flying in the wrong direction. My best advice, when buying any new club for that matter, is to test it extensively before you buy it.

3. Feel

Different putters come with different club faces that will, in turn, deliver a different feel on the golf ball. Depending on what you're looking for, whether thats a dull sound or an aluminium touch, feel is an important factor to consider when buying a putter. It's also worth noting the loft of the clubface. SIK's putters are designed to deliver true rolls with any swing type, thanks to their patented Loft Technology, which makes SIK a great brand to consider if you're struggling to put a smooth roll on the golf ball.

4. Alignment tools

It's also worth thinking about the alignment tools the putter offers. While some golfers may not prefer to have any aiming guides on the back of their putters, most players can seriously benefit from having an aiming line on the back of their putter which can also help to improve your focus on the ball and help you strike through the shot more square.

5. Price

Our final tip is to think about price because while there are some premium designs out there, there are also some models which offer excellent value, as the selections above show. Sometimes less experienced players should steer clear of the more expensive offerings currently on the market which may actually not be very forgiving and may not be suitable for your swing style.

Bettinardi is known for making some of the best golfer putters on the market, with their models used by some of the best on the professional circuit. However, the company is hitting the headlines after their putters were spotted in Costco against their consent.

After a number of Studio Queen B Putters were pictured in Costco for $320, the company released a statement 12 hours later. In the release, it said: "In an attempt to increase Bettinardi Golf's distribution in South America, one of our distributors chose to break their contract and sell their Bettinardi product to Costco without the consent of Bettinardi Golf."  

The statement then went on to say: "We take great pride and work very hard to choose the very best retail partners around the globe to carry our high-end products.

"We are extremely disappointed that one of our distributors would choose to diminish our brand and end our relationship in this way. Bettinardi Golf is actively pursuing all courses of action to have this product removed from all Costco stores and the Costco website."

It ends with: "Costco is not an official distributor of Bettinardi Golf. We have no further comment at this time."

Costco, which is one of the largest retailers in the world, is known for selling an array of golfing equipment and even offers some of the best golf club sets, such as the MacGregor DCT3000. 

Bettinardi are known as one of the premium putting brands on the market, with Matt Fitzpatrick using one of their putters on his way to securing his first major title at the US Open back in June.

Other users of the brand include Matt Kuchar, Fred Couples, Sam Horsfield, Jason Kokrak, as well as Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Patty Tavatanakit.

How Bettinardi Has Become One Of The Most Premium Brands In Golf

Founded in 1998 by manufacturer, designer and entrepreneur Robert J. BB Series

The BB Series is made up primarily of traditional blades that are precision milled from one piece of 303 Stainless Steel; providing  a responsive feel and classic looks behind the ball. The BB8 Wide is designed for the player seeking a more traditional style putter head but is still seeking plenty of forgiveness and confidence from off-centre strikes. The new 2022 BB8 Wide has been engineered with a slightly shorter heel-to-toe and a thinner, Tour-inspired topline. Altogether, it offers a sleek design with fine-tuned performance and acoustics. 

The BB46 represents an all-new compact mallet addition to the BB Series. Designed with feedback from players on the PGA and LPGA Tours, the BB46 has been crafted with a newly featured crowned topline, tight precision-milled radiuses and a single bend shaft that effortlessly flows into the head. Together, it provides golfers with a near face-balanced putter option in the BB series. 

Finally in the BB Series are the BB1 and BB1F putters. This is Robert J. Bettinardi’s most classic piece of work, one that has been refined over generations and generations of improvements. The plumber’s neck offers a more traditional appearance and moderate toe hang, while the head is precisely milled to 350 grams.The BB1F is a flow neck putter, offering all the same looks and performance with a three-quarter toe hang. This is the head shape that most recently in the hands of Matt Fitzpatrick won the US Open.

Inovai Series

The all new Inovai 8.0 was designed and engineered by Sam Bettinardi to provide players with a putter that offers maximum forgiveness and confidence while putting. It is made with a 303 Stainless Steel front piece for a solid feel at impact while the rear of the putter is made using Military Grade 6061 Aluminium body. The rear design of the Inovai 8.0 putter head gives it a defined look at address while offering more stability and high MOI. 

Available in three variations, the Spud Neck provides minimal toe hang for those with a straight-back, straight-through putting stroke while the Slant Neck provides a slight toe hang and for those with a slight to moderate arc. There is also an armlock version with minimal toe hang and either a 41” or 42” shaft to lock the putter alongside the forearm. 

The newly re-engineered Inovai 6.0 features a 5% smaller head from heel-to-toe, offering a sleek, more compact design than its predecessor. Much like the Inovai 8.0, the 6.0 uses a combination of 303 Stainless Steel at the front and 6061 Aluminium at the back to create a solid feel off the face with cleverly distributed weight for maximum MOI. Available in a Spud Neck with minimal toe hang and Slant Neck for a quarter toe hang, there is a centre shaft option available for a fully face-balanced putter. 

Queen B Series

Elegance meets performance in the Queen B Series, made up of three putter models. The Queen B6 is a classic, wide body blade with performance benefits that will suit a player seeking the perfect crossover between blade and mallet. A thinner, Tour-inspired topline with softened and rounded edges make for a modern aesthetic while the single bend shaft is perfect for players with a straight-back, straight-through stroke. 

The Queen B11 offers a more compact mallet shape with soft flowing contours and a crescent-milled neck that provides those with a slight arc in the putting stroke the perfect companion. The design of the puter brings the centre of gravity of the putter to the exact middle of the head for maximum forgiveness and control at impact. Finally in the Queen B Series, the B12 offers players a compact blade shape with a crowned topline to give the putter a beautiful aesthetic for enhanced optics at address. Studio Stock Series

The high-performance Studio Stock Series is the most extensive in Bettinardi’s current catalogue. With four models available, as well as armlock and centre-shaft options, the Studio Stock Series has a rich heritage of over 20 years of precision and performance. 

The Studio Stock 18 is without a doubt one of the most timeless blades Robert Bettinardi has designed to date. It features a plumbers neck which sits slightly back, offering just the right amount of offset at address. The SS 18 also features a crowned topline design and a low profile body for players looking for the most traditional blade aesthetic possible. 

The Studio Stock 28 is a near face-balanced blade with subtle, refined contours and a thinner topline. This shape allows for greater perimeter weighting and higher MOI characteristics, making it one of the most forgiving models in the Studio Stock Series. It is also available with a centre shaft and armlock variants both of which also are face balanced. 

The Studio Stock 17 is a more angular, slightly wider blade versus the other models. Players will notice the soft, tri-plane design on the sole that allows for a consistent set up over every putt. The high toe topline and one piece milled slant neck make for a half toe hang, ideal for the player with a more pronounced arc in the putting stroke.

Finally in the Studio Stock Series is the face-balanced SS 7. This is a compact mid-mallet with strong visual cues on the greens to help you line up the ball and the blade more effectively. It’s an original Bettinardi design with a unique half moon shape that allows players to effortlessly line the ball up at address. The positioning of the spud neck with a single bend shaft makes for a perfectly face-balanced putter for excellent overall stability. 

Bettinardi Inovai 8 Putter Review

The Bettinardi Inovai 8.0 putter is the face balanced mallet model of the 2022 line and features a number of changes from the previous Inovai models including a different shape.

The shiny Diamond Blast front section of the head is milled from 303 stainless steel and features a Roll Control section of grooves cut into the face to promote a better roll of the ball. This has less points of contact with the ball so it also creates a softer feel, meaning that the sound from the Bettinardi Inovai 8.0 is very good.

Behind the leading edge is the black 6061 military grade aluminum body that is hollowed out on the underside to push weight to the edges and rear to improve the MOI of the Bettinardi Inovai 8.0 putter. On top there are two wings milled in to the contoured surface either side of the long white alignment line which also improves the MOI and gives a classy stealth look.

The contrast between the two sections almost makes it look like two putters joined together, with the shiny front section resembling the type of short blade putter of yesteryear. In the Inovai 8.0 it is supplemented by the larger body to create a mallet so this style may appeal to those who want the look of a blade with more forgiveness.

As mallets go it is more of a compact mallet, similar in size to the TaylorMade Spider X putter in size so may appeal more to better players. The forgiveness is good for this size of head and the sound is solid, if sometimes a touch on the hollow side due to the cavity on the sole.

The model tested came with the Spud single bend hosel making it a face balanced putter, but you can also order a slant neck if you prefer some toe hang. The excellent Bettinardi branded Lamkin Sink Fit grip comes in standard and jumbo sizes, or if you go for the longer armlock putter then you can get a Winn grip too.

Visually the Bettinardi Inovai 8.0 putter is a big improvement on the previous Innovai models and combines functional style with quality performance in a compact head with a lovely milled face.

The Bettinardi BB1 2022 Putter is an upgrade to previous BB1 versions as it is now milled from a single block of 303 Stainless Steel for better feel and more durability.The face has also come in for some extra treatment as the new Aggressive Flymill face features a flat face with deeper grooves that will create a softer feel. That is because there will be less of the face to make contact with the ball, which is turn creates a softer sound that is perceived as softer feel.

Bettinardi putters have always been good at this and the BB1 2022 model is no different. There is even a mill grind on the back edge of the putter, if you like that sort of thing. The feel at impact is very solid out of the middle and you will know if you miss it. This backs up the impression of a premium putter, even if in this model the sound is a little thinner than some of the others in the BB range due to the narrower blade style.

At address the Bettinardi BB1 2022 putter seems to have quite a long blade length which helps the forgiveness, which is pretty good for this head design. The plumbers neck hosel creates a half toe hang and the shaft has 70° lie angle and comes in 34 and 35 inch shafts, or any custom length if you order direct online.

The head is finished off in a dark grey PVD finish, which is a halfway house between black and silver that you usually find on these premium putter heads and is a good compromise for those who like a stealth look that is not too dark.

The Bettinardi branded Lamkin Sink Fit grip is a pistol shape with a flat front and take on the Greek key pattern gives a rough feel to the rubber that enhances your grip. You can also opt for a Jumbo version if you prefer to take your hands out of the stroke more.

The premium looks come with a premium price and this puts the Bettinardi BB1 2022 putter right at the top end of the market and it is worthy of this position. It might lack a little pizzazz, but it is a precision instrument and will suit anyone who likes traditional classic looks in a 100% milled steel putter design.

Bettinardi Studio Stock 18 Putter Review

Bettinardi is a putter brand with a growing reputation thanks to its wide range of styles and models as well as an increasing presence out on tour, including players like Matthew Fitzpatrick.

The Studio Stock range is its more traditional offering in terms of looks but modern performance remains at its core. The SS18 model we tried is one of two blade styles available and it is very pleasing on the eye with its warm satin finish and clean lines combined with rounded corners.

The shape is very long from heel to toe, arguably too long given how short the flange is from front to back, but the sightline provides help with alignment and finish oozes class.

The star of the show is the face design, specifically the groove pattern, which helps produce a soft, gentle sound at impact. We’ve found the speed off the face to be slightly down on most of the best putters we’ve tried, but once you’ve recalibrated this in your mind it actually encourages a more positive, committed putting stroke and certainly comes in handy when playing on fast greens.

It looks more lofted than it is, which allows you to see more off the face and assists with performance when putting from the fringe. The sheer length from heel to toe creates an illusion of forgiveness because you’ve got so much face to work with, and while it feels as stable as most other blades we’ve tested, other models in the Studio Stock range will offer more stability if this is something you prioritise. The SS18 is more aimed at feel players, possibly slightly lower handicappers that like a soft, controlled feel that also play a firmer feeling golf ball.

The grips options also impressed us - there’s the jumbo grip and the smaller, standard pistol grip that we tested, which has a firm but tacky feel and a wide, flat front edge to position our thumbs for a comfortable hold. A special mention also must go to the very stylish and eye catching bright red headcover which tops off what is an excellent offering from Bettinardi.

Hoping to build on a strong 2017 season, Francesco Molinari will be switching to Bettinardi's BB56 putter this year.

Francesco Molinari Signs With Bettinardi

European Ryder Cup star Francesco Molinari has changed flat-sticks ahead of the 2018 season, after signing with Bettinardi Golf.

He will use the company's new BB56 putter.

Molinari, who hopes the new short-stick will springboard a bid to reclaim his place in Europe's Ryder Cup side next September, says that he is "delighted" to have signed with the Italian brand and can't wait to begin playing what he "believes to be the best performing and finest looking putters on tour."

The Italian golfer enjoyed a successful 2017 season, registering two runner-up finishes in the USPGA Championship and the BMW PGA Championship respectively.

Molinari also chalked up multiple top-10 finishes across the year, including tying for 6th in golf's 'unofficial 5th major', The Players Championship.

He was disappointed, however, not to come away with a victory during the season, something he's hoping his new Bettinardi putter will help rectify going in to 2018.

Speaking about his decision to play Bettinardi's BB56 model specifically during the new year, Francesco explained: "I've tested different Bettinardi models in my quest to win on tour in 2018 and make the Ryder Cup team again, and the BB56 sits perfectly for me.

Echoing Molinari's enthusiasm over the signing, Bettinardi Golf's president and CEO Robert Bettinardi, hailed the new partnership with Francesco as "fantastic news for the Bettinardi brand."

He added that the Bettinardi group are "thrilled to have [Molinari] on board" and have been "working closely with him to enhance his performance on the greens."

Molinari's BB56 is one of several attractive and technologically-advanced models in Bettinardi's new BB series of putters.

All the models in the new range are made from only the highest quality base materials, but only the BB56 is made with military grade aluminium.

The BB56 also boasts an exclusive 303 Stainless Steel topline to promote better roll and more forgiveness, as well as an aerodynamically-contoured club-head and Bettinardi's new Super-Fly Mill Face.

Five New Bettinardi Putters Revealed

Milled putter specialist Bettinardi is introducing five new putters for the 2018 season, including a brand new BB Series collection and an iNOVAi 5.0 mallet selection.

The full 2018 range, consisting of 12 premium putters across its four ranges - including the  Queen B and Studio Stock models - is hand-crafted from a single piece of high-quality milled carbon steel using hi-tech CNC milling technology at the brand’s state-of-the-art factory, just outside Chicago.

“We’re extremely excited with the range for this season, as we have even more innovative technology mixed with the best face-milling technology in the game,” said Sam Bettinardi, Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

“We have increased the Bettinardi Tour presence across the PGA, European and LPGA Tours and used the feedback from many elite players to refine a range that offers a putter to suit every golfer,” he added.

The new BB Series, which has been part of the Bettinardi line-up since 1999, features a striking new look. Finished in a durable ‘stealth’ Matte Black colourway, the four new BB models feature the distinctive Bettinardi branding in electric yellow, with the same colour used in the deep-etched Lamkin corded grip.

The new Super-Fly Mill Face milling (above) features on all BB models offers a responsive feel at impact made for players looking consistent speed and feel.

Our review of the 2016/2017 Bettinardi BB Series Putters

Models include the classic hell-toe weighted BB1 (below left) and more offset BB29 (below right) blades, a new half-moon mallet BB39 and full mallet BB56, offering the most stability on off-centre strikes.

All BB Series putters come in 33”- 35” length options and have an RRP of £279.

Following on from the successful 3.0 model, the new iNOVAi 5.0 uses a 303 Stainless Steel piece in the rear of the putter, connected to the 6061 Military Grade Aluminium to create a full circle offering more resistance to twisting and turning.

Featuring the patented F.I.T (Feel Impact Technology) Face that eliminates the need for an insert thanks to the Bettinardi milling process, the high MOI mallet features a soft feel at impact with a topline alignment aid and two lines on the brushed Stainless Steel.

The iNOVAi 5.0 is available right-handed in standard and centre-shafted options with a black and red deep-etched Lamkin grip corded grip in standard or jumbo size and and RRP of £279.

Continuing into 2018 are the Studio Stock Series and Queen B models, the former being used by Matt Kuchar and made from Soft Carbon Steel feature a Mercury Grey finish providing a confidence-inspiring look at address. All three models incorporate the brand’s F.I.T Face milling.

The Queen B Series features the exclusive Bettinardi Micro Honeycomb Face milling, allowing for a muted, yet crisp feel at impact for players looking for constant speed and feel.

2017 Bettinardi putters revealed - Premium putter brand unveils 15 new models said to offer a better roll and even softer feel off the face

Bettinardi Golf, the specialist milled putter manufacturer based in Chicago, has released its 2017 range in the UK, including new putters in its Studio Stock and Queen B series.

Consisting of 15 premium models across its four ranges - which also includes the classic BB Series and the iNOVAi mallet - each putter is hand-crafted from one piece of milled carbon steel using hi-tech CNC milling technology at the brand’s state-of-the-art factory.

Studio Stock Series The new models in the Studio Stock series feature a Mercury Grey finish for a confidence-inspiring look at address and incorporate F.I.T (Feel Impact Technology) Face milling, where material is removed from the face in order to produce a softer feel at impact.

The compact SS3 mallet features a single bend shaft that frames the ball squarely at address and is available in standard length (33”-35”) and counterbalance with lengths ranging from 36”-40” . Two blade options are also available with the SS8 being created from the popular JAM head style featuring a high-toe topline and squared off edges.

Completing the SS Series is the popular SS28 model featuring a wider head and a slight toe-hang, adding extra assurance that the putter will stay square through impact.

The Arm Lock model (40”-42” with 5° loft) is available along with a standard length option ranging from 33” to 35” with 3° loft that is also available with a centre shaft.

Queen B Series Combining performance with striking looks, the Queen B Series features the brands Micro-Honeycomb face, a miniature version of the patented larger version found on the BB Series. This allows for a muted, yet crisp feel at impact for players looking for consistent speed and feel.

The Queen B 8 is an entirely new design based on feedback from Tour players. The compact, mid-size mix of blade and mallet features weighting around the edge and a quarter-toe hang, favouring golfers with a slight arcing stroke.

Specifically designed for the player with a more broadly arcing stroke, the Queen B 9 half-mallet features a gentle curvature towards the toe and crescent milled neck for a compact and curved appearance.

Both putters are available with a standard or jumbo deep-etched Lamkin grip with new cord lining at a recommended retail price of £309.

To coincide with the start of the 2017 PGA Tour season in Hawaii, Bettinardi Golf has created an exclusive limited edition of BB Series putters with a distinctive Hawaiian design that are now available to golfers in the UK.

The new BB1 Tiki putter has been specially milled and crafted from one piece of high-quality mild carbon steel with a Smoked Bronze finish by skilled engineers and technicians at the brand’s state-of-the-art factory in Chicago.

Paying tribute to the Tournament of Champions and Sony Open – the traditional opening events of the PGA Tour on the Pacific island - intricate waves have been added with an engraved Tiki Totem on the sole of the head. There is also a Polynesian-inspired decorative F.I.T. (Feel Impact Technology) Face, which eliminates inserts to produce a softer feel at impact.

“We always set out to create customised putters that look fantastic, but also incorporate the advanced technology featured in our 2017 range,” said brand founder Bob Bettinardi. “It’s our second Tiki-themed putter, but this one is very different to the last with a more detailed design thanks to the brilliant designers we have at our state-of-the-art factory,” he added.
