Architect: Hackett, O'Sullivan Stats: 6,651 yds, par 72, SSS 71 GF: €60-€90 Visitor information: Visitors welcome seven days a week W: killarney-golf.com 2008 Ranking: 68 (Down 2) Improvements since 2008 Rankings: Course: None Clubhouse: Fully refurbished
This beautiful course runs by the lake shore with the Macgillycuddy Reeks mountain range serving as a glorious backdrop. It has been revamped in recent years to bring the many attractive water hazards more into play, and this year hosted the Irish Open. The lake threatens on three of the opening four holes, and there is a grandstand finish at 18 with ponds all the way up the left and bunkers on the right. Risk and reward is a key factor because of the many dogleg par 4s. This is a fair course and as such remains enjoyable and playable for all abilities.
Panellists' comments: "Stunning backdrop of the McGillycuddy Reeks and Killarney lakes"; "Ambience and views bring a real wow factor"
