How we test golf clothing

Here at Golf Monthly, our testing for women’s golf clothes is built upon a comprehensive process combined with the knowledge and expertise of Golf Monthly’s female team, headed up by our women’s editor Alison Root. As far as the specific procedure goes, prior to testing, the team will usually attend product launches and meet with the manufacturer's R&D experts to understand the new technology in each piece of clothing.

When it comes to testing the best women's golf clothes, we head out to the course to try them over a number of rounds. We look to try to use each item in as many different conditions as possible to give us the best feel of how they perform. We also conduct two large testing days a year in which we collate golf apparel from a wide range of brands, and test the gear out on the course, before taking it home and trying it out in our everyday lives.

For a vest, freedom of movement has to be a priority, so the cut and type of fabric is vitally important. In addition, its overall fit and comfortability, level of warmth and protection, and of course, women want to look good, so the choice of colors and styling are taken into consideration.

It should also be mentioned that manufacturers cannot pay for a good review and we make our conclusions from the testing and our experiences.

What to consider when buying a golf vest

So what are some of the factors you need to consider when trying to find the right golf vest for you? Let's take a look.

Protection

A good vest will help to keep you warm in cooler weather. The best models stop the wind penetrating the fabric and making your core cold, and also have nice features like fleece lined pockets and well structured collars to give you some respite in poor conditions.

Freedom of movement

Good protection is one thing, but vests also have to be the right weight to allow complete freedom of movement when swinging a club or walking from hole to hole. The best golf vests stretch and move with the body, whilst allowing arms to swing freely. Vests should be the right length for your body shape to avoid any riding up that interferes with your swing. Acknowledging these points, we recommend trying some on first to see how they fit and feel when walking around and when making swings.

Color

If you are wearing it, you have to like what it looks like. Vests don't have to be boring and dull anymore either because now there are colors and styles to suit all tastes. Some are reversible, too, providing women with the option to mix and match outfits. It is just a case of picking a design and color you like.

Even if you give just a cursory glance at the equipment the pros use, it’s likely you’ve picked up on the mini driver. While far from an explosion, it is a growing trend among the world’s best players; Tommy Fleetwood is one of the clubs most famous proponents. And as we know, what the tour players put in their bags tends to influence what the rest of us use, even if it isn’t always best-suited to our game.

So what is the mini driver? In essence, it’s a club that sits somewhere between a traditional driver and a 3-wood. This means a smaller head, typically with more loft, and a shorter shaft length. It’s not an entirely new phenomenon. Back in the day there were plenty of persimmon 2-woods out on tour, and TaylorMade first released a mini back in 2014. However, there now seems to be a consensus from a range of the leading brands that the mini driver is here to stay.

But who might benefit from using a mini driver? For professionals such as Fleetwood, Adam Scott, Jake Knapp and more, it’s typically put in the bag at tighter courses that place a premium on accuracy. For players of this level, the best drivers can sometimes be too much club, which is where the mini comes in, especially if they don’t carry a 3-wood.

The majority of amateurs don’t suffer from the same issue. That said, it doesn’t mean that the mini driver doesn’t have relevance for handicap players. In theory the shorter shaft will make the mini driver easier to control, while the head volume is still greater than one of the best fairway woods. And who doesn’t like the sound of improved accuracy and plenty of forgiveness?

Most mini drivers are also designed to be used off the fairway, and while they aren’t always as well-suited to the job as fairway woods or the best hybrids, the current designs do utilize technology that should assist in this regard.

We’ve tested the latest models from the biggest brands. In this guide you’ll get our detailed feedback and opinions, on these models, helping you to decide whether a mini driver if right for your game, and if so, which one you should put in the bag.

Best Mini Drivers 2026

The Quick List

Best looking

TaylorMade has certainly been a pioneer of the mini driver. It’s often dipped into the archives for inspiration, such as the SLDR, The Original One, and last year's BRNR Copper mini driver. And it’s done it again with the R7 Quad mini.

Take off the head cover, and you’re presented with a superb looking club that will especially appeal to those who were fans of the original R7 Quad driver. TaylorMade has paid homage to that design, especially from the underside of the club. From above, the infinity crown, borrowed from the Qi35 drivers, is, in our opinion, an upgrade from the spirit crown used on the BRNR mini. From a playing position it results in a clean, minimalist look that we loved.

As for the features, the R7 Quad mini uses TaylorMade’s Speed Pocket and Twist Face technology but the real headline is the same adjustable weighting system on the sole that we saw with the R7 Quad driver. It’s a four-way system that makes the club extremely versatile; you can move the CG forward and back to adjust spin and launch as well as adding bias to the heel or toe to help you dial in your desired shot shape.

Compared to the BRNR Copper mini, the R7 Quad sits a tad closed at address; this can be rectified by adjusting the loft sleeve, however. With the face now the same color as the crown, the loft is less visible; we love this look but it might not suit some.

It’s likely that many golfers are toying with adding a mini driver to the bag because of the greater accuracy it promises. During our testing the R7 Quad delivered similar numbers and flight windows to the BRNR Copper mini, along with a compatible sound and feel.

But while it delivers the same tight dispersion and accuracy of that club, the greater adjustability makes it a significant upgrade; we found that it was easier to draw the R7 Quad than with our driver thanks to the ability to shift the weights over the heel. And of course, if you're struggling with the hooks then you can do the same but instead place the weights over the toe. The club's versatility is further enhanced by its performance off the deck.

Best off the tee

Next up I have selected the latest model from Callaway, the Quantum Mini, which impresses from seemingly every angle. I thought it looked inviting to hit thanks to the extra loft whilst the shape and proportions really worked well.

However it is the feel and performance that really elevates the club. Starting with the former, it felt sensational in two ways. First, thanks to the Tri-Force face, hitting the sweetspot here felt amazing and secondly the Step Sole design means the turf interaction is sublime as well. This certainly enhances its versatility too.

Performance wise, this club impressed both of the tee and turf, whilst I think it would be fair to say I was generally more accurate with the Quantum Mini versus a the best golf drivers and was pleasantly surprised about how little distance I was giving up. I used it more off the tee because of this accuracy, and it offered impressive power too.

Admittedly, off the deck you will need a healthy amount of speed to make it a viable option, but I think the spectrum of abilities that could justify adding this club to the bag and benefitting from it both off the tee and into greens is surprisingly broad.

Best launch

If, like us, you enjoy the visuals of PXG’s Black Ops driver, then the Secret Weapon mini driver should fit your eye. The branding and graphics are similar, with a shape and profile that means it falls somewhere between a shrunken driver and an enlarged 3-wood; some minis such as the Callaway Ai Smoke Ti340 mini driver still look just like a driver.

The club’s sole isn’t quite as appealing. It’s a tad fussy to look at but there are four adjustable weights, part of the brand’s Precision Weighting Technology, which allow you to customize your ball flight. It adds a degree of adjustability that’s one of the club’s ‘secret weapons’, combining two 15g weights with two of 2.5g, which we found to be extremely effective when creating bias or adjusting for launch and spin. The hosel adapter, which allows for a loft of between 11.5° to 13.5° adds to the versatility.

Elsewhere, the high-strength ultra-thin titanium face is designed to provide maximum ball speed and ideal launch conditions. But does all this tech translate to an impressive performance?

By and large, the answer is yes. Despite its deeper face, the Secret Weapon proved to be pretty easy to hit off the fairway, more so than the TaylorMade BRNR Copper mini driver, for example. This added flight should appeal to a wide audience, though the BRNR’s lower, penetrating ball flight means it’s well-suited to windy conditions and links courses.

As mentioned the Secret Weapon visually sits comfortably between driver and 3-wood and this is played out in the distance output; for reference we got 280 yards of carry from the club, with our numbers for the driver and 3-wood being 295 and 260 respectively. If you’re looking for a mini that improves your accuracy without sacrificing too much distance, then this could be the right club for you.

Best lively feel

My final selection in this guide is the Cobra King Tec-MD model which aims to offer accuracy and maximum versatility, whilst coming with a standard loft of 13.5° and a shorter, (almost) fairway wood-length 43.75" shaft.

To start, this does compete with the R7 Quad Mini above in the looks department. It sits beautifully square in behind the ball with minimal fuss, the overall shaping inspires confidence with well-balanced proportions, and its glossy carbon crown looks ultra-premium.

From a hitting perspective, this model stood out in one key area, the impact feel is very lively. It feels crisp and offers a powerful sensation letting you know the ball has left the face with speed. Importantly this performance remained even on off-centre strikes and ball speed was retained in my testing as well.

Overall, the Cobra King Tec-MD is a very impressive release that successfully bridges that sometimes awkward gap between a driver and a 3-wood. I enjoy the versatility, consistency as well as the lively feel and stunning looks. This is is definitely a model to consider if you want a reliable fairway finder and struggle with your driver.

How we test

We test for mini drivers in the same manner as we do for all the clubs we review. We take a detailed and comprehensive approach, usually starting with testing the clubs in a controlled environment and with the use of a launch monitor. This takes the form of using our new Performance Lab which is powered by Foresight Sports and features a GC3 launch monitor, FSX Pro software and a simulator space. It has also been equipped with various items of measuring equipment, such as loft and lie machines, digital swing weight machines, face angle measuring machines and it even has the ability to cut shafts to a specific length.

All of this allows us to collect data ourselves and it's this data that allows us to compare the clubs to each other with great accuracy as well as seeing how the numbers match the claims of the manufacturers.

From here we’ll head to the course and test the clubs under real playing conditions, over several rounds. Getting to see how the club plays in different conditions is vital, and allows us to offer you unbiased opinions and advice that come from our own experiences out on the golf course.

How to choose

Distance

While you may be looking to a mini driver to help you find more fairways, if it’s replacing your existing driver then it will still need to provide you with a playable distance. If you’re looking for help off the tee then choosing a mini driver with a larger head might help to maximize your length. Equally choosing a model that has some adjustable weighting can also help you to gain a few yards, enabling you to negate a slice that is costing you distance, for example.

Forgiveness

The appeal of a mini driver is the promise of greater accuracy. Some of this is delivered by the shorter shaft length, which allows you to find the center of the face with greater regularity. However, it’s still prudent to choose a model that delivers plenty of forgiveness on those less-than-perfect strikes. Again, adjustable weights in the sole can help a great deal here, as can a face design that has multiple sweet spots.

Style

Standing over the ball, a club needs to fit your eye. This is highly subjective, but worth paying attention to. Do you prefer a club that sits square at address or perhaps one that sits a little closed? How about head shape and size? Do you prefer a matte or gloss crown? And what about sight lines and alignment aid marks? The best advice is to try a few models and see which provides you with the most confidence at address.

Feel

How a club feels and sounds is another subjective area but one that's key to finding a gamer rather than a club that quickly takes up space in your garage. The best way is to test a few minis, paying attention to the acoustics as well as the feel at impact, and choosing a model that hits the right notes for you.

Zero-torque putters have become one of the newest equipment trends in golf, so we set out to test as many models as possible. Between myself and the rest of the Golf Monthly team, we’ve tried all of the major releases heading into 2026, spending hundreds of hours both on practice greens and out on the course putting them through their paces. But what exactly is a zero-torque putter?

L.A.B. Golf, a brand known for its Lie Angle Balance technology, believes torque (the natural twisting force most putter heads produce during the stroke) is the enemy of consistent putting. According to the company, reducing or eliminating that twisting force helps keep the putter face square throughout the stroke. Zero-torque putters are therefore designed to minimise face rotation, unlike traditional putters which allow more natural twisting during the swing.

To achieve this, the head designs are often quite unconventional, which may not appeal to golfers who are used to a standard blade putter or who prefer to use one of the best mallet putters.

However, if you struggle with consistency on the greens or find it difficult to start putts on the intended line, torque could be part of the problem. In that case, it may be worth considering a putter designed to reduce or eliminate it, like the models we’ve tested and highlighted below. The OZ.1i putter stands out thanks to the exceptional stability of the head throughout the stroke. It features a completely new head shape for the brand and marks the first time a fly-milled, medium-depth stainless steel insert has been included in the lineup. This insert enhances the impact experience for golfers who prefer a firmer feel, while the standard full aluminum face remains available for players who favor a slightly softer sensation.

I tested this putter with my current ball of choice - the 2025 Titleist Pro V1x - and I loved the clicky acoustics and feel this club and ball combination produced. It reminded me of the likes of a Scotty Cameron Phantom or Odyssey Ai-One Milled putter - widely considered some of the best putters on the market.

The familiar 2° shaft lean option with the forward press grip, seen in previous L.A.B. Golf designs, is still available. However, golfers new to low-torque putters may find the 0° option looks and feels a little more natural at address.

Every L.A.B. Golf putter is carefully hand-balanced at the company’s headquarters in Oregon, ensuring extremely tight manufacturing tolerances. This does mean a slightly longer lead time compared to ordering a standard off-the-shelf putter, but the level of craftsmanship makes the wait worthwhile.

Best value

Typically, the latest innovations in golf technology come with a fairly hefty price tag, but Wilson has entered the zero-torque market at a far more accessible price point ($199/£229). The Infinite zero-torque range includes two models: the Lakeview, a mid-mallet design, and the 606, which was the model I tested on the course.

At address, the 606 presents a compact winged-mallet profile that should inspire confidence, although the footprint could arguably be a little larger. The putters are produced using Metal Injection Molding (MIM), an advanced manufacturing process that allows for beautifully refined shaping and precise mass placement to increase MOI and overall stability.

In terms of feel, the double-milled face pattern was a standout feature, producing a solid yet responsive sensation at impact. Mallet putters can sometimes dull feedback, but this milling helps deliver dependable distance control and promotes a consistent roll, even on off-centre strikes.

Wilson has precisely positioned the CG so that the shaft axis passes directly through it - the way the majority of manufacturers are designing zero torque putters. This ensures somewhat of a ‘toe-up’ approach, eliminating twisting and torque in the putter head.

Overall, the combination of stability, alignment clarity, and zero torque performance makes the 606 ideal for players seeking additional help and simplicity on the greens.

Best firm feel

The only real criticism of the original DF3 was that the ball came off a bit soft and slow for some. The DF3i has been designed to correct this by replacing the face with a fly-milled stainless-steel insert bonded to the 6061 aircraft aluminum body, the same one found in the Oz.1i putter.

When it comes to feel, the DF3i delivers exactly what is promised thanks to the new stainless-steel insert. It's much faster off the face than the original model, something I felt was needed. This provided an extra pop, allowing me to have really impressive distance control when putting from longer range by not having to swing the putter back ludicrously far.

It was on shorter distances that the patented Lie Angle Balance technology truly shone. The notion of just aiming and rocking my shoulders when putting from 10ft and in was something I enjoyed and I saw great success on straighter putts. The putter simply wants to stay square and I felt simply putting with the ‘larger muscles’ was the best way I could complement it.

Best roll

The TaylorMade Spider Tour putter has helped move the brand from the middle of the pack to the very top of the putter market, largely thanks to its popularity among both professionals and amateurs. Looking to build on that success, TaylorMade has now introduced its first zero-torque model - the 5K-ZT.

Starting with the aesthetics and this is a very attractive putter. The updated Spider logo and scripting look excellent on the sole of the thoughtfully designed head, while the blue accents contrast perfectly with the silver and black body. The blue, silver and black color scheme really stands out, and the all-blue Spider headcover is one of the coolest stock headcovers I’ve seen from a brand in quite some time.

Much of the technology found in the popular Spider Tour models remains, with TaylorMade including the Pure Roll insert alongside a milled version of the True Path alignment system. I was particularly impressed with how this framed the ball at address, helping me hole plenty of putts from inside 15 feet.

Finally, the updated sole camber made a noticeable difference during testing. The putter sat beautifully square and neutral at address, which really boosted my confidence over the ball and ultimately led to more putts dropping on the course.

Best blade

Blade putter releases have been relatively rare in recent months, as zero-torque designs have largely taken centre stage, closely followed by traditional mallets. Bettinardi deserves credit for going against the trend and delivering a high-performing blade-style zero-torque putter for golfers who prefer a more compact head shape over the larger, chunkier mallets.

The Antidote SB1 exudes class thanks to its precision milling and diamond blast finish across the head, which is exactly what you would expect from one of the leading brands in premium putters. As you might expect, this is the smallest head among the models featured in this guide, but I still found alignment easy thanks to the ‘T’ alignment feature visible at address. The face itself has been engineered by removing 55 percent of the surface through a deep groove pattern, meaning less of the ball contacts the face at impact. This helps reduce vibrations and produces the remarkably smooth feel you would expect from a high-end milled putter.

Given that this is a centre-shafted putter (a style that can sometimes be slightly less forgiving than traditional designs) I actually found the Antidote to be impressively forgiving. I did struggle a little more inside 15 feet compared to some of the other options in this guide, although I largely put that down to testing on slower winter greens here in the UK, combined with the putter’s very soft feel off the face. I’m confident my performance from this range will improve in the summer when the greens are faster. For golfers looking for a blend of looks, feel and performance alongside the latest in putter technology, the Bettinardi Antidote SB1 is an excellent option.

Best soft feel

Despite seemingly every manufacturer having released a zero-torque putter option over the past couple of years and Scotty Cameron teasing us with Tour Only low-torque options, it’s only now that the brand introduces us to what they are calling OC low-torque putters.

At address, the Phantom 11R OC is a sleek, high-MOI mallet that boasts an exceptionally clean aesthetic. The single, short sight line offers clean alignment and I felt it helped match the putter face up square to my target, particularly when using a line on the ball as well.

The minimal one-degree of shaft lean is something that I love with this putter. It promotes a natural hand position and a clear, unimpeded view of the topline. The ‘R’ in its name signifies softer, more rounded edges than the standard Phantom 11, which is far more linear and sharper, creating a flowing and confidence-inspiring profile.

What really helps this putter stand out against others in the same category is the weight of the head and, therefore, the feel you receive back from it. This feedback is also a product of the club's entire body construction due to the head weighing 15 grams heavier than standard models, all while balanced by a custom black shaft and a tapered Scotty Cameron Matador Mid grip, ensuring the putter feels connected in your hands.

The performance is something to admire for anyone who fights an overactive putter face and wants a premium-looking putter that provides the same feel and feedback as some of the best putters on the market.

Best for alignment

While PXG has dabbled in high-stability designs before, the Hot Rod ZT is the brand's first zero-torque putter released with a conventional (by zero-torque standards) neck configuration, marking a step change from previous models like the Allan putter and the Mustang.

The Hot Rod ZT has already gone straight into the bag of the big-hitting Marco Penge following his move to PXG's PGA Tour roster at the start of this season. It poses a striking look, featuring a modern precision-milled 6061 aluminium head with a sleek black finish. The head distributes mass through a high-MOI mallet shape that frames the ball cleanly at address and the overall size, along with the alignment cues, will inspire confidence over a putt for those who need it.

The putter is engineered with 6° of measured loft, although it only plays around 3° thanks to the integrated forward press grip on the putter. Out on the greens, the stability was instantly noticeable when putting from inside 10 feet. The Hot Rod ZT felt almost automatic, and thanks to the easy alignment and zero-torque design, it allowed me to just rock my shoulders and trust the face to return squarely to the ball. Off-center strikes were also incredibly forgiving, largely thanks to the concealed tungsten and four interchangeable sole weights, which raise the MOI significantly in this large mallet.

If you are looking for a switch-up with your flatstick and want to embrace the zero-torque revolution without compromising on premium feel, the PXG Hot Rod ZT is one of the putters you should test this year.

Most stable

We were big fans of the Square 2 Square Jailbird when we reviewed it earlier this year, so we were particularly excited to get our hands on the Cruiser version. This model features a heavier head and longer length, both designed to provide maximum stability throughout the putting stroke.

At address, the putter looks very similar to the standard-length Jailbird Square 2 Square, retaining the features we liked so much in the original. Alignment remains simple and effective thanks to the highly contrasting sections and the three dots positioned near the face. The longer length won’t suit everyone, but during testing I actually felt more comfortable over the ball because of it. The extended 17-inch grip allows for counterbalance weighting while still giving you the option to choke down and hold the putter in a more traditional way. I found this really helped me dial in my tempo and distance control, and it almost acted like a training aid by encouraging a better release through impact.

Like the original Square 2 Square Jailbird, there is a slight adjustment period with this putter, particularly when it comes to longer lag putts. However, once you get used to the feel, the results can come quickly. The Ai-One insert with variable face thickness seemed to play a big role in improving distance control, and out of all the zero-torque putters I’ve tested, the Odyssey Ai-One Square 2 Square Jailbird Cruiser was easily the most consistent.

Best aesthetic

The Formula Series is built around the concept of matching torque profiles to a golfer’s stroke, offering three distinct options rather than forcing every player into one mould. While the Formula (low-torque, face-balanced) and the Formula (super-low torque, 45° of toe hang) cater to those with a slight arc, the Formula 90 is the true zero-torque putter, designed with 90° of toe hang. This club is engineered to keep the face square to the path of the stroke, attempting to return the face at impact back to where it started at address.

The head is a shape that really suits my eye, and I think aesthetically it is right up there with some of the best looking putters on the market. It’s a fairly compact, wide-bodied mallet that sits beautifully behind the ball at address.

One of the biggest wins is the aesthetic nature of the crown. I absolutely loved the alignment cues on top of the Formula 90. The combination of the deep black finish and the three crisp white sight lines provided an immediate visual confirmation that you are perfectly aimed and really helped my putting from short range. It removes any doubt and allowed me to focus purely on pace, which is exactly what a great mallet putter should do.

The brand’s classic deep milling technology delivers a pleasant feel through impact, providing that satisfying, muted click that translates perfectly to pace control. There were very few vibrations through the head and shaft, yet it delivered enough feedback that control distance with longer putts was not affected.

This blend of cutting-edge stability and traditional milling on the face makes the Formula 90 instantly playable for anyone looking to switch into the zero-torque putter space. The premium price point will have golfers questioning whether to pull the trigger, but if you are serious about purchasing a zero-torque putter that offers arguably the best aesthetics and feel on the market, then the Toulon Formula 90 is worth taking the plunge.

How we test

The putter is arguably the most important club in the bag, as it’s the one we use more than any other. Because of this, it’s important to think carefully about what you want from a putter and what feels comfortable in your hands. A confidence-inspiring design that suits your eye and matches your stroke can save countless shots on the greens, and a reliable flat stick is often one of the quickest ways to lower your handicap. The growing popularity of zero-torque putters could prove to be a real game-changer for golfers of all ability levels, and we’d certainly recommend anyone struggling on the greens to consider giving one a try.

So what should you think about before making a purchase? Below are some key factors to consider when choosing a new putter, particularly if you’re thinking about switching to a zero-torque model.

Feel & Sound

The feel and sound of the ball coming off the face are important, but so too is how the putter feels in your hands. If you’re not comfortable with the feel of a putter it’s unlikely you’ll feel confident using it, so that’s something to consider right away.

Generally, a quieter sound tends to indicate a softer feel, while a louder sound usually suggests a firmer response. There’s no right or wrong choice here, it simply comes down to personal preference. Trying a variety of putters can help you discover what feels most comfortable. Weighting

If your stroke is quite smooth and slow, however, a heavier putter will suit that more. The speed of the greens you play on is important too. Slower greens might require more weight, while faster greens require less.

Grip

The putter grip plays a huge roll in the confidence you feel with a putter. Get one that feels right and sits in your hands comfortably while allowing you to return the putter back to the ball squarely and consistently. Generally speaking, strokes with a lot of arc will require a thinner grip (which is why you tend to see thinner grips on blades and thicker ones on mallets), but this is very much down to personal preference. With zero torque putters the grips that come as standard tend to work best as they have been specifically designed to work in conjunction with the head.

Looks

Ideally you should get a putter that you like the look of as the aesthetics can play a role in inspiring or diminishing confidence on the greens. However, when it comes to L.A.B. putters for example they aren't necessarily the most pleasing on the eye so you may have to make some compromise there and prioritize performance above all else, because that's what really matters, surely?

Value

If you are looking for value then zero torque putters are probably not going to suit your requirements as currently they tend to be among the more premium priced putters on the market. There's a reason for that though, as the individual design, technology and craftsmanship that goes into making these putters are always going to ensure a higher price, but the assistance you get on the greens make that extra cost worthwhile.

While L.A.B. Golf's technology can undoubtedly improve putting performance, many golfers have been put off by the brand's unconventional designs. That could be about to change with the introduction of the compact mid-mallet OZ.1i, developed in collaboration with Adam Scott. It blends L.A.B.'s signature technology with a more traditional shape, making it easy to imagine more of the brand's putters appearing on golf courses than ever before.

The OZ.1i also marks a departure from previous models as the first L.A.B. putter to feature a fly-milled stainless steel insert. It delivers a firmer feel and more responsive feedback, although a traditional all-aluminum face remains available for golfers who prefer a softer, more muted sound at impact.

I tested the putter with my current ball of choice, the 2025 Titleist Pro V1x, and loved the crisp acoustics and feel the combination produced. It reminded me of premium milled putters such as the Scotty Cameron Phantom or Odyssey Ai-One Milled putter - two of the best putters on the market.

Beyond its updated construction, the OZ.1i introduces a new 0° shaft lean, creating a more conventional, vertical look at address and making the transition to L.A.B. technology much easier for first-time users. Best traditional mallet

Moving on from the standard OZ.1i, we come to the heel-shafted HS model. While it retains the same compact mid-mallet profile and Lie Angle Balance technology, the aluminum shaft enters the head closer to the heel, giving it a much more traditional appearance. The thinner topline and shorter alignment aid further enhance the classic look and I immediately felt more confident over the ball. For me the heel-shafted design framed the ball better than the standard OZ.1i and made alignment feel more intuitive.

Despite the visual changes, the performance is every bit as impressive as the original. Distance control felt noticeably more consistent than with previous L.A.B. Golf models, while the heel-shafted configuration seemed to offer a little more forgiveness on off-center strikes without sacrificing the stability the brand is known for. Sound and feel are also excellent, with the 303 stainless steel insert producing the same crisp, responsive feedback as the standard OZ.1i, resulting in an impact sensation that feels every bit as premium as its price tag suggests.

Best Blade

Ever since L.A.B. Golf burst onto the scene, its Lie Angle Balance technology has been hailed as a game-changer for golfers looking to simplify their putting stroke by minimizing face rotation. For traditional blade fans, however, the options have always been fairly limited.

Models such as the original Link.1 and the Bettinardi Antidote SB1 brought the technology to a blade, but their center-shafted designs still looked too unconventional for many golfers. The new L.A.B. Golf Link 2.1 changes that by becoming the first heel-shafted putter in the Link family, combining the brand's patented Lie Angle Balance technology with a far more traditional blade profile.

Feedback across the face is excellent, making distance control particularly impressive on longer putts, while the Lie Angle Balance technology keeps the face remarkably stable throughout the stroke without feeling forced or unnatural.

Most forgiving

The DF3 is arguably L.A.B. Golf's most recognizable putter, thanks in part to its distinctive shape and its popularity among leading golf YouTubers such as Rick Shiels and Peter Finch.

Powered by the brand's patented Lie Angle Balance technology, the center-shafted DF3 is designed to remain naturally square throughout the stroke, minimizing face rotation and making the putting motion feel remarkably simple and repeatable. Best alignment

Visually, the VZN.1i is an unmistakably modern mallet with a substantial footprint, but it's the clever geometry that really stands out. A square cutout behind the ball, combined with parallel and perpendicular alignment lines and a T-bar sightline, makes aiming feel almost effortless. I found it exceptionally easy to square at address, allowing me to trust my setup and focus purely on making the stroke.

The deeper-milled insert produces a noticeably softer feel than the DF3i and OZ.1i while still generating plenty of roll. Pace control from 20 to 30 feet was excellent from the outset, with putts getting into a true roll quickly rather than skidding across the surface. Even heel and toe strikes retained impressive consistency, making this one of the most forgiving putters I've tested recently.

As with every L.A.B. Golf putter, the patented Lie Angle Balance technology is the real star of the show. The head naturally wants to stay square throughout the stroke, encouraging a simple shoulder-driven motion that inspired plenty of confidence, particularly on short putts inside 10 feet.

How we test for the best women's golf rain gear

When it comes to testing wet weather gear, and indeed all apparel, our ethos and methodology revolves around putting the gear on, and using it out on the golf course, in different conditions. Obviously to test waterproofing we game the jackets and pants in wet conditions, and we have also gone to extreme measures before, like pouring water all over the jackets to test how seam-sealed they are. We also test all the little details of the jackets such as toggles like the picture below illustrates, to really see how the design has been put together and how each element performs.

We think the best way of actually testing golf products is to use them thoroughly on the golf course, over a number of rounds, but we also try them off the golf course too because some models are extremely versatile to wear for everyday outdoor activities.

We then use these experiences to create reviews and buying advice content. The women's apparel testing team is made up of Golf Monthly's Women's Golf Editor Alison Root, someone with two decades in the golf industry, and she utilizes the expertise of writers Katie Dawkins and Carly Cummins as well.

How to choose a rain jacket and pants

So what are some of the factors you need to consider when trying to find the right waterproof golf jacket and pants for you? Let's take a look.

Waterproofing

Obviously the most important thing is that a jacket and pants needs to keep you dry. If they don't, they're not worth the investment. Thankfully most of the models above will protect you from the rain because they have been designed with the latest fabric technology to provide 100% waterproof protection.

Be careful when considering wet weather gear because there are many jackets and pants on the market that are described as being waterproof, but they are actually only 'water repellent' and without being seam-sealed are unlikely to protect you from heavy downpours.

I'm not the tallest golfer on the planet, so when I first started playing golf I used a set of hand-me-down women’s irons. I believed that because they had a lightweight women's shaft that they were perfectly suitable for me, no consideration was given to whether they were right for my height.

For petite women golfers, using clubs that are too long will affect your posture because you will end up standing too far away from the ball with little or no spine tilt and this will also lead to a distinct lack of control.

The longer your golf clubs, the more they will weigh. This might only be a slight difference, but every gram counts when it comes to control. Do you get to the end of a game of golf feeling exhausted? Does swinging your clubs sometimes feel a bit laborious? The chances are the clubs you are using are not only too long but also too heavy and added weight can lead to an inconsistent swing.

Standard women's clubs are designed for a 5'7" golfer. The shorter you are, the more you will benefit from a set that is custom-fit for your petite height. A standard women's driver shaft, for instance, is 44 inches long. Mine, which has been custom-fit, is two inches shorter than standard.

Callaway offers a custom fitting service, but petite beginner golfers might also want to consider the Reva 11-piece golf because in addition to the standard size, there’s a shorter option for women who are 5’ 1” and under, and it's one of the most popular women's golf sets on the market. I'll start by complimenting the looks of this set, which are fantastic. I particularly liked the look of both the driver and fairway woods - big circular target-style sweet spot on the face looked impossible to miss and it also acted as a great focus point when behind the golf ball, while the fairway woods were sleek and encouraging to hit.

In terms of performance, the driver was again a stand out performer thanks to the easily achievable high launch and the pleasing high-pitched 'ping' sound upon impact. The irons are super lightweight which will suit petite players wonderfully, whilst they're also incredibly easy to hit. At the other end of the bag, the Odyssey Stroke Lab putter really is the cherry on top of the cake. One of the few critiques I would have is lack of specialist wedges for more creative shot-making around the greens, but despite this small point this remains an excellent package set for petite players and those less experienced in the sport.

Best looking set

The Wilson Magnolia set impresses with its design, performance, and value. The set includes a high-lofted driver, 3-wood, 4, 5, and 6 hybrids, 7 iron through sand wedge, putter, and a lightweight trolley bag, making it one of the best golf club sets for beginner available for petite women.

It may be lower on the price scale but there is no lack in quality in this set. The lightweight graphite shafts on the woods and irons are particular strong points, proving excellent for petite players due to how easy they are to swing. Ping make some of the most forgiving golf clubs on the market for both mens and women, and the G Le3 driver is proof is such achievements on the ladies side of things. It's part of the wider G Le3 clubs family which provide excellent options for more experienced lady players.

This driver is built with the smaller player in mind - those females whose swing maxes out at less than 80mph. To comment on the looks firstly, I think this is a very pretty golf club, particularly thanks to the colorway - navy with gold and silver accents. During testing we found it effortless to swing, generating noticeable power for consistent long and straight drives. The loft is set as standard at 11.5 degrees, but it's possible to adjust the hosel to a loft of +/- 1.5°.

Best premium irons

The XXIO 14 Ladies Irons are designed to be some of the easiest clubs to hit for female golfers, specifically targeting those with slow to moderate swing speeds. In testing i found them to be easy to hit and gave a solid feel through impact, whilst the flight was noticeably high as well.

The ease of use comes from XXIO's ULTIFLEX technology which uses titanium alloy on the club face that is both stronger and thinner and allows for increased ball speeds with little effort. The "Rebound Frame" technology further enhances this forgiveness by acting as a "spring within a spring," while a newly positioned L-Groove increases flexibility lower on the face, helping to preserve speed and distance even on shots that aren't struck perfectly. All of this also helps provide an easy high launch which will be welcomed by those who don't swing out of their shoes.

In terms of performance, the irons excelled in providing confidence and consistency. Ultimately, they deliver on their promise of forgiveness, smoothing out the inconsistencies of a moderate swing while providing a confidence-boosting sound and feel.

Best looking irons

Next I originally included the older Kalea irons in this guide but I've updated this section to the Klaea Gold irons from TaylorMade. Starting with the looks, the blue and gold here looks outstanding and I also like these colors featuring on the shaft and the tacky grip makes for a stylish looking iron.

Performance is not limited to the cosmetic though because I felt immediately comfortable with the iron in my hands. It features a Cap Back design which is a technology to help enlarge the sweetspot for forgiveness. I certainly noticed this in my testing with my ball speed showing a nice jump and therefore my distance went up as well. I also think the irons are nicely weighted, not too head heavy and I found them effortless to swing.

Other elements I liked in testing were the strong and high ball flight, along with the soft sound off the clubface as well. I was also pleased with the noticeable forgiveness on mis-hits - that horrible thinned shot, whilst the chunky wide sole made it easier to play through the rough in winter conditions.

How we test ladies petite golf clubs

When it comes to product testing, our reviews and buyers' guides are built upon a rigorous testing procedure as well as the knowledge and experience of the test team. Alison Root and Carly Cummins take control of the female club testing, making them the perfect judges for this guide given their smaller stature compared to the rest of the gear team!

Getting into specifics for testing the best petite clubs for ladies, we first attend product launches and speak to manufacturer's to understand the technology. Then we hit golf clubs indoors in a controlled environment to get baseline data on simulators and launch monitors.

Outdoor testing is next so we can see how the clubs perform on the golf course. If you are 5' 3" and under, just starting out on your golfing journey, or about to take your game to the next level, there are several things that you need to consider to ensure you play with the right clubs for your height.

Clubs Are Too Long

There are tell-tale signs that your golf clubs are too long. You have poor posture. It's common for women using clubs that are too long to have a completely upright posture with little or no spine tilt. You shouldn't be stood up straight, or hunched over either, at address or when you swing. An improper posture can put serious strain on your body as you swing.

Wayward shots. One of the big challenges of playing with a set of clubs that are too long for you is control. You'll be more wayward off the tee and struggle to find fairways, miss more greens and have an inconsistent ball flight trajectory. Overall, a distinct lack of control. If you find that your ball isn't going in the right direction or it is flying too high or too low then it could be due to your clubs being too long for you.

Clubs Feel Too Heavy

The longer your golf clubs the more they will weight. This might only be a slight difference, but every gram counts when it comes to control. Do you get to the end of a game of golf feeling exhausted? Does swinging your clubs sometimes feel a bit laborious? The chances are the clubs you are using are too long and too heavy for you.

Added weight can lead to an inconsistent swing move. The tell-tale sign is a shallow angle of attack into impact as your body can't maintain the strength that is required to swing the heavier club on the correct path.

Standing Too Far From The Ball

We all know that player who stands with her arms outstretched way in front of her reaching for the ball, which is clearly too far away from her body at address. Every club has someone with an odd-looking address. The chances are they are short and this set-up posture is a consequence of their clubs being too long.

The best players in the world all look completely comfortable in their posture at address, standing to the ball with arms hanging down naturally. Standing too far from the ball effects your body's ability to rotate, limiting the power that you will transfer to the shot. Doing so robs you of distance.

G/FORE's recent waves within the golf shoe market has been impressive - they've been responsible for some of the best women's golf shoe releases in recent years and have continued to build on that momentum with my top spiked pick here, the MG4+ O2 G/Lock.

Firstly I found these shoes to be very comfortable indeed, largely thanks to the now infamous massaging insole included in all G/FORE shoes. This insole is deep and spongey and this combines with a foam footbed to give a comfortable walking experience, whilst the little nubs feel like they are massaging your feet.

In terms of out and out performance, these provided as much grip as you could hope for from a spiked shoe. Lateral traction lugs and ten replaceable studs meant I felt locked into the ground throughout testing which included playing in both wet and dry conditions.

Lastly I really like the look of this shoe, especially in the pink colorway pictured here. It's a modern look and there are also a couple of other colors to choose from as well, with more on the horizon.

Best spikeless

adidas have been at the forefront of one of the most popular growing trends within the golf shoe market - the emergence and growing popularity of spikeless golf shoes. The Adizero ZG I have picked here continues that theme and the performance delivered unquestionably in my testing.

Firstly, I think they look great. Modern, sporty and sleek with a lightweight build, there are a couple of colors to choose from, including the model we tested with pink/red accents featured throughout the design. They're aren't too flashy, but they're far from boring in terms of design. They're very comfortable as well, with Lightstrike Pro cushioning striking a great balance between softness and responsiveness as you walk.

Then despite it being a spikeless shoe, the grip is excellent mostly thanks to the SPIKEMORE outsole which features aggressive lugs on the perimeter of the outsole. This results in a lot of lateral grip and I am confident these will provide ample grip in all possible conditions. Even when tested on wet turf, I never slipped once.

Finally, the new Dynamic Torsion plate running from the middle of the foot to the front, made me feel totally grounded throughout my swing.

Most lightweight

My next pick is the latest edition of the Fuel shoe from FootJoy, finished in a lovely ;ink and white color here. Usually FootJoy is a brand that values substance over style but this has changed over the last few years because I would argue the brand now makes some of the best looking shoes in the game, whilst maintaining the excellent performance. In my opinion the Fuel fits into that.

It is a shoe that suits pretty much every golfer. It might well be the most lightweight shoe on the market, but that benefit does not compromise its performance. The outsole is very impressive, making this a reliable golf shoe to carry you through every season.

These are yet another spikeless option that provide plenty of grip courtesy of the Power Stabilizer outsole, inspired by the popular FootJoy’s Pro/SL series, which means the multi-dimensional lugs and a Stability Bridge that supports the midfoot and gave me great traction during testing.

Best versatility

Next I have picked a pink shoe which might just be the most versatile shoe in golf. Why? Well the 327’s are a cool looking shoe, combining retro styling with great performance, that has come to be expected from New Balance. Additionally I would argue they present excellent value for money a just north of $100, especially when you factor in the performance on offer.

I found these shoes to be surprisingly lightweight and comfortable, though as someone with slightly flat feet I do prefer a little more arch support. I would also recommend those interesting in going up maybe one size in these shoes because they do come in a slightly smaller fit.

I’ve had sneaker style golf shoes before, but these took me a good few holes to accept as golf shoes, that’s how much they felt like out and about trainers. Although I wouldn't recommend these a year-round shoe option, they're a nice rotation option for summer that can easily be worn on and off the course.

Best trainer style

A touch of pink sets of these white shoes and if you’re a golfer who plays frequently, sometimes even twice a day, or navigates hilly courses with many steps, the Puma Crush golf shoes might be perfect for you.

I found them to be the lightest and most comfortable golf shoes that I’d ever worn, reminiscent of a new pair of Nike running shoes but with the stability needed for weightlifting. Achieving a balance between stability and breathability, Puma has created a shoe that fits well, especially for those searching for wide golf shoes. For other women, it might be worth downsizing, as they are fairly roomy in the toe area.

The heel, arch, and laced area offer excellent support, while the traction on the sole is exceptional for spikeless shoes, with soft rubber enhancing grip. They are also waterproof and could double as trail running shoes or even tennis shoes due to their sturdy sole. Compared to running shoes priced over $200, these offer great value and versatility for both golfers and non-golfers.

Best insole

If you tend to walk your 18 hole rounds rather than ride in a cart, it's important to equip yourself with a pair of comfortable golf shoes. We'd therefore recommend the G/18 shoes from G/FORE for those looking the ultimate comfort experience.

As we already touched on when talking about G/FORE's MG4+ O2 G/Lock shoes above, the insole included in all of the brands' shoes is hard to beat. Although it's a weird sensation at first, the massaging nubs on the insole quickly moulds to your feet and keep them comfortable as you walk.

Now admittedly the overall look of the shoe will divide opinion, but I really like the pink/blush finish I tested above, and the design touches elevate it into a unique overall aesthetic which many will like. Further enhancing the shoe is the durability and waterproofing. The G/18 is an all year round shoe and those who play hilly courses will appreciate the Heel-to-Toe Rocker Design which mimics a walking pattern as well as the Crash Pad Heel which prevented rubbing and improved comfort.

How we test golf shoes

For this buying guide, we have specifically included a selection of shoes that feature the color pink, but our golf shoe testing methodology remains the same, putting these models to the test over a number of rounds and in varying conditions. We do this to get a better understanding of overall performance in terms of factors like grip comfort, grip, stability, waterproofing, and in this case in particular, how the standout color actually looks on the golf course. The shoes listed above have been personally used by a member of the Golf Monthly team, while Women's Editor Alison Root heads up all women's golf product testing on the site.

This is the best way of testing a golf shoe, as using it in the real world over a number of rounds allows us to see how they perform when variables change like weather, ground conditions, different stances, lies, and so on.

Our testing process also allows us to see which brands come up small or large, which models start to feel uncomfortable after 18 or 36 holes, and which designs are the most versatile, wearing the shoes on the golf course and beyond.

The testing process is rigorous to the point where we will regularly attend product launches and meet with the manufacturer’s R&D experts to understand the new technology. That isn't to say manufacturers can buy a good review though, as all our women's shoe reviews are made by women, for women golfers.

How to choose the best golf shoe

The women's golf shoe market features a vast array of different designs, colors and high-tech options that can sometimes make picking the right shoe quite an overwhelming decision. If you're new to golf or an experienced player, there are some things that we all need to consider when picking out our next pair of golf shoes. For that reason, regardless of whether or not you like the color pink, below is a list of the key points to consider when purchasing your next pair of golf shoes.

1. Spiked or spikeless?

This guide features only women's spikeless shoes, but choosing either spiked or spikeless is an important consideration. Spiked shoes offer greater grip and stability and can be used in all weathers. But they are perhaps better suited to wet weather and colder climates when the ground is a little softer underfoot. If you're looking to improve your connection with the ground as you strike the ball, then spiked shoes are the way forward.

But if you plan on playing primarily through the summer months, spikeless golf shoes are perhaps a slightly better bet. 2. Waterproofing

There's nothing worse than having soaking wet feet while you're on the course - this will spoil your round. Waterproofing is therefore an essential feature. If you live in a warmer, dryer environment, other factors on this list will be more significant, but if you live in a colder, wetter climate, then having waterproof shoes is invaluable.

Some players choose to wear a waterproof pair in winter and a lighter pair of shoes for summer. Another consideration is the ease in which you can keep your shoes clean. Sometimes breathable fabrics can be a lot more difficult to wipe down than a synthetic material or leather.

3. Support

The average female golfer walks between three and six miles during a round of golf. That means you can be stood on your feet for as much as five hours and for that reason, you need to protect your feet and give them as much support as possible to reduce the risk of tiredness and the amount of stress going through your feet.

For that reason, it is imperative that you purchase a golf shoe that not only looks good because it is highlighted in pink, but also comfortable with added support to your feet while you walk. You should bear in mind also that when you purchase a pair of supportive shoes, you are not just protecting your feet but are also protecting your knees, hips and lower back from stress-related injuries.

Plus if you already have an injury to any of these body parts, you should look to buy a shoe that has a spongy yet supple sole that cushions your step while you walk. You may also want to consider purchasing shoes that give you greater heel support too to reduce the stress traveling up your achillies while you walk. That can also prevent you from turning over on your ankles as you traverse any undulating fairways.

4. Getting the right fit

Along with support and comfort, you also need to get the right fit. If you purchase shoes that are too tight, you'll find you'll quickly develop blisters. But if you purchase a shoe that is too loose, you'll struggle to feel well connected to the shoe and therefore to the ground which will prevent you from playing good and strong golf shots.

For that reason, it is always important to try on a pair of shoes before you buy them and here are a couple of tips you need to bear in mind when doing that. When trying on a new pair of golf shoes, listen for the 'whoosh' sound when you slide your feet in. That is the sound of the air leaving the shoe, showing that it is the right size. On top of that, you need to do a walking test to ensure your feet aren't too restricted but are snug inside the shoe.

Another tip is to try on the shoes with the type of socks that you intend to wear them with. If you're buying a pair of spiked shoes for winter golf, you may want to wear a slightly thicker sock to your fitting session than you would if you're buying a spikeless shoe for summer wear. The better the fit, the more control and power you are able to generate in your golf swing and that means you'll be more confident when playing shots.

Obviously, style is perhaps one of the most important factors that women like to consider when purchasing a pair of golf shoes. For several years, the hybrid has become a very popular club for female golfers, as they are a more forgiving replacement, especially for long irons. They are a cross between a wood and an iron but essentially resemble small headed versions of the best fairway woods.

The wonderful thing about the hybrid design is you will hit the ball much higher, so shots coming into the green (particularly on long par 3s) stop quicker. The clubhead is shaped so that more weight is positioned low and deep, moving the centre of gravity down helps you hit the ball up. What’s more, because the head is smaller and sleeker than a wood it gives greater shot-making versatility from a variety of lies. They are particularly effective (arguably more so than a more lofted mid-iron) from the rough as the head cuts through the grass effortlessly, making them a recovery savior.

Hybrids are either numbered with their direct long-iron replacement equivalent ie 5 (for 5-iron), 4 (for 4-iron) and so on, or they are marked with their degree of loft. A typical 5-iron hybrid would be around 25 degrees for example. The Callaway Women’s Paradym Ai Smoke Fast hybrid forms part of the brand’s range of clubs that feature Ai Smart Face technology. Using data and state-of-the-art machine learning, the club has a series of sweet spots and as I discovered, even mishits were good shots. In short it is one of the most forgiving hybrids out there right now and I felt confident every single time I took it out of the bag.

I like the soft and tacky grip and the flat crown, which has a dark grey matte finish, sits nice and flush behind the ball. It comes with a 40 g women’s flex graphite shaft and the overall swing-weight makes it easy to launch the ball and it delivers penetrating shots with impressive distance. That distance I should also add was consistent as well.

In terms of looks and performance, I believe it has all the ingredients for the standard of female golfer for which it is designed, and as such it is one of the best hybrids on the market.

Best consistency

Ping wants to make it easy for women golfers to transition from irons to hybrids and the G Le3 hybrid forms part of the iron/hybrid combo for consistent gapping. As a result of Ping’s data, compared with the previous generation, G Le2, the length of the G Le3 hybrids (4, 5, 6 and 7) have been lengthened slightly to ensure consistent gapping.

Aesthetically, it’s a lovely looking club with an understated navy clubhead that’s complemented with gold and silver accents and a color-coordinated shaft. I think it looks great and I also really liked the new three-dot alignment aid on the crown as well.

Then I was impressed by hitting performance as well because I felt really comfortable and confident with this club in my hands. It sits nicely behind the ball and the weight suited me. I was also impressed by the consistently straight ball flight and generous distance which is no doubt due to the maraging steel face that flexes at a faster rate to encourage a high launch and longer carry.

Finally a hybrid needs to be versatile and I think the Le3 definitely is. In testing I used it for a number of shots from different lies and situations. I certainly noticed the excellent turf interaction that enabled me to glide the club through the grass while maintaining control of my swing.

Best looking

Next I have selected the TaylorMade Kalea Gold, which is my favorite looking model in here. In my opinion, the dark navy crown that’s highlighted with silver and gold is a far more sleek colorway than Kalea Premier. It really oozes premium which is a tricky thing to do when introducing gold because it can often look a bit over the top.

Performance isn't just cosmetic either. Like the Kalea Gold fairway wood, in my testing it was effortless to get the ball airborne with this club, and the high flight was a welcome bonus as well. This is thanks to the carbon crown as it is designed with a lower centre of gravity to enhance launch and spin.

Overall the club feels fairly lightweight with a graphite ultralight shaft, although when you first pick it up, there doesn’t feel as much flex in the shaft compared with Ping’s G Le3 and Callaway’s Paradym Ai Smoke MAX Fast hybrid. So if you want a bit more flex, then go for one of those options, but for women that prefer using rescue clubs to irons, or if you’ve got a gapping distance in your bag, then the Kalea Gold is worth considering.

Best for accuracy

The Titleist TSR1 hybrid is designed for players with a swing speed of less than 90mph, so this club is ideally suited for many female golfers, helping to increase ball speed and launch from a variety of lies.

It looks and feels luxurious, boasting a sleek wood-like design with a shiny black crown. Compared with other TSR models, it’s more lightweight, but I don't think this compromised control in any way, and simply promoted an effortless swing.

Fitted with a lightweight Mitsubishi MMT SpeedMesh fairway shaft rather than a hybrid specific shaft, which provides an extra half inch in length, means that moderate swinging female golfers benefit from greater stability and this was proved on test. The high launch and flight of the ball was impressive with notable distance.

XXIO 13 is one of the latest generation of female-specific clubs from the brand. The whole range of woods and irons from the Japanese manufacturer are designed to provide women with a better and more enjoyable golf experience, and I can confirm that the 4-hybrid delivered.

Compared with its predecessor XXIO 12, it has new technology - ActivWing and a BiFlex Face - which combined helps to keep the clubhead in the right position during the downswing for the best impact and promotes exceptional forgiveness.

I found that when I struck the ball with this attractive looking club, the performance was consistent across a variety of different lies and I was impressed by the high-flying shots that were effortless to hit.

How we test golf hybrids

When it comes to product testing, our reviews and buyers' guides are built upon a rigorous testing procedure as well as the knowledge and experience of the test team. Specifically for women's clubs, the section is headed up by Alison Root, who has decades of experience in women's golf and has tested many golf clubs specifically designed for women.

Getting into specifics for hybrids, we first attend product launches and speak to manufacturer's to understand the technology. We then hit the golf clubs indoors, usually at Foresight Sports and test the products with premium golf balls on a launch monitor.

How to choose a hybrid

It's one thing knowing what the best golf hybrid clubs on the market are, and something else entirely choosing which model to add to your bag. So, how do you make such a decision?

In an ideal world, a properly executed club fitting will provide the answers. However, if this isn't possible for whatever reason, we have a few tips.

1. Performance

How a hybrid performs is the most important factor. You are looking for versatility that will improve your scores and help you out of trouble in a range of on-course situations. We would recommend trying out hybrids off the tee, from the rough, fairway, around the green and even from the middle of low-lipped fairway bunkers. You need to gauge how well they perform for you and a demo day is an ideal opportunity to do the kind of testing you need to be sure a hybrid is right for you.

2. Feel

A thorough test can inform how some clubs feel during the golf swing and most importantly at impact. Some models sound loud at impact, others are more muted. Some will feel like the contact is a dense thud, others will feel hot and energetic off the face. Feel is entirely subjective and personal to the player. Again, we recommend hitting some models indoors and outdoors, so you can have an idea of what you like and dislike.

3. Looks

With all golf clubs you need to like how they look, especially at address, because you don't want to be distracted by a club you really don't enjoy looking at. Take some time to shop around, feel the club in your hands and see if you like the way it looks and feels at address. Does it match the rest of your set-up, will you feel completely comfortable putting it in the bag? As much as it may seem vain to judge a club on looks, it can increase your confidence on-course if you love the look of your hybrid when you pull the headcover.

Not every hybrid is the same. Some are more wood-like in appearance, whilst others have a higher toe and are designed to look more like an iron. Some are also more rounded and more square so getting the clubs in your hands will allow you to see what you like and what you don't.

4. Budget

The penultimate factor you should consider is budget. Given the number of hybrids available on the market, you can find a quality club at most price points and to suit almost any budget. If you want a premium brand model then you can get one, or if you want to save money, there is usually value for money to be found if you are happy not to own a club by a marquee manufacturer.

5. Testing

We hate to sound like a broken record but go to a range and try some out. Most places still tape clubs up and let you conduct your own range test. It won't be as thorough as a custom fit but you can draw some conclusions. For example, you'll be able to get a sense for the weight and looks of the club and whether the shaft suits the way you swing it.

Hitting some shots, even with tape on the face, will also give you an idea of how easy each hybrid is to hit and get airborne. For higher handicappers, this will likely be very helpful. Better golfers may be in the market for something that's more workable and therefore would be suited to something with plenty of hosel adjustability. Ultimately, it depends on what aspect(s) of performance you value above all else and which hybrid is able to tick the most boxes for your game.

Best budget

Budget rangefinders used to be a waste of time years ago, but now the vast majority of golfers seem to be shopping nearer the bottom end of the price scale and given some of the best budget golf rangefinders we've tested in recent years, it's understandable as to why. Inesis are a fairly new name in the golf market but we are big fans of their gear due to the excellent combination of quality and value on offer. The 900 Rangefinder is a perfect example of this as it offers excellent value for money. It sits towards the bottom end of the price scale, but the performance belies that and I thought the overall value for money on offer was excellent.

In testing I found that it performed valiantly against the likes of the Bushnell Tour V5 Shift, as the 6x magnification gave me a clear view when looking through the viewfinder. The 900 is very user friendly and I found that the weight and sturdiness really allowed it to hold up well in the strongest conditions.

The 900 also uses a First Target Priority system to rapidly pinpoint the flagstick from background clutter like tress and bushes, with each successful lock confirmed by a subtle vibration in your hands. During our testing it proved extremely accurate, maintaining a +/- 1-yard accuracy standard, while the integrated Slope Compensation switch provided crucial adjustments for elevation changes and is a feature rarely seen in devices at this side of the price scale. All in all, these features work toward cementing the 900 as a standout value for golfers seeking professional-grade features on a budget.

If price wasn't a factor in determining these labels, the Pro V3+ would likely be our top pick as it really does set the standard for how good a rangefinder can be. A seriously impressive model, this rangefinder factors in elements like distance, slope, temperature and barometric pressure (elevation), ensuring you can get the most accurate yardages every single time.

When I tested the brand-new wind speed and direction feature, I did find it was a bit of a faff to calibrate it properly and pair correctly with the app, but that doesn't take away from the superb performance on offer from the X3+.

It has slope-adjusted distances, which can be easily turned on and off when you're playing in competition, a built-in magnet for use on a ride-on cart, and target lock vibration. Coupled with the vibration, you can zap the pin and get your accurate yardage incredibly quickly with the Pro X, which is exactly what we want from a top-level rangefinder.

The unique selling point of this device is the customization options - there are a range of stock options to choose from like country flags and other graphic designs. There is also the option to order in bulk and get a personalized design on there - we got the Golf Monthly logo on ours. Endorsed by former World No.1 Dustin Johnson, the Perfect Practice Perfect Putting Mat is one of the best putting mats we have tested in 2025. The end of the mat is raised, with golf balls returning to the feet of the player whether they miss the hole or not thanks to the wooden ramp attached to the side of the mat.

You get a lot for your money and, not only is it one of the best putting mats money can buy, but also the one of the best golf training aids. You may ask, how? Well, it's down to the fact that it can be used on both a tiled (kitchen) floor and carpeted floor. However, I must add that you must be careful with the way you store this item and take care when unrolling it.

I found the alignment aids on the mat super helpful as I worked on the 'straight back, straight through' putting stroke with the help of the white lines. This is important as it helps the consistency on the greens and even help find the best putter for your stroke. Of course you also have the two holes at the end of the mat which really helped narrow my focus and there is something to be said for seeing the ball go into the hole regularly, it really helped confidence and the technique side of things was covered with the other design elements on the mat.

Best for any surface

If you live somewhere prone to wet weather, you'll understand the importance of a quality putting mat and taking the PrimePutt out of the box, I knew I was about to test a quality product.

This mat feels like you're putting on a PGA Tour green, with speeds anywhere between 9 and 11 on the stimp. In testing, I found it to feel very realistic and therefore ideal for using some of the best putting aids on to help develop your stroke.

There are several mat sizes to choose from, ranging from a 1.5ft x 9ft single hole mat, all the way up to a 3ft x 15ft 3-hole mat. I tested the 3ft x 9ft length and found it to be a fair size to fit in most rooms. The only critique I could make is that the mat could be a little wider, especially considering there are three holes to aim for. With the current width, this feels slightly like overkill.

On the whole, it's a fantastic mat and undoubtedly one of the best putting mats I've tested, albeit that it's on the pricier side of things in comparison to other options on this list - but you very much get what you pay for. How to choose an indoor putting green

Size

Be aware of the size of space you have at your disposal. There is little point buying a massive putting mat only for it not to fit into a space in your house. If you have limited space, there are specific putting mats made with you in mind so try and shop in that area. Before purchasing, it's always good to know the size of the mat just so you not what to expect when it arrives and you prepare to set it up.

Convenience

Linking with the above point, how convenient do you want the indoor green to be, primarily in terms of how easy is it to store and fold away. Some of the models above are convenient and easily in a bag, whilst others have the hole attachment which takes up a bit more room.

What do you want to practice

If you’re looking to focus on a specific part of your putting, there will be a green for that. A long putting green will obviously help you with pace and distance control whilst models with holes on will help you gain more confidence just by seeing the ball go in the hole more often. Alternatively, if you just want to use the green for fun, rather than intense practice, then go for a model with holes and fun little accessories too.

Durability

Almost all putting mats are durable, but some more than others. If you just adore practicing your putting and would plan on using the mat daily, some of the cheaper options can wear down quicker than others, leading to inconsistent rolls and speeds. Best Srixon Drivers

Srixon ZXi Driver

The ZXi series is Srixon’s newest lineup of drivers. The ZXi is the ‘standard’ model, and builds on the existing ZX7 Mk II driver. So what’s new?

Visually, the ZXi is cleaner in its appearance, with Srixon tidying up the rather cluttered looking sole of the ZX7 Mk II. They’ve added subtle improvements from the address position too; I really like the tinted textures on the crown, helping to elevate the entire package. The result is a truly sophisticated looking driver that’s clearly a premium product.

Of course, looks aren’t everything, but fortunately the ZXi also adds some improvements in performance, too. The ZXi utilizes i-Flex face technology to deliver a powerful feel and a more muted, refined sound than its louder predecessor. It offers excellent versatility through dual sole weights that allow players to effortlessly fine-tune their ball flight, while the stable design ensures exceptional control and generous forgiveness, maintaining high ball speeds even on off-center strikes.

Srixon ZXi LS Driver

Part of the ZXi family, the LS is Srixon’s low spinning model and is one of my favourite examples of the concept.

Like the ZXi it uses Srixon’s i-Flex face technology, which is designed to add some ball speed, as well as featuring the two adjustable sole weights. Looks are also on par with the standard model, with classy, subtle aesthetics throughout; there’s plenty to like here both on the shelf and at address.

Low spinning drivers are for everyone, and are likely best suited for better players who want to reduce their spin rate while maintaining ball speed. The ZXi LS isn’t as easy to hit as the standard model as result, with a noticeable fade bias that’s typically in this category. That said, I found the ball flight to be consistent throughout my testing, with a greater degree of forgiveness than you might readily expect from a LS model.

Will it challenge the likes of Taylormade and Ping, both of who make some of the most popular low spinning drivers around? Maybe not, but if you’re after an understanding look combined with a consistent ball flight, then the ZXi LS should be on your short list.

Srixon ZXi Max Driver

Another model in the ZXi driver trilogy, and this time the headline act is maximum forgiveness. The Max is designed to be the most playable of three models, with a game-improvement bent that should appeal to a fairly wide range of players.

From the address the Max is a bit of a mixed bag. While the crown oozes class, the head shape and face doesn’t perhaps inspire confidence in the way that a driver in this category should. However, this is subjective, and there are likely plenty of mid-to-higher handicappers who will appreciate the ‘better player’ look.

However, when it comes to performance there is little to debate. I found this to be a seriously forgiving driver, providing an impressively tight dispersion rate even on toe and heel strikes - it’s right up there with the most forcing drivers i’ve played. Ball flight would be best described as neutral, which might not suit those who are battling a slice off the tee. That said, its high level of consistency should be music to the ears of any golfer regardless of their shot shape.

Srixon ZX7 Mk II Driver

The ZX7 Mk II initially found the spotlight as the driver of choice for Keegan Bradley. The former US Ryder Cup captain has since moved on to a different Srixon model, but this driver is still worthy of consideration for better players.

Tailored perfectly for single-digit handicappers who love to shape their shots, the ZX7 Mk II features a compact profile that serves as a refreshing antidote to today's oversized drivers. This design delivers exceptional workability and control alongside impressive ball speeds that unlock genuine distance gains. Visually, its clean matte crown and understated silver accents offer a classy, low-glare look at address, while impact provides a thoroughly modern experience defined by powerful acoustics and a rock-solid feel.

Srixon ZX5 Mk II Driver

By swapping the carbon crown for an all-titanium construction, Srixon successfully redistributed weight to maximize launch and distance in the ZX5 Mk II. Noticeably more forgiving and easier to launch than the ZX7, it prioritizes straight-line stability over workability to offer a versatile profile with broad appeal across all skill levels - higher handicaps can utilize its draw-bias configuration to aggressively tame a slice, while faster-swinging, better players can easily optimize the high-speed head through a custom shaft fitting.

Visually, it’s another win for Srixon. The dark grey finish looks the part, with a simple yet classy head shape that works at address, alongside a reasonably uncluttered sole that again relies on a simple but effective color palette. As for the sound and feel, it’s solid and powerful.

If there are any downsides to the ZX5 Mk II it’s the fairly limited degree of adjustability. The club has just a single 8g weight on the sole, meaning that adding a heavier weight for example would need to be done during a fitting. That said, the hosel does allow for some tweaking of the lie and the loft.

Chipping and pitching can be one of the the hardest parts of golf to master. Fluffing your chip onto the green after hitting a beautiful drive along the fairway has to be one of the most frustrating mistakes you can make in golf. Likewise, playing a good chip shot can be the the difference between a birdie and a par, which is why your wedges are often referred to as your scoring clubs. But traditional wedges can sometimes be very difficult to use - particularly for less experienced players.

Top pick

Our top pick on the chipper market currently is the Ping ChipR, which has been designed to help golfers who struggle when faced with shots around the green, and those who struggle to use traditional wedges.

Available in a standard nine-iron loft, around 38.5 degrees, it actually has a length of 35 inches and a 70º lie angle - numbers you'd normally see in a putter. Admittedly these are customizable elements but the basic premise here is to use a putting stroke to play shots around the green. It took a bit of time to get used to it but I actually thought the club proved to be highly effective from close range, and it seemed to deal with troublesome lies easily. This was thanks to a couple of technologies that would be at home on standard wedges, for example the cambered sole makes it easier to play from the rough and MicroMax grooves delivered solid spin. Also it is worth acknowledging it worked brilliantly for that very awkward 40-yard chip where many of us have no real idea on how to play the shot with our lob wedges.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by the performance here. Not only did the hitting experience deliver, but I think it looked great as well. The hydropearl chrome finish has the appearance of a regular club in the bag so, if you don't want anything too clunky looking in the bag, then this is another huge tick in the box.

Best value

When it comes to chippers, Mazel offers more loft options than anyone, with four choices ranging from 35 all the way to 60 degrees. And while the brand offer this chipper in such a high loft, we must acknowledge that this is not a wedge you'll be hitting flop shots from out of high-rise bunkers. Akin to the other offerings on this list, it is designed to be swung like some of the best putters on the market, to help you get the ball rolling forward quickly, removing any of the contact issues that a traditional wedge might provide.

In testing, we found the Mazel chipper performed pretty well around the greens. In fact, it exceeded our expectations in terms of spin, and was more forgiving on mis-hits than we anticipated. What you will give up, however, as is the case with most chippers, is the versatility that some of the best golf wedges on the market offer, to play a wide array of shots. But that trade off might be worth it, depending on your experience level and your confidence around the greens.

Best alignment

First things first, the Odyssey Chipper has 37 degrees of loft, has a large footprint behind the ball with three white lines on the flange that amplify where the face is aiming, and a black overall finish. My first impressions at address were that this is arguably as user-friendly to the eye as it gets. In particular I liked the white and black contrast as well as the white insert which framed the ball nicely.

This grooved polymer face insert actually felt soft off the face whilst the other feature to mention is the putter-style grip, which allows for you to adjust the playing length to execute shots in a manner that feels most comfortable for you.

When it came to hitting shots every one came out extremely flat with minimal spin and plenty of release. As such I can see the appeal of this club on tight lies and on shots you want to bump along the ground. Clean contact was certainly easy to achieve, helped by the lie angle which encourages you to employ it much like you would a putter, although it is not completely duff proof.

For example it did struggle out of the rough a bit however if you want to try a club that could help your short game, when all else has failed, I would recommend trying this chipper.

How to choose a chipper

As with any golf club, there are a lot of things to take into account when making your buying decision. While the whole set performed well in our testing, the driver was the standout, delivering results that exceeded expectations for the modest price tag.

That said, the aesthetics leave a little something to be desired. The fairway woods and putter certainly won’t win any design awards. The small “T” logo on the crown feels oddly positioned while the putter’s mix of colours and paintwork could have been executed better. The effort is clear, but the finish doesn’t quite match the performance.

Tour Edge Hot Launch Max Driver

With the release of the new Hot Launch Max, Tour Edge is promising high-end technology and stability for a fraction of the cost. With Max in the name, the brand has focused on high MOI (Moment of Inertia) by implementing a rear weight, Diamond Face Technology, and a Cup Face design, all with the goal of ball speed across the face. But how did it perform in my testing?

It has a fairly basic aesthetic which I really like. The crown offers a simplistic, clean appearance with no unnecessary strips of graphics anywhere. It also sits squarely at address too.

Admittedly there is a fairly clangy sound at impact which may be polarizing for some, but elsewhere performance-wise it was excellent. The standout area was spin with it providing an abundance of it. This will make it playable for moderate speed players who need help keeping the ball in the air. The ball speed and neutral ball flight were further bonuses.

Frankly, for $299.99, this is a fantastic value proposition. Tour Edge has managed to package genuine stability and impressive face technology into a clean, no-nonsense aesthetic.

Tour Edge Exotics LS Driver

The Exotics LS is a low-spin driver designed for higher-speed players who prioritize control and a penetrating ball flight. A remade look deliver a carbon crown and sole, a titanium 'Ridgeback' frame for added stability as well as new 'Pyramid Face' technology to maintain ball speeds on off-center hits. It's harder to hit than the regular Max driver, which we'll get onto talking about shortly, but can be adjusted by utilizing two adjustable weights on the sole to fine-tune launch and spin characteristics, allowing players to tailor it to their games.

In the nicest way possible, the flight off this driver is boring, but boring is good! It's particularly effective when hitting into the wind which will prove beneficial to those who plays links golf or tend to play a lot of golf whilst battling the elements. Additionally, the sound at impact has been improved from previous iterations, offering a more solid and satisfying lower-pitched acoustic that provides immediate feedback to the player.

When we consider this club is priced at approximately $499 and comes with an extensive list of premium, zero-upcharge shaft options, it means this driver should be considered by all players looking a low-spin upgrade at the top of the bag. Admittedly, we aren't in love with the new look and logo but the performance remains highly competitive with flagship drivers from major brands.

Tour Edge Exotics Max Driver

The Exotics Max is a high-MOI driver designed to be the successor of the Tour Edge Exotics E725, a driver we found very impressive when we tested it last year. The selling point of this driver is the forgiveness on offer, helped by the large head profile that will boost confidence at address and a deep center of gravity to enhance forgiveness across the face.

We found during testing that the forgiveness is as advertised - off-center hits maintain a stable flight and didn't finish too far behind well-struck efforts. We did find spin rates rather high during testing which will suit those with slow to average swing speeds and perhaps a little too spinny for those with fast swing speeds which could cause a loss of distance for those who hit the ball further.

To conclude, this driver is an excellent value proposition, priced competitively at around $499 with a wide variety of premium, zero-upcharge shaft options. Although we found the updated aesthetics and logo less appealing than prior iterations, the performance makes it a top choice for players seeking flagship-level technology and valuable consistency without the premium price tag of major brands.

Tour Edge Exotics Mini Driver

With the mini driver sector remaining one of the most exciting growth areas in golf equipment, Tour Edge has thrown its hat into the ring with the Exotics Mini Driver.

From a looks perspective, there is a lot to admire. The overall 280cc head shaping and the carbon crown frame the ball nicely. Now visually it does sit very flat with the toe falling away at address so if you tend to lose the ball right, this can be a bit of a scary club to look down on. If your miss is left, then then it looks great.

In terms of performance, the feel is exceptionally good. Additionally it produced comparable ball speeds and carry numbers than a lot of market rivals when I tested it with the exact same lofts. This is a serious achievement given it comes in at upwards of $100 cheaper than the competition.

Irons

Tour Edge Hot Launch Max Iron

Tour Edge has been king of the value sector in game improvement irons for a while now and they not only want to continue that with the new Hot Launch Max irons, but also make a serious play for performance parity as well.

With very strong lofts indeed, to make this playable, Tour Edge has employed a 360-degree undercut cavity and a super-low CG (Center of Gravity) location. This design is specifically engineered to aid launch, aiming to ensure that despite the "de-lofted" face, the ball still gets into the air with ease. As a result, in my testing these irons are absolute rocket launchers.

With launch monitor data, it became clear they offered some of the longest carries and highest ball speeds I've ever seen in this category. As mentioned, the launch is significant as are the steep descent angles as well which should aid approach play. I was also quietly impressed with the feel, particularly from the center. It’s a lovely combination of lively, powerful, and soft enough to be enjoyable.

Looks-wise there I think they are pretty clean and sophisticated. However, behind the ball, the story changes to one of pure function. if you are after the peace of mind that comes with a good chunk of metal behind the ball, the Hot Launch Max could be the one for you. Finally given this performance, and the price of a set, there is clear value here as well.

Tour Edge Exotics X725 Irons

Next up is the super game-improvement X725 iron, built with what Tour Edge describes as an “ironwood” design. This means plenty of offset to help tame a slice, along with a shallow face profile to make getting the ball airborne much easier.

Visually, the irons are a little unconventional as they’re clearly engineered to offer maximum help. They're far from unattractive though and we especially liked the TPU badge in the cavity, which not only looks sharp on the shelf but also adds a sense of substance behind the strike, giving the club a more premium finish.

Performance-wise, the experience was almost like swinging a bag full of hybrids. Many higher handicap golfers will certainly welcome that! They delivered a lively, springy feel that provided real speed off the face, while it was virtually impossible to hit a slice. The offset gives you that extra fraction of a second to square the face, making it very forgiving and keeping shots from leaking right for right-handed players.

Tour Edge Exotics E725 Irons

Rounding out the new lineup are the E725 irons, which sit neatly between the C725 and X725 models. Aesthetically we enjoyed the look of these irons, especially from the back where the jet-black, textured TPU badge in the cavity gives them a futuristic, premium look. At address the irons provide plenty of offset, a thick topline and a generous blade length, all of which inspire confidence for golfers who need that extra reassurance.

You may not think the golf glove is that important compared to other pieces of equipment; however it really is as, after all, it is the only part of the body that remains connected with the club throughout the swing.

So, what are the things you need to think about when looking into purchasing a new golf glove? Well below are some factors and pieces of advice to consider.

1. Which hand do you wear a golf glove on?

For the beginners out there, a golfer who plays right-handed will typically wear a golf glove on their left hand. This is because the left hand is the lead hand in the swing, provided the player has a conventional grip. Golfers who play left-handed typically wear a glove on their right hand.

Motocaddy's QB2 has rather large shoes to fill considering it is the trolley tasked with replacing the incredibly successful Cube push trolley, a decision the brand have taken after eight whole years. This is a lengthy period of time rarely seen in this industry, and it is a real testament to the quality of the original.

There are two major changes to note with the QB2. Firstly, it's 20% smaller than the Cube when folded, which is a big tick in the box of easy storage. The simple 2-step folding system is similar to the Cube and once you get used to it, it takes merely a few seconds to set it up or fold it down. The best new addition in our view, however, are the bigger wheels which mean traction is superb even when the ground under foot is slippy or uneven. It does make the trolley rock a little on rougher terrain, but it's worth it.

Storage options are also brilliant, with our favorite being the lower net underneath the handle. You will find that you use this a lot more than you would expect, while other features like a scorecard holder and integrated accessories compartment were also appreciated.

If you are after a great looking trolley, then the S1 is definitely a model to consider. The seamless, flowing design really looks fantastic as do the pops of red with the sporty wheels. Performance is not just aesthetic though because it is very easy to use, so much so it got a 5-star rating in our review.

This ease of use starts with the folding process, which is instantaneous. It's one step system works by pressing one button and pulling the chassis up, and boom you are done. Obviously folding it down takes next to no time as well.

The Motocaddy S1 has a motor that is whisper-quiet, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the background while you focus on your game, nor will it distract your playing partners if you're walking as they are hitting. The control knob on the handle is incredibly responsive, making speed adjustments feel instinctive rather than a chore.

Best screen

Thanks to the new class-leading 5" HD screen on the PowaKaddy RX12, using a golf trolley to plot around the course is easier than ever. The screen is a powerful one too, boasting a 1.1GHz processor that means the responsiveness to commands is akin to that of a premium smartphone.

The GPS is a high-tech powerhouse that fixes the 'basic' feel of its predecessor with a massive, smartphone-grade 5-inch portrait touchscreen. This display is a data-lover’s dream, offering everything from Full Hole View with pinch-to-zoom to detailed stat tracking for fairways, greens, and putts. While the new slimline remote is a huge ergonomic upgrade over the old clunky version, the on-course handling is still solid rather than ground-breaking and you’ll still need to give it the occasional steering nudge on steeper side-slopes compared to more specialized remote-only rigs.

Best remote model

The Stewart Golf Vertx Remote is a perfect example of a high-tech trolley that actually lives up to the hype. While some carts are a nightmare to fold, Stewart keeps it simple with a signature two-step system that collapses into a surprisingly compact shape, especially considering how much power is under the hood.

When in motion the design translates to a really solid trolley despite the two front wheels being pretty small in comparison to some other carts. Some of this stability is aided by its overall bulk but this doesn’t negatively impact its maneuverability. During our testing the Vertx had no trouble with a variety of terrain, including steeper hills. It’s here that the unseen tech called Active Terrain Control (ATC) plays a leading role, with the operating system allowing the trolley to react to different conditions.

What you don’t get here is a GPS built-in to the handle. If that’s a dealbreaker you might want to consider the GPS options from Powacaddy or Motocaddy, for example, and again, this model is reasonably heavy at 14.9kg/31lbs so there are lighter models out there.

Most robust

For any golfer who’s into their gadgets, the S5 GPS from Motocaddy is a great trolley choice. Boasting a range of exciting features, it’s sure to be a hit with anyone who loves tech or is crazy about testing out all the best golf accessories available.

One of the most sought-after features of the S5 is the one-step folding system that quickly transforms the trolley into a compact shape. Best Women's Golf Clubs 2026

Women's package sets

If you're new to the game, the most simple way to get a good set up is to buy a full set rather than individual clubs to make up your setup. Not many sets are better than the Strata Ultimate Women's Set which comes with a 12° driver, fairway wood, 4 and 5 hybrid, 6-9 iron, PW, SW and a putter, all held together in a tidy stand bag. The set ticks every box you need when creating your arsenal for the links.

When women are just starting out in golf, they need equipment that is going to make the game as easy as possible, clubs that help them to get the ball airborne from the outset. In testing we found that this is an ideal starter set to do just that, delivering excellent forgiveness and notable distance and accuracy. Aesthetically, they look fantastic, with a glossy chrome finish across the irons and we also like the bag with purple accents.

It's worth noting the putter is a blade, which are considered a little more difficult to use than the thicker, bigger mallet-style putters which beginners tend to prefer. It's a lovely putter nonetheless and shouldn't put you off the set - try it out and if you don't like it, it's only one club you need to change from the rest of the set.

In all our reviews of women's golf equipment, we can't think of many that are better value. The 'Ultimate Women's Set' very much earns it's name as one of the best golf sets for beginners out there. Callaway are one of the leading brands in the golf industry and their REVA is another fantastic option for anyone seeking the comfort of a full set of clubs. A driver, 3 wood, 5 and 6 hybrids, 7-9 irons, pitching and sand wedges are all included in addition to a trusty putter and stylish cart bag.

During our testing process we were particularly impressed with the driver which provided consistent, penetrative flight as well as high launch - two massive aspects of good performance off the tee. This performance continues down into the woods and hybrids as well.

The irons are rather chunky on the head but remain lightweight and extremely forgiving. A specialist wedge like a 60° would've topped off the set nicely but there is plenty of performance to have in the pitching wedge and sand wedge nevertheless.

The putter might be the best part of the set, with Callaway producing some of the the best putters through their sister company Odyssey. They use their Stroke Lab technology to manufacturer a lovely, fang-designed flat stick which was a joy to use. This set will rival anything out there on the market and could prove an excellent present to a loved one or friend looking to upgrade their current setup.

Another worthy inclusion in this guide is the CG4000 Ladies set from MacGregor, which is a really affordable set of clubs ideally suited to beginners. It consists of a 13-degree driver, a fairway wood, a 24-degree hybrid, irons from 7 to SW and a putter. You even get a striking blue golf bag.

Visually the clubs are satisfactory rather than stunning, but at address both the woods and irons sit nice and square. They feature enough confidence-inspiring elements too, such as the irons featuring a thick topline, generous blade length and a good amount of offset. Importantly they are lightweight and well-balanced, so I didn’t feel like I had to overexert ourselves on every swing.

I was particularly impressed with the putter, which borrows its design from the Odyssey 2-ball. Many beginners struggle to line up their putts correctly, and this aid is really helpful when it comes to hitting your start line with some consistency. I found this really helped me to gain confidence on the greens.

Women’s drivers

Automatically when we think of driver performance we think of distance - but there is more to it than that. Consistency, forgiveness and accuracy are all as important as the distance it flies in the air so we need to find a driver that suits you game to compliment all of these aspects. With this in mind, below are some of the best golf drivers designed for women that will tick a lot of these boxes as well. Ping’s new G Le4 family is the fourth generation of a line that has been a popular choice for female golfers since 2017. Visually it is a bit of a radical departure from previous models though, with it featuring a new purple finish which looks great in the bag and down by the ball. The plain ALTA Le D shaft (available in Lite or Ultra Lite) is a rich, deep purple, which complements the two-tone crown, which can look almost bluish in certain lights.

Just like the G Le 3, it has a big, confidence-boosting 460cc titanium head that manages to look sleek without being over the top. Once again turbulator technology features on the crown to boost ball speed and I actually found them useful for framing the ball nicely. The introduction of the Carbonfly Wrap crown, a first for Ping’s women’s drivers, saves significant weight, allowing the centre of gravity to be positioned lower and deeper for more powerful drives and increased carry.

Indeed this was certainly the case in my testing. What impressed me most was the extra carry distance I achieved on my best drives. I’d put it at least 10-12 yards. It was significant enough for me to notice and I’ll take that extra yardage any day! I also felt like I got away with some mis-hits as well which is no doubt due to the fixed backweight, designed to produce a 15% higher MOI compared to the previous generation.

Finally I loved the overall weight, it is effortless to swing and if you’re looking for a boost off the tee this season and have a swing speed of 80 mph or less, definitely consider the new G Le4

Next up I picked the Reva Rise Driver from Callaway, which I think ight be the best-looking women's driver on the market. It’s a premium-looking offering throughout, from the pale green leather headcover to the overall shape and design. At address it has a confidence-boosting aesthetic as well thanks to the size of the head and visible loft.

But performance isn't limited to the aesthetic. The entire Reva Rise platform was created by Callaway’s Women’s Golf Council and uses data from thousands of female players to help inform the designs. So what does that mean in reality?

Well off the back of this development, in my testing I got impressive ball speed which boosted my higher launch and the level of forgiveness is impressive too. I noticed that even on mishits the Ai10x Smart Face did its job, helping me to maintain both speed and distance no matter where I struck it on the face. For me it also limited excessive side spin that was trying to make the ball deviate from the fairway.

While there are two loft options on offer, the club does benefit from the adjustable OptiFit hosel, allowing you to optimize the ball flight to your needs.

First things first, the latest installment of TaylorMade's Kalea driver series certainly passes the eye test. The carbon fibre finish on the head makes this look powerful as you set it behind the ball at address and plays compliment to the lightweight nature of the club. We'd go as far as to say the looks give a luxurious feel to the club and when you take this out of the bag you'll rarely feel that one of your partners has a driver that looks more of the part than this one.

During testing we found accuracy and forgiveness levels to be impressive, to massive green ticks that we always look for in the longer clubs in the golf bag. The head feels compact through impact, relaying positive feedback particularly on well-hit drives. Said feel is obviously not as good on miss-hit shots but impressive nonetheless.

The weighting of this driver does feel a little different to others on this list, and although it is still lightweight the head may feel a little heavier than other options out there. As a result, the 'honeymoon period' we sometimes get with new clubs may have to wait a little while as you get used to the new weight distribution - but we promise you, it's worth the wait!

Finally I have picked the XXIO 14 Ladies Driver, a club engineered specifically for women with moderate swing speeds. Designed to maximize speed without requiring extra exertion, the club utilizes a new lightweight VR-Titanium material called 'ULTIFLEX' which delivers a stronger, thinner face that promotes faster ball speeds and consistent distance.

The forgiveness on offer is driven by ActivWing technology and the in-built draw-bias design. The ActivWing feature helps guide the clubface into an optimal striking position at impact, offering stability and reducing the likelihood of wayward shots. This aerodynamic assistance combines wonderfully with the club’s draw bias to straighten out flights, ensuring that even off-center strikes or mishits stay on the intended line rather than resulting in disastrous outcomes.

In testing, we found this driver to be very confidence-inspiring, offering a significant sense of control from takeaway to impact. While massive distance gains were not the primary takeaway, the consistency and ease of use were exceptional. The combination of a confidence-boosting shape and technology that smooths out errors makes it a premium choice for golfers seeking a forgiving club that minimizes the penalty of a less-than-perfect swing.

Women's fairways/hybrids

The golf hybrid has become a very popular club for female golfers, as they are a more forgiving replacement, especially for long irons. They are a cross between a wood and an iron but essentially resemble small headed fairway woods. Given the importance of the clubs between the driver and irons, I have included a specfic section on my top picks for women's fairway woods and hybrids below.

After being impressed by the technology in the Cobra DS-ADAPT MAX-K women's driver, I also got to test the fairway wood recently to see if the performance delivered there as well. This club not only promises a blend of forgiveness and versatility, but it also features a sharp-looking design in a bold finish, which is very dark, it’s almost black, but I like it!

Once again, like the driver it is slightly heavier than other models in this list so if you value lightness in your fairway wood, look at the other models in this guide. But this weight does create a feeling of stability too. I was initially apprehensive about it but this club felt incredibly solid through impact. There was a fantastic pop off the face, and the ball launched with a lovely, high trajectory. Additionally even on shots that weren't perfectly struck, those that normally lead to a nasty slice or a low runner, the ball stayed straight and got airborne with ease.

Of course I have to also mention the adjustability here. Like the driver, this wood features Cobra's FutureFit33 system with 33 loft and lie settings. This means that you can tweak the loft and lie by +/- 2 degrees, while the SMARTPAD keeps the face square.
