It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Adizero moniker in golf. Adizero's name is more famous for the brand’s groundbreaking lightweight running shoes, which were first introduced in 2004. We saw the Adizero for the first time in golf in 2013 - and it was an inauspicious and brief run at the time. Indeed, the spike system was deemed so aggressive that it was banned by some courses for making too many indentations on putting surfaces. With that particular episode very much in its history, the story for Adizero and golf in 2025 is sleek, lightweight and performance-built. This is a spikeless golf shoe that looks to give everything a spiked shoe can - I was excited to take them out on the course for a spin.

We'll start with looks, as this is where every experience with a golf shoe begins. It's a very similar silhouette to the Adidas ZG23 golf shoe launched at the start of 2023, which is a lightweight spiked golf shoe. As was the case with ZG23, the looks of Adizero ZG are not my favourite on the market right now. This is mostly because, to me, the Tour360 24 shoes are so good-looking that any other of the best Adidas golf shoes simply don't tickle my fancy quite like they do. So, I’ll leave you to make your mind up on the silhouette and, for what it's worth, the red colourway looks sharper in my opinion next to the white/silver I was testing.

Where this shoe ultimately shines, and where we should all be making the important decision before investing, is in its performance. The new outsole is superb and matches the grip and security you get from a conventional spiked shoe almost identically. I’ll never say a spikeless shoe can offer more grip than a spiked shoe as spiked shoes ultimately still prevail, but this isn’t far off. The aggressive lugs on the perimeter of the outsole do most of the heavy lifting in terms of lateral grip and I am confident these will provide ample grip in all possible conditions. It only takes one slip on a tee box to lose confidence in your shoes and the Adizero ZG does one of the best jobs of any spikeless shoe I've tried at instilling this confidence in all conditions.

The lightweight build is another feather in the shoe’s cap. Wearing just a lightweight yet powerful shoe on your foot certainly helps when walking 18 holes. Lightweight though they are, they still feel solid and premium. The materials are soft to the touch and the moulded heel cushion inspired by the running shoe category provides targeted padding to a key area of comfort. The support is superb too. It locks your foot in place in the right areas (specifically very comfortably around the heel) yet allows the foot to move through the swing as it is naturally supposed to do in the forefoot area. I barely noticed them while I was playing, such was the confidence they inspired in my performance.

The likes of Ludvig Aberg and Collin Morikawa have already put these into play on the Tour. Yes, they're Adidas athletes so they're being paid for the privilege of wearing the shoes, but they could've chosen the Codechaos 25 or Tour360 24 and have instead traded in their ZG23s for the new Adizeros. This is yet another strong offering from a brand making significant waves in performance footwear and apparel in golf. A fast, sleek and lightweight golf shoe that hits all the right notes in terms of comfort and performance, those after a lightweight, all-year-round performance shoe will be well served by the Adizero ZG.

As someone who has played golf to a professional level, and now writes about golf equipment, I get asked all the time about what are the best golf gifts. The truth is it completely depends on each individual and how much you are willing to spend.

Five years ago adidas introduced its Codechaos spikeless golf shoe franchise, which is designed to offer athletic performance in a sporty and non-traditional style. Codechaos 25 is the latest chapter, and while I haven’t tested previous generations, I was keen to see if this model is one of the best women’s golf shoes.

This is definitely not your average looking women’s golf shoe, and I understand why adidas describes this franchise as being disruptive. There’s a lot going on, which won’t suit everyone, but I really like how the colors including white, black and lucid lemon have been brought together, as well as adidas’s trademark three stripes in bright pink on the sole.

The upper is quite mesmerising because it’s made in a multi-layer knit with the top layer being mesh and highlighting a zig-zag type pattern underneath, plus there are three black and white stripes either side in a different pattern.

Aside from the upper, you can see this shoe is packed with technology. This model has a redesigned outsole with a new 3D TORSION plate to not only help with stability, but also a better overall fit to avoid midfoot bend to stop your heel slipping.

To be honest, before playing 18 holes in these shoes, I wore them straight out of the box walking around the Old Course, St Andrews during the AIG Women’s Open. I couldn’t fault their comfort and I received plenty of compliments due to the eye-catching design. I was most surprised at how my feet stayed dry in wet and windy conditions and how the shoe did not pick up too much dirt - what it did collect, I found it easy to clean.

But how did they perform on the golf course? They are lightweight, like Ecco’s LT1 and FootJoy’s Pro/SLX, and the different layers of the upper definitely do their job, providing comfort and flexibility. I felt stable over my shots, there was no rubbing and feet felt fresh at the end of the round.

The outsole is really sturdy, and although it’s the same TWISTGRIP found on previous generations, this one has been updated with a new lug shape for extra traction. While I cannot compare this shoe with previous models, what I can say is that my feet felt very solid on the ground without any slippage and locked in, similar to how I felt wearing the adidas spiked Tour360 24 shoe.

My advice is to go up half a size in adidas golf shoes if you’re usually a standard fit. I would describe this spikeless shoe as exciting, it stands out from the crowd, performs exceptionally well, and is one of the most comfortable golf shoes for women.

One of the absolute winter golf bag essentials is a good quality waterproof jacket and, with the adidas Rain.RDY, it is a fantastic example of what is available on the market right now.

For starters, it is made from 100% recycled materials. That’s right, 100%! By reusing materials that have already been created, it shows adidas’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing in a more environmentally friendly manner which, as you can agree, is to be applauded.

The fantastic thing is that, even when you look closely at the material, you wouldn’t know it, as the fabric looks and feels top quality.

What's more, there’s a long main front zipper and zip-up side pockets, which are all seam-sealed to prevent any water leaking in whilst being big enough to store all of your tees and even a scorecard if wanted.

Style-wise, it is best described as athletic and sporty. The body is fitted and there are hidden purple toggle cords inside the jacket so that you can tighten or loosen it according to preference which, in-turn allows you to easily swing freely.

The wrist cuffs are also elasticated and tight enough to stay in place whilst you swing, this means that the jacket doesn’t slip down and interfere with your grip. This is something we regularly see amongst the best golf waterproofs.

Arguably, the main stand out came in the high back which I loved! Not only did it protect your neck from rainwater, but the big hood is my absolute favorite feature on this garment. It’s great to be able to pop this up over your head on a very wet day, with it being high enough in height, and generous in size, to allow space for a bobble hat underneath.

Finally, the bold three stripes that adorn the shoulders and arms of the jacket are striking and sporty, but they won’t be to everyone’s taste. For me, though, in the soft purple they look really great against the black.

My only criticism, if I was going to pick on something, is that the very lightweight material, while definitely keeping me perfectly dry, didn’t really keep me super warm. It’s ok with two or three layers underneath and you certainly won’t overheat or sweat in this jacket, but there are definitely others I’ve worn that are made from thicker, warmer materials than this. You may want to bear this in mind if you feel the cold.

adidas has partnered with the label JAY3LLE, created by father-daughter duo Blue and Johan Lindeberg to create a capsule of apparel, footwear and accessories that features bold and powerful styles to energize women’s golf fashion.

The aim of the capsule is to introduce visually striking sport apparel silhouettes for women through the lens of both streetwear and high fashion. The capsule also includes a fashion-forward high-top performance golf shoe to finish off the look, which can be styled in a variety of ways. 

adidas athlete and LPGA Tour professional Linn Grant will showcase select pieces from the adidas x JAY3LLE capsule at this week's AIG Women’s Open in St Andrews.

“I’ve always taken a personal interest in fashion outside of the course, so this capsule is one I’m really excited about,” said Grant. “I was able to work with both Johan and the adidas team to provide feedback on the pieces to help bring this collection to life, so I know these silhouettes will inspire a lot of women to get out of their comfort zone and wear something that will provide them with energy and positivity whenever they play.”

Inspired by the intersection of sport and fashion taking place in golf today, adidas x JAY3LLE represents a collection of some the best women's golf clothes that are modern and functional, featuring a dynamic and vibrant color palette including a blend of purples, reds, and pinks contrasted against deep blacks and pure whites. 

Signature pieces in the line include a bomber jacket, a pleated skort and a CODECHAOS JAY3LLE spikeless shoe. Adidas has had itself a busy year. After launching the hero Tour360 24 shoe in February, we've seen new colorways drop for the Samba golf shoe and the classic MC80. This fall, it's readying itself to release the third generation of its impressive spikeless franchise, replacing the Codechaos 22 which launched two years ago. I've been a regular wearer of this particular shoe since launch, so was very excited to see what upgrades had been made for this latest iteration. 

One of the most noticeable differences on the new Codechaos is the outsole. On the 2022 version, the outsole actually bled onto the sides of the shoe, providing a eye-catching look as well as the benefit of extra grip on the instep of the shoe. That's gone in the 2025 version, with the silhouette returning to what we might consider a more conventional looking shoe. I really liked the funky outsole design on the 2022 version and am sad to see it gone - it really stood out in amongst a mass of very similar looking golf shoes. 

Not only has the presence of the outsole changed, but the lugs that make it up have been altered too. The lugs have been placed over a greater surface area than on the previous iteration of the shoe, and you can really feel it at work on the golf course. I'd only class a handful of spikeless shoes as 'all year round' shoes and the Codechaos 25 certainly fits that bracket. The outsole is superb in all ground conditions, and really gives you the sort of confidence you often only get wearing a spiked golf shoe. Only the Under Armour Drive Pro SL and FootJoy Pro/SLX can compete with the all year round wearability of the Codechaos 25 outsole. Adidas are certainly shouting about its redesigned outsole too. I really like the neon green and pink accents that cover the outsole - I think it adds a touch of flare and pizzazz that we've come to expect from a shoe with the word chaos literally in the name. 

Adding to the versatility in all conditions, the upper - which is comprised of a multi layer knit material - is fully waterproof and cleans really easily. This is thanks to the transparent PU film that covers the upper, which also offers a window into the unique patterns that covers the top of the knit. Regardless of which of the current two colorways you choose - white/green or black/white - I expect these will be able to kept looking fresh regardless of which conditions you most regularly play in. That being said - unlike many other of the best Adidas golf shoes - the Codechaos isn't a particularly great off course shoe thanks in part to the comprehensive outsole and athletic silhouette that just doesn't blend in with any off course attire. Then again, this shoe was never designed with off course functionality in mind. 

The feeling underfoot through the insole and midsole is certainly firmer than that of other spikeless shoes I've tested this year. The likes of the FootJoy Quantum and Ecco LT1 both have much more immediate softness under foot if this is what you prefer. That being said, the Codechaos franchise continues to be a remarkably comfortable golf shoe despite the relative lack of softness underfoot. Much like the shoe it is replacing, the support it provides laterally as well as the Boost cushioning is still comfortable. 

There is still plenty of rebound present underfoot too, which I imagine is why they are so pleasant to wear across 18 holes. There is a 'hybrid' midsole in Codechaos 25, consisting of both Boost and Lightstrike technologies we've come to be familiar with in other Adidas golf shoes. While Boost does a lot for the energy return you can feel through the foot, Lightstrike has been added to help with stability. You can really feel that at play and, unlike some of the softer under foot spikeless shoes I've tested, your foot doesn't roll around in this shoe. 

Sizing comes up slightly awkward on Adidas golf shoes, and the Codechaos is no different. In the old model, I was a size 8.5UK, but the same size in the new model is slightly too large for me. With that in mind, I'd say the Codechaos 25 is a true-to-size shoe, so go with whatever size you most commonly go for. 

All in all this is a solid upgrade job done by Adidas. The redesigned lugs on the outsole have made what was already a comprehensive outsole even more convincing. The comfort is still there from the old model, and I'd stay the stability has also been turned up a notch. At £140 ($169), there is great value for money here considering how often you'll be able to wear it.  For £150 ($179), a BOA option is also available. Adidas worked closely with BOA to integrate its lacing system into this silhouette and, having only seen images of it thus far, it looks superb and no doubt will give golfers that added locked in feeling alongside the easily adjustable lacing system. For those who want to invest in one shoe to take them through all conditions all year round, the new Codechaos is a real contender. 

Both laced and BOA versions are available now in the UK. The BOA option is available now in the USA, with the laced version arriving on November 1st. 

When it comes to the best golf shoes and best golf clothing, chances are adidas will be near the top of that list, with the German manufacturer worn in multiple sports and by some of the biggest stars.

Currently, one of the most recognized sports events in the world is taking place in Paris, as the Olympics get underway. On the 1st - 4th August, the men will be playing at Le Golf National, with the women teeing off on the 7th - 11th in what should be an excellent few tournaments.

Already, we have seen J.Lindeberg's clothing for the USA team, with adidas producing an array of different apparel for Team GB, which is now available to buy on various websites!

We've always been huge fans of adidas golf shirts and, with the Team GB edition ones, it's a similar story, as both polo shirts feature the adidas logo on the right side of the chest, whilst the Team GB and Olympic rings adorn the left hand side.

Made with at least 70% recycled materials, these are some of the most environmentally-friendly shirts that money can buy, whilst the single jersey fabric construction is extremely stretchy, meaning that your freedom of movement won't be restricted when out on the golf course.

Like the best golf shirts, we notice some classy little touches that enhance the Team GB Polo. These include a Union Jack on the left arm, whilst there is also a very smart Team GB artwork piece below the back collar, which almost resembles a crest.

It's not just clothing that has been given an Olympic makeover, as one of our favorite golf shoes has also been given a redesign ahead of the Olympics, with the model in question the adidas Tour360 24 Golf Shoe.

In testing, it received five stars out of five, with the main standouts being the soft, premium leather upper, the exceptional grip in all conditions, as well as the support and comfort from a completely redesigned golf shoe. Put simply, it's not just one of the best adidas golf shoes but, arguably, one of the best spiked golf shoes!

Along with the on-course clothing, there are also a couple of off-course options, such as the Adicross Paris Tee and Paris Bucket Hat. Both items feature a Paris themed left chest logo, which depicts the Eiffel Towel as a golf tee, something which is very minimalist and smart.

Announced alongside ambassador Gareth Bale yesterday, Adidas has revealed its Codechaos 25 spikeless golf shoe, available from August 1st. The updated shoe features a 3D Torsion Plate in the outsole, updated TwistGrip outsole and an upper comprised of a durable, multi-layer knit. It'll also be available in a new BOA model with PerformFit Wrap, a new technology aiming to provide a more customized fit for all golfers. 

This is the third generation of Codechaos, a shoe that was first introduced in 2019 with the aim of redefining the meaning and mentality behind a spikeless shoe. Coming off the back of the lauded Tour360 24 launched in February this year, the brand is hoping to form similar dominance as one of the best spikeless shoes on the market too. 

As was the case with Codechaos 22, it's likely the colors and silhouette will catch your attention first, but the performance upgrades on Codechaos 25 are what will set the new model apart from the swathe of other spikeless shoes on the market. The redesigned 3D Torsion Plate on the outsole aims to provide a blend of high level stability through the swing and while walking. The Adidas team also found the 3D Torsion plate provided a better overall fit and helped minimize midfoot bend, which ultimately can cause internal heel slip. 

You'll likely also recognize the TwistGrip outsole, but this has been updated too with a new lug shape placed over a greater surface area. It's added up to a 40% increase in traction-providing elements compared to previous iterations of the shoe. Visually, the outsole no longer bleeds onto the upper of the shoe as we saw in Codechaos 22 and more recently in the G/FORE G/18. 

“Nearly 5 years ago, we made the bold move to introduce Codechaos when traditional spikeless models were saturating the market,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf. “The impact this footwear had then and continues to have now is another proof point for us that golfers are continuing to look for spikeless performance in athletic and non-traditional silhouettes. Codechaos 25 represents a milestone for us on how we’ve made this shoe better over the past 5 years, especially during a time where golf has seen such tremendous growth and participation.”

To further enhance the appeal of the shoe, the team worked closely with the engineers at BOA to incorporate PerformFit Wrap as part of the CodeChaos 25 BOA model. Covered by a zipper shroud, the PerformFit Wrap offers golfers another component aimed to provide a locked-in feel with additional stability. 

The upper for Codechaos 25 is comprised of a durable, multi-layer knit with the goal of providing golfers with additional flexibility. The bottom layer closest to the foot features a soft, moisture-wicking material, which helps to increase comfort over the course of the round. The middle layer, a jacquard, is an open structure aimed to provide flexibility and help golfers adapt to the lie, while the outer layer is a sporty mesh to enhance the layers beneath. 

Codechaos 25 and Codechaos 25 BOA will be available worldwide in both men's and women's styles from August 1st. The laced version will be available in the US beginning November 1st.

Sky Sports Golf has agreed a new long-term deal for adidas to become the broadcaster's official apparel supplier.

All of Sky Sports' staff at the 152nd Open will be kitted out with adidas apparel, shoes, and accessories as the partnership begins its aim to "ensure every moment on and off the course is as engaging, entertaining and more accessible than ever before" while trying to attract more fans and players to the sport.

The largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe already supports the Ladies European Tour and the AIG Women's Open, and Sky Sports' own involvement with both will allow the pair to further promote the women's game.

adidas also said it wants the partnership with Sky Sports Golf to encourage more young people to take up the game and inspire a new generation of golfers by "championing change and progress within the golf community."

Discussing the long-term deal, Director of Golf for Sky Sports, Jason Wessley, said: “It’s fantastic to collaborate with adidas, a brand leading the way in golf innovation and partnerships in recent years.

"We have a great opportunity to connect and relate to a younger audience, and all of us at Sky Sports Golf look forward to building our partnership with adidas over the coming years.”

Sky Sports Golf will show all four days of the 152nd Open at Royal Troon, with coverage starting at 6:30am BST on Thursday and Friday before ending at 9:00pm BST.

Saturday's coverage begins at 9am BST and lasts until after the final putt is holed, while it is a similar story on Sunday with live programming starting at 8am BST.

When it comes to golf manufacturers, users are truly spoilt for choice, with numerous brands available at different price points.

Now, it's no secret that golf can be expensive but, this Amazon Prime Day, there are lots of deals about, with some already out before the event officially kicks off on the 16th and 17th July.

We never say no to a good deal on golf equipment and, right now, you can purchase some of the best drivers, best golf balls and even best golf bags with discounts. Below, we have taken a look through some of the most impressive deals we have seen!

Such is the performance of Mizuno fairway woods that they rank amongst the best fairway woods money can buy. However, it's rare that you find deals on them... until now, as the ST-Z 230 is now $130 off! Having tested it, we know that its main standouts, in terms of performance, are classic looks, forgiveness of the face and the customization options via the adjustable hosel.

Like the ST-Z 230 Fairway Wood, we have also tested the 3D Printed Grandsport Putter from Cobra which, for a blade design, is extremely forgiving on heel and toe strikes. It does have an oversized head so, at address, it should inspire confidence, whilst the Descending Loft Technology face helped our tester get the ball rolling smoothly and consistently.

In testing, we found them near faultless, as the soft, premium leather, incredible grip and support secured it five stars out five. It's the first time we've seen this shoe reduced and, what's more, the older adidas Tour360 22 Golf shoe is also on sale this Prime Day.

Bushnell are known for producing some of the best golf rangefinders on the market, with the V6 now reduced by $50. Having tested the Shift version, we know that this model excels in a number of areas, as the exceptional optics and accuracy make this a real premium product.

Speaking of premium, the Nitron Push Cart from Bag Boy is also reduced, with a 20% discount bringing it down to one of the lowest prices we have ever seen. It's rated as one of the best golf push carts money can buy, due to the fact it folds down easily and compactly, whilst also providing ample storage and great ride quality.

You'll struggle to find two better products for under $250 but, because they're on sale already, it's best to get them sooner rather than later, especially with how popular these models are.

The final products we have seen are the Rapsodo Mobile Launch Monitor and Zip Golf Balls from Wilson, which are now reduced by sizeable amounts this Prime Day.

Beginning with the Rapsodo, which is a really good option in the portable launch monitor category, especially at this price point for under $300. Not only did we find it easy to set up, but the reliable shot detection and playback options were really handy and, when compared to the best golf launch monitors that come in at the higher end, price-wise, the Rapsodo really held its own.

Finally, there are loads of golf ball deals available this Prime Day, with one of the best ones we've seen coming in the shape of the Wilson Zips, which are now just over $1 a ball. Wilson make some of the best budget golf balls and, with this model, you are sure to get some great value!

adidas is one of the most visible golf clothing brands in golf with some high-profile tour representation in Collin Morikawa, Tyrrell Hatton, and Ludivg Aberg. I was lucky enough to be sent a number of items from adidas, including the Ultimate365 Tour Heat.RDY Polo Shirt. No thanks to the British winter, I have managed to get a good few wears out of it now, so here are my thoughts.

My favorite feature of this extremely comfortable polo is the HEAT.DRY technology which maximizes airflow and does a great job of keeping you cool when the temperature rises.  The regular fit is still tailored enough to be flattering, without being clingy, which is perfect for a self-conscious 40-year-old father of two who has skipped one too many gym sessions recently! It’s incredible to think that the adidas Tour 360 franchise is approaching its 20th anniversary, which is a real testament to the longevity and popularity of this fantastic adidas golf shoe. 

In all honesty, I have not previously reviewed an adidas Tour360 golf shoe, so this was my chance to find out if this latest version, which has been completely redesigned, would live up to my expectations as one of the best women’s golf shoes on the market.

The Tour 360 24 is available in two colorways for women - cloud white/silver metallic or white/core black/green spark. I tested the latter and what immediately stands out on either side of the shoe is the adidas trademark of three black stripes. This does not just add to the overall styling, it’s a performance benefit too, but more on that later.

It’s not sporty looking like Duca del Cosma’s Alesi, or Puma’s Fusion Crush Sport, but I like the modern, cutting-edge design. As soon as you see the Tour 360 24, the combined design elements make you feel pretty confident that it’s going to perform very well, similar to the look and feel of FootJoy’s Pro/SLX.

This shoe offers superb comfort, although I was advised to go up a size to what I usually wear and that was good advice. It’s really nicely cushioned, a combination of adidas’ technologies Lightstrike, that’s used in the forefoot and Jet Boost in the heel. To me, the footbed felt soft and spongy, so exactly what you want when playing golf and I would certainly describe these as one of the most comfortable golf shoes for women.

One of the unique design features is what adidas calls a Torsion Bridge, and in this case it’s the green spark color that sits across the mid-foot and forefoot. This bridge helps to improve stability, along with the black stripes I mentioned earlier, which are actually a 360Wrap support.

I must admit, over 18 holes I felt completely locked in and especially on slightly slippery surfaces, knowing that I was fully supported and stable, this shoe gave me the confidence to still exert the same level of power into my shots, without feeling at all tentative.

The outsole has a glossy finish and it does a great job of gripping the turf even in wet conditions, making these one of the best waterproof golf shoes for women. This traction is thanks to the flex grooves that work in tandem with the seven spikes including one at the toe, which is designed in this way for better toe-off performance through the swing.

There are few brands quite like adidas when it comes to breadth and depth in its best golf shoe offering. From the new Tour-level Tour360 24 and ZG23, to its ultra-casual Ultraboost golf shoe and bold Codechaos 22 shoe, there really is a golf shoe for every style and performance preference on the golf course. For 2024, the brand has introduced another shoe into its crossover category, aiming to offer golfers a shoe that can be worn from dawn until dusk, on and off the golf course.

The new S2G SL (there is also a spiked version available) is based off a running shoe design, which is what gives it its modern, sporty silhouette. The shoe is designed to be worn as much off the golf course as it is on it with the lightweight, responsive feel of a running shoe coupled with some key elements that make it adept on the golf course too. 

The version I tested uses a mixture of synthetic materials and a leather upper to create what is a very premium looking and feeling shoe. It's a much wider fit that adidas' other golf shoes so they fit very true to size, unlike other adidas shoes where I need to go half a size up. This makes for a very comfortable fit and certainly a more relaxed one that some of the other best spikeless golf shoes I've tested this year. Despite this relaxed fit, the shoe still does a solid job at supporting the foot throught the swing. This mixture of materials won't make it the most breathable spikeless shoe on the market, but that has to be one of the considerations when considering the £90 RRP. It uses adidas' Lightstrike technology through the midsole, a technology borrowed from its running division and one that has been executed brilliantly in the recent Tour360 24 and ZG23 golf shoes. It once again works very well in the S2G SL, offering plenty of cushioning and energy return that make it very pleasant both to walk in while offering a good sensation as you swing the club. 

Style wise I think this hits all the right notes. It certainly borrows heavily from the styles we see in modern running shoes as well as motifs from modern sneakers too, with the angular rear section in particular very on trend right now. It sits right on the line of looking both like a modern golf shoe and a modern sneaker, meaning it'll look as good with a pair of trousers on the golf course as it will with a pair of jeans at the pub. adidas has done a great job of styling this shoe to really blend in, but still look good, in multiple scenarios you might want to wear it. With the first major of the season coming around very soon, I also particularly enjoyed this shade of green on this colorway. There's plenty of other options too, with an all-black, all white and white/navy color options also available. 

The outsole is solid if unspectacular. Being a shoe designed to work on hard surfaces as much as grass, the nubs that make up the spikeless outsole certainly don't offer the same ground penetration or lateral support as the outsoles on the likes of the Under Armour Drive Pro SL or FootJoy Pro/SLX Carbon. These are the kinds of tradeoffs you have to expect when deciding whether to go for an out-and-out performance shoe like the two aforementioned shoes, or something that offers a little more versatility like the S2G SL. That being said, this has been a solid performer in wet conditions. I wouldn't be wearing this is the wettest, muddiest conditions of deep winter, but these shoes do offer good grip in damp conditions. The version we tested benefits from a fully waterproof leather upper, which adds some peace of mind and a premium touch to the materials. The shoe isn't all leather, just on the upper piece, and there is also a non-leather version available for around £5 less. 

Such is the versatility of this shoe to be worn on and off the golf course, the £90 RRP feels like incredible value for money considering how much you'll be able to wear it. Couple that with the build quality and attention to detail and this has to be one of the best value new golf shoes that has been released in the last couple of years. Speaking with the team at adidas who designed this shoe and brought it to life, they've clearly thought carefully and considerately about how it's going to be used. For a shoe with this price tag, it's rare to see so much thought and execution go into it - adidas has once again nailed the brief with the release of the S2G SL. 

Adidas Tour360 22 vs Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 Golf Shoe: Read our head to head verdict

One of the most important things any golfer needs is a reliable pair of golf shoes. After all, shoes are one of the only pieces of equipment you use for every shot during a round - so it's vital you get the right pair. Two brands that produce the best golf shoes on the market are adidas and Nike, with the company's premium models ranking as some of the most comfortable golf shoes that money can buy, as well as being some of the most breathable golf shoes too.

For 2022, adidas released the adidas Tour360 22 shoe. Having introduced the world to the Tour360 range almost 20 years ago, the German brand has gone back to its original designs, analysing what made them work and implementing those ideas into the new model. Has it worked? Well, five stars out of five in our review certainly answers that!

Nike on the other hand is the most recognised shoe brand in the world and unsurprisingly they are also a leading player when it comes to golf shoes, producing some of the best spiked golf shoes that money can buy, whilst the spikeless designs aren't bad either. For this comparison piece, we are specifically looking at the Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 which is the shoe choice of Rory McIlroy also has a five star rating.

Although both received top marks in our review, what are the significant differences between the two and which one is better suited to your game? Here, we take a look. 

Looks

Both models are stunning looking shoes and offer a range of colorways that will match any outfit out on the course. In our reviews, we ranked both as some of the most stylish and modern looking shoes on the market.

Starting with the Tour360s, the 2022 model has a few design touches that make them look slightly different to past models. We were big fans of the older Tour360s because of the classic look and three-stripe design. However, with the new model, adidas has found a way of incorporating some modern flourishes that really stand out. 

We tested the white, blue and orange model and were very impressed with the small splashes of color that give a totally unique style. Importantly though, adidas has not gone too far with the design, which features in five colorways. As well as the colors, there are multiple different models with even more adaptability available, making these some of the best adidas golf shoes on the market.

It's a similar story with the Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 as the shoe is stunning from an aesthetics standpoint and that is one of the reasons this shoe tops our list of the best Nike golf shoes.

The new Full-grain leather upper has a supple feel and sophisticated look. The swoosh and midsole sections look slightly different and better than the previous model in my opinion, and overall I think the shoe looks more refined. 

It looks like more of a traditionally sporty golf shoe that will suit a wide range of ages, whereas the previous model was perhaps better suited to younger audiences. I also loved the color I got sent, the fade of the shoe from blue to green really looks excellent and I did get a number of compliments on them. There are also several other colors to choose from, and there are special edition designs too for events like The Masters. 

Fit/Comfort

Having looked at the shoe from the outside, we now move to the inside, with both pairs providing unbelievable fit and comfort. Arguably, comfort is the most important factor when it comes to a golf shoe and no-one wants their feet to ache after, or even during, a round of golf. 

Both have innovative technology that is designed to give you the most comfort during your game, with adidas featuring an array of elements like 'Feet You Wear Last', which was first introduced in 1996. The idea is that it mimics the natural shape of the foot and accommodates movement in all directions, even throughout the golf swing. 

Along with the 'Feet You Wear Last,' it also has a 'Dualstack Midsole' which, although you can't see it, helps support your forefoot and the arch of the foot. Finally, there is a 'Geofit Collar Pad' in the top of the shoe, as well as an 'Insite Sockliner' to the rear. Both are specifically designed to conform to your foot, giving you a more personalized and comfortable fit which we really noticed during testing.

I can honestly say the Victory Tour 3 are one of the most comfortable shoes I have tested. The previous 2 was right up there in this regard but for me the 3 has taken it to a whole new level. This is thanks to elements like the extra thickness of the padding around the ankle which really felt soft and comfortable. As someone who can be prone to blisters in this area, I loved this design feature. 

Additionally Nike has added an internal strap on the inside of the shoe which actually contours to your feet, which is different from the mesh-like interior of the Tour 2 shoe. I think this change further elevates the 3 and while some golf shoes need wearing-in before they reach their peak comfort, we found this was not the case here. Nike also stitched a Zoom Air unit directly to the upper which delivered exceptional feel, and the foam towards the heel felt very cushiony, almost bouncy when walking on the course. 

Performance

So, after top marks in the looks and comfort department, how did the shoes perform out on the course? The answer, very well! Both provided ample grip and remained in pristine condition, making them very durable. Both rank amongst the best spiked golf shoes on the market. This is thanks to them having smartly designed cleat patterns on the sole that maximise grip in even the wettest conditions.

The grip and stability of the Nike shoes was top-notch. The shoes have a new seven-way cleat system with two different types of spikes. The new Softspikes Tour Flex Pro are fitted in three forefoot areas whilst there are Silver tornado spikes in the heel and other side of the forefoot area. 

The result of this? Well I tested the shoes in different conditions and the traction remained very good. During one round I played on brown, burnt-out ground which can be slippery, softer ground thanks to a deluge of rain, and, because I was not playing my best, in a variety of different lies and stances. Each time, my grip and stability was never compromised. 

Overall, we can see why these are Rory McIlroy’s preferred golf shoes. Nike has taken what was an excellent golf shoe in the Victory 2, and improved on it. The comfort here is outstanding as is the feel, the grip and stability is right up there and the look of the shoe is one of the best on the market.

With the Tour360s, we tried the shoes out in dry, damp and wet conditions and overall there was a good amount of grip. The grip comes from cleats that are directly injected into the base of the shoe which means you won't ever have to worry about losing them. This is an extremely clever design touch and, combined with a variety of spikes and traction elements, it really gripped us into the ground. 

Waterproofing

The last section surrounds whether the shoes are waterproof or not. Certainly it's a factor that is very important. How many times have you been playing in what you thought were waterproof shoes to find out your socks are soaked through?

Although the adidas Tour360 does not rank on our best waterproof golf shoes list, they are certainly very good performers, demonstrating waterproof qualities whilst out on the golf course.

Adidas has provided a premium rich leather in their Tour360, which is 100 percent waterproof, plus you get a one-year waterproof warranty as well which provides peace of mind. What's more, the company has also incorporated recycled materials into the design to continue the brand's goal of ending plastic waste. 

The Nike shoe is also 100% waterproof and features highly on our list of the best waterproof golf shoes. It also comes with a one year waterproof guarantee.

Adidas Go-To Five Pocket Pants Review

I am going to start by saying these might just be my new favorite golf pants. They are a smart and comfortable option for golfers to wear not only on the golf course, but also off it too because they are so versatile. There are five colors to choose from (black, grey, collegiate navy, olive strata and my personal favorite bliss), and lots of sizes for everyone. I additionally like the little details, such as the roomy pockets and the adidas logo stitched above the right back pocket. 

But overall the star of the show here is the comfort. Made from a blend of cotton, lyocell, and elastane twill, the pants are flexible and stretch very easily so I could get into any stance, and play any shot without having to worry about them. The waistband gave a degree of stretch too which aided comfort and I loved the tapered leg design. Some will want to go for a looser-fitting style but I thought they were perfect for me and it is worth saying that I tested these underneath some rain pants too and the worked very well indeed.

They also felt lightweight and despite this tapered design, I didn’t feel like the pants were hugging my skin at all so I had a degree of breathability which makes these ideal for summer golf especially. When they were brushing against my skin though, the cotton fabric felt very soft and comfortable although it is worth mentioning that the fabric is not hugely crease resistant unlike other pants.

From a price perspective, these come in at $100, or around £70, which I think is a reasonable price for a pair of golf pants but the value here is greater because as I have mentioned above, these are pants that can be used anywhere. The final point I wanted to mention was that they were very easy to wash. Golf gear can occasionally be a little tricky to get right in the washing machine but a cold cycle with similar colors was all that was needed here. As such I have literally been using these all the time on and off the course.

adidas Rain.Rdy Hooded Jacket Review

It was around this time last year that I got to test the adidas Rain.Rdy Jacket and as my review showed, it came oh so very close to a five star rating (the height of the collar was the slightest complaint from me). In that review I said it was one of the best golf rain jackets anywhere and concluded thus; ‘The protection from the wind and rain is fantastic, and we also love the comfort, stretch, durability and the overall look of the jacket. It can also be used off the golf course which is a big plus.’ 

Well I can also say that nearly all of that can be applied to the latest jacket from adidas, the Rain.Rdy Hooded model. Starting with the looks, I love the aesthetic of this jacket because whilst it looks relatively simple, there are a few design flourishes that elevate it. For example the two color design differentiates it from the standard jacket, and I like the subtle gold zip and three stripes on the back, along with the gold three stripes on the chest too. Ultimately I love golf apparel I can use anywhere, and this is definitely a model that can be. (I do wish there were more colors though!)

From a protection standpoint, it still delivered where I wanted it to - giving protection from wind and rain. Water beaded off nicely and I felt protected despite getting caught in some downpours during testing, and the addition of the hood was a game-changer here. I didn’t think I could properly swing with it up, but I could easily putt and hit shots from around the green. This protection comes despite it feeling a lot lighter and thinner than the standard model. As such this meant on those colder days I definitely needed another layer underneath, but this was also a benefit because it didn’t take up a lot of room in my bag, and added next to no weight. 

I thought the comfort was good too, with little details like the elastic cuffs and front zippered pockets elevating the design. There was just enough stretch as well but I do think the durability of the jacket has been limited a touch because of the thinness of the material.

Overall though, I am extremely happy with this jacket. Once again it comes oh so close to getting a five-star rating and I am very impressed with the performance, especially when you consider it has a price around the $130/£110 mark. Getting a jacket like this that will last a long time and perform everywhere is a very attractive deal.

Best spiked

My top pick on Amazon from a spiked golf shoe perspective is the Drive Pro from Under Armour. I am a huge fan of both this and the spikeless version, with range getting a makeover from its predecessor. For example this design features a new midsole with softer foam along with other supportive materials to really boost the comfort and stability of the shoe.

It's called a Swing Support System, or S3 and, in testing I think it worked excellently, giving a supported and locked-in feel. The nine spikes give top-notch grip as well. Five of the nine are the new Soft Spike Tour Flex Pro, whilst the remaining four are the S3. Renowned bio-mechanist JJ Rivet developed these shoes and the spikes are a vital part of what he was trying to achieve. Rivet wanted them turned precisely 10° clockwise to hit a precise angle of slip that he wanted to resist. As mentioned, in my testing the shoe really delivered here. I was able to keep my foot planted to the ground throughout the swing whilst there was plenty of foot support in the key areas.

One last new addition we liked is the lacing system and the lightweight feel (it weighs just 12oz). I think the only aspect which didn't blow me away was the look of the shoe, chiefly the writing on the side of the shoe, but this is only a minor aesthetic point.

Best outsole

Next up we have the latest version of adidas' Codechaos golf shoe, which is also available on Amazon for a good price. Earning the best outsole accolade, the redesigned outsole features lugs over a greater surface area and as such I could really feel it at work. I would actually go so far to say that the grip and stability means this is one of few spikeless golf shoes that can really be used all year round.

Looks-wise, I am happy to report that the wacky colors we know and love on the previous Codechaos' have remained, with neon green and pink accents used on the outsole providing a touch of flare and pizzazz. That being said there are more muted finishes though, such as the all-white finish which also looks great.

Performance-wise, the shoes are fully waterproof and clean really easily. Along with the protection, I must note that the feeling underfoot through the insole and midsole is certainly firmer than that of other spikeless shoes but, overall, it's still an incredibly comfortable model that performs excellently.

Best support

The Puma Ignite Articulate shoe has been designed to move with your foot but still keep your foot supported in all the right places. Rather than the more traditional tongue this shoe is all one construction on the upper which provides plenty of support across the whole foot, giving you even more comfort. This shoe also has a 'cage' that wraps around the foot shape for even more support, giving you that locked-in feel once you have done up the laces.

Puma has used some lovely subtle and smart styling on these shoes, and the Puma Ignite Foam gives a great level of comfort in the midsole while also offering some energy return.

The combination of looks and performance in these shoes makes them one of our favorite spiked shoes you can get, and also in terms of value for money these are right up there against the bigger competitors.

Best off course

Next I have gone for one of my favorite golf shoes at the moment, the Ecco Street 720. 'Designed to be worn all day and night, it offers big city vibes with a birdie mentality.' I am not sure about the birdie mentality but these are certainly shoes that work just about anywhere. I have used them in a lot of scenarios and can be worn with pretty much anything. I think a key part of this versatility is the design work of Ecco, basically eliminating almost all the branding and keeping the aesthetic very subtle. That’s not to say these are a dull-looking shoe, there are some neat design touches that make for a modern and versatile silhouette.

I would say that these shoes aren't best suited to winter golf given they mark easily and are reasonably difficult to clean. That being said they are very comfortable indeed thanks to the cushioning, and I found them to be breathable and waterproof which is a must for me these days.

Most comfortable

Moving to FootJoy and I have selected the Quantum golf shoes because they are easily available at Amazon and I am a big fan. To start, the overall comfort of the Quantum is incredible and really backs up FootJoy's claims of 'Cloud Like Comfort'. This primarily comes from the Ortholite Impression FitBed, which provides comfort and moulds over time to the shape of your foot for what eventually becomes a 'customized' fit.

I also loved the cushioning underfoot, of which there is plenty, as well as SofFoam technology in and around the heel. In my testing, it provided an unbelievably cushioned ride and I could feel it working as we walked along the terrain and throughout the golf swing.

Admittedly the stability has been slightly compromised but, thanks to the clean, classic and smart looks and incredible cushioning, the Quantum really is a top performer.

Best value

Finally I wanted to include the Puma Fusion Classic golf shoes because once again Amazon stock them in plenty of sizes and colors, and I think they offer outstanding value. Puma clearly went back to basics with this shoe, creating a versatile, simple design that has a subtle Puma logo on the side and the iconic Cat logo on the top of the heel - that's it, and I for one love it, especially in the all-white finish I tested.

Additionally they find a great balance between looks, comfort and performance both on and off the course. The comfort, which is great, comes from Puma's FUSIONFOAM technology which deliver energy return as you walk to enhance the cushioning already present. It can feel slightly firm when compared to other models but this is only a minor point.

The grip and traction on offer is great for a spikeless shoe but when I tested these in particularly wet under-foot conditions we did feel a little movement during the swing. If honest this was to be expected but the value is the star of the show because the price is low, and these are shoes you can wear anywhere.

How we test golf shoes

Our golf shoe testing methodology revolves around putting models to the test over a number of rounds and in different conditions. This is so we can gain a better idea of overall performance in terms of factors like grip comfort, grip, stability, waterproofing and how they actually look on the golf course. Each of the shoes listed above has been personally used by a member of the Golf Monthly team.

This is the best way of testing a golf shoe as using it in the real world over a number of weeks allows us to see how they perform when variables change like weather, ground conditions, different stances and lies, and so on.

We think this also gives us information on the little details as well like which brands come up small or large, which models start to rub a bit too much after 36 holes, which designs can be used off the golf course and for the drive home? We are very comprehensive in our tests to the point where we will regularly attend product launches and meet with the manufacturer’s R&D experts to understand the new technology. That isn't to say manufacturers can buy a good review though, as all our reviews are made by golfers, for golfers.

How to choose a golf shoe

There are a number of factors to consider when picking out your next pair of golf shoes so to help you narrow down your search and inform your buying decision, below we have put together some key points.

Spiked or spikeless?

The models above are split into spiked (or cleated) and spikeless designs and there are pros and cons of each. Spiked golf shoes offer better grip and stability but don't sit as low to the ground as spikeless models.

Spikeless golf shoes offer off-course versatility. They are perfect for driving in the car to the golf course, playing a round, and then driving home again because they are usually light and comfortable, but most won't offer as much traction as a spiked shoe.

Waterproofing

If you live somewhere that gets a lot of rain then a waterproof shoe is a must. The best designs will keep your feet bone dry however if you play golf in glorious sunshine most of the time, then you may view other factors as more significant.

Many players choose to have one pair for winter and another, lighter pair for summer to keep them fresh and suit different requirements.

Getting the right fit

When picking out golf shoes getting the right fit is important because otherwise blisters can build up. Or your feet may slide around inside, which limits your stability.

When trying a pair on for the first time, listen for the 'whoosh' sound when you slide your feet in - that's the sound of all the air leaving the shoe to confirm it is the correct size, but do a walking test to be sure. They shouldn't pinch anywhere, nor should your feet be moving around inside.

When it comes to the right fit it is also worth considering different laces. Normal laces are good for most but for some golfers, BOA laced shoes provide more convenient fastening and shouldn’t loosen during the course of a round, but are usually a tad more expensive.

Styling

Thankfully modern golf shoe design has seen many brands not just create traditional, classic-looking shoes, but also modern styles that can be used off the golf course too. Therefore it is important to think about what your shoes look like and what style suits you. Whatever you like or dislike, there is something for everyone these days.

G/FORE G.112 Golf Shoes Review

At Golf Monthly we have tested a lot of golf shoes over the past few months and we have noticed that the hybrid golf shoe - one that can be used both on and off the golf course - has become all the rage. It seems every brand has a casual, sneaker-like model that fits into this category and G/FORE is no exception with the release of the new G.112 golf shoe. We managed to get our hands on a pair to see how it performed.

First things first, let’s discuss the looks. The shoe has a design similar to that of the Stan Smith from adidas and I am a huge fan of that shoe so it was a good start. But as you can see from the images there are some subtle differences too. Chief among which is the spiked rubber wrap on the outside of each shoe. Now to be honest when I first saw this I was not a huge fan, and despite the design actually growing on me the more I looked at it, I wished G/FORE had just kept the design simple there. If they had I would have given the shoes the highest praise possible because the rest of the shoe looks so fantastic. That being said from above you can barely even see the spikes so this is only a minor point. The other slight differences are the writing and slightly raised outsole towards the heel, both elements I really liked.

Linking with the looks, I really do think these shoes can be worn off the golf course too, especially in the white and navy blue color I tested. It is the most restrained finish but if you want something louder then there are an amazing 24 different colors for men, and 6 for women to choose from! As such if you want a pair that really stand out, then the G.112 is definitely a model to consider. Of course the louder the finish, the more limited the versatility, but in the model pictured here, there is no issue in wearing them out.

Now we come to the star of the show for me, the comfort. I took the shoes pretty much straight out of the box, onto the golf course and there was no break in needed. The cushioned interior and insole felt excellent, especially towards the heel which means you won’t worry about blisters or annoying rubbing. Speaking of insoles, I have tested G/FORE shoes like the MG4+ and Gallivanter in the past so knew what to expect, but for those of you unaware, G/FORE uses insoles with nubs that protrude outwards on the footbed. These can feel strange at first but once you are used to them, they feel good and offer a massage-like effect on your feet. Additionally the mesh lining was a nice feature and aided breathability throughout testing. G/FORE says this lining is antimicrobial too but I found this hard to really test!

For a spikeless golf shoe, the grip and stability was pretty solid. The spikes I referred to earlier wrap around the entire outsole whilst the design towards the heel is more square and wider to give extra rigidity and traction throughout the swing. Admittedly this shoe performed well in dry conditions and admirably in the wet but if you want top of the range stability when the weather is at its worst, models in our best waterproof golf shoes guide would perform better. That being said, it is still 100% waterproof thanks to the PU leather. Finally my last point on the spiky outsole, it is rather difficult to clean.

Overall, for me this is extremely close to everything I want in a casual golf shoe. The performance in areas like comfort, grip and protection was pretty good across the board (excellent in the case of comfort). But the only thing holding it back, and this is a subjective point, are the spikes for me. I am just not sure they are needed.

The rapper Macklemore is one of the many famous faces from the music industry who has recently been bitten by the golf bug. DJ Khaled has famously become obsessed with golf over recent months, and the pair represent a new wave of musicians and other artists becoming more deeply involved with the sport. In 2021 Macklemore, real name Ben Haggerty, launched his golf lifestyle brand, Bogey Boys, focusing on styles from the 70s and 80s. Today, Adidas has partnered up with Bogey Boys to launch a collection of golf apparel and accessories for men and women that's reimagining classic golf styles. 

"I've always really liked golf fashion, particularly from back in the day and before I even started playing the game myself," Haggerty told Golf Monthly. "I used to go a thrift old golf pants, plaid, tartans I'd put together a whole fit when I was 17 or 18 years old. I loved the stuff from the 70s, 80s and 90s." 

Haggerty caught the golf bug while playing in Hawaii with his father and brother. "It's very clear to me when I first caught the bug for golf. It was a five-iron I hit out of a bunker. I'd already hit like two houses that day but I pured this club out of the bunker, it hit the green and I was immediately obsessed. It was a serious dopamine kick, I wanted that feeling again, and I've been on the pursuit ever since." 

"As I started to play the sport, I'd go into stores and think all this stuff is boring! The options that were available to me, I looked like some insurance salesman. Immediately, I was like, I can do a better job of this. I can make something that's unique to myself and my experience with fashion and something I want to wear. That's where Bogey Boys came from." 

The collection combined Adidas' sport and lifestyle heritage with the vintage and classic looks from recent Bogey Boy collections. It features apparel and footwear for men and women that combine high-performance materials with vintage styles, all with east on and off-course wearability. Four-button placket polos, a terry cloth tracksuit and a V-neck sweater vest are all part of the collection that will also come with a handful of accessories to compliment the range. 

The on-and-off course wearability is something that certainly stands out from the new collection. "I think it's super important, you know, it's a lifestyle. This is a line of clothes I want people to be able to wear and experience so it's designed to be accessible in the golf space but then also has nothing to do with golf at the same time. Hopefully, it's an entry point to the sport at the same time." 

"Whether you're good at the game or not, whether you're playing at your local muni or nine hole course, whether you're super into the game or not, there's something about putting together an outfit that looks fresh, that inspires you to get outside and I love that component of the design process." 

Dylan Moore, Senior Creative Director at Adidas Golf said of the collaboration, "As we continue our mission to be the most progressive golf brand in the world, this heritage gives us the luxury of revisiting our extensive archives for inspiration. Macklemore and the Bogey Boys team were the perfect partners for this because of their love for vintage apparel and eye-catching designs."

As part of the collection, Adidas is also releasing a new spikeless footwear model - the MC80. The new model has been inspired by Adidas' footwear archives from the 1980s, with modern Boost technology being subtly incorporated into the heel for the comfort we've become used to from the best Adidas golf shoes. Adidas Ultimate 365 Tour Primeknit Golf Polo Review

Adidas is one of the most visible golf clothing brands with the likes of Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele and Tyrrell Hatton all wearing its extensive range of clothing on Tour. For 2023, the brand has launched the Ultimate 365 Tour range with this Primeknit polo being of the highlights of the range. I've been wearing it on and off now for a number of months to get a real feel for how adidas has developed its market-leading range of clothing.  

We'll start with the highlight of this polo, which is the Primeknit fabric. There's obviously a sustainability story we'll come onto shortly, but it's got to be said that this is an out-and-out high quality and comfortable fabric for a golf polo. It's breathable, very stretchy and moisture wicking too. Having a stretchy polo that still fits well is hard to find and this ticks all the boxes in my opinion. This was actually the first time I'd ever worn a piece of adidas clothing with this material and it felt right up there with the fabric used in other examples of the best golf polos. 

It's made from a minimum of 70% recycled materials, with 75% of the recycled materials using polyester while the other 25% is nylon. Despite using a large quantity of recycled materials, this is still a premium feeling and looking polo with a modern but comfortable fit dominating the silhouette. Interestingly, there is no stitching down the side like you'd see in a conventional polo, which adds to the overall freedom of movement you get in this polo. 

Styling wise I love the cuffed pieces at the end of the arms that match up with the collar and add a nice contrast against the block color. I also love the new, simplified adidas logo. The keen-eyed amongst you will notice the iconic three stripes have got slightly thicker while the adidas text has been removed altogether. It makes for a much sharper, subtle logo on the chest of this polo. 

The material dries incredibly quickly, and having a polo with these moisture-wicking fabrics means it stays dry and feels fresh for longer. The collar just features a single button, but I really liked the smaller profile of the collar versus some of the longer ones you often see on other of the best golf polo shirts. Available in the blue colorway I tested it in or in a red/navy option, this is one of the most stylish, comfortable and environmentally conscious golf polo shirts on the market right now and is definitely worth a place in your wardrobe. 

adidas Unveils Possibly The Coolest, Most Versatile Golf Shoes On The Market

Do you want  a pair of golf shoes that not only perform on the golf course, but look at home off it as well? Well adidas is definitely a brand that delivers on this in 2023 as it has recently unveiled the brand new Ultraboost 2023 golf shoes which might be the coolest, most versatile pair of shoes in the golf market right now. (For me the Under Armour Charged Phantom SL and NOBULL Leather's are up there as well).

The shoes (which we are looking to test thoroughly very soon) are inspired by the iconic adidas running shoes which means they have an aesthetic that really works anywhere. Comfort also plays a key role in the design with the lightweight upper that supports and hugs the feet. Of course, as you can see from the imagery above, the BOOST foam is present and given how many shoes we have tested from adidas with this technology, we can attest to how comfortable the BOOST foam is. 

Then from a specific golf perspective the shoes are water-resistant whilst there is an internal Torsion System which increases stability and a flexible, spikeless outsole transitions seamlessly from the street to the course and beyond. No more changing your golf shoes in the locker room or car park as a result...

We should also mention that the upper of these shoes are made from a high-performance yarn that contains at least 50% recycled Parley Ocean Plastic. adidas has been a big proponent of environmentally sustainable manufacturing over the last few years and we always want to call this effort out. 

There are three colors available, the special edition design has a Silver Pebble/Olive Strata finish whilst the normal designs will be Core Black/Lucid Blue, and Grey Two/Court Green. My personal favorite is definitely the Grey and Green design!

There are loads of sizes to choose from as well ranging from 4-15 for men, and 5-16 for women. 

The first major championship of the year gets underway on Thursday at the prestigious Augusta National Golf Club and it's the perfect opportunity to see what equipment the pro's trust in helping them get across the line on Sunday evening and become a Masters champion.

Dustin Johnson

The two-time major champion is looking to add to his major tally this week at Augusta and since his split with Adidas, DJ has been wearing apparel with just his new team - The 4 Aces logo on it. However in the practice round at Augusta National this week DJ looks as though he may have a new sponsor in Extracurricular clothing as he sports both their logo and The 4 Aces logo. It remains to be seen whether this is part of a team deal or personal deal Dustin. Dustin is still wearing the FootJoy Premiere Series shoe we saw him debut at the LIV event in Orlando last week.

Tom Kim

The South-Korean superstar burst onto the scene at The Presidents Cup in September 2022, putting in some memorable performances. However, he turns up to Augusta this week with a different putter than we’ve seen him use so well over the last year. Kim makes the switch from a Newport 2 Scotty Cameron to what looks to be a 5.5 Futura model, similar to that used by Justin Thomas and Max Homa with the hopes to win The Masters on his debut.

 Fred Couples 

The 1992 Masters champion is still a dominant force on the Champions Tour and is still ‘sending it’’ according to Justin Thomas’ press conference at The Masters yesterday. Couples was seen testing the new BRNR Mini Driver from TaylorMade. The BRNR can be seen on the USGA conforming list, however it’s unknown whether Couples or any other players are set to game the replacement of the 300 Mini Driver this week. 

 Rory McIlroy 

Rory switched to a custom Scotty Cameron before the WGC Matchplay a few weeks back and will look to continue his excellent form with the flatstick this week. Rory was seen wearing a limited edition Masters-themed pair of Nike Air Zoom Tour Victory 3 shoes in his practice rounds, as well as an unseen Nike Cashmere hoodie while he played 9 holes with Tiger Woods on Monday. 

 Sergio Garcia 

Sergio returns to The Masters for the first time since joining the LIV Golf League and has his team's ‘Fireballs’ logo on his clothing. Garcia looks to be gaming the TaylorMade SIM driver this week powered by a L.A. Golf shaft. Garcia was seen still wearing Adidas shoes despite both himself and Dustin Johnson ending their partnership with the brand earlier this year. 

Max Homa

Max Homa is at Augusta, looking to improve on his major record, after a stellar start to the season thus far. Homa is seen wearing the new FootJoy Pastels that are set to drop on Thursday. These FootJoys are Premiere Series shoes with Easter-themed colors such as pastel blue, yellow and pink.

 Masters-Themed Bags 

More limited edition and Masters-themed bags are emerging, with the latest being the Srixon bag which will be used by Shane Lowry and Brooks Koepka this week and the Cobra Staff bag which comes in a classic white and green colorway with patterns of Azaleas - the plant synonymous with The Masters. We have already seen the likes of the TaylorMade Season Opener Bag which defending champion Scottie Scheffler will have in play and the Callaway April major bag, that world number three, Jon Rahm will be sporting this week. 

Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood has always been touted to do well in The Masters thanks to his brilliant ball striking. The Englishman looks to be playing the Season Opener TP5 PIX ball which has the iconic Augusta azaleas printed on it and has also been seen in the Tiger Woods 13' golf shoes after these were re-released earlier this year.

Dustin Johnson has been seen wearing non-adidas golf shoes for the first time in his career following his split with the brand after 15 years.

Johnson was seen wearing the FootJoy Premiere Series Packard shoes in a practice round for this week's LIV Golf League event at Orange County National in Orlando, FL. The Packards are some of the best FootJoy golf shoes on the market and have also been worn by Tiger Woods over the last year.

The 4 Aces GC franchise posted a video clip of the team's four players hitting drives, where DJ was seen without his usual adidas footwear.

A source told ESPN last month that Johnson needed to get out of his adidas deal to try and secure a sponsor for his 4 Aces LIV Golf franchise.

"As good as the relationship with Adidas has been, it just didn't fit in his plans," the source said. "A major part of starting a team is establishing a brand identity and building that brand. The primary asset is the shirt. ... They want the entire shirt. DJ needed a clean break to start his team. He's grateful to Adidas for letting him out of the deal."

“Obviously I've been with Adidas, I was with them for 15 years. We had a great relationship. It's still really good. We mutually agreed on parting ways,” Johnson said ahead of the LIV Golf League opener in Mexico last month.

“It just wasn't working how it was, just with my new - obviously playing for LIV and the way things kind of go. It was better for both of us to part ways. For me being the captain of the team, obviously being able to go out and find a clothing sponsor is more beneficial than waiting another year."

Fellow LIV Golf player Sergio Garcia also split with adidas at the start of the year after more than 20 years with the brand.

Garcia also split with TaylorMade at the start of 2023, with Johnson still currently signed up with the equipment manufacturer. DJ didn't appear in TaylorMade's Christmas promo content, however, and doesn't feature in the main Team TaylorMade banner on the brand's website. He does still wear a TaylorMade cap, use a TaylorMade staff bag and a full bag of the company's products.

The 2020 Masters champion is one of a number of LIV players in the Masters field for next week's season-opening Major at Augusta National.

The two-time Major champion currently ranks 68th in the world, with LIV still not offering world ranking points. Despite the ranking slip, he won both the individual and team titles in LIV's debut season last year and picked up over $35m in prize money.

We've said it before and we'll say it again: we love crossover shoes. adidas has followed other manufacturers in adapting existing designs, like Nike's Jordan models, into golf shoes that perform. The S2GL is the latest addition to the golf shoe range that Adidas have put so much effort into over the last few years as they revolutionize their golf fashion.

In our testing, the S2GL stood out as one of those shoes you could style as both a golf shoe and a casual trainer for daily life. Comfort? Some of you will be glad to hear it's a much wider fit than other adidas golf shoes, so it does indeed fit true to size. adidas have used their Lightstrike technology through the midsole, something which we see in their spiked golf shoes such as the adidas Tour360 24.

Both the attention to detail and build quality of this shoe is top-notch as well. A leather upper is combined with synthetic materials that give off both a premium look and feel whilst there is loads of cushioning and energy return as you walk.

Best waterproof

Although sneaker-style designs are becoming increasingly popular, there's still a place for those classic styles and the FootJoy ProLite is precisely that. Available in several colors, the accents are vibrant and visually appeasing without being too 'loud' or overpowering.

These might not be as 'cool' an option as some other pairs on this list, but it's always difficult to argue against the quality Footjoy products deliver. The ProLite shoes don't vary too much from the traditional golf shoe look but provide some vibrant and visually appealing looks without being too obnoxious.

Considering these are considered a 'budget' golf shoe, the performance was very good. They're fully waterproof which is a big plus and showed good durability during our multiple rounds of testing. This durability comes courtesy of the synthetic upper, which offers that waterproof protection (it also comes with a one-year waterproof guarantee).

The Duramax Race Trak outsole provides some impressive traction. We barely even noticed that it was a spikeless golf shoe during the swing. As the name suggests, the shoe is lightweight but is robust enough to handle the more powerful swings. Comfort? The thicker insole offers increased cushioning for the underfoot and the mesh liner provides that 'sock-like' feel. The shoe packs in a lot of technology for a very reasonable price.

Best spiked

My top spiked golf shoe pick in this guide is the Under Armour Drive Fade because it offers excellent performance. Whilst there are better looking shoes out there, it has a classic UA silhouette that many will like, especially in the grey design I tested with a pop of color throughout.

Looks aside the grip was outstanding. The same S3 spikes featured on the top of the range Drive Pro shoes are present here which actually meant the Fade competed in terms of performance, despite coming in with a lower price. The result is excellent traction.

The shoes do have a firmer feel which is the norm for Under Armour, but by no means are they uncomfortable because the fit was superb and I felt locked in during the swing. I should say the materials used are synthetic and have a firm feel to them, as opposed to leather shoes which soften up nicely. However this is to be expected for a shoe at this price point, and it is worth saying the material is 100% waterproof as well. All in all there is a lot of golf shoe for your money here.

Best for the office

Another versatile pick is the Daily Pro Hybrid shoe from TravisMathew. We think these are more of a smart/casual shoe in terms of off-course wear, perfect for the work office or a nice evening out in a restaurant.

We enjoyed the traction during our testing as well, thanks to the rubber nubs on the sole. However as much as the shoes did provide good stability, these shoes are not waterproof so that is something to be aware of. They should very much be considered as one of the best summer golf shoes rather than an year-round option.

One big point to make for this shoe is that it does fit quite narrow and as much as the ‘SweetSpot’ cushioning felt extremely comfortable underfoot, the shoes do feel slightly tight over the bridge of the foot so we would recommend going up a size to make sure you get the right fit.

Best sneaker

Remember we said we love crossover shoes? Here's another pair for you - the Nike Pegasus '89, one of the most comfortable golf shoes we've tested recently and a great shout for one of the best casual golf shoes as well. Comfort, looks and an affordable price make this a shoe hard to say no to, especially when you consider both the performance and the fact they can easily be worn on and off the course.

Underfoot, these feel like you're walking on pillows. The hidden Zoom Air unit in the heel helps with this comfort, contributing to the springy feeling as you walk off the tee box. Your heel will be slightly higher off the ground than you may be used to as a result, but I got used to this pretty quickly during testing.

The rubber traction delivers superb multi directional grip on all types of terrain and the outsole will maintain a good grip in damp conditions. That being said in full downpour conditions, we would recommend going for one of the best waterproof golf shoes instead. While synthetic leather overlays give the shoes full waterproof protection, there are better models out there for rain deluges.

Best summer shoe

Sometime simplicity can be king, as proven here with the Puma Fusion Classic Golf Shoe which has quickly become one of the best Puma golf shoes in the range. Pairing these shoes with an outfit either on and off the golf course could not be easier thanks to the simplistic design.

Admittedly spiked shoes will offer more grip, especially in the wet, but the spikeless outsole, which gives just as much grip on the pavement as it does the fairways, making them one of the best golf sneakers around and an ideal model for summer. There is a really nice balance between comfort, support and performance with these shoes as well.

In really damp conditions, you may experience a little excess movement, but it’s fair to say these shoes are more of a summer model than they are a year-round contender. This may be a huge negative to you but given the low price and the value on offer from this shoe, it should be a model to consider if you need versatility.

We find this is the best way to test golf shoes, as it gives the consumer a feeling for how they perform in the real world. Especially in different variables like weather and ground conditions, as well as different stances and levels of power being put through the shoe.

By using the shoes we can tell little things like which shoes may be more narrow or wide and which shoes come up a little smaller than others in the same size. This allows us to pass valuable information to the consumer so they can make more informed decisions. Golf shoe testing is overseen by Staff Writer Dan Parker, who has been testing golf shoes for years.

We are very comprehensive in our tests to the point where we will regularly attend product launches and meet with the manufacturer’s R&D experts to understand the new technology. That isn't to say manufacturers can buy a good review though, as all our reviews are made by golfers, for golfers.

How to choose a golf shoe

What factors do you need to consider when picking out your next pair of golf shoes? Well below are some of our key points that will help you get the perfect model for you.

1. Spiked or spikeless?

The models we picked out above include some spikeless and spiked shoes and as you would expect there is a clear difference between the two designs, both with pros and cons. Spiked golf shoes offer better grip and stability but don't sit as low to the ground as spikeless models.

Spikeless golf shoes offer off-course versatility. They are perfect for driving in the car to the golf course, playing a round, and then driving home again because they are usually light and comfortable, but most won't offer as much traction as a spiked shoe.

2. Waterproofing

Given we are playing outdoors for a good few hours, the weather can change a lot which means we need golf gear, and golf shoes, to help deal with the rain. As such a waterproof shoe is a must. The top models will keep your feet dry and protected, without being too hot, so they must be breathable as well.

3. Getting the right fit

It is an obvious point to make but the shoe has to fit correctly and we such we always recommend people try on golf shoes before buying. This is because a poorly fitting shoe can lead to blisters and discomfort, which will distract you from your game. When trying on shoes, make a note of the size of some shoes you own already that fit well, so you can try on that size yourself. Then it gives you an idea on which brands come up slightly narrow or small, so you can then look to try on more sizes to get the right fit. Ultimately the shoes shouldn't pinch anywhere and your feet shouldn't move around when inside either.

We also recommend considering different laces. Normal laces are fine for most but there are BOA options now which provide more convenient fastening and shouldn’t loosen during the course of a round. It should be noted these are usually a tad more expensive.

4. Styling

As the shoes above show, modern shoe design sees brands create traditional shoes along with modern, sporty designs that can be used off the golf course as well. Therefore have a think about shoes you like the look of and what style of shoe you think suits you. Ultimately the shoe market is so big now that there is a design for everyone these days.

True Linkswear FS-01 Golf Shoe Review

The hybrid golf shoe - a shoe that can subtly be worn on and off the golf course - is very much a style in vogue right now. True Linkswear is a brand that has dedicated its extensive range to trying to find the ideal balance between off-course style and on course playability. The FS-01 represents the model in the range that leans the most into the off-course styling, so did it still have enough on the course to make it one of the best golf shoes of the year? 

Firstly, as a big fan of the Stan Smith sneaker from adidas I loved the silhouette and style of the FS-01 - it's an immediate classic in my eyes. It's certainly taken its styling from some of the best casual sneakers of history and this classic low-profile silhouette shines in the white and rose gold colorway. Indeed, much like I found when testing the Cole Haan ZeroGrand Overtake golf shoe, I actually found myself wearing the FS-01 more off the course than when I played golf in them. Whether it was to work, to the shops, or even out to the pub, the FS-01 looks at home in pretty much any environment thanks to the classic styling that goes well with golf outfits and casual outfits alike. Of course, it still has to work on the golf course to be worth investing in - more on that shortly. 

The FS-01 is made using Eco-Genuine leather - leather that has been recycled and then repurposed to make these shoes. Despite the fact it's recycled, it still feels like a premium product that's soft to the touch and has the same pebbled finish that you'd expect of a genuine leather product. The upper is really easy to maintain and is really durable, even claiming to be scratchproof (so far, so good in my testing) allowing you to keep them in sparkling condition for much longer. It's great to see brands putting in the effort when it comes to sustainability while still striving to create a premium product off the back of it - it's a win-win. Coupled with the softness of the recycled leather is the Wanderlux insole which is soft and cushioned enough to really support the soles of your feet. The shoe also weighs just 10.5oz, so your legs feel significantly less tired after walking 18 holes than you might feel in a heavier pair of shoes. With golfers averaging well over 10,000 steps per round, it pays to have a lightweight shoe.

With the FS-01 being such a low-profile silhouette, the shoe doesn't come up very high around the ankle, so you do lose a little support here. Support around the heel is very solid though and the extra padding around your Achilles heel really adds to the snug comfort provided by the FS-01. The one trade-off with golf shoes designed to be worn on and off the course is often the support it offers, and the FS-01 falls into this trap. It's all about what you prefer from a golf shoe though, and if support isn't a major priority, the FS-01 is still a joy to play a round of golf in. The likes of the Payntr X-003 F, Puma Ignite Elevate, FootJoy Pro SL, and Under Armour Charged Phantom SL will offer you a lot more support and a genuine 'locked-in' feeling, but of course, these shoes don't look even nearly as smart off the course as the FS-01 does.

Finally, it's worth talking about the outsole which has its pros and cons depending on the conditions you play in. In dry conditions, it more than suffices when it comes to grip. To make the FS-01 comfortable off the course, the outsole is slightly depressed into the shoe rather than sticking out of it like a conventional outsole. This is great for wearing off the course as you can't feel the rubber nubs when walking on firmer surfaces, but it does mean when conditions turn wet on the golf course, the outsole doesn't offer as much grip as its rivals. It's another trade-off when it comes to buying a truly hybrid golf shoe and I would save the FS-01 for dry days on the course to get the most enjoyment out of using it. While not fully waterproof, the upper is water resistant so any light showers or surface water won't penetrate the shoe. 

Overall the True Linkwear FS-01 is one of the best examples of a hybrid golf shoe I have tested. While the outsole is a little limited, the comfort of the midsole, padding of the heel area, and softness of the recycled leather offer a premium product with premium performance on and off course. I'd say the grip and support in the True Linkswear Lux Hybrid golf shoe is more comprehensive than the FS-01, but for the cleanest on-to-off-course transition in golf right now, the FS-01 is the real chameleon in the pack. 

Cole Haan ZeroGrand Overtake Golf Shoe Review

Cole Haan is a brand some may be unfamiliar with, especially when it comes to the best golf shoes on the market. Starting off making exclusively men's formal footwear, the brand now encompasses sports like running and tennis alongside its comprehensive casual footwear collections. For the last few years though, Cole Haan has been steadily growing its golf shoe output, with the OriginalGrand Tour a traditional, spiked golf shoe similar to some of the brand's more formal off-course output. On the other end of the spectrum entirely, the new ZeroGrand Overtake is a sporty, lightweight spikeless golf shoe that has taken Cole Haan to the other end of the design spectrum entirely. For me, it's certainly up there with the best-looking shoes of the year, but how did it actually perform once I took it onto the golf course? 

The first thing to say is that this shoe is unbelievably lightweight. They are featherweight when you take them out of the box and this translates to a very comfortable feeling on foot with extremely little foot fatigue after walking 18 holes. If a lightweight shoe is top of your priority list then I'd look no further than this. To add to the overall comfort is the impressive GrandFoam midsole which is soft and full of cushion, almost like a memory foam mattress. It really hugs the bottom of your foot when you walk which is obviously a lovely sensation - who doesn't like lots of cushioning underfoot? 

You'd think such a lightweight shoe would be a little unstable in some areas, but Cole Haan has added a TPU heel cup (seen on this shoe in bright orange by the heel) to give the shoe some real stability when you need it during the swing. It's by no means as stable as some performance spikeless golf shoes like the Payntr X-003 F, adidas Codechoas 22, or Puma Ignite Elevate, but then again the ZeroGrand Overtake isn't billed as a performance shoe. 

Aesthetically, this looks like more of a sneaker than any golf shoe I've worn. Yes, there are options like the Under Armour Charged Phantom SL or Ecco Biom C4 that look like sneakers, but in my opinion, there is still traces of golf DNA running through them. That's not a bad thing of course, but if you're looking for a golf shoe that barely looks like a golf shoe, this is one of the best styles for that. Certainly, the ZeroGrand Ovetake is the antithesis of a traditional-looking golf shoe like the FootJoy Premier Series or Duca Del Cosma Churchill, and that will certainly suit a certain type of golfer who likes to keep their wardrobe as casual as possible.  Indeed, the ZeroGrand Overtake shares a lot of the same DNA as the running shoe of the same name made by Cole Haan. I love this type of silhouette on a golf shoe and think it looks great with shorts or golf joggers when you're playing a casual game in the summer months. I also love this orange/brown colorway, but there are three other colorways to choose from if this one isn't to your taste.

This shoe is water resistant rather than fully waterproof. This means light droplets of water will easily wick off the top of the upper but sustained heavy rainfall will ultimately penetrate the shoe. This is fine though as the ZeroGrand Overtake is undoubtedly a summertime shoe anyway. Having this water-resistant upper means any surface water or light rain showers you encounter won't penetrate the shoe. The upper is easy to clean too, which is always something I look out for when testing shoes that use a lot of fabric in the upper. The outsole is solid if unspectacular, using a variety of different-shaped rubber nubs to give you grip in the areas of the shoe you need it most. However, considering this mid-ranking outsole with the fact it isn't fully waterproof and I'd have to say this is a shoe I'd only ever want to wear in dry conditions. 

As much as I've enjoyed wearing this shoe to play golf in, I've actually been wearing this shoe more off the golf course such is the comfort and style I think it offers. The impressive versatility earns this shoe it's place in our 2023 Editor's Choice. We're seeing this a lot more in golf shoes nowadays and the True Linkswear Lux Hybrid is another great example of the hybrid nature of modern golf shoes. While it's certainly one to avoid in wet conditions, the lightweight nature and superb midsole make for one of the best spikeless golf shoes of the year and a real surprise considering Cole Haan's relative lack of golf shoe output in recent years. 

Dustin Johnson has revealed the reason for the end of his 15-year association with Adidas was due to his LIV Golf deal and the hope of attracting a clothing sponsor for his 4 Aces team.

Johnson ended his long run with Adidas just before the start of the second LIV Golf season – which is now rebranded as the LIV Golf League for 2023.

Greg Norman’s Saudi-backed outfit kicks-off the new season in Mexico at Mayakoba's El Camaleon Golf Club, with 12 teams competing over 14 events around the world.

The two-time Major champion says that ending the partnership was a mutual decision between himself and Adidas despite having a sound relationship with the manufacturer over the years.

Johnson added that being tied to one clothing manufacturer at this time was not conducive with the long-term aims of the LIV Golf franchise model, which is hoped will see teams attract individual sponsors for team apparel.

“Obviously I've been with Adidas, I was with them for 15 years. We had a great relationship. It's still really good. We mutually agreed on parting ways,” Johnson said ahead of the LIV Golf League opener.

“It just wasn't working how it was, just with my new - obviously playing for LIV and the way things kind of go. It was better for both of us to part ways.”

Johnson hinted that his 4 Aces may already have a sponsor, but may not be able to showcase it in the opening event in Mexico with his clothes still stuck in customs.

“For me being the captain of the team, obviously being able to go out and find a clothing sponsor is more beneficial than waiting another year. 

“Which we probably will have something - hopefully my clothes get out of customs and I'll have some stuff to wear by this weekend, but if not, I'll be wearing some blank stuff.”

Attracting individual sponsors for the 12 teams is all part of the long-term strategy for LIV Golf, with the belief that eventually these teams will become self sufficient and even attract big-money investors.

LIV Golf has already secured a TV deal with the CW Network, and also signed their first major sponsorships deal with Global shipping logistics company EasyPost.

That will be a relief to the backers at LIV Golf as it aims to become profitable following a report earlier this month that court documents revealed it generated “virtually zero” revenue in its first season.

Adidas ZG23 Golf Shoe Review

The adidas ZG21 was easily one of my favorite spiked golf shoes when it was released in 2021. It was the shoe of choice for Collin Morikawa through his dominant performances in 2021 that included the Open Championship at Royal St George's. When the ZG23 was announced earlier this year, I was excited to try the new model for myself and, after two rounds of golf out in California, I was impressed with the developments adidas has made to one of its flagship golf shoes. 

The biggest improvement over the ZG21 - and a standout feature in the whole shoe market this year - is adidas' new Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro technology used throughout a newly revamped midsole. Those who have worn a pair of adidas running or basketball shoes before will recognize the Lightstrike moniker as the midsole technology the brand has utilized in its running and basketball division to much popularity. Now in a golf shoe for the first time, I was super impressed with the comfort on offer and the overall softness on offer in this midsole. Lightstrike replaces the familiar Boost technology we've seen in recent adidas golf shoes, and it's definitely a marked and noticeable improvement when it comes to cushioning and comfort under the foot. Paired with the softness of the upper - both on the outside and inside of the shoe - and it is right up there with one of the most comfortable spiked golf shoes I've tested this year and for me overtakes the Boost technology used in other adidas shoes. 

While Lightstrike covers comfort, the improved Stability Fin (pictured above in silver just below the adidas three stripes) is what gives the ZG23 the ability to keep your feet incredibly stable as your weight shifts through the golf swing. Although we saw this technology in the ZG21, it has been upgraded for 2023 to be a 3D shape wrapped around the outside of the shoe and has been updated to be even lighter than was seen in the ZG21. The ultra-lightweight nature of this shoe is very satisfying and really reduced foot fatigue after walking 18 holes. Heavy golf shoes can become burdensome after a while and this certainly won't be an issue long-term with the ZG23. 

For me, the only thing holding back the ZG23 is the looks. It hasn't really developed on the ZG21 look and for me, it doesn't stand out aesthetically in a crowded shoe market. I appreciate this is totally subjective - and you may love the silhouette of the ZG23 - but I just feel the shoe lacks the punch that shoes like the Ecco Biom C4 or Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 have. For me, it's also too similar in look to adidas' premier budget golf shoe the Tech Response 2.0 and I think the brand makes sharper-looking shoes in the shape of the Codechoas 22 and Tour 360 22. However, if performance and comfort are the most important factors when it comes to buying a golf shoe, it's hard to ignore the improved performance and comfort the ZG23 offers.

The outsole features six traditional spikes as well as plenty of secondary traction in the form of lugs. The placement of the secondary lugs you can see scattered in between the conventional cleats has been altered from the layout of the ZG21 thanks to some clever research from the R&D team at adidas. Using heat mapping technology with golfers from across the handicap spectrum, the brand has been able to better understand where golfers need extra grip and where they don't, thus refining the positioning of the secondary lugs. This refined outsole is therefore a little lighter than on the ZG21 but with equal - if not more - grip where it's needed most. There is no doubt there's a confidence-inspiring sensation of grip when you hit the turf in the ZG23 and I also found the shoe to still looks and feels low-profile despite the presence of the spikes. 

Despite my personal qualms with the looks, the ZG23 is pound-for-pound, one of the most comfortable and confidence-inspiring (in terms of overall grip) spiked golf shoes I have tested and has earned a place in our Editor's Choice awards for 2023. It's certainly an improvement over ZG21 and will be a real contender for the best performance spiked shoe release of the year. As is the case in most adidas golf shoes - and the brand's shoes and apparel outside of golf for that matter - the ZG23 is made using at least 50% recycled plastic in the brand's efforts to reduce plastic waste. From my time testing golf shoes, adidas is comfortably the most conscious brand when it comes to awareness about its carbon footprint and production methods. The ZG23 will also be available with a BOA lacing system, will retail between $200 and $250 depending on the model, and will be available from March 3rd, 2023. 

LIV Golf players Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia will no longer be sponsored by Adidas, per an ESPN report.

In Johnson case, it appears the decision to break from the company he has been associated with since 2007 was his as he intends to grow the franchise for the 4 Aces GC team he captains by freeing up space for logos on his shirt.

A source told ESPN: "As good as the relationship with Adidas has been, it just didn't fit in his plans. A major part of starting a team is establishing a brand identity and building that brand. The primary asset is the shirt. They want the entire shirt. DJ needed a clean break to start his team. He's grateful to Adidas for letting him out of the deal."

Adidas Golf president Jeff Lienhart explained the decision in a statement to ESPN, confirming the split was amicable. He said: "We've mutually agreed to part ways with long-time Adidas athlete, Dustin Johnson. For more than 15 years, Dustin has been a great ambassador for the Adidas brand. We've had a front-row seat to see him win multiple Major championships, ascend to the No. 1 ranking and cement himself as one of the best golfers in history -- all while wearing the 3-Stripes. We wish Dustin nothing but success moving forward."

One of the most prominent aspects of the pending LIV Golf League season is the introduction of a franchise model for its 12 teams, where the team captain has equity in it and can build the franchise to gain the greatest fan followings and sponsor interest.

Johnson is in prime position to capitalise on any interest given his team's dominance in last year’s inaugural season, where 4 Aces won the season-closing Team Championship.

Less detail was available on the reason for the company and Garcia - who is captain of the Fireballs GC team - severing their ties, but an Adidas spokesperson confirmed to ESPN that the company has chosen not to renew his deal. Garcia's association with Adidas goes back even longer than Johnson's, over 20 years. The news comes shortly after his deal with TaylorMade also came to an end.

The new LIV Golf season begins on Friday at El Camaleon Golf Club in Mexico.

As of writing, he sits inside the top 80 of the PGA Tour's career money list, with winnings of over $20.5 million. Given how young he is and how successful he has been in a short space of time, we expect him to make some huge leaps as the years go on.

Currently, he has won two Majors in his career and three other PGA Tour titles. For his two Major victories, he earned just under $4m and, in the process, he also won the WGC-Workday Championship which put an extra $1,820,000 in his bank account.

As one of the best players in the world, Morikawa also has several well-known and big sponsors. His biggest is probably adidas and he signed a multi-year contract with them back in 2019, when he was still just an amateur. The deal was to wear adidas footwear and apparel on the course.

Speaking at the time, Morikawa said: “It’s a dream come true to partner with adidas as I embark on my career as a professional. I’ve been a lifelong fan of the brand, and to have the opportunity to represent the 3-Stripes is truly an honor.” The American is also contracted with TaylorMade and that deal was also signed in 2019, but we are unsure how much it is worth and for how many years.

As far as other sponsors go, Morikawa also has partnerships with KPMG, Zurich Insurance and, we believe, he has one with Omega too. After he won the PGA Championship in 2020, he was spotted with two different Omega watches, both of which were worth thousands of dollars.

Along with those partnerships, Morikawa also signed a multi-year sponsorship with U.S. Bank. The company serves as the premier bank sponsor for Morikawa with branding rights on his golf bag, as well as working with the American for the production of TV, digital, print and radio campaigns. Other sponsors, we believe, that are involved with Morikawa include Therabody and Grant Thornton.

Constructed from a mixture of materials, including a textile mesh and a synthetic leather, the first thing you will notice is how lightweight the shoe is. How we test golf apparel

We test golf apparel in the same way we test all golf equipment, by using products properly. In relation to polo shirts this means putting them to the test out on the golf course to see if the design is well thought out, if it moves nicely throughout the swing, and simply if the polo is usable. Additionally, wearing it on the course in different conditions gives us an idea on breathability, warmth if needed, and looks.

We would also wear the polos off the golf course as well because versatility to use a garment anywhere is a great way to get value for money. The final point we wanted to mention here is no manufacturer can pay for a good review because our thorough testing team tells it how it is.

How to choose a golf polo

As mentioned, there is a lot to think about when picking the right polo shirt for you. With that in mind, we have come up with several things for you to think about before purchasing.

Length - During the golf swing if you find your shirt coming untucked often, or your belly starts to show then you should think about a polo with a longer length. That way it will remain tucked in throughout the round and beyond.

Fit - Do you want a more loose fitting polo or something with more of an athletic fit? Slim fit or classic fit? Adidas makes polo shirts in a lot of different styles and sizes so have a think about how you want your polo to fit and be wary of getting something that isn't fitting correctly for you.

Fabric - As we have mentioned above, adidas uses a lot of different fabrics in polo shirts. From recycled polyester, to cotton to spandex, have a think about what fabric you want in your polo.

Technology - Most brands make polo shirts that offer technology to help in a variety of ways. For example, adidas makes models to help the environment, help deal with sweat, keep you comfortable and dry as well. Some also offer UV protection and anti-microbial properties too, so it is worth thinking about what aspect you find important here.

Design - Striped? Floral? An all-over print? adidas regularly pushes the boat out in terms of polo shirt design so whatever fashion sense you have, there will be a polo for you. It is just a case of finding a design you like the look of. We should also mention that you need to think about what you want to use the shirt for because from a design perspective, some are more versatile than others. If you want a polo to use on and off the course, we would recommend a more simple design.

Price - Of course the price is always something people should think about. There is great value to be had with the models above but there are also more premium models for those wanting to spend a little more. Put simply, there is something for everyone.

Adidas 3-Stripes Cold.Rdy Hoodie Review

Adidas is leading the way when it comes to innovating and refreshing golf with garments like hoodies and we recently put the brand new 3-Stripes Cold.Rdy model to the test to see if it was any good and see if it is one of the best golf hoodies on the market.

How tall am I/what is my build?

I am six foot and have a reasonably slim build

What do I normally wear - does it come up big/small?

I am usually a medium in both golf mid-layers, sweaters and hoodies, whereas with some brands I can be a large. With adidas I am always a medium and this hoodie comes up in the perfect size.

How did it fit/feel/perform?

I absolutely love this hoodie. It is exceptionally comfortable thanks to a 100% recycled fleece construction, which really feels soft. Cold.Rdy technology is combined with the fabric to keep the body insulated and warm.

I wear hoodies a lot and this is the kind of golf garment that you can literally use anywhere, it is akin to your favorite hoodie to wear at home rather than one on the golf course! As a result I think it is extremely versatile which is a big plus point for me and offers good value as well. 

Of course the stripes going all the way down the arms might put some golfers off but I actually really liked the design. It looks very different from previous Cold.Rdy hoodies from the brand so adidas is clearly trying to offer new and fresh looks.

Any extra details we noticed?

So the bungee cord around the hood and the drawcord on the hem are easy to adjust, and the hood itself is the ideal size when put up because it isn’t too tight, and isn’t too big that the wind pushes it off. Another small detail I noticed was this hoodie really works well with a waterproof rain jacket or vest too.

Can you wear it off the course?

As I mentioned above, most definitely because of the simplicity of the sporty design. It works not just on the links, but also to sports events, to the pub, just about anywhere. All I would say is be careful in the white colorway, because you can pick up stains or marks from anything! Of course there are three other nice colors to choose from as well - navy, green and black. Overall this is definitely one of the best golf tops out there at the moment.

How does it come out after the wash/do you need to iron it?

This is easy to wash as we stuck to the manufacturers instructions. Manufacturer’s advice as follows: cold wash and with like colors. Wash inside out. Tumble dry low. Do not iron. Do not dry clean. The fact you don’t need to iron this top is a plus point.

Adidas Rain Rdy 2022 Jacket Review

It seems like a long time since adidas updated the Rain.Rdy jacket and given the previous models success this makes sense. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it right? Well in 2022 the brand has decided to give the jacket an update and we have put it to the test to see if it still is one of the best golf rain jackets on the market. 

How tall am I/what is my build?

I am six foot and have a relatively slim build.

What do I normally wear - does it come up big/small?

In most golf apparel, whether that be polo shirts, or hoodies, I tend to be a medium. The same can be said of rain jackets and I tested a medium of this jacket and it fitted perfectly. I tested the full zip design but you can also get the jacket in a half zip as well and both models are available in a couple of different colors. 

How did it fit/feel/perform?

This jacket performs well in pretty much every way you would want it to. Designed to protect players from the worst conditions out on the course, I can honestly say the protection was outstanding. The jacket has a three layer design with a waterproof, breathable membrane it not only keeps out the rain and wind, but water seems to run off the jacket well. This construction also allows it to be very light, and yet I didn’t feel like it was lacking in warmth either. 

Importantly it stretches nicely and given I was occasionally scouting for my ball in bushes and near trees, the jacket fabric itself seemed to be durable. From a looks perspective, I really like the simplicity of the design as well and I have actually used this jacket as much off the golf course as on it. 

Any extra details we noticed?

In testing I noticed how quiet the jacket was when moving and swinging which is a plus point, and I also love a jacket with pockets as well, especially when the weather is cold. The only minor quibble was the collar is quite high, but on those really rough weather days, that might be a blessing in disguise!

Can you wear it off the course?

Yes and having been caught in a couple of showers around London, it performs everywhere. The aesthetic of the design lends itself to being versatile, and it works well when paired with a hoodie, jeans and just about any other pieces of clothing. 

How does it come out after the wash/do you need to iron it?

Manufacturer’s advice as follows: machine wash on cold, delicate cycle. Do not dry clean. Tumble dry low heat (good to reactivate waterproofness if needed). Can touch up with cool iron.

Adidas Tech Response 2.0 Golf Shoes Review

Not even the best golf shoes are immune to the global trend of rising prices. As manufacturers endure more and more costs in production and shipping, so has the price of our favourite golf shoes edged up. Rightly so, golfers are looking for ways to spend less on the game and golf shoes are a good place to save some money without losing out on much performance. Adidas is a great brand to look at for cheaper alternatives and has already made what we think is one of the best budget golf shoes in the form of the spikeless adicross Retro. The Tech Response 2.0 is another affordable option from adidas, this time aimed at golfers who want one pair of spiked golf shoes to use in all conditions. 

Looks-wise, the Tech Response 2.0 strikes a fairly standard silhouette that is a bit boxy and clumpy for my liking. It's only available in three colors too (black, white or grey) and I would've liked to see a few more funky color options available. There are definitely better looking budget golf shoes out there and I'd point you in the direction of the Puma GS-Fast, New Balance Fresh Foam Pace SL or the Skechers Go Golf Drive 5 for a sleeker looking alternative. 

The Tech Response 2.0 has an intriguing mixture of materials used on the upper that allow the shoe to remain comfortable and very lightweight. There is some textile mesh on the direct upper of the shoe mixed with synthetic leather that then makes up the bulk of the shoe. For me, the standout feature of this shoe is how lightweight it is and that is in part thanks to this mixture of materials used. Being so lightweight means there is little foot fatigue to be had at the end of walking 18 holes and the Cloudfoam sockliner and midsole provide plenty of medial support and cushioning underfoot. 

The brand doesn't specific whether the Tech Response 2.0 is fully waterproof or not and, looking at the textile material on the upper, I'd suggest these are 'water resistant' rather than fully waterproof. I've not yet been able to test these in wet conditions but I suspect if the top of the upper gets damp, then so will your feet. The main body of the shoe is sturdy and feels extremely durable though, so I would suggest it's only the very tops of your feet where water could creep in. 

The impressive outsole uses a mixture of standard soft spikes and some additional plastic lugs for extra grip. I really like how sparingly and spread out the soft spikes have been added on the Tech Response 2.0 as it keeps the shoe nice and low-profile while still providing plenty of grip. A classic problem in some spiked golf shoes is that once the ground gets dry, the spikes protrude too much and can become unwearable. There will be no such problems with the Tech Response 2.0 and I'm confident this is a golf shoe that can be worn for 365 (dry) days of the year. 

For sure, the Tech Response 2.0 lacks the premium materials and aesthetics you get with the best spikeless golf shoes, but at just $65 it is very hard to argue with the performance on offer. If you're looking for a solid performer that won't bust the bank, the adidas Tech Response 2.0 should be on your shortlist and is easily one of the best golf shoes under $100 available right now.

Adidas Special Edition Samba Golf Shoe Review 

Who doesn't love it when fashion and golf shoe design meet in perfect harmony? It's a popular new trend amongst the best golf shoes from brands like Nike and Puma to take popular sneaker designs and give them a golf overhaul. Adidas has been doing this too now for a couple of years with the Stan Smith a great example of a sneaker and golf collaboration. Now the iconic Samba silhouette has been given the golf touch to make it into one of the best looking spikeless shoes I think you can get right now. Looks all being well, how did it perform on course and is the Samba the new leader in the race to be one of the best golf sneakers available right now?

Let's start with the iconic name and silhouette this Samba golf shoe carries with it. For me, this trainer style almost has more off course appeal that on it. Out of the many golf shoes I have worn this year, the Samba garnered the most attention and positive comments from my playing partners and friends such is the familiar nature of this sneaker's silhouette. It's available in four pastel colors - halo blue, clear pink, pulse yellow, and crystal white - which very much appeals to those high summer days on the golf course. 

From a performance perspective, the Samba is a quality performance shoe in the right conditions. Bolstered by extra EVA cushioning versus the standard sneaker, this golf edition of the Samba has extra support and comfort needed for golfers walking 18 holes. The adiwear spikeless outsole performs well on and off the course and mimics the original Samba design by featuring suction cups in the forefoot, which now incorporate golf specific traction. In dry conditions, the shoe excelled by keeping a low-profile with plenty of sure footing and it's this low-profile that makes them so wearable off the course. 

As good as this shoe was to play with in the warm, dry conditions of a late summer evening, I would strongly advise against wearing the Samba during the winter - this is a wholly summer shoe. That's not to say the grip on the Samba won't cope with a bit of dampness under foot. While the shoe isn't fully waterproof like some of the other best spikeless shoes, it is still water resistant meaning light amounts of water won't penetrate the shoe and will wick off the top instead. But be sure to keep that suede as dry as possible as they are difficult to wipe clean. 

One final note of caution - and this is the same with all of the best adidas shoes in our experience - is that the sizing comes up a little small. In most adidas shoes I need to go up half a size, but I found in the adidas Samba I needed to go up a full size. It's something worth noting so be sure to check returns policies at retailers when you order some! 

Overall though you can't deny the style and essence of this shoe is perfect for the golfer who likes to keep it casual and show their style on and off the course. Performance in the dry is right up there with the best spikeless shoes of the year and such is the nature of the outsole and the upper, the Samba can easily be worn off the golf course as a trendy fashion sneaker.

Having tested the adult version of the adidas Tour360 24, we were very impressed with what is on offer here and feel the junior version is equally as brilliant. The upper is made from a premium leather which is 100 percent waterproof that'll help to keep your kids feet dry out on the golf course. The shoe mimics the natural shape of the foot, making it great to help keep your kids feeling comfortable on the golf course. But that will also accomodate the natural movement of the foot throughout the golf swing, helping your youngsters improve their technique.

The shoe itself looks fantastic and features pops of pink and blue on its Boost sole that delivers excellent comfort and support around the course. While it can be hard to clean, the Boost sole delivers superior energy return too, which will make your kids feel like they're bouncing around the course. They also come with an INSITE sockliner that adds additional padding for an optimal fit to their feet. Grip is also brilliant here too, with the Tour360 coming with a six cleat design, that is complimented by rubber teeth on the sole of the shoe. Overall, these are a great option for any budding young golfer looking to play better golf.

FootJoy Fuel Junior Golf Shoe

One of our favorite offerings from FootJoy's latest range of golf shoes is the FootJoy Fuel and it is now available in a kids option. It comes with a very sporty design that will appeal to most kids on the golf course. It is sleek and sharp and the colors on offer here really do stand out to make this one of the best golf shoes on the market.

In terms of performance, the Fuel comes with a waterproof upper that will keep your kids feet bone dry in the wettest conditions. We tested the adult version and were huge fans, and the performance transcends to the youth model as well. The athletic, sneaker design works everywhere and speaking of which it will work for other sports as well which heightens the value. The grip and traction for a spikeless shoe was also more plentiful than we expected. The heel, arch, and laced area offer excellent support as well.

Admittedly there are only a couple of colors available at the moment but given the shoes popularity, we do expect more to come out. It is also worth noting that whilst these shoes are waterproof, the breathable mesh can be pretty tricky to clean so we would probably say these are better shoes to use in the summer months, rather than winter.

adidas Junior Codechaos BOA 25 Golf Shoes

As you can tell from our review we were big fans of the adult version of the adidas Codechaos 2025 golf shoe, in both the men's and women's styles. Therefore we are confident that kids will love this spikeless, junior version as well. The shoes are incredibly lightweight and comfortable in equal measure, whilst also looking great as well. In fact we think kids will love the trainer-like, unique styling of the shoe, with the mesh design and electrical style aesthetic on the stripes really standing out.

Of course the volt green spikeless outsole will stand out as well and it will deliver sufficient grip and traction too. Importantly the shoes are waterproof and we should also mention that recycled materials have been used throughout the design which is great to see. We should admit these do come at the premium end of the junior golf shoe spectrum, but the performance does certainly stack up. Of course we have included some models at lower price points above so choose accordingly.

Nike Roshe G Junior Shoes

The Roshe design is one of Nike's most popular lines in the younger generation so it made sense for the big-name brand to bring that success into the golf sector. Regarding the Roshe G Junior shoes, kids can now enjoy unrivaled comfort thanks to an injected midsole that delivers a spongey feel as they walk around the course. That lightweight cushioning does also deliver a lot of support to ensure your kids don't get too tired on their feet during their round. Akin to the excellent adult version, the Nike Golf Roshe G Tour, these shoes boast a lot of quality, so much so that we decided to include them in our guide to the best Nike golf shoes.

As well as its appealing looks, there are a host of other great features on offer here. How we test golf shoes

Our golf shoe testing methodology revolves around putting models to the test over a number of rounds and in different conditions. Many members of the Golf Monthly team have young children which gives us the opportunity to properly test out kids golf shoes, out on the course, and if the shoe has been designed to, off the course as well.

We do this because testing the shoes gives us an idea on performance across a number of factors, like comfort, stability, traction, waterproofing and so on. We also like testing shoes when variables change like stance, weather, different stances and lies, and so on.

We think this also gives us information on the little details as well like which brands come up small or large, which models start to rub a bit too much after 36 holes, which designs can be used off the golf course and for the drive home? We are very comprehensive in our tests to the point where we will regularly attend product launches and meet with the manufacturer’s R&D experts to understand the new technology. That isn't to say manufacturers can buy a good review though, as all our reviews are made by golfers, for golfers.

How to choose the best golf shoe

It can sometimes be pretty hard to find the right pair of golf shoes for your kids. There are a ton of designs and styles out there and while you want to ensure you're getting the best pair of shoes to look after their feet, you're going to also want to ensure you're getting a durable shoe that'll last a long, long time.

1. Spiked or spikeless?

Golf shoes are usually split into spied or spikeless and there are pros and cons to each. Spiked golf shoes offer better grip and stability but don't sit as low to the ground as spikeless models.

Spikeless golf shoes offer off-course versatility. 2. Waterproofing

3. Getting the right fit

The Air Max 270 has proven a popular shoe on the high street, so much so that Nike have decided to bring it to the golf course as well. Sporting three different colorways, we feel the younger golfers out there are the target audience of the this shoe but there is no denying players of all ages can enjoy the comfort on offer.

After testing, I'd recommend going a size up due to the fairly snug fitting but breathability remained excellent thanks to the mesh covering of the upper which aided ventilation, without sacrificing water-resistant either.

Akin to many of the best spikeless golf shoes out there, the Air Max 270 delivers plenty of traction on the turf thanks to the rubber ridges and bumps on the sole of the shoe. We felt pretty stable in damp conditions and that also adds to the versatility of the shoe, which we felt could be worn in almost any situation, from the course to the shops.

Best value

The only eye-catching feature of the Fusion Classic shoe from Puma is the famous Puma Cat logo at the top of the heel - otherwise, certainly fashion-wise, this is an understated shoe. But maybe that's why we liked it so much... it's nice, simple and most importantly, a very good golf shoe in terms of performance.

The obvious thought with spikeless shoes is that they aren't as grippy as the best spiked golf shoes, but the Fusion Classic puts this thought to bed. Grip wise, the tacky rubber nubs at various depths on the outsole provide ample grip in dry and even slightly dewy conditions to provide a firm footing from which to swing. PUMA outfits the shoe with their FUSIONFOAM technology, providing energy return and cushioning as you walk the course in comfort. There are softer shoes available within the spikeless shoe market, but few can find the balance between of walking comfort with performance like these can.

I'd consider these more of a summer golf shoe than an all year-round shoe for a number of reasons. If it's extremely wet under foot, chances are you'll feel a little movement during your swing. I also love how versatile they can be on the course - we wore them to the pub one day after a test round, which is another reason to keep them as a summer shoe - so they don't get too dirty to be worn to casual social occassions!

Best looking

My favorite shoe from an aesthetic point of view at the moment is the Osprey from Sun Day Red. It is ideal for off the golf course use and might be the most versatile shoe I've ever tested. But performance is not limited to the looks.

The comfort here is absolutely outstanding and I was able to wear these shoes all day several times, often going right from the car to the course, and onward. The fit is true to size and the use of foam throughout the design, and specifically on the thick tongue and heel areas meant my feet felt nicely housed in the shoe. Additionally the EVA midsole system provided comfort underfoot.

The breathability was also good in testing but there are a couple of points to mention. First whilst the spikeless outsole offers solid grip and traction, if you play in really wet conditions you are better off going for one of the best spiked golf shoes. Indeed this shoe is only water-resistant and not completely waterproof as well. However if you want a summer shoe that is comfortable and looks great, I cannot recommend this shoe enough.

Best sneaker

We absolutely love these shoes because our testing showed them to be a worthy addition to this guide thanks to the blend of comfort and retro looks. They don't look like golf shoes at all which is a big win when it comes to casual shoes.

Comfort was top-notch as well thanks to the underfoot cushioning as well as the hidden Zoom Air unit towards the heel. Admittedly it gave a springy feeling when walking but it does make you feel slightly higher than other golf shoes so this does take a bit of time to get used to.

The grip was solid thanks to the rubber traction outsole and it will perform well in damp conditions but for proper deluges we would recommend a spiked shoe instead. Additionally, while synthetic leather overlays give the shoes full waterproof protection, we would recommend spraying some protector on the suede areas before you start using them.

These are a fantastic summer shoe because in addition to being great for golf, you can wear them off the course too.

Most fashionable

New Balance has been a dominant force in sports footwear for decades, and its recent entry into the golf market has seen firm favorites from the brand's lineup reimagined for the course. One such example is the 574 Greens V2 which we tested recently.

Featuring the classic silhouette, it has been combined with golf for the first time with the result being a fashionable golf shoe that works everywhere. When it came to testing, from a visual and comfort perspective, we were very impressed. Slipping the shoes on for the first time, they offer that trainer-like comfort that is hard to argue with. With plenty of width, a lovely level of cushioning and solid support, these shoes certainly deliver when it comes to comfort.

Grip and traction performance was admirable in the wet and good in the dry. The variety of traction elements on the outsole did a good job of remaining stable on the wet grass, and even under the stress of a driver swing, we didn’t at any point lose my footing. Not to mention these shoes are waterproof thanks to the microfibre leather.

All in all, the 574s are a really solid offering from New Balance that I think will really strike a chord with the fashion-conscious golfer due not only to their design but also the versatility they offer for on and off-course wear.

Most comfortable

One of my favorite running shoes has become a golf shoe and I couldn't be more thrilled about it. I’ve worn them to work, to the gym and then straight to the golf course. Alongside the Cole Haan ZeroGrand Overtake, True Linkswear FS-01 and Air Jordan 1 Low G, they are the most versatile golf shoes we’ve ever worn.

The shoe uses a Primeknit mesh upper - which is breathable and water resistant - as well as the sock-like material around the tongue of the shoe. There is plenty of padding around the ankle and there have also been some reinforcements around the toe area. This, along with the softness and cushioning underfoot, makes the comfort of these shoes off the charts.

These aren't fully waterproof shoes, but they're water resistant against the unexpected shower that often rolls in midway through the front nine. Thankfully, for the sunnier, warmy days the breathability on offer here is impeccable and your feet will remain a nice temperature despite the hot conditions.

Best off-course shoe

Reebok has made a fair amount of noise in golf over the last couple of years, chiefly with Bryson DeChambeau using the apparel and also shoes. Recognizing this, I got my hands on a pair of the Club C shoes and after my testing they are a worthy inclusion in this guide on casual golf shoes.

Chances are you would’ve seen the standard version of this shoe out and about because it is an extremely popular shoe, one that gets used just about everywhere thanks to its sneaker-style design. They are undeniably versatile, especially in the all-white finish I tested, and as such I think they are easily one of the best golf sneakers.

So in the looks department I think the Club C’s deliver, and I am confident I can say the same about the comfort. The leather is supple and soft, whilst the lightweight design lends itself to all-day use. I also really liked the soft terry-lined collar which housed my feet and ankles comfortably. The thickness of the tongue was noticeable as well because of its padding and just generally, my feet felt comfortable cocooned in the shoes.

The outsole is also solid in summer/dry conditions although in the wet I would recommend a spiked golf shoe here. This may limit the value but the fact you can get this shoe for only $100 means you can realistically get a pair of these for summer, and another spiked model for the cost of one premium model.

Best low design

The Air Jordan Low G Golf Shoes are one of our absolute favorite golf shoes at the moment when it comes to casual designs. Their classic look pays tribute to the original Air Jordans, first released in the early 80s. But these have been re-designed for golf and feature encapsulated air in the heel cushions that make every step a joy. The genuine leather also aids the comfort too.

While these shoes are designed for use in warmer conditions, they do also come with a 1 year waterproof warranty, which is a great addition as you can never predict when the heavens will open on the course. Now admittedly the grip and stability of these shoes can be beaten by pretty much any spiked model for example, but the plus point of these shoes is the versatility. They look like regular, casual sneakers and have the comfort to match.

Best waterproofing

Not only did I give the Ecco Street 720 shoes a five star review, I also still wear there in my sneaker rotation to this day! These have seen many a day on the course as well as many trips to the pub...

These are without doubt one of the best on and off the golf course shoe I've ever tested. Ten out of ten comfort is combined with a stylish but simple design that gives off a modern and trendy vibe. They're also fully waterproof thanks to the GORE-TEX SURROUND, a really valuable feature that not all casual golf shoes have.

Ecco's FLUIDFORM technology has been used here to deliver fabulous levels of comfort that I felt almost immediately once I tried them on. The comfort isn't just felt on the course as these shoes proved to be one of the comfiest street shoes I've worn, particularly in the winter when the rain seemingly never retreats and street puddles develop is large numbers, it was reassuring to know my feet would remain both comfortable and dry. These aren't the most grippy golf shoes on the course but they still perform very well for a spikeless shoe. Ecco didn't set out to make a market-leading performance shoe here, but rather a versatile, stylish option for on and off the course, and they've delivered that brilliantly.

How we test golf shoes

Golf shoe testing at Golf Monthly revolves around putting models to the test over a number of rounds and in different conditions. The reason we do this is to gauge performance in all the factors we golfers find important - such as the grip, stability, comfort, waterproof protection and so on. We also think using the shoes on the course lets us see how the shoes look in the real world as well. Each of the shoes listed above has been personally used by a member of the Golf Monthly team.

This is the best way of testing a golf shoe as using it in the real world over a number of weeks allows us to see how they perform when variables change like weather, ground conditions, different stances and lies, and so on.

We think this also gives us information on the little details as well like which brands come up small or large, which models start to rub a bit too much after 36 holes, which designs can be used off the golf course and for the drive home? We are very comprehensive in our tests to the point where we will regularly attend product launches and meet with the manufacturer’s R&D experts to understand the new technology. That isn't to say manufacturers can buy a good review though, our reviews are always impartial and are written with the goal of giving our loyal readers the best, most informed buying advice possible. No brand gets preferential treatment from us, nor can a manufacturer 'buy' a good review. We simply call it how we see it based on our knowledge of the game and our experience testing some of the best (and worst) golf equipment and products over many years.

How to choose golf shoes

Comfort

Arguably the most important factor when it comes to golf shoes is comfort so we recommend trying on different models before you buy.

When you are trying shoes on, listen for a 'whoosh' sound which should indicate air leaving the shoe which usually suggests a good fit. Then walk around in the shoes to see how they feel and if there is any pinching or rubbing which could cause blisters. This is important because if your feet slide around inside, or you get rubbing and blisters, you won't wear them again and they could damage your feet and performance.

Spiked or spikeless?

Next up is to decide between spiked and spikeless. Admittedly if you want casual golf shoes then chances are you are going down the spikeless route as you want a shoe to use anywhere. Spikeless golf shoes offer off-course versatility but might not offer as much traction so there is a trade-off here.

Spiked golf shoes offer better grip and stability but don't sit as low to the ground as spikeless models. As you have seen in this guide, most of the best casual golf shoes are spikeless, so check out our best spiked golf shoes guide for a comprehensive look at some spiked options.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is always important in a good golf shoe. Us golfers are outside all day sometimes and that means the occasional bit of rain is inevitable, and your shoes need to be able to deal with this. Therefore always check if a model is waterproof. Some shoes are 'water-resistant' where they will survive in a short shower but will struggle to keep the water out in significant rain.

Budget

Finally be aware of your budget because you can find a casual golf shoe at any price point. The casual shoes we picked above all come with pretty reasonable prices and when you consider the versatility to be able to use the shoes anywhere, this further heightens the value.

Adidas ZG21 Golf Shoe Review

Golf shoes are usually judged on how they look, which is great for Adidas’ new ZG21 shoe because it looks great, but there is so much more to it that golfers will really appreciate, making it one of the best golf shoes on the market.

Adidas really wanted to make this comfortable as a walking shoe given how long golfers are out on the course during a round. So first and foremost, it needed to be lightweight and it is - 20 per cent lighter than the Tour360 XT specifically - and you notice that straight away. But Adidas hasn’t achieved this at the cost of comfort by stripping out underfoot cushioning. If anything, this has been enhanced with the combination of Lightstrike EVA foam and Boost under the heel.

It provides immediate softness underfoot and a memory foam sensation over time but while maintaining a slight spring in your step that helps reduce foot fatigue towards the end of the round. Make no mistake, these shoes feel fantastic and fitted our feet perfectly snug without pinching, while the soft tongue topped off what is a very pleasant experience when you tie the laces.

The performance impressed us too. We felt low to the ground and that the outsole was really getting into the turf when we swung, which helped generate power with control. The heel being locked in place certainly helped - there was no unwanted movement inside the shoe and the soft material around the ankle reduced friction so blisters won’t appear.

The ‘acid yellow/blue oxide’ colour may might be a little too bright for some but we really enjoyed the modern styling on offer here. The ZG21 is clearly a sporty and athletic golf shoe for the player looking to make a statement with what he or she wears, but there are more subtle colours available (all black and all white) as well as a BOA laced option. Is this adidas' best ever golf shoe? It's hard to make a case against it. Some golfers may want a cleaner, leather upper but the waterproof Sprintskin synthetic upper used here has a nice textured pattern to it and is just as easy to keep clean while not creasing over time.

I own 12 pairs of adidas shoes and the Rebelcross is up there with one of the most comfortable models I’ve worn. It doesn’t quite match the incredible adidas adicross Retro but it’s certainly one of the nicest and most stable wears out there and should be considered amongst the most comfortable golf shoes.

It does so thanks to adidas’ Boost technology, which is very well disguised - a good thing as the Boost technology has previously been a nightmare to keep clean. Boost is adidas' premium comfort layer that is made by expanding Thermoplastic Polyurethane particles to "form closed cells around tiny pockets of air." The fact that the Rebelcross comes with Boost is a sign that it's a premium golf shoe, and the price reflects that as it's only just shy of the Tour360 price tag.

The Rebelcross is a leather, spikeless model and one of the best looking shoes you’ll find. The brand has been at the forefront of sustainability and the Rebelcross is made from material generated from production waste, e.g. cutting scraps, and post-consumer household waste.

After testing it over a number of rounds and wearing it off the course, I found it to offer up fantastic grip and supreme comfort. It has a stretchy sockliner inner under the laces for added comfort and the heel support clip adds for a locked-in feel. The 'Gripmore' technology certainly works as it's super grippy despite officially being a spikeless shoes. The outer is a mixture of full grain leather and microfibre so should keep your feet dry in standard wet conditions but they are not officially sold as fully waterproof.

The brand's adicross line is essentially golf apparel and shoes that can be worn off the course in everyday life, but the Rebelcross certainly edges more on the golf side for me.

I expected it to be a sneaker disguised as a golf shoe but I would favour my Retros, ZX's or Crossknit 3.0s when out away from the course as the Rebelcross feels and looks very much like a golf shoe to me due to its wide base, its height and firm, leather upper. That sad, I tested it in the white colorway and may feel differently about the black option. This certainly isn't a bad thing as for $160 (£140) it's a superb golf shoe that does everything you would want from it.

There are two downsides to the Rebelcross for me. Firstly, the styling on the top of the foot just simply isn't great to look down on in my view. It's personal opinion but the split seems a little odd and I'd have preferred a more simple all-round leather look. From the side, however, it's undeniable that this shoe looks fantastic. Secondly, and more importantly, the leather started to fold and crease far too early for what is a premium golf shoe. Perhaps I didn't have the correct size but as usual with adidas I went up half a size and the fit feels great so I'm not entirely sure on that.

I have rectified this by keeping them in shoe trees and cleaning them after rounds but if you don't look after them, in white at least, they will start to look very tired very quickly in the vamp area - the top part of the shoe that covers the toes. After two rounds I was already seeing significant creasing so this is definitely something to monitor and look after when owning a pair of the Rebelcross.

Overall, this is a top quality offering that will be a huge favourite of many golfers and a worthy competitor to the best spikeless golf shoes out there. The detailing is great, I haven't even mentioned the tongue which I love, and it is supremely comfortable and grippy. The upper certainly creased earlier than I hoped and it's not sold as fully waterproof, plus the price is very close to the Tour360s so some golfers may want to pay just a little bit more and get the brand's ultimate shoe.

Adidas Tour360 22 vs FootJoy Tour Alpha Golf Shoe: Read our head to head verdict

Golf shoes are arguably some of the most under appreciated bits of equipment you can own. Think about it, shoes are one of the only pieces of equipment you use for every shot during a round - so it's vital you get the right pair. Two brands that produce the best golf shoes on the market are adidas and FootJoy, with the company's premium models ranking as some of the most comfortable golf shoes that money can buy, as well as being some of the most breathable golf shoes too.

For 2022, adidas released the adidas Tour360 22 shoe. Having introduced the world to the Tour360 range almost 20 years ago, the German brand has updated this year's model by going back to its original designs, analysing what made them work and implementing those ideas into the new model. Has it worked? Well, five stars out of five in our review certainly answers that!

FootJoy on the other hand is arguably the most recognised brand when it comes to golf shoes, with the company occupying a range of areas, producing some of the best budget golf shoes and best spiked golf shoes that money can buy. For this comparison piece, we are specifically looking at the Tour Alpha golf shoe which, like the Tour360, has a five star rating.

Although both received top marks in our review, what are the significant differences between the two and which one is better suited to your game? Here, we take a look. 

Looks

Both models are stunning looking shoes and offer a range of colorways that will match any outfit out on the course. In our reviews, we ranked both as some of the most stylish and modern looking shoes on the market.

Starting with the Tour360s, the 2022 model has a few design touches that make them look slightly different to past models. We were big fans of the older Tour360s because of the classic look and three-stripe design. However, with the new model, adidas has found a way of incorporating some modern flourishes that really stand out. 

We tested the white, blue and orange model and were very impressed with the small splashes of color that give a totally unique style. Importantly though, adidas has not gone too far with the design, which features in five colorways. As well as the colors, there are multiple different models with even more adaptability available, making these some of the best adidas golf shoes on the market.

It's a similar story with the Tour Alpha as the shoe is on point from a visual aspect. During our test, we thought there was lots going on at the rear of the shoe, with extra depth at the back creating more cushioning for extra comfort. There are also more cleats positioned to the perimeter of the outsole, with the pods that house them sticking out slightly. However, this is not enough to distract you or put you off wearing them. 

Fit/Comfort

Having looked at the shoe from the outside, we now move to the inside, with both pairs providing unbelievable fit and comfort. Arguably, comfort is the most important factor when it comes to a golf shoe and no-one wants their feet to ache after, or even during, a round of golf. 

Both have innovative technology that is designed to give you the most comfort during your game, with adidas featuring an array of elements like 'Feet You Wear Last', which was first introduced in 1996. The idea is that it mimics the natural shape of the foot and accommodates movement in all directions, even throughout the golf swing. 

Along with the 'Feet You Wear Last,' it also has a 'Dualstack Midsole' which, although you can't see it, helps support your forefoot and the arch of the foot. Finally, there is a 'Geofit Collar Pad' in the top of the shoe, as well as an 'Insite Sockliner' to the rear. Both are specifically designed to conform to your foot, giving you a more personalized and comfortable fit which we really noticed during testing.

FootJoy has also introduced technology to provide comfort, with a snug fit really encapsulating the foot evenly without pinching in any areas. On testing, we felt completely locked in, almost like the shoe was an extension of our foot. This meant it set us up perfectly for powerful swings with control.

The reason for this incredible amount of comfort is due to an 'Ortholite Impressions FitBed' that molds to the shape of your foot. It also provides support and stability through a 'Proprietary TruFit System and Dual-Durometer FTF+ Foam midsole', something that we noticed straight away upon testing.

Performance

So, after top marks in the looks and comfort department, how did the shoes perform out on the course? The answer, very well! Both provided ample grip and remained in pristine condition, making them very durable. Both rank amongst the best spiked golf shoes on the market. This is thanks to them having smartly designed cleat patterns on the sole that maximise grip in even the wettest conditions.

Starting with the FootJoy's, when you pick them up for the first time, you can straight away tell that they are packed full of technology. Noticeably, they feel surprisingly light for a performance cleated shoe but, more importantly, the connection with the ground is very strong. Much of this comes down to the clever design of the outsole, with nine cleats scattered around the edge and lots of quite sharp smaller nubs in between, getting down into the ground with ease.

In testing, it gave us confidence and the ability to swing full tilt in the knowledge that our feet would stay locked in position. Another impressive aspect is that the heel feels cupped which certainly seemed to help us manage aggressive weight transfer in the downswing. In fact, anyone that requires more support from their shoe will really enjoy and benefit from the structure that the Tour Alpha is able to provide.

With the Tour360s, we tried the shoes out in dry, damp and wet conditions and overall there was a good amount of grip. The grip comes from cleats that are directly injected into the base of the shoe which means you won't ever have to worry about losing them. This is an extremely clever design touch and, combined with a variety of spikes and traction elements, it really gripped us into the ground. 

Waterproofing

The last section surrounds whether the shoes are waterproof or not. Certainly it's a factor that is very important. How many times have you been playing in what you thought were waterproof shoes to find out your socks are soaked through?

Although these may not rank on our best waterproof golf shoes list, they are certainly very good performers, with both demonstrating waterproof qualities whilst out on the golf course.

Adidas has provided a premium rich leather in their Tour360, which is 100 percent waterproof, plus you get a one-year waterproof warranty as well which provides peace of mind. What's more, the company has also incorporated recycled materials into the design to continue the brand's goal of ending plastic waste. 

During testing of the FootJoy's, we found the waterproof protection kept our feet bone dry during testing, even in damp conditions. Like the adidas', the Tour Alphas also feature a one-year warranty, with a ChromoSkin providing the protection.
