Mizuno MP-63 and MP-53 irons revealed
The new Mizuno MP-63 iron is an evolution of Mizuno's most popular tour iron, the MP-62 while the Mizuno MP-53 iron provides added forgiveness in a compact head
The Mizuno MP-63 iron has been designed to take the visual appeal of the MP-62 and combine it with an improvement in both feel and workability.
Mizuno have studied the vibrations that are produced at impact and the affect these have on the sound and feel of an iron. The renowned iron manufacturer named this Harmonic Impact Technology and used the results to produce a number of different prototypes. These were then blind tested by Mizuno's tour team (including Luke Donald) and the Diamond Muscle Design of the Mizuno MP-63 irons came out the unanimous winner.
One of the main changes in the new Mizuno MP-63 iron is a 360° grind on the trailing edge that allows for workability and a compact looking top line at address.
In a first for Mizuno the set features a reverse flow. This means that the longer clubs have larger heads than the compact short irons. This helps create a balance of forgiveness and precision.

The Mizuno MP-53 irons combine a compact head with a pocket cavity for a combination of workability and forgiveness.
The MP-53 heads also feature a Diamond Muscle Design but this is combined with a V shaped pocket cavity to provide a bigger sweet spot than any other Mizuno MP iron. This pocket allows 14 grams to be removed and redistributed around the cavity. The MP-53 also features a 360° grind to lessen the effective width of the sole and top edge. The head is smaller than the MX-300 iron but more forgiving.
